Charming crooned in his small voice at Erilena. Yes, he was a gorgeous flitter. He nibbled at the bit of cookie she offered and when he was done he rubbed against her hand as she rubbed him. Fond of his girl's friend he was. She was nice and she recognized his obvious handsomeness. He chittered at her flirtatiously. She was very pretty too, did she know that? The brown was intelligent - he knew nothing would come of his flirting with Erilena - but that didn't stop him from having his fun.
Nephele grinned mischieviously at Erilena's suggestion. "Marina's a crecheworker," she told the girl, gaze flicking over to K'sel to check his reaction. "I warn you though...if you dare to ask about K'sel you may find yourself covered in spinner webs by the time she finishes talking." It was a valid warning. Nephele knew first hand what it could be like to listen to Marina. "Then again, most of the crecheworkers have very loose tongues. There's a reason they work with the kids. They often have kids of their own."
Why did Nephele know so much about it? Work in the creche was one of her favourite chores and she often picked it since she had the option to. The girl genuinely loved children. They were very refreshing to work with and they seemed to like her in return. When K'sel spoke she frowned slightly. Maybe her guess had been off. She almost felt sympathy for the man but he was the one responsible for 'being a bummer' in the first place.
As her idea was agreed with by her company, Nuoth fluttered her wings in pleasure. She let both walk on ahead as she turned her mind to Hers. We are going swimming, NepheleMine. If you need me... I know darling. Have fun. The green followed after her friends at a calm pace. She didn't mind being last to the river. What she liked was having companions to swim with and so long as they came too she was happy even if she did end up as a rotten egg.
At reminder of the new wings and the fact that she'd be graduating soon (but not soon enough according to her) she said, "Hmph! It is impressive. Its annoying that they have this new wing system. I have no doubt I'll be on that wing with Nuoth in a couple months, but K'lir gets a free pass." It rankled with her. She felt sympathy that he'd lost a dragon before but it seemed unfair to advance him to the Centurio wing. He may be experienced but Baoth certainly was not. She shook her head and smiled wryly. "Besides thinking of my looming graduation I've been busy with lessons and working in the creche when I have spare time."

Erilena listened politely to the different things going on in her friends lives. It sounded like business as usual. Which the weyrling supposed was good. The no news was good news sort of course but it was good that neither seemed too stressed. The greenrider giggled at Nephele’s warning about Marina. Her hand stroked down Charming as she nodded happily.
“Oh I love Marina. She’s the nicest woman really.” Between her infirmary work, chores, and lessons it was hard to get down to the creche anymore. It made her slightly sad really. The kids where awesome for taking your mind off just about anything. Marina was just the sweetest woman as well. She would have to work something out and stop by soon. She neglected to comment on the opinion about K’lir. She didn’t know the man or his dragon so really she didn’t think it fair of her to have any sort of opinion on the matter.
Idly she flicked a bug off the blanket and shrugged when her turn came. “Nothing to exciting going on with me really. Just chores, lessons, and work in the infirmary. I’m busy is all.” Smiling she picked up a piece of fruit and bit into it. Really her life was a bit boring right now. She frowned at K’sel and picked up a cookie. Idly she tossed it in his direction. “You’re not a bummer K’sel. Cheer up big brother. Congrats on the wing by the way. I knew you could do it.” Smiling brightly she turned her attention back to the brown fire lizard on her shoulder. Cooing softly to him she scratched at his eye ridge. The little flirt.
Feyrianth was first to the river. Naturally she, in her bliss, neglected to notice that the bigger dragons had let her win. Giving a cry of excitement she leapt across the bank and landed in the water with a spectacular splash. First! She was first~ Her four wings flared outwards and she splashed the water happily before just floating in place.
Paddling in a circle the green dunked her head under water for a moment before throwing it back and allowing the water to run in rivulets down her head and muzzle. Oh it felt so nice after the hot. Tucking her wings to her back she paddled in slow circles as she awaited her friends. Oh they better hurry the slowpokes.

Great. They were both in love with his mother. Next thing he would find out that they were building sandcastles on the beach with his brother in the afternoons, then it really would turn into a weird sort of family. Not that K'sel was adverse bonding with the girls but....but....he had his reasons. He was K'sel, he didn't always have to explain himself you see.... Eyesore took the opportunity to flitter onto the scene and pilfer some of the rider's sandwich, distract the young man from his thoughts, and to of course visit Charming. He hopped over from the brownrider's forearm to Erilena's other shoulder and stuck his snout out towards his brown clutchmate. Chitter chitter. Hey there.
"Oh come on Neph, you can't tell me that you are pissy that K'lir isn't on your wing," K'sel shrugged. He was rather neutral about the man in question, but that didn't mean anything when it came to the rider's jabs at the girl, "besides it makes you sound a bit jealous..." but then, a cookie flew at him. What the shards was that for? He cocked his eyebrow at that one. Not only because it seemed a bit playfully random, but because it was dear sister Eri that was telling him he wasn't a bummer and not the girl he didn't want to be a bummer for. Cue the classic K'sel frowny face. In his logic this mean that Nephele did think that he was a downer. Oh bother. He'd just have to show her now wouldn't he?
Meanwhile Pettahth made his way down to the river. He was just a tad delighted to see the young green so excited about her victory and he was glad that he was able (via his own loss) to make her that happy. Besides it wasn't like he was losing out on the deal at all. He still got to go into the river too, and it was so niiiiiice. He just let himself slink into the shallows with a serpentine like move and began to wallow. Always good to have a swim after something as strenuous as a game of tag. He turned to look for Nuoth. She was going to join them any moment yes?
"Thank you Eri, sweet of you to say that..." the devilish grin slowly crept back onto his face, "I think that we should join the dragons sometime, I could...go for a swim. I think it would be fun..." It was important to note that K'sel was completely oblivious to a certain someone's lack of swimming skills. He had only the basic male concept that girls in skimpy swim wear was a good idea.

Charming was perfectly happy to accept the caresses. He let out a low, almost-purr and his claws curled into the fabric of her shirt carefully. He'd have stayed like that if not for the appearance of his bff. He fluted at Eyesore and squirmed along Erilena's shoulder until he could touch snouts with the blue. Welcome, he was! The brown chittered thoughtfully before fluting again and jumping off the greenweyrling's shoulder. He gave a warning cheep to the blue. If he dared to leave before he got back.... He reappeared a few moments later, clutching a mini pink and frilly dress. Look, look! So pretty, right?
Nephele ignored her firelizard, well used to his antics by then. She turned her attention to K'sel again. She was somewhat surprised by the fact that he continued to use her nickname. She snorted and replied, "I don't mind that I don't have to be on the same wing as him. He's a brat. I suppose you can call me jealous but its not for my sake. Nuoth's just as good in the air as Baoth and I find it unfair to her." Not that the green minded at all. In fact, she was very happy for Baoth and K'lir for getting onto a special wing. She liked all her clutchsiblings and if they were getting recognized for their skill that was only to the good.
Nephele shrugged and then grinned at the tossed cookie. She watched almost hopefully to see if K'sel would throw anything back. Food fights could be fun and they could always clean off in the river. The brownrider had a different idea though and she smiled uncomfortabely. She couldn't even look to Erilena for help since she hadn't told her friend about her inability to swim. She'd been too embarassed to bring it up. Unfortunately, Charming had no problem telling the world about it. He chittered and broadcast a flailing Nephele in the water. The girl's cheeks burned red and she ground her forehead with the heel of her hand.
Nuoth was amused and gratified by Fey's reaction to being first in the water. She entered the water a moment after Pettahth did and she went straight towards some deeper water. She ducked under the surface and watched the fish scatter before breaking the surface. Oh, it was lovely! She paddled over to Feyrianth and nudged her gently. She was one happy green. She was as much home in the air as she was in the water.

Erilena was quickly becoming fed up with K’sel’s down attitude. What was wrong with him? Thankfully she was distracted by the appearance of the blue flit on her other shoulder Eyesore. Poor thing had a right horrid name. She didn’t offer to touch him because she wasn’t sure how that would be taken. Instead the weyrling watched in amusement as Charming left and then returned with a pink frilly dress.
Eyes widening she burst out in laughter. Seriously? A dress? Oh poor brown. She just laughed harder and crossed her arms over her midsection in an attempt to hold some of the laughter inside. Brown flit in a dress? “I’m sure you look beautiful in it Charming.” She managed before an image came into her mind and she frowned before turning to her friend. Nephele? What did the image mean? Maybe that her friend couldn’t swim?
Erilena to the rescue. No way she was going to let that little thing bother her friend. “Your right Charming. It’s not safe for any of us to go swimming after eating. We’d all drown. We can do it another day. I’m not to keen on getting wet anyway. My swimming stuff is back at the barracks and I am not stripping in front of K’sel.” Crossing her arms she shot the brownrider a glare before stuffing a piece of fish at Charming. Hush now little brown no need to go telling all your bonded’s secrets. Quietly she caught Nephele’s eye and smiled. Hopefully she had been able to salvage that mistake. “I have to get back to the infirmary soon anyway. Kalierre will skin me if I’m late.” Ok probably not but she would be slightly ticked.
Feyrianth crooned softly as her friends made their appearances. With a snort of excitement she dipped under the water to herd the fishes. Breaking the surface again she nuzzled Nuoth back. The water felt so very nice. Paddling to deeper water she took a breath before submerging to shift through the murky bottom for shinys. The best shinys where always buried. They liked to play hide and find. Feyrianth liked that game a lot to. Silly shinys. Who would have guessed that they liked games just as much as she did?
(This thread is getting old guys we should prob close it soon so we can branch off into diff threads ;D. Swimming lessons ftw?)

Eyesore appreciated the contact with his friend, but before he could blink, the brown was up to something again. Where did he go....oh. He just about died at the sight of the pink dress. Ok, ok, maybe he could live with Charming wearing that (maybe not approve, but he'd live) but that thing would NOT be on him! The blue turned his nose up at the frilly thing and punctuated the notion with a squawk. Preposterous! This noise however, did finally alert the young rider. K'sel was finishing another sandwich when he noticed his eldest pet taking up residence on Erilena's shoulder, "You can touch him...maybe..." even K'sel wasn't exactly sure how the little flit would respond to that kind of attention. Eyesore so rarely took it from even him, they had a relationship that didn't rely on emotional out pouring, just being around each other - even an arms length away - was more than enough, "Well I can promise that he won't hurt you...at least."
He was wiping crumbs off his shirt when he saw a vision. A most magnificent vision, the kind that spur epiphanies and religious conversions. Yes, it was that awesome. "You can't swim?!" he blurted. Forget saving feelings, forget being nice. K'sel was genuinely appalled, and humored by this revelation. If only he had known this long ago! He would have had so much more ammo to fight her with, although really this should have been the least of his concerns. He canted his head to the side and gave the senior weyrling another curious look. Yes, he was sure he saw right, she definitely floundered in the water, but he definitely didn't want to be punched for this, he definitely didn't want to make the girl too upset after already making a comment about his "sister's" chest. He was pretty sure he had the solution, and he didn't even need Erilena's input to come up with it. The student would surpass the master yet!
"My dear Nephele, your secret is safe with me...AND we can fix the problem before anybody else finds out," this was a win for K'sel in more than one way. Sure, he could just let her stay in the dark. He could just stalk her everytime she was near water in the hopes he could see her fall in...or he could go with the much, much, much, more rewarding plan. He would just teach her, and then he could always hold it over her head that she had to thank him for something. Yes...that would stoke his ego just right, and he could get more time to endear himself to her while he was at it. Foolproof clearly, "I can teach you to swim. It will come in handy here as it gets hotter I'm sure..." As if on cue, he started to get up from his spot. He was making sure he would leave before she could protest too much, "We'll get together some evening soon then? You know so its a little dark so nobody sees right?" He began faking being in a rush, "I really must excuse myself now ladies....PETTAHTH!" He casually waved goodbye and sauntered off towards the dragons in the water.
Pettahth had just gotten good and comfortable when he saw his rider head over. Ugh. He dunked his head one last time so that he was extra wet for their ride back to the weyr. Must we now? I was just beginning to have fun.... Really Petta, I'd let you stick around and all but I need a hasty get away and....I thought you didn't even want to come in the first place? Oh I... I made the best of a situation, I suggest you learn to do the same... I did... The brown ambled out of the water and said a quick farewell to his friends, I'm sure I will see you later Nuoth, Feyrianth...I had a splendid time, but I regretfully have to go...

Charming chittered knowingly. He was gorgeous in his dress. His could do great things with the thread when she really tried. He fluted at his blue friend. He was sure if Eyesore wanted some coverings too that His would be more than willing to oblige. Perhaps something less frilly and bright? Charming tempted the blue with an image of a plain white shirt thing. He thought it would look, well...charming on Eyesore. The laughter of Nephele's friend made the brown flutter to land in front of His and she helped him get into the dress with a grin. He did so like to make people laugh.
Her grin faltered but she managed not to let her near-panic at the idea of her friend and K'sel knowing she couldn't swim. She turned a grateful expression on Erilena. Smooth move. Charming had moved back over to Erilena and he took the fish with an amused titter. Sure, pretend it was something else. He'd made his point. He ate the fish daintily, a picture of feminity in the pink dress. Just when Nephele was daring to hope K'sel would take Erilena's meaning he blurted out the truth. She groaned softly and burried her face in her hands again. She was going to take away Charming's dress for a week for what he'd done.
Nephele took to glaring at K'sel. It almost seemed to say 'how dare you know about that!' She blinked when he offered to teach her how to swim. Huh! Imagine that. He continued on rather quickly and she only managed to blink more. Was he fleeing? Perhaps. One way or the other, it seemed like the picnic was over. Erilena had to go as well. Whether or not K'sel was actually busy she wasn't sure but she was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. She supposed since there was spare time she could go help out in the creche. Charming could amuse them in his dress.
Nuoth crooned quietly at the returned affection. She swam towards the shore when she noticed Pettahth's approaching. She pulled herself out of the water nearby the pair and dipped her head to Pettahth. He'd see her again? Oh, how wonderful! Fair skies, Pettahth. I hope the time we can see each other again comes soon, she told the brown, broadcasting to Feyrianth as well. Was it a bit formal? Of course it was. Just part of who Nuoth was. She looked at K'sel curiously. It would have been obvious to him that he was being regarded by her for she lowered her head somewhat. She moved away a moment later so that the brown would have plenty of space to take off.
