Ha! Those feminine wiles would not work on him again. No matter the answer, he had already decided that his response would be nothing but the most mellow of disregards. Should he crack a goofy grin he would hide it with his wine glass, should she say something funny he would do nothing more than a reserved chuckle...at least until they got away from the line, which he was sure they were holding up. Ironic, considering how much they complained - though mentally - about the long wait. He stepped away towards the long rows of tables to claim himself a seat. He knew better than to try and be a gentleman again with the offered arm and just hoped that the girl would catch on and follow.
"So what? That is hardly an answer.. people break the rules all the time..." He cared little for her protests. Besides, he could always bring up that night when Nuoth was very immature and Nephele still decided to offer him either half or full service and it didn't take a genius to figure out that whatever the service was, it was against the weyrling rule book. Of course, just as he was about to play that card he found himself stopping. Dear Faranth...it was almost like Erilena had mind control over him. He could just hear the girl's voice in the back of his head telling him to be nice! Ugh. That meant that he had to fully ignore the second half of Nephele's response which was a crying shame. He was sure he had the perfect little snippet for her...
Instead he took a sip of wine and carefully constructed a veneer of apathy, "Oh she is old enough now isn't she? Hmmm. Well I'm sure you've caught the attentions of somebody in your weyrling class?" He passed the comment off...passed the attention off with it, but he was lying. He didn't want her to have eyes for one of the dimglows amongst the Zodiac Weyrlings. Especially when they included such winners as R'men. K'sel had done many stupid things in his life, but he had yet to stab a dragon. In fact that whole incident made him look like a winner. On one hand another boy stabs a green while he threw a knife into an invaders neck...the choice is yoursss.
Swirling his glass around with put on debonair - K'sel did not have that kind of class, his family was disgustingly mediocre - he stopped before they could reach a seat and placed a hand on his hip, "So, shall we sit?" He was loathe to try and pull out a chair for her. She might reject that too.

Nephele followed the brownweyrling towards the tables. Crowded area. She didn't really mind though. It was easier to act civil when there were many people around. K'sel was making it easy enough so far but it was only a matter of time before he messed up. She sipped at the wine and although it tasted good - or perhaps because it did - she grimaced slightly. She'd have to be careful and make sure she limited herself to the one glass. She didn't really have a high tolerance for the stuff. She used to have a couple of glasses at Benden to help her do what she needed but here she had no need for the stuff.
The girl's only outward reaction to what K'sel said was a narrowing of her eyes. Break the rules? The rules meant absolutely nothing to her. It was for Nuoth's sake - and her own sake too, if she were being truthful - that she didn't deliberately seek that out. What had been offered while she was delirious hadn't been by her own wishes. Perhaps her reaction stopped there because of his diplomatic silence. Not quite ready to make the first mistake was he?
A small smile of feminine pride appeared on her face at his question. "Oh, I'm sure I could catch someone's attention if I wanted to." There were a couple reasons behind her confidence. She wasn't ugly, nor would she cling to any of them. On top of that she had experience seducing men. The most important reason for her confidence was their age though. Teenage guys? They were pretty much hormones with a human shell. She shrugged and took another sip of wine. "None of my class are particularily interesting...save for one, I suppose," she commented. He only held interest because he was deliberately unhelpful.
Nephele considered the seats and shook her head lightly. Now that she was given the choice she found she wasn't tired yet and there was still quite a bit to see. She liked to see what was around the first day and then return other days with clear goals in mind. You could say the first day consisted of a plan to make plans. How else was she to enjoy the Gather to the fullest. Without thinking it through she told K'sel, "I'd prefer not to. I'm going to continue looking around. You can come if you like."

He wanted to sigh and sigh loudly. Doing this...keeping up the niceness was so hard. It was a burden really, and he didn't know how much longer he could go. When she mentioned that she might have had one boy on her radar he felt himself slighty tense for a moment before letting the emotion pass as he reminded himself that he really shouldn't care one way or the other. He didn't actually have eyes for Nephele, so there was no real reason to be jealous. What he had could only be curiosity right? He nodded silently to her reply before giving a playful little answer, "One? Who might that be? He doesn't happen to be a surly, brooding, mess is he? I know how interested you are in those types." He of course wasn't like that at all. Oh no! K'sel was a suave and elegant socialite who is beloved by all of course.
And now he was ready to sit...he had taken a seat assuming the girl would say yes, and when the answer was otherwise it took a moment to sink in. What? But I - I just bought her stuff. Girls like that! I just spent marks on her! What is this crap? His dragon had a much better sense of romance than he had - rather ironic coming from a dragon like Pettahth, Maybe money isn't everything. You can't sweep someone off their feet when you are sitting yourself. K'sel hated it when the brown was right. Although he was totally prepared to beg and whine and use all of the pity in the world to get her to stay he went with a slightly different route. Maybe he was turning the tables just a little bit...
"If I like?" He took a sip of the wine. It was good wine and he was so proud of himself for springing the extra mark to get them both the good stuff. Couldn't she see the thought he had put into that? Oh well. He rubbed his chin in false contemplation and then acted a little hurt as he crossed a leg and turned in his seat to her, "I don't think any of this is about what I like. I want to know if you want me to come along..." Because if she really didn't then he would just stick around here, get a few more glasses of wine and probably end the night by breaking something, "Oh, and saying 'I don't care' is not an acceptable answer."

Nephele blinked at the response she got before she giggled. Actually giggled. It was funny because of how true it seemed. Not that she knew for sure if that was the case but oh well. "He sure as heck isn't the friendly, outgoing type. Not sure if he's a brooding mess or just quiet though. That's what makes him interesting," she told him honestly. Her interest was purely curiosity. It really would be her downfall one day. She'd stayed around hatching mandyrs at Misfit's hatching out of curiosity. "He has a blue. R'ahre and Ahth." When she stopped speaking she shrugged, tired of that line of conversation.
His rhetorical question snagged her attention just as it was about to wander. Her eyes narrowed just slightly as he continued. Oh? Trying to turn the situation on her. She considered several responses for the maximum shock/annoyance factor before settling with, "Sure, company couldn't hurt." She was willing to bet that K'sel had not been expecting her to give a straight answer, nevermind a yes. "I trust that's an acceptable answer? Anyways if you're coming than lets go." With that she turned towards the nearest booth she hadn't yet been to with a slight smirk on her face.
Whether he followed or not she didn't pay much mind as she looked over the wares and asked a question of the stallkeeper. The bone masks were interesting but not really her thing.
((We can continue or end here, up to you~))
