With Maximum Rediculosity! Nephele had taken off her mask shortly after buying it. It was now safely tucked in the sash of her dress with her Marks. As of yet there wasn't much need to wear it and it could get a bit uncomfortable. She would use it plenty later on and throught the Gather. She may even get used to wearing one. The anonmity of even such a small mask was oddly comforting. Not to say she'd wear it around the weyr after the Gather but during...quite possibly all the time. Why not have a touch of fun? Nuoth was enjoying herself greatly as she wandered around with Hers. Occasionally she would ask Nephele to stop so she could get a closer look at whatever had caught her eye before the pair would continue looking at all the Gather had to offer. Nephele had noticed a young girl with a box of feline cubs but had decided to avoid it completely. Kittens were cute but she had her hands full with Nuoth and the two flitters. Charming was off causing someone trouble no doubt. Be it swooping in and perching statuelike among their wares or actually picking up whatever they were selling and fluttering around their head with it. Nephele absolutely refused to be thought encouraging the behaviour so she had let Charming go and do as he please for a while. Misfit was being okay. He had yet to spot any chance for troublemaking. The girl was most certain he was waiting for an opportunity to frame a 'mandyr. He seemed greatly amused the first time he'd gotten a drudge to think a 'mandyr had spilled a tray of herdbeast stew on the ground. Like a puny 'mandyr could pull it off! The trio eventually wandered close to a stall marked with such a curious title that Nephele had to wander closer. Relationship Advice 1/32 Mark. Who would make such a stand. Oddly enough as she got closer she actually recognized the person running the stall. K'sel. K'sel was running it. The frustrating brown weyrlingrider was actually giving out advice? Nephele couldn't help but burst out laughing, quite loud enough for him to hear and likely others too.

Her.
Her, her, her. The Nephele One. Ugh.
He knew her. He didn't have to see her face, she could have been wearing a mask and his eyes would have burned right through the glitter and paper mache, right past the flesh and bone and he would have KNOWN it was her. The thing that bothered him was that he didn't know whether to be excited to see her or to be seeking shelter, after all, he was pretty effective at getting under her skin - a skill he prided himself on. Though it seemed to him that the tables had turned, and her laughing at him didn't help matters one bit. To K'sel it was like nails on a slate board, each cackle stabbed him in the ear and a vein throbbed in his forehead in perfect syncopation. He could have raged on her, but instead his lips stayed pressed together in a scowl, and his dark eyes leveled on her in clear and distinct irritation as he plotted out his next words with careful consideration.
"I charge for that you know..." he grumbled at her laughter, of course she would see the small print if she wasn't such a stupid girl, "you're just sooo tickled with yourself aren't you?" His voice took on a definite acidity towards the end as he put emphasis on a few select words, his glare caught sight of her company and another familiar face popped up to take a gander as well. Pettahth had been laying obediently off to the side of his weyrlingrider and doing little more than small shifts sleeping. There wasn't exactly a whole lot else he could do. K'sel had given him commands to stay put and stay out of the business side of the stall, he had finally taken charge of something in his life and the brown respected his bonded for this, so quiet he stayed until now. In his defense the girl looked hardly like a customer - or at least the few that had been through already - and now she had her own dragon now! His eyes whirled excitedly at Nuoth. Hello new little hatchling...how are you?
K'sel was perturbed with how nice his dragon was being. These were not the ones he should be nice to! The brooding boy had to crush some dreams quickly and efficiently before any damage could be done, Cut it out. Don't get any of your smart ideas. Pettahth swung his tail in defiance, a forked end flicked his rider in the back and all of his muscles snapped tight. He found himself sitting up tall instead of hunched over for just a second in shock of it all. If he wasn't so hung up on Nephele, then a typical all out rider vs. dragon quarrel would have erupted, but just this once K'sel was willing to put it all aside, Eyesore had swooped down from his perch on the teenager's shoulder onto the brown's pepper dashed snout to begin chastising him for such violence. At least somebody is sticking up for me. The dragon shook his head and sent the little blue between. I stick up for you too you know. Long before you ever got the little thing.
"So," he was captain grumpy again, "are you just going to stand over there? Or are you going to come over? Because you are on the verge of getting billed for wasting my time." What was he saying? Why oh why was he asking her to come closer and therefore engage in conversation? Something they knew they were bad at? He didn't seem to care that he would probably regret this decision.

Nuoth was beginning to get worried. Were humans supposed to laugh for so long? She didn't know so the seemingly uncontrollable laughing was a problem. Nephele's laughing merely increased ath the expression on his face. That was brilliant. At his words though her laughing finally slowed down, altough she was still clearly amused beyond all belief. How good it felt to laugh like that! Before she could answer though she noticed Pettahth poke his head over the table. He, at least, she was glad to see. Company for Nuoth.
First though, she had to answer to K'sel. She considered the small print then simply grinned. "Very tickled. And charging me would just be wrong, seen as I'm not asking for advice in the first place no 'extra charges' would be applicable." Logic. Of course, as the Stall runner he could easily overule that but oh well. Nuoth was pleasantly surprised when she was addressed by the brown. Given that Hers and the other one were butting heads over something she hadn't expected His to talk to her at all. Greetings. I am well, yourself? She remained ever the polite dragon with her words and manner.
Nephele quirked a brow at Nuoth and Pettahth. Clearly their dragons got along better than their humans. Not really something she cared to fix either. It would be great if Nuoth could be on good terms with the dragon of someone she disliked, but that did not mean she would go looking for the company of K'sel. When she looked back at the weryling boy he was standing upright as if he'd been stung. Given his blue firelizard's scolding of Pettahth she knew who to thank for whatever had happened. It was a shame Eyesore left as he'd come or she would have called over Charming. As it was, there was no need to.
Nephele was very much surprised when he returned his cheery attentions to her. He was...asking her to come over. Even ignoring their previous conversation she wouldn't normally have gone over to such a weird stall. Yet she found her feet pulling her forward, Nuoth following curiously. She didn't answer his question for the answer was clear. She was coming over. Instead she turned her attention to Pettahth. "Hello again Pettahth. Good to see you. Despite whatever happens between me and him," she pointed at K'sel imperiously, "I do hope you won't allow that to affect how you treat Nuoth." The green in question blinked whirling eyes in surprise.

K'sel very simply rolled his eyes. The weyrling was neglecting to wear his mask, it sat off to the side unloved. It was crafted on the fly by his mother who insisted he spend his marks on something good. He couldn't argue the idea, and accepted the makeshift mask, but that didn't mean he was going to use it; so unhidden, Nephele was getting the benefit of seeing all of his various facial expressions, like difference between his misery and frustration and mischievous plotting. Although he was smart enough to keep exactly what he was scheming a secret. If she wanted to fight with logic then he would use some mental kung-fu right back at her. His face sunk deeper into false disappointment, because OH NO he had been out smarted and wouldn't make half a mark today at this rate! Not. Shaking his head and settling himself back into his chair he started with an apology, "I'm so sorry Nephele. How presumptuous of me to think that you needed relationship advice. I had nearly forgotten that girls like you don't have actual relationships," the statement was just as mean as it was sarcastic.
"So if you aren't here for advice, then you must be here because you just loveeeee me, because I think that just stopping by to laugh at my stall is just sooo petty, and I think very highly of you Nephele!"
He might as well have handed the girl a license to punch him right in the eye. At very least he would then have a mask to hide any bruises or swelling that would result. His cocky, wry little smile didn't win him any points either, even Pettahth knew nothing good ever came from his bonded coping such an attitude like this; the brown hated K'sel's self deprecations, but he was equally perturbed when the boy took his wicked tongue and unleashed it on others. Couldn't he just be a nice respectful boy? He managed so well half of the time... the dragon just wanted it to be one hundred percent. The brown made a light little bugle at the girl, graciously accepting her greeting before carrying on with his conversation with the young little green lady. I am well, but Nuoth, good thing hers mentioned the green's name, now he didn't have to ask for one himself, I apologize for my rider, he is being awfully rude, but I assure you he doesn't mean to.
The human counterpart was still being very defiant. Despite the fact that Nephele didn't address him, he was still going to interject, "I hope you know that Pettahth is free to be his own self. It's his life, he can be friends with whose ever dragon he wants, I won't interfere. That's what love is all about..." the last part he said a tad sarcastically. It was a line he had feed a few gullible souls earlier and they bought it hook line and sinker, so it was only natural for the words to come out again.

Nephele had a little smirk plastered on her face as she watched his expression, firmly believing she had won this time. Last time she had stomped off in a rage, this time she'd be walking away triumphant. Or so she thought until he retaliated. The apology caught her off guard. What? As he continued though she felt like a cold hand had clenched her insides. What did he mean 'girls like her'? He had no right to judge! Nuoth felt both the hurt and the intense anger leaking over from Hers causing her eyes to be flecked with yellow.
Pettahth's bugle went mostly unnoticed in her anger, although Nuoth made a point to respond. I think, the green started a bit hesitantly, that Mine is being just as bad, in her own way. The green fell silent at the turn in her rider's thoughts. The ideas were confusing the green and she looked at Pettahth with something a bit like alarm. Just what was going on between Theirs? There was an awful tense and angry atmosphere between the two. Nuoth caught Pettahth's comment about him being able to 'be his own self' even if Nephele ignored it completely. The green pondered it curiously. Why should he not by his own self?
Nephele very nearly shook with her anger. Only the mere power of her will kept her from trying to beat the snot out of the brownrider. He very much deserved a beating but no. Nephele would not lose this time around. She had a plan. A postively devilish plan. She'd throw him through a loop, she would. "Oh, K'sel," she said, staring into his eyes for the reaction. "You're so right. Since that day in the forest I just couldn't stop thinking about you." She was doing a fairly good job of acting, in her opinion. She had done lots of acting and playing. Nephele snaked an arm behind the brown weyrling's head and forced it lower. Her voice took on a sarcastic ring with just a hint of the anger simmering below the surface as she said, "I do love you." Then she did something even she didn't predict. She grinned and licked the bottom of K'sel's jaw. When she was done she smirked. "I charge for that, y'know."

Can somebody explain to me what just happened?
Wet, warm, saliva, cooled on his chin and left him frozen in place. He still played the events through in his head, and every time it made less and less sense until he decided to rewind all the way back to the initial catalyst. The words he had said to spur the whole event, how did they come back to bite him (or rather lick him). He recalled being quite pleased with himself at that moment, wait that didn't quite cover it...he was absolutely beside himself when he had inspired such ire not only out of her, but he saw flakes of emotion curl into the jeweled eyes of her bonded. This could only mean trouble, but K'sel was basking in it. That would teach the girl to try and make a mockery out of him, but very apparently she intended to get the last laugh, and he did not see it coming.
Pettahth did. Pettahth warned him. Nuoth tells me hers is being just as bad. Surely she is going to get you back for being so mean... but K'sel wasn't listening. He was watching her with his silty brown eyes, all at once welcoming of her slow advancements and leary of whatever tricks she had up her sleeve. Never trust her was the words of wisdom ringing in his head, but he actually wanted to believe her when she began to say the things she said, about how she couldn't keep herself away, it was the kinds of words his ego needed to hear once in a while. Especially since he hadn't felt so wanted in so long - he didn't want to give in and admit she was pulling a good old ruse.
If you were to ask him, he let Nephele get away with it, he allowed her to pull him down, but we all know the truth. The fact of the matter was that he was nothing but a warm blooded teenage male underneath all of that jaded, cynical, armor and even though her tongue came through and defeated him, he liked it, and he didn't even move to wipe the spit off.
And so we were brought full circle. Speechless he was, and staring at her. Even Pettahth had no commentary for the situation, and so the spaces were filled with a deafening silence as he gathered himself and was reassured that he didn't just wet his pants. He rumbled at her dryly...almost angrily, "The kissing booth is down there..." he pointed down the wide track of stalls and booths, he wanted to make some kind of witty remark about charging her for the licks or how tagging him with his tongue like some canine was oddly appropriate but none of that could come out! It was all a word salad, though a few words were decipherable including, "What is wrong with you!", "Kinky Weird Girl!", and "Ugh I hate you so much!" His dragon was alarmed, broadcasting quite clearly to everyone around, K'selmine! GET YOURSELF TOGETHER! You aren't even speaking in Pernese!

Glee. Utter and complete glee. Nuoth's eyes returned to a normal blue-green whirl as she felt only good emotion from her rider. The little green didn't quite understand why the lick had caused such a reaction from either of the weyrlings. Licks were used as a sign of affection in the green's mind and she was fairly certain that when Nephele had licked K'sel she was not feeling affection. Loathing perhaps...She was surprised by Pettahth's broadcast and felt distinctly sorry for how Hers had acted.
Nephele watched with amusement and something almost like pity as the brownweyrling froze. She released him from her semi-embrace but not before tapping the place she'd licked thoughtfully. Whatever had posessed her to do it was a genius. It worked amazingly well. She allowed K'sel a bit of space as she placed a hand on Nuoth's head lovingly. The green crooned both in adoration and slight confusion at the odd behaviour of Hers. The fact that K'sel hadn't fought it amazed Nephele though. She was sure that he'd have tried to get her off him. Immediately. But no, luck seemed to be on ehr side today.
Nephele looked in the direction K'sel pointed after he seemingly regained a bit of his higher brain functions. "So it is," she replied mildly. What fun was paying for a hug from some total stanger when she could stay here and antagonize K'sel more? At his rather incoherent word jumble she leaned on the stall curiously. The few she managed to catch were not particularily nice but rather amusing. The one about "I hate you" was especially amusing. A foreign voice in her mind made her jump and place a hand on Nuoth again. That was mostly certainly a male voice and it sounded anxious.
Guilt washed over her at last and she winced at Pettahth's words resounding in her head. She looked at the brown with something a bit like remorse. Okay, perhaps her little lick hadn't been quite as innocent as she expected if the brown was so alarmed. She refused to apologize despite her guilt. K'sel had been downright mean to her. It wasn't strictly her fault. Plus she had no way of knowing he'd react so badly. Nuoth crooned comfortingly to Hers and even the other weyrling pair.
Unfortunately the emotions surrounding the situation alerted Charming to his human's distress and he popped in. The brown dove to his girl's shoulder and crooned lovingly, rubbing her cheek gently. She was very upset! He peeped at K'sel as if demanding an explanation.

You're all in this together in some kind of evil conspiracy against me! He mentally accused his dragon. Pettahth was getting a bit old and getting a bit to big to tamper with anymore. At six months of age he wasn't keeping up with the size of the other browns, but he was still bigger than K'sel and he was slightly insulted by his rider laying any sort of blame onto him, but he could feel that it just came from feeling a bit hurt. What would have helped His much more than a lick would have been a good hug, Pettahth hadn't seen him get one in a while, but he knew that K'sel and Hypriceth's almost-hugged when they were dancing last gather and K'sel liked that very much. The brown made a few awkward movements towards his sweet, loving, K'sel and did his best to calm and comfort the boy by draping a wing over him and nudging his snout into the boy's cheek. Even though this would have felt nice when alone and or feeling weak, he didn't want public displays of dragon affection when he was busy trying to be angry! Gently he tried to unwrap himself from the dragon hug and continued to pout, "I don't want any licks from you either!"
You are being so difficult!
Pettahth got shot a dirty glance before he turned his attention back to Nephele again. What exactly was she doing still there? The weyrling was legitimately surprised to see her, and now that firelizard of hers had joined her - quietly he wondered where Eyesore went off to, we was willing to guess he was hiding alone watching from afar, which was a correct guess. Still, the question remained as what more damage could this girl do to him today. He had to know, by now she should have gotten her kicks and have hit the road. "You're still here. Why?"
He began to pile his things up, which shouldn't have taken long, it was nothing but a pad of parchment and some writing utensils to keep a running total of his profits. Then there was a few eighth mark pieces and the like he used as change too, but that quickly got shoveled back into his pocket. If she couldn't tell he had given up on his foray into relationship counseling for the day, or at least for a few hours, and he pulled out the "away for lunch" sign he had made the day before and set it on the table. He knew it was better to just walk away for awhile...well for his business that is. Nobody was going to approach as long as they heard Nephele and him squabbling anyway.
"Com'on," he said aloud to Pettahth, "unless you just want to lounge there by yourself." The dragon looked on with sadness welling up with big drops of gray floating about in the seas of what was once blue contentment, and K'sel ignored it as he lethargically stepped out from behind his table all the while staring down Nephele. He patted his pocket where he kept his marks, and sarcastically snapped, "Thank you for your patronage," but still he found that he wasn't walking away. It was almost like he enjoyed battling it out with her.

The strange dragon hug Pettahth attempted to administer to K'sel was oddly sweet and funny at the same time. It also cemented in Nephele's mind that the brown was a sweetheart even if His was a pain. Therefore when K'sel subsequently rejected the dragon's comforting embrace the girl shook her head but remained mute. She would never, ever do that to Nuoth. The green was her mindmate, her closest friend, and the ultimate confidant. The flow of loving thoughts between the two was fully mutual and the pair reveled in it.
Nephele gave Charming a scritch before K'sel's question hit her. To be fair, he had every right to ask that after her little stunt. The truth would sound incredibly lame if she said it...She honestly didn't know why she was still hanging about. Maybe it was because she had found something to amuse her, maybe it was for the simple companionship of another person. She remained quiet for a moment before answering. "Why not?" she countered. "I'm not in a rush to go anywhere in particular." While this was the truth it clearly wasn't a reason to actually stay near the brown weyrling.
Some part of her was disappointed that he was collecting his things with the clear intention to leave. So he was walking away from her this time? Charming chittered and swooped down to the table to nose at the sign that was put there with curiosity. He should try and take it, he should. He placed his front paws on it and gave it an experimental pull. He chirped happily as it moved and began to fly up with it. Look, look at him! His human was pointedly ignoring his display but maybe K'sel would notice?
Nephele winced at the words directed to the boy's brown. Hardly fair to deflect his anger at her onto Pettahth. Why look, his eyes were taking on a sad colouration. "You are a mean one, aren't you?" she said peevishly in return. Nuoth left Nephele's side to walk over to Pettahth and nuzzle him tentatively. The girl raised a brow as K'sel simply stood there. She was so tempted to repeat his earlier question mockingly. She just barely resisted. Then she noticed Charming performing one of his usual silly antics and grinned. "At least one of us has the attitude appropriate for this Gather."

Pettahth appreciated the attention he got from Nuoth, and the nudge was nice even if it wasn't as good as a pat on the head from His. The young dragon wanted to curl up next to the pretty, fresh faced green, but settled for creeping closer and sharing a small space with Nuoth, but he was still forever loyal to K'sel. That would never change, It is ok. Mine is just like this time to time, it is embarrassing, but I know he is sad even though he doesn't show it. The dragon made sure to justify K'sel's actions, because deep down the boy really was love-able, and maybe it didn't even matter if anybody else knew this, because he did and that is why Pettahth picked him! The brown was making it his personal goal to fix him, to take all of that negative energy and make him into something great; he had been rather successful so far, somehow K'sel was wingsecond of their weyrling class. Don't tell him that they had a small class though...that was irrelevant.
"No rush? You were in a rush when you stormed off in the jungle that day..." things were easier then. She was a candidate, and he could live well knowing that they weren't living anywhere near each other, and as far as he was concerned that safety could have lasted forever, but now they were both in the weyrling barracks, and there was another three months of run-ins and mistaken meets that could occur before he was in his own weyr. He didn't like those statistics.
I'm mean? MEAN!? He was smoldering at the suggestion, not really because of what it suggested - he really knew that he could be a jerk and he could be...not nice...but he wasn't mean for anything he had done! So what if he turned his head on his dragon, she didn't live with him! She didn't have to listen to the brown's demands and relentless harping about how he needed to succeed and be the best! It was like being bonded to his mother! "You're right, I am just so mean!" The bite was softened by the slight touch of disappointment that snuck into the words. He fed his dragon, oiled him regularly, the whole nine yards, and as soon as that little sandy colored brat was around others he played the victim. This was not his day.
"I'm a big meanie Nephele! A lowlife!" He was able to be more facetious this time around, and took a few exaggerated steps towards the girl, "And you shouldn't be hanging around me if...." he caught something out of the corner of his eye. Kill me now. He deadened his voice, his act ruined by the sight of his sign flying about. Eyesore appeared from between to rest on his head and squabble at the brown and flap his wings. Normally the blue wasn't one to make noise, but he didn't want to resort to bringing out his nails to stop what could be considered a friend. Furrowing a brow K'sel blandly said, "I want my sign back now."

Nuoth crooned quietly. NepheleHers had been kind of stange and embarrassing a few moments ago too, so the green understood somewhat. But...Hers had not called her to follow like some kind of canine. Nuoth did not comment her thoughts out loud. Instead she inquired curiously, Sad? The green didn't understand why the boy would be sad having been licked by Hers and prodded into anger. She was not connected to his mind as Pettahth was. He would obviously know best about His. The green saw nothing but anger from the brown's rider though.
Something like embarrassment flashed across Nephele's face. Indeed, she had been very quick to leave the scene of their first meeting. What was she to say about that behaviour? 'Why yes K'sel, you managed to get so far under my skin it made me want to go dive off the edge of the water fall' certainly wouldn't work. The greenweyrling considered her options. There weren't many. She settled for a shrug that she realized was a small defeat. There was no safe way for her to answer that one. She really had to deal with living in the barracks with this guy? She'd make a point of avoiding him.
Nephele was glad to get a rise out of K'sel for her comment. There. Being angry at her was better than being mad at Pettahth. Or perhaps she simply wanted the attention? His tone, however, was curiously mixed. At his approach Nephele hastily moved back a couple more steps than he had taken towards her. It was a mostly subconcious reaction to move away from angry men. A spark of fear may even have sparked in her eyes despite the tone of voice he was using. She made a point to thank Charming later with some kind of gift or other as he grabbed K'sel's attention.
The brown chittered in surprise and pleasure as Eyesore appeared. Charming fluted back in clear amusement at Eyesore's...threat? He hadn't expected the blue to step in. Nephele watched the interaction curiously. Could another flitter be used to discourage Charming? Eyesore was at least doing a good job of it. The brown was a little like his human in the fact that he wanted the last laugh. Instead of simply putting down the sign he fluttered over to Eyesore and gave him the sign. It had evidentally become something of a gift. "I think you'll have to ask your flitter to get it for you." Nephele had no doubt that Charming would not give her the sign.

Mine is very odd, the dragon tried to explain it to the green but it was really something that couldn't be put into words. Or at least the words of the youngster brown. In time his eloquence would allow for a better expression of what he truly meant to say, but for now things were kept brief and short. If he were to ramble on the subject of K'selhis then he would confuse himself, and that would be no good, he feels one way but acts another. I don't know if other humans do this. The dragon lowered his head and settled into his spot, ready to sleep. His was just as stubborn as he was, and he could tell that K'sel was not really meaning to go anywhere at all, I think Mine lied when he said those mean things. Not only to Nephele, but mostly to himself, and if he kept this up then somebody was going to get hurt.
Although he noticed her aversion to her - the two steps she took back for the two that he made - the weyrbred boy didn't think much of it. Having lived a rather secluded life at Selenitas, where they would snootily turn their nose up and away from the dealings of the north, he had forgotten what a cruel world it could be for girls outside of their little southern world. Shards he had forgotten that Nephele wasn't exactly a native herself, and didn't translate her movements as being laced with fear. What exactly was there to be afraid of K'sel for anyway? He was just a fellow weyrling...a fellow weyrling that had killed a foreign rider by throwing a knife into his neck, and who had a tendency to pick fights when he was drunk....but those were all extenuating circumstances. Circumstances that she didn't know about.
His attention was mostly devoted to the firelizards and retrieving his sign. Eyesore wasn't exactly trained, K'sel always hoped for the best when it came to the blue flitter's actions and it seemed to work out well; he was never in the way, didn't make any noise, and was around when you needed him. So here was to hoping that Eyesore would pick up on his pet's needs, but luckily that wasn't needed. Charming brought the sign to Eyesore. Success! Kind of. The miniscule sized lizard was more than happy to take the prize in his claws, and bounced off his nice little perch in they weyrling's wavy dark hair to return the sign to it's rightful owner. But the driftwood sign was too heavy for his tiny body, and he began to sink in the air...and sink fast...so he dropped the dinky plank at his owner's feet and flickered between (or flew off, sometimes it was hard to tell with how scarily fast the little guy was).
K'sel picked it up and immediately started to unconsciously wield it like a weapon, held in his hand with a hammergrip and kept to his side as he sulkily looked at Nephele, eyebrow still twirked into irritation. He took what looked like a few steps closer again, but he was really only meaning to walk past her and go off to find the stall where they sell food, and if possible he would waste his marks to start hoarding large reserves of wine. If only they sold wine in a box...he'd have stockpiles hidden in his room...his roomate wouldn't bother it. He leveled his gaze on the girl, "Anyway, tell Charming thank you for giving Eyesore the sign back," and then he stupidly brought the sign up to face level, shaking it to indicate what he was talking about. Probably a bad idea, but that never occurred to him. He was really ready to go on his way, "Since I'm such a mean one...."

Nuoth listened politely but was unable to understand much better with an explanation. Hers had yet to show her two-facedness around most guys. For whatever reason K'sel drew out some of the real Nephele despite being a guy. Nuoth was surprised to hear Pettahth voice his idea that His had lied. Lie or not, Nuoth could feel the hurt feelings being supressed in Hers. Why she felt the need to hide them from other people Nuoth didn't quite understand yet. Nephele could be very open at times and yet still close off one or more parts of herself the the green. Nuoth, in a show of hatchling trust and innocence, curled up next to Pettahth comfortably and couldn't stay awake. She could be up in a moment if Hers needed her....
Nephele noticed how Nuoth had not become worried over her fear. Good, she had managed to block enough of it that her dragon may remain comfortably snuggled up against Pettahth. The green next to the larger brown made her smile tentatively. The light thud of an object hitting the ground reminded the girl that showing too much of what she felt at the moment was pretty unwise. She looked back to find out she had missed the action between the firelizards. Charming seemed a bit disturbed though.
Charming had been well pleased to have Eyesore accept the sign but he should have realized that it might be too heavy for the smaller blue. The chocolate coloured brown chirped in alarm as Eyesore began to be pulled down by the weight. The blue wasn't stupid though. He had sense enough to drop it and the brown trilled forlornly as the blue departed. The older brown looked over to where Misfit sat on his human's shoulder and chirped at him. He would come snuggle, yes? Misfit nuzzled Nephele once before fluttering over to Nuoth with Charming. Nephele didn't know what to make of Nuoth drifting off with her two flitters soon to follow. They had left her more or less alone with K'sel. Oh joy.
Upon looking at him again, Nephele became alert and worried again. He didn't look happy and now he had the sign clenched in his hand almost threateningly. He was even approaching her. The symmetry between this time and that other time were a bit too close for comfort. The sign rose to head height and Nephele's arm came up as well, hand curled into a shaky fist. She took a swing at his face inexpertly. She was clearly not a fighter.
At the same moment her fear hit its peak Nuoth snapped awake, the two firelizards chittered anxiously. Nephelemine! What is wrong? Whirling yellow eyes gazed at the tableau that was her rider. She had frozen after withdrawing her arm and stood staring at K'sel. What..what had she done? She had actually raised a hand - or attempted to - against another person? She was in for it now.

Whether she was a seasoned fighter or have never raised her fist before made no difference when K'sel wasn't expecting it. He didn't even have time to flinch, but he took the shot like a champ; stumbling backwards a step but remaining on his feet. The sign hit the ground again with a thud as his hands habitually flung up to cover his face. For a moment his whole head was numb...where did she hit him? Where? He cautiously felt around for blood or a welt, all the while viciously grumbling into his hands, his profanities muffled by his palms. He claimed he didn't believe in Faranth, but he sure was throwing around her name alot and in the most disrespectful ways, before revealing his face again, a few drops of blood leaking out - he was sniffling to try and hide this fact - but from the looks of things nothing was broken for the exception of maybe his pride and ego. The brownweyrling had no idea what to think, all he could do was yell at her, "WHAT DID YOU DO THAT FOR?!"
He was retreating! Why didn't she let him get away? Was it that stupid sign? He looked down at the piece of driftwood scraps that was face down in the dirt of the fairway, "Did you think I was going to hit you?" He still asked this in a relatively elevated voice, if anything it sounded stretched out and thin compared to his usual low tone, but that is what tended to happen when he was exasperated so. He was almost insulted if that was the case. He was a jerk. This was a fact. But he didn't go around beating up girls that he didn't like. However, if that wasn't the reason why she lashed out at him, he couldn't fathom why. Punching him in the face....who does that?
K'sel wiped away some blood again. Would yelling "I hate you" even be necessary at this point? Pettahth felt it too...much much duller in his his own freckled snout, and he was shocked! He snapped his head over to face Nuoth in one swift action, and he gruffly addressed her not unlike his rider would What did Yours do that for! He wasn't mad at the green, but like any dragon he was innately concerned for his bonded and thought nothing of letting a little bit of K'sel's agitation bleed into his own words. However, the brown did manage to stay laying down, despite his curiosity, K'sel what is that red stuff coming out of your nose? Will you be ok? He knew his place in the world, and he was no healer.

Nephele was beginning to wonder if K'sel had slow reflexes. A lick and a punch without a reaction from him until after the fact. The alarmed thoughts coming from Nuoth didn't help placate the girl's still slightly remaining fear. Has she been at Benden when she tried that...She huddered to think of the consequences there. Yet...despite outwardly shrinking from his voice she was surprised anew that she was unharmed. Well, physically at least. Her fun had ended though. And again it seemed she'd be walking away the loser in some way or another. Clearly Faranth found making her life miserable very amusing.
Nephele froze at his question. His voice sounded accusatory to her ears. Well, what other reason would she have hit him? Still, she had to get used to men approaching her without meaning harm. Sad to say, but that was something she simply was not accustomed to. So far no one at Selenitas had meant her harm but it was an ingrained thing with her to distrust men. A raised item in hand was a sign of danger to her. So for that matter, was any raised hand. She settled for a simple nod to answer his question. He could yell at her back for all she cared at that point. The girl turned to walk away. She had been winning too.
Nuoth started at Pettahth's voice. She flicked him gently with her tail, her version of a human's "hold on one second" signal. Nephelemine? The green prodded gently. The girl responded with a quick reassuring thought that didn't totally calm Nuoth. She had been against searching Nephele's mind for the past, hoping that the girl would share willingly instead. Needs must though! A quick search through Hers' memories left the green more understanding of why Hers had overreacted. The green crooned to settle the firelizards before turning back to Pettahth. Nephelemine was...scared. She didn't intend to hurt Yours in a mean way.
