Eros glanced at the large man and took a moment away from his food to hiss at him. Why was he eating the food his slave had brought for him? And why was the giant talking about him? Didn't he know it was rude? The blue glared at Ivy - since obviously this was her fault for not correcting the large man - and then went back to his food. He was too hungry to be bothered with these things right now.
Ivy jumped slightly when Cainith sat at the table, his weight causing it to creak and move. Blinking a few times and giving a soft shake of her head to help wake up a bit more she looked over at him. A weary smile was offered to the man and she noticed immediately he lacked his 'mandyr. Of course it was hard not to notice, since had he been there she was likely to be hearing about how unworthy she was of the 'Goddess'. Chuckling a bit to herself her smile became a tad more lively.
"Prissy isn't the only word I'd use for him, but yes. He seems to think he deserves all of my attention and devotion all the time. Too bad he couldn't be more like Rollhead, I don't think I'd mind something worshiping me for a change. Where is he anyway?" Her voice was quiet, and she spoke slowly - she was tired after all. She really just wanted to sleep.

I see you, before I ever knew you, before I ever knew you... I dreamed of you... I dreamed of you, yeah… You’re a stormy night, thunder crashing... Mystery, full of passion... Quiet as a Sunday morning, change without any warning... Love has a thousand faces, love has a thousand faces... Eros chirruped happily as he swooped into the dining hall and claimed a table for himself - and his slave of course. His hide was gleaming and very healthy looking, and as a very tired looking Ivy came shuffling in it was obvious why. The slender Blue had been so upset about her lack of attention lately (as if it were her fault she was making more friends and had lessons and chores!) that he'd bugged her ALL NIGHT until she finally gave in. A long bath, a long scrub, and a long and even oiling - only then did Eros finally stop his squawking at the young woman. Before she could close her eyes and sleep though he began to complain for a new reason... he was hungry. So here the pair were far too early in the morning (or very very late at night, depending on who you asked), Ivy looking completely worn out and Eros looking just chipper as ever. He deserved care like this every day, maybe his slave would remember next time and he could let her rest. Only if she was good though. Perched in the middle of an empty table he chirruped and flashed images of meatrolls and bubbly pies to the girl. How could he even know about the pies?! Its not as if they were overly common in the Weyr, in fact the last time she'd had one was at the Hyphen Gather. Shaking her head she frowned, "No pies, they don't have any." WHAT? Why wouldn't they have any? Couldn't his slave make him some? He wanted some, they looked so delicious! The Green that had shown him them seemed to think so too. He must have some! He must! Another shake of her head, "Eros, NO." Sulking a bit he squawked again but decided he'd make her get him pies next time. She was obviously just cranky since she was tired. So he curled up and waited for her to get him some of those yummy meat rolls. Hurry it up please, kthx. Dipping into the kitchens Ivy batted her weary eyes at the nearest drudge - which was a very masculine looking woman, but at this hour Ivy just didn't care. Her goal was to feed the annoying thing back in the dining hall and get some sleep before she needed to be up for chores. Grabbing two plate fulls of meat rolls with the drudge's insistence they wouldn't be missed (after all, it was only the wherhandlers up this late and they were almost all on patrol right now) she winked and headed back to the table her Blue was curled up on. Standing, Eros eyed the offerings and turned some over with his tail before deciding they were acceptable. Grabbing one he took it to the edge of the table furthest away from Ivy to eat it. "You are so strange." Ivy sat down and propped her elbow onto the table, head resting on her left hand. Her fiery hair was pulled back behind her head in a runner-tail, the tip of which tickled against the back of her neck, just a few finger lengths beneath her shoulder line. Stray bangs had come loose and framed her tired face. Blue eyes began to dip closed and she felt herself starting to doze off in her seat.

Tavis opened his eyes at the voice above him and was met with the vision of an older woman. An older, curvy woman. True her curves might be due to her overall weight - but its not like the 16 turn minded that. He was just happy to be woken up by a friendly voice instead of that harpy Elisabeta. Just thinking of the Candidatemaster made him shudder a bit as he sat up. A light flush colored his cheeks as he did his best to make eye contact instead of staring at... ahem, certain areas of the woman's anatomy. Shaking his head, his curly black hair bounced a bit around his ears and he offered a shy, somewhat nervous smile.
"No ma'am, not a runner. And no on the chores shirking as well. Was just resting my eyes for a moment." His flushed cheeks turned a tinge darker at the insinuation he was trying to get out of his chores. Did he really look like he was lazy? "Name's Tavis, am I in your way?"
Standing up he brushed the straw off his clothes and stretched. Right hand stole up to tousle his hair to make sure there wasn't any straw clinging in his curls before he shoved his hands in his pockets and gave another shy smile.

Ivy giggled and looked up at him curiously when he flipped around so she didn't hit the ground. When he said he had agreed to carry her to the barracks she almost protested, but then decided it was better not to argue. So instead she smiled and relaxed in his arms, letting him carry her off.
"Thanks. But if you get tired let me know, I can walk you know."
That said the redhead enjoyed the ride in the larger man's arms. She had never been carried around before - it was kind of nice.

Wriggling her toes against the rock - not that he could see them in the darkness - she chuckled a bit, "I suppose I should let you carry me. Bare feet probably aren't going to grip well on the rocks."
When he moved away from the mouth of the cave she slipped out and stretched as best she could without falling off the shallow ledge, "Though I don't think I'm small... you're just really large."
Rocking up onto her tip toes she put her arms around his neck and scurried up his back. Thighs pressed against his sides as she did her best to keep herself secure to his back. Her head peeked over his shoulder, some of her red hair brushing against his cheek and neck. Smiling she said softly, "I'd love to get to know you Cainith. Dinner sounds lovely."
He was much different than the men she normally 'dated' (and by dating let's be honest, she usually skipped dinner and went straight to bed with them). But he seemed nice enough, and since he wasn't like the other Northerners who'd invaded Selenitas... she felt she could trust him. She certainly was right now anyway, with her life even as he prepared to climb down with her on his back. Hopefully he was as strong and skilled a climber as he said he was.

Another heavy sigh sounded from Tavis before he decided he may as well get the green 'mandyr back to his room in the barracks. Wait - hadn't he been headed somewhere before he got caught up in this mess? Oh well, it didn't matter. The small injury he'd been going to the infirmary for had stopped bleeding and hurting by now anyway. The only thing that did hurt was his head. Between everyone and their brother being crowded in around the eggs and then half of them fighting, plus the multiple images he was getting flashed into his head along with Apima's endless random prattling and insistence that she indeed DID belong on his ear... Rubbing his temples he closed his eyes a moment. Opening them back up he turned on his heel and made a bee-line in the opposite direction. He'd already accidentally added a pet to his life, he wasn't about to risk another one deciding his other ear was a good place to be too.
-----------------------------------------------------
Indeed the egg had been moving, she noticed as she resumed staring at the remaining few. Then, more movement! An eye! Oh how exciting! Smiling she watched as a white salamandyr appeared from one of the eggs, and then a blue. The redheaded woman almost reeked of desperation at this point, biting her full bottom lip as she anxiously watched the two hatchlings. But alas, they chose their new bondeds - neither of which was her. The final egg had legs now and was wandering around, she noted as she watched it.
Eros nipped her ear lightly - had she already forgotten about him? It was time to eat! Not time to watch eggs and crazy people. The slender Blue decided his slave was useless to him at the moment - hopefully later she could prove her worthiness and he'd grace her with his presence once more. For now though... He eyed the bowls of meat, some of which had gone untouched. There was only one egg left, did it really need all of those bowls for itself? Hopping down off of Ivy's shoulder he glided down to the floor - keeping as much distance as possible between himself and the salamandyrs as he slowly crept closer to the nearest bowl. Reaching out he grabbed it with one taloned foot and began hopping backwards, dragging it along with him. Hm. See? He didn't need his slave for this! He would eat and then go find some ledge to sun on and let her think about how horrid she'd been to him. Hmph.
Already used to her firelizard's often dramatic antics - it was if he thought she was his slave or something - she ignored him. Instead her attention was split between the men to her right and the egg wandering off to her left. Still biting her bottom lip she decided she might as well do what she could in regards to the situation. Even if it was almost diffused by now. Slipping past a few others she found herself next to Cainith and she slid her arm around his free one and gave a gentle squeeze. The boy had been put down but Cainith for one still looked fairly annoyed, "So, tell me about your new salamandyr - what's it like? They talk right? Do they talk a lot? I've heard they're horrid creatures but they look so cute!"
Cue what she was best at. Distraction and flirting. Blue eyes batted lightly as she looked up at the much larger man, standing up on her tip toes to try and get a better look at his new pet.

The hallway exploded into activity around him and while he was distracted watching a particular young man make a fool of himself - he found himself the perch for a small Green. He hadn't even been paying attention to the clutch, when had they hatched anyway? And now he was being perched upon and petted by a crooning little gooey thing.
Mine. Meat. Goo. Run. Love.
Why did these sorts of things happen to him? Bad enough he was a Candidate here, now he had this thing on him.
Mine. Meat. Goo. Run. Love.
It repeated itself in that emotionless singsong tune mindvoice it had. Reaching up he plucked it off his ear and held it out in front of him. "I... don't want you."
Mine. Meat. Goo. Run. Love.
Apparently repetition was a thing for it - her, as he noticed it was a Green. Hm. Green salamandyr. He'd never had a pet, his father refused to get him a firelizard and they were very very uncommon at Lighttower.
Mine. Meat. Goo. Run. Love.
She... wasn't shutting up, was she? Blasted all, now he'd have to name her. Since it was apparent she wasn't going away. Crawling up his arm back to his shoulder she once more curled her long tail around his ear and hung there, petting his cheek and crooning.
Mine. Meat. Goo. Run. Love.
"Alright! Alright! I get it already. You're obviously hungry. And gross." He declared, bending over to grab some of the meat from one of the bowls that had been set out. Holding it up for her the delicate little Green nibbled on the meat happily - taking her time to eat instead of gobbling it up foolishly like her blue clutch-brother had done. A heavy sigh sounded from Tavis and he closed his eyes trying to think. More commotion and almost chaos exploded just a few feet away from him in the hall so he side stepped a few times further away from that lot. Last thing he needed was a punch to miss the prat who started everything and hit him instead somehow. Or for one of the firelizards or 'mandyrs to maul him on accident. He had enough on his plate now with this pain in his arse. Hm... That gave him an idea for a name... "Apima."
The Green trilled and flared her small frills out so they rubbed against his jawline as she continued to eat - apparently she was quite happy with his choice.
------------------------------------------------
While Ivy was somewhat interested in what the dimglows around her were doing, well one dimglow - the others didn't seem to be quite as stupid as he was - her main focus was on the clutch. Sure she glanced around, blushing ever so slightly when she saw Cainith. And sure she made sure she was far enough away from the group causing all the commotion to avoid being involved. But really she was here for the clutch, not for the entertainment being provided by the miscreants around her.
Blue eyes watched the little blue salamandyr hatching struggle for awhile to get out of his shell before he finally made it. She grinned and silently cheered the hatchling on, hoping it would come to her. Unfortunately it did not, instead it made its way to Cainith. Figures it'd go there first, after all he was the largest thing around. Focus went to the green, since she'd missed who she went to. At first she didn't see her anywhere but then noticed Tavis pluck her off his... ear? What a strange place for that little one to be.
Listening to the others - mainly Cainith and Tavis - she overheard the names they picked. Rollhead? Realllyyyy? Eyes rolled as she heard Cainith's choice for his new pet's name. Then Tavis said his aloud. Apima. Hm. That was different, though she kind of liked it as well.
The eggs seemed fairly still now - though wait did that one just move? Before she could better focus on it her attention was ripped away as Caden threw her two cents out there in regards to the fighting going on. Waiiiit, was Cainith holding that young man up by his head? Funny, the things you miss when you've got tunnel vision on something else. When the Goldweyrling walked off Ivy simply arched a brow at the men. She'd been about to say something to them but was interrupted when Eros arrived.
He hadn't shown up to help defend the three eggs left in the clutch. Of course not, what purpose would it serve him? No - he was here for an entirely different reason. Just what did his Ivyslave think she was doing? She knew it was time for him to eat, and since he had been unable to seduce a Bronze or Brown into killing him a decent meal he needed her to get food. It wasn't as if he was about to dirty up his claws and maw doing the killing himself. Heaven forbid. Long whip-like tail thrashed back and forth - much like a feline's does when its annoyed at something - and he landed on his slave's shoulder. Would she please stop this foolishness? What would she want one of those for? She had him. Or rather he had her. And he was perfect. She should be grateful he was letting her take care of him and be his.

Yellow. Tserieth passed this information on to her bonded quickly and trilled when she realized Roselle had grabbed the flag and finished her task.
I think that went well.
Of course it did. Tserieth replied, a bit of an annoyed edge to her voice. She was trying to think of another question. Listening to her clutch-brother she closed her eyes and hummed to herself. Think think think. Opening her eyes they swirled a light green and blue as she looked up at the larger and older Brown.
Are any of us this color? She looked at her clutch-siblings. Brown. Green. Blue. Well, if it was the same color as one of them then that would certainly make their job easier guessing it, wouldn't it?
Its more likely the color is not one of your colors. Roselle chimed in. The Green just ignored her - if she wasn't going to be helpful her opinion didn't matter.

"I don't intend to spend the night in this cave Cainith..." Her voice was soft, and she blushed in the dark when his massive hand lighted upon her thigh.
Eros. Please bring me a glow?
Ivy did her best to reach out to her Blue, but she knew it was unlikely he'd come. He'd helped out once tonight, it was doubtful he'd come to her aid again - ever. So she settled down, sitting on a rocky ledge in the small cave and getting comfortable. As comfortable as she could at least being in a cramped cave with very little light, who knew what kind of crawlies might be in there, oh and with someone she only barely knew squeezed in fairly close. Lovely night this was turning out to be.
Despite her cramped surroundings, and the fact she had thought she'd be back in the barracks and sleeping by now, she found herself thinking of the kiss she and the older man had just shared. Surprisingly enough he was quite a good kisser, though his beard did tickle a bit. Cheeks flushed even more as she lingered on how it felt to have his facial hair brushing against her chin and cheeks. How his large, soft lips had felt against hers...
A few silent moments passed and she glanced to his form, not that she could make out his feature since he was blocking most of the moonlight. "I... I want to apologize for kissing you like that. We hardly know each other... I was just attempting to make it look like we were out here for a different reason."

They were kissing.
They were kissing and moving.
They were kissing and moving and now on a cliff.
Was Cainith out of his mind?! Eyes went wide and when he finally pulled away from the kiss - apparently she hadn't thought to herself, the realization brought a blush to her cheeks - she scowled. She would have swatted him if she felt safe letting go, which she didn't at this point and time. "What are you doing?" She practically hissed out at him in a quiet voice.
What was he doing? They could have just pretended to make out on the beach. Regardless of who it was coming up the beach towards them, they would have likely been scolded a bit and sent back to the barracks. No harm there. But now, now the giant man was climbing a sharding cliff with Ivy clinging to him. Talk about over-reacting much?
Eros appeared again next to them, hovering in the air and chirruping quietly. His tone was a harsh one, and seemed to be directed at Cainith rather than Ivy. What did that man thing think he was doing? He had better not drop his slave girl! He had only warned her someone was coming so she'd leave the beach and come back to rub him with oil like she did every night. How could she have forgotten him? It was the giant man's fault, obviously. Though now he was also chittering at Ivy, scolding her for missing his nightly oil rub-down. Honestly, did she want the Blue to get a dry hide?
Chittering done - since it seemed he was mostly being ignored and Ivy was glaring at him - he disappeared once more. Like he always does. Appear to remind Ivy she's neglecting his needs then disappear. Ivy looked away from the empty space that Eros had just occupied and looked back up at Cainith. "Where are we going?!"

Ivy smile widened as he gave a laugh, "Aye, I'm surprised the headwoman hasn't banned you from the kitchens."
Toes wriggled in the soft sand of the riverside beach and she shivered a bit, the cool breeze coming off the water causing goosebumps along her bare arms. Scooting a bit closer to Cainith she looked up at him, "I can't speak for Kaegan, I don't know if she'd be willing to see you or not. Can't hurt to try though, can it?"
Eros appeared overhead and landed on Ivy's bent knee. Chirruping he flashed her a blurry image of a dragonrider headed their way - it was one of the Wasteland riders. An eyebrow arched in the Blue's direction, surprised he was actually being helpful (for almost the first time in his life). Before she could thank him the firelizard disappeared between. "According to Eros we have company coming."
Her voice was soft and low, not wanting the rider to hear her. It wasn't as if they were doing anything wrong - at least nothing that was obvious. Still, it may seem a bit suspicious. Two candidates talking in hushed tones away from everyone else at night? Thinking quickly as she heard the rider's soft steps growing nearer she leaned up, wrapped an arm around Cainith's neck and kissed him - deeply. Sure they may get in trouble for being out here, but at least the rider would assume they just came out here to fool around.

While many wouldn't give Ivy the credit of being a good listener, she in fact was. Sitting there she didn't say a word, just nodded briefly while he spoke. Closing her eyes for a moment when she opened them back up she saw he was staring at her intently. "I don't know why you're asking me, I have no real pull with any of the riders outside of the bedroom at least. I'm sure if you went to Kaegan though..."
The sentence trailed off into the night as she diverted her gaze back to the river. She understood what he meant about people thinking less of him - assuming he was simple minded and easy to manipulate... after all that's how most probably viewed her. How many turns had she spent in the Weyr bedding random dragonriders in hopes to be Searched? When really she could have stood anytime since she was in Selenitas - nice of them to never mention that until after one of the Greens declared she should be a Candidate. Idly she wondered if the Green had really felt she was worthy of Impressing - certainly she had her doubts since she'd been left on the sands without a dragon at Millieth's last clutch - or if her rider had implored her dragon to "search" Ivy to keep her out of her Blue weyrmate's bed. Ah yes, she was all too familiar with being used - though she was used for her body in a different way than he was.
A soft sigh finally sounded from the young woman as she looked over at Cainith again, "I'm sorry for the way I reacted after we met. It was unfair of me to not talk to you and just assume you're like the others."
Reaching out she gently touched his large hand with her much smaller one and offered a soft smile. "I should have known better. After all, everything about you is so different compared to anyone else I've met."

"Before they impressed? Ha! Z'ves and his merry band of Wastelanders waited until after they'd impressed to do it. Probably to inflict even more pain and suffering on the Selenitas people." Her tone had softened a bit, she could see his eyes even in the dim light and she believed him when he said he didn't know. He'd even admitted to having very few friends, so it was unlikely he would have been told the truth - by Wastelanders, or heard much about it from people in Selenitas. Obviously he'd missed the hatching as well.
For a moment she felt bad, she hated telling him that the people he'd lived with were cold blooded killers and liars to boot. But he deserved to know. "Cainith... I'm sorry you had to find out this way. At least now you know why I reacted the way I did when you mentioned where you were from."

He'd happened upon the lot of them by accident really. Yes he'd heard the annoying little Gold's announcement - but he was on the way to the infirmary and he had no real interest in picking up annoying creatures. They were not practical or useful. Yet here he was, being stopped because they were right there.
Tavis stopped just short of accidentally stepping on one of the eggs - he probably didn't realize how lucky he was he had avoided doing so - and he looked at the man standing there then the Gold thing sitting in the middle of the eggs.
"What is that?", he asked Dmitri - he'd seen salamandyrs from a distance but had yet to actually encounter one or inquire about them.
------------------------------------------------
Ivy had a bounce to her step - which was noticeable higher up on her as well - as she made her way out of the infirmary. She'd just dropped off some of the dried herbs she had stocked up on. The redheaded Candidate was having a rather nice day, one which got even better when she heard the little Gold's announcement.
Come unworthies! Babies take pity and make worthy, maybe. Meat here. Come only. Come if dare.
She'd heard news that there was a salamandyr hatching somewhere in the Weyr, and apparently it was ready to hatch! Smile widened and her pace picked up, only to be met by a happy surprise when she almost ran into the clutch as she headed towards the main hall.
Careful to avoid stepping, kicking, or otherwise touching the eggs she gave a polite nod to the little Gold, "Hello there clutch mother, I hope one of your little ones finds me worthy. It is a lovely clutch."
Her voice was rather bubbly as she spoke to the salamandyr, then her eyes lifted and she saw a familiar face - another Candidate. "Hello Tavis, are you excited for the little mandyrs as well?"

Quiet as he spoke she didn't look at him, instead she focused on the river snaking by. When he was done speaking she turned her head slightly so she could glance over at him.
"I didn't take you for an idiot Cainith. No bloodshed? Really? You believed that? How long have you been here anyway? Surely you heard about what they did at the last hatching..." Her voice was bitter and hard - a tone she very rarely had use for. "They killed the hatchlings that were different... and one of the girls who'd just impressed, so her hatchling would between."
Looking away again, her face was set in a scowl. "I have a hard time believing you didn't know... or that you weren't involved."
