Rajnith was sleeping later than normal. Granted, the Green always slept late (Ten had been tardy to lessons on more than one occasion), but this was extraordinary. Rukbat had nearly reached its zenith, beating sunlight straight down into the canyon and reflecting brutally off the river. It was precisely one year after Rajnith's hatching, down to the day; the green had been extra difficult and demanding for exactly one week, her glow increasing daily. Ten knew what was coming.
That didn't mean she had to like it. She'd basically been in seclusion for the past week, unable to face anyone with a male dragon without blushing furiously and running away. That had been just fine with Rajnith, who had spent all of her time in the company of others snarking and picking at their appearance, their personality, their ability to swim - anything and everything, without even her usual backhanded charm. She'd made more than a few enemies over the past seven days, troublesome relationships the Green had no interest in maintaining, but now felt obligated to. They weren't worth her time. The pair had left their weyr daily for approximately three hours, during which Ten fully bathed and oiled Rajnith with the special lavender scented oil the pair had discovered, then snuck into the kitchens to stuff a sack full of enough food to last her the night. Rajnith had been hunting once, without Ten's company. And that was that.
She'd been on edge all week, but something about today was special. Ten knew, deep in her gut, that today was the day, and there wasn't anything she could do about that. What she really wanted to know now was something useful, like what should she wear? No one thought to mention such simple things. Something pretty or attractive? But she'd heard of clothes getting damaged or torn during flight, and she didn't want to ruin her best dress. A nightgown? But it was the middle of the day. Something comfortable and practical? But then she wasn't pretty, and that was important to attract the males, right? So far, she hadn't changed out of a comfortable, silky tank top and knee-length skirt, but clothes spread out on the bed all around her meant she was obviously still considering.
What she was really doing was trying to keep herself from thinking about what happened towards the end of the flight. The fact that she'd barely even been kissed was enough to bring color to her cheeks, not to mention the rest of it. All of her pets had sensed her discomfort and two out of four had flocked to their mistress; Grip was curled around her neck in a near choke-hold, and Ugly Duckling flopped heavily in her lap. The swan had to be nearly full-sized by now, and Ten could feel pins and needles starting in her crossed legs. Cujo had joined Big Brother in the hall, where one blue was sending Ten a constant feed and the other was growling slightly and prepared to savage anyone who disturbed them - her own personal security system. Too bad there was no one out there, she could have used some distraction.
Shifting to ease the pressure on her legs, Ten squinted, light suddenly in her eyes. The sunlight was reflecting off the river below at such an angle that the yellow smears on Rajnith's hide turned a blinding gold, and light bounced off her faceted eye, open and whirling a royal purple in the sudden brightness. With a half sympathetic look for her rider, the tubby Green launched, unfurling her over-large wings with a snap of sails. Two strokes took her above the canyon wall, circling slowly like a bird of prey.
Ten met Rajnith's glance, transfixed; but as soon as the Green launched, the spell was broken, and the weyrling dumped Ugly Duckling on the bed, unwound Grip, and bolted. Flight rooms, flight rooms - why hadn't she thought to go there earlier? Two blue shadows followed her down the hall, but a feeling she'd never, ever felt was rising up in her. As Rajnith gained more control, Tenlie slowed down, her posture straightening and her nose rising with every step. By the time she reached the flightroom's door and turned to address her shadows, her voice held more authority than she thought possible. "Both of you are to return to our weyr and remain there until I come for you. Thank you for your service." Probably more shocked than anything, both Big Brother and Cujo went between without thinking. Tenlie then entered the room, finally, and took a seat on the edge of the bed, her posture that of a queen on a throne, perfectly ready to judge her supplicants and choose the one most worthy of her attention.
I expect gifts for me or Mine, Rajnith stated, her broadcast wide. She gave a little extra push in the direction of males she or Hers liked particularly, but did not discriminate. Everyone was... invited? Do not believe you stand a chance if you are unprepared. I await your presence, she added, settling on the Western wall with wings flared, a true queen ruling over her domain. Come, slaves~

Dhavalth was coiled up tightly on his ledge, contorted in weird ways as only he was able. "I always wonder how you manage that," Jazheera commented in passing. She had a towel wrapped around her hair as she walked over to check on her salamandyr. She smiled softly to see little Tod still asleep before returning to Dhavalth's side. "Is it even comfortable like that?" The blue squirmed for a moment before poking his head out of somewhere completely unexpected and snorted.
What makes you think that this would make me so much as blink? Jazz just shook her head, removing the towel that contained her wet hair to let it spill down her back. It would be easier to brush as it was. She grabbed a thick brush and began dragging it through her waist length hair. It was something of a pain to keep but she liked it all the same. Or maybe part of it was being stubborn and refusing to cut it just because it was easier to manage under a helmet. She was finishing the task of brushing it when Dhavalth shifted and became alert.
"What's up, Dhav?" It is sister Rajnith's time to Rise, and I intend to try for the prize, he informed his rider simply. Jazz blinked in surprise, not comprehending right away. Rise, prize, what? The lust rolling through the bond made it clear a moment later and Jazz's eyes widened in slight. "Oh." Eloquent. "Wait, Dhav!" he paused but she knew it wasn't from her command. He wouldn't be listening to her for the next little while. A gift? He could do that. But what would be fitting for such a lovely green?
He thought of an idea and - snatching His up quickly - launched off the ledge to collect his gift. Of course! Only those would do. He should have thought of the gift a few days ago, when Rajnith had begun to insult the may he walked, or maybe when she commented on his speech.... It should have been obvious she was proddy. Well, he'd make it up to his ex-roommate. Dhavalth flew to a nearby field but not before informing Rajnith that he intended to join her in the skies. I shall Fly with you once I acquire a gift sure to woo, he told the green confidently - perhaps overly confident?
It was not in Dhavalth's nature not to be confident though. He had His help him collect his gift. She was far too surprised to complain much and she'd do most anything for her blue anyways. When Dhavalth was satisfied he grabbed His and flew back to his ledge as fast as he could. Must not keep Rajnith waiting too long or he'd be left behind. He left Jazz to find her way to the flightrooms while he went to bring his gift to Rajnith. He landed on the Western wall and approached slowly but proudly. He layed his offering on the ground for heer to see, though he kept his paw on it so it wouldn't blow away. Flowers. You are by far the most beautiful flower, but I hope these allow me to show my power.
Jazz was making a mad dash to the flightroom where she knew Tenlie was, growling faintly at the lack of control. She was not afraid of the aftermath of the Flight, no, she just disliked the fact that she was stuck responding whether she wanted to or not. The desire to flirt and dance and serve Tenlie, of all people, was most definitely not her own feelings and she hated that Dhavalth's emotions were so intense that it was making her feel them as well. As her mind slipped more and more into his domain she arrived at the flightroom and entered. Jazheera, at your service!

Ekarth cocked his head to the side, peering out from the shade of his weyrledge to glimpse the green displaying herself on the wall. Her broadcast had drawn his attention well enough, if only for the sake of curiosity toward what gifts the males would bring to appeal themselves to the green queen. Ekarth stretched. Every dog was allowed to have their day, and today just happened to be Rajnith's. She was allowed her throne - for now.
Are flowerss really a gift?
"Huh?" Ba'sun looked up from his current task, fletching feather guides to the wooden shafts he had carved by hand. He lifted his head to glance out the door at the inquiring blue. It was always better to humor the blue. "Some girls like to be given flowers."
But they are free, and are everywhere. What kind of gift iss ssomething you kill by picking, and you hand the dying piece to ssomeone you want to impress.
"They're.. just plants Ekarth.. " Ba'sun frowned, not understanding, and began to pick at the bits of colorful feathers sticking to his fingers. A point of mine, they are not impressive. Just plantss. If he wanted to be impressive, wouldn't killing ssomething that iss more of a challenge than a flower work better? Face now contorting in suspicion, Ba'sun leaned his chair back from the table. "Who is giving flowers..?"
Ekarth didn't answer, instead slipping off the ledge and making a tight spiral to quickly rise, winging past Rajnith and Dhavalth on the wall; clipping past the other blue. How usselesss – doess sshe look like a herdbeast to you? A twist of wings and slender body and Ekarth was shooting back over the two, this time brushing his tail by the young green's head. Both of them little more than hatchlings. Perhapss I will sshow you how to fly, Young One. Conssider the worth of thesse giftss carefully.

Mavenath was sprawled on the river bank his hide glimmering brightly in the midday sun. Freshly oiled each small movement only highlighted his metallic sheen. He looked marvelous and he knew it. Hence he was laid out for all to see. Not one to normally indulge in vain behavior was Mavenath. As such Cr’oph was suspicious but not outwardly so. Instead the youth was cleaning up in the river. Oiling a dragon was messy no matter how one went about it. Wringing out his damp hair the bronze rider had just clambered up the bank when his dragon’s head rose his nostrils flaring as he focused on something circling the canyon.
Frowning the redhead prodded the large male in the side. “Yo that’s up?” Rajnith rises. She says to bring gifts. “Gifts? Typical female.” Cr’oph tilted his head trying to remember who said green’s rider was. Tenlie. Relax she is female. “I never asked that.” You didn’t have to. Mavenath rose to his feet then and flared his large wings outward.
As the small tendrils of lust started to leak over the bond the bronzerider snorted. “You're chasing her? What are you gifting to said lady.” The bronze rumbled in a laugh his eyes whirling in deep violets. My presence in her maiden flight should be gift enough. Laughing Cr’oph shook his head. “And you call me arrogant.” The bronze snorted before launching himself skyward and making for the chubby glowing green. Your arrogance is unfounded. Mine is based on confidence. Chuckling the bronzer flicked his damp hair over his shoulder and started towards the flight rooms. Don’t make a complete fool of yourself.
Rising past Rajnith and the other chasers Mavenath circled from above to get a good look at the green. Satisfied he spoke.Rajnith my gift to you is neither flowers nor words. Simply my very presence. Obviously she should be content with that fact. If not she was the one not worth his time. Again the male circled waiting for the flight to begin. The blues where given a cursory examination and nothing more. Competition based on speed. He couldn't possibly outmaneuver them. Which meant he would just have to outsmart them.

"No, no, no, noooo..." he was begging on hands and knees and this was no exaggeration or hyperbole. The man was pleading like a praying saint, beseeching the dragon to please not do what he was considering doing, but the struggle made the idea all that more appealing to the contrary bronze. He flicked his tail at his rider, You sound pathetic right now. Do you hear yourself? The rider was unphased by the assault and crawled forward comedically - though he saw nothing funny about any of this - there on the ledge, pulling himself up to the foreleg of his dragon where he buried his face, "I expect this out of Peccadillo, but not you, why can't you save me the embarrassment?" He was shrugged off as the bronze rose to his feet, cementing his decision much to Mi'rah's chagrin.
The bronzerider, as was typical, was completely and totally verklempt by the flurry of emotions that were tugging on his brain. He didn't want to go to flightrooms! He wanted to curl up and die, because this just about ruined everything. He didn't like to think of the weyrling as a sexual creature, and felt guilt enough from their pseudo-flirtatious encounters; that awful time his green mandyr decided to run in the main hall, their discussion about stargazing. Ughhhh You are being illogical. Typical whenever you get those silly romantic thoughts in your head. So smart otherwise.... He stretched his wings and gave his rider a pointed look with wine soaked eyes. Little by little purple worked it's way in with the burgundy, Rajnith wants gift for herself or Hers. I would be late should I take something, but you are a good gift giver, I know...
The gift bit is actually what really captured the bronze's attention. Sure Kierjaarth was humored by the green who thought herself as none other than a queen, and to pick apart her pain and argue the point to death would be a good way to pass the time should he be as lucky as to end up sharing a ledge with her come morning, but when she demanded gifts he knew he already had an edge. His had given Hers that silly glass thing, and so oh so liked it. Needless to say the gears had instantly began to turn in his mind as he slipped off the ledge with a lethargic easiness.
Mi'rah on the other hand had to frantically tear apart his room for something appropriate, which meant that he scrambled to his feet and began dumping out dresser drawers and bed chests as lusty panic washed over him. Must hurry up! Turning his head on the nightstand he saw Doppelganger's personal hoard of shinies. Oh he loved his collection so much, he couldn't ever dare...could he? There was a greedy itch in the palms of his hands and lurched forward digging fingers into the pile and indiscriminately pulling out whatever mess of buttons, feathers, seashells, and ribbons that the salamandyr had been gathering. The poor little brown was protesting all along, Rahmine! No no no! Please no shinies love! Put back? Pleaseeeeee Rahlove!? The serpentine creature flung himself at the rider who growled under the dragon's influence and all but flicked Doppelganger back off, "Go find Mimic!" Rahhhhhh! It was a piteous cry as the rider unremorsefully stalked off towards the flightrooms.
Ambling onto the scene with measured movements the bronze circled around to size up his competitors, but ever so careful not to turn his back on her majesty incase her regal delusions held true. Normally he wasn't one for many words, but the dragon was feeling rather cheeky at the moment and greeted his company, Dhavalth and Mavenath....and if it isn't an Ekarth too? Here to capture a look at greatness? A pause, Of course I mean Rajnith...

Well this was new, Ruskeath thought playfully. He'd never thought to bring presents during a flight before. He wondered what would be nice. G'tor could feel the familiar itching sensation and rolled his eyes. At least he was in his weyr for this one. "Who is it this time?" he asked with long suffering patience. It wasn't that he didn't mind flights, but a little more warning might be nice. Rajnith, Ruskeath answered automatically. He wasn't really paying attention, but watching the other males greet the green royal. So many; he would have to bring something good if he wanted her attention. She wishes us to bring presents.
G'tor looked up, startled. "Tenli's dragon?" He hadn't realized she was ready to rise yet. Presents were an interesting touch. What could he possibly bring? Ruskeath took to the air in a rush of wings and G'tor felt the desire to reach the flightrooms rising. Ranchan chattered with interest as he threw furs and pillows across the room in an attempt to find something nice. Tervain sat on the younger green before she could jump on the man's shoulder. Good little fire lizards should stay here, she scolded.
G'tor didn't have time or thought to thank her, he snatched a scarf the color of the fading sun. He hoped this would do. It was one of the few nicer things he kept around and would look nice and he thought Tenlie looked nice in yellow at the Feast. Bare feet slipping on the stone, G'tor darted around a corner and took a deep breath before entering the flightroom. He came in, eyes shining with Ruskeath's heart. Bowing, he held up the scarf for Tenlie's inspection.
Ruskeath joined the other males, perching easily on the rock wall. It didn't seem right to fly before Rajnith did. She was in charge, after all, that much was truly clear. As you wish, my lady, he purred, his voice a mixture of adoration and amusement. Nothing but the best for his queen, after all.

Rajnith was practically wriggling in delight. Wait, scratch that - she was wriggling. Her rotund backside bounced back and forth, her long tail flicking at the tip, like a canine who didn't quite realize his tail was wagging him. So many chasers, and two bronzes! What other Green could claim that sort of attendance at their flights? Very good, so good in fact that Ekarth's taunt to Dhavalth was ignored. In contrast to her wiggly behind, her neck and head - the only truly regal parts of her body - were held in a queenly arch, sunlight flashing off the yellow smear on her head like a crown. Dipping her nose once at each of her chasers, she greeted each of them personally, then turned to speak with the group as a whole.
Ruskeath, Kierjaarth; Mine informs me that yours have brought her gifts, and this pleases me. What they were Rajnith didn't know, but she didn't let on. Tenlie had been kept out of that part of the broadcast, so gifts for her were, in essence, a surprise. Mavenath, Ekarth; your gifts, while immaterial, are both valuable. I expect you to prove their worth. Of course Ekarth was here to chase, duh. Rajnith didn't consider any other option. Another day, Rajnith might have thrown a fit - how dare Mavenath, for instance, assume that his presence was enough? - but today, that thought faded instantly from her mind, the whirl of her eyes speeding up slightly. Today, she was simply excited, and happy that all of her males had brought gifts, each according to his temperament and means. This was acceptable, and Rajnith was, to the shock of all, pleased.
And last but never least, of course, was her first chaser, and roommate. Dhavalth. The flowers are lovely. A simple compliment, but certainly enough, between the roommates. Dhavalth was, perhaps, the dragon Rajnith knew best. But now it was time; tribute had been made, and every second on the ledge was harder. Rajnith was certainly proud of her will power, but this was getting ridiculous. One more moment on the ledge, where time seemed to hold still and stretch out - and then Rajnith hopped sideways, snatching up the flowers Dhavalth had brought, and threw herself over the side of the canyon.
A powerful thrust of her huge wings turned Rajnith just above her ledge, allowing her to drop the flowers to safety for Hers to find when she returned. Then, without hesitation, she powered sideways, skimming along the riverbed away from the waterfall, working to escape the males above and, hopefully, behind. Once she knew she was mostly in the clear, she darted around someone - in her frantic dash, she couldn't tell who - and turned upright, oversized wings moving her into the atmosphere in a punishing vertical climb. Straightforward, yes, but those with smaller wings were certain to struggle. She had plenty of tricks in mind for the bigger dragons, but for now, she needed altitude, and she was going to get it.
Far below, Tenlie was long lost to Rajnith's control. Each new arrival was met with a regal nod; Dhavalth first, and why had she never realized before that he had such beautiful hair? Tenlie got to her feet, aware that Rajnith approved of this one for some additional reason, and planted a soft kiss on Jazz's cheek before returning to her seat. And then... and then... where were they? Ekarth should be here, and Mavenath and Kierjaarth. Ten's lower lip jutted out dangerously, in a very pouty expression that had literally never appeared on her face before. "Where..." she asked, unable to figure out what was going on here. Before long, though, the door opened again - it was Ruskeath, with something in his hands. When he bowed and held it up, Ten gasped in delight, hopping off the bed much more like she normally would have done before visibly collecting herself. Accepting the scarf with a hint of a curtsy, she draped it around her neck with a heartfelt "Thank you," offering a hand for Ruskeath to kiss if he so chose. Very good; now where were the rest?

Dhavalth refused to be baited - too much - by the other blue that arrived. Such fighting was beneath him. He merely said, It is Rajnith, and not you, who must judge their worth, blue. His tone was pleasant enough but for a moment a faint thread of annoyance danced through his eyes. It was Rajnith's day to decide who was worthy and who was not. Ekarth, in Dhavalth's opinion, ought to be paying attention to her and not himself. Such a fair maiden deserved all the attention in the world on such a day.
He would have been quite happy not to talk to anyone but Rajnith had Kierjaarth, the second bronze to appear, not spoken to him. Well, he could spare a few words in kind. How could I pass up such a sight when it burns so very bright? He projected the reply to Rajnith as well - a little more flattery couldn't hurt his chances, right? With that comment he turned his attention back to Rajnith. That wasn't to say he wasn't aware of the other chasers. They were all older than him and more experienced. His determination would be put to the test along with his extra practice with His.
Dhavalth watched her wagging tail with a hint of amusement mixed with his appreciation for her unique brand of beauty. All greens were beautiful to him, be it their personality, their wit, their skill, or their physical beauty. Then finally, finally he was addressed and he let out a not-so-melodic croon. As long as Rajnith liked them the others' opinions mattered not. When she claimed the flowers and took to the air the blue followed a moment later. He almost slithered over the edge of the cliff, using his legs to push him away from the wall at the last moment.
Falling into a perfect dive was a little difficult with his overly large wings - they were rather hard to fold properly sometimes - so he had a bit more drag then he would have preferred. Oh well. He'd work around it. He avoided the ledges neatly enough by angling away from the wall. Wouldn't do him any good to hit one. He followed Rajnith along the river until she decided to go up. He was better at that then diving still. He had a light, whipcord strong body and wings that were large in proportion to him. And all-rounder, he was - or would be if he could tame his wings - and he wanted to prove it to Rajnith. So Dhavalth powered up, a bit reckless about his energy since that was his first chase, but eager to please.
Jazheera, a strange mix of Dhavalth and herself, managed to turn a bit more red when Tenlie got up and kissed her cheek. Pleased but embarrassed. She watched with one hand on the spot Tenlie had kissed as Ruskeath entered. She watched the gift-giving. Hmm, she could have brought a gift but she had the feeling that it had already been taken care of. The attention Tenlie offered Ruskeath was met with slight envy but mostly understanding. She had to prove herself before she could earn more of Rajnith's favour.

Mavenath watched with twinges of amusement coloring his lustful gaze as the chubby green proceeded to near bounce in her excitement. It was almost cute. Reminded him a little of his more bouncy sisters she did. Except without the deformities they had. The very things that made them special and dear to the large male sadly made them undesirable to the eyes of others. Rajnith had no such problems. However said green did need his undivided attention so thoughts of his sisters where pushed away. Only right that he concentrate on what was before him. Large wings stretching outwards to capture more wind he rumbled loudly at the female’s words. Prove their worth. Silly green he would not have shown up if he had not intended to do just that. A light brush of acknowledgment to her mind was all the bronze offered however.
As Rajnith threw herself over the side of the canyon Mavenath gave a ringing call and folded his own wings to drop just a few lengths. Pulling out of the dive he swung out over the canyon and followed her from above and behind. Luckily with all that mass she was not the speediest thing. Still she was a green and naturally that gave her a bit of advantage in the speed department not that the bronze was at all worried. Instead he stayed above her and thus was in perfect position when Rajnith started her vertical climb. Checking his speed and direction the male simple turned in a lazy circle as he watched her rise towards him. Hmm. Mavenath’s wings shifted ever so slightly as he planned how best to intercept her path when she got closer.
It didn’t take Cr’oph long to get to the flight rooms. Still very much himself he gave a short respectful bow to Tenlie and then moved to take his place amongst the other males. He offered her no real verbal words instead choosing to lean against the near wall and watch the proceedings with a cool calculating gaze. Flights where a pain. Just, not so much anymore now that he had worked so hard on distancing himself from the effects. Thank you Jiggles for making that a necessity.

Ruskeath crooned happily, pleased that Rajnith appreciated his present. It didn't mean he was more liked than any of the others, but it was a good start. Rajnith seemed to be in quite a good mood too. Maybe that would make this a fun flight! At this moment, he cared about nothing else than making his darling, green queen happy. So long as she was, his day was completely. It could only get better if she decided she would be happiest with him.
She was away! Long wings sliced through the air as he dropped from the cliff's edge. Rajnith was below, speeding down the river. How pretty she looked against the blue of the water. An obstacle loomed ahead. Was it another dragon? Ruskeath hardly cared. He was impressed that Rajnith could climb so vertically. Sadly, his body wasn't made for such shard acrobatics. He angled his flight as steep as it would go, rising over the other dragon as he fought the air to keep up with her.
G'tor swelled with pride. She like his gift! He bent to gently brush the offered hand with his lips. It was such an honor to accept her gratitude. "Anything for my lady," he murmured softly. He beamed. It did look lovely on her, though with her radiance, he thought anything would. It was kind of her to allow them all to be in her presence. He only wished he knew what he could do to please her next.
~
T'ke fussed with the straps on Garaeth's harness. It looked like he was going to need a new one soon. The leather was starting to wear thin. Hard to believe he'd actually been a rider long enough to need new straps. He was sure someone somewhere had lost money betting he'd be dead by now. Some large and green blew past them so fast that T'ke would have fallen off if he hadn't been strapped in.
"What the shards was that?!" He fumbled to get himself right in his seat again. Several more shapes blasted past, though not as close. T'ke swore and shielded his face against the gust of wind. Oh, Rajnith is Rising, Garaeth noted, for all the world as if he were talking about a summer breeze. "Can't she do it somewhere else?" T'ke shot back grumpily. Shall I Chase her for you and tell her your views? Garaeth asked playfully. "NO!" T'ke's eyes widened at the thought. "No chasing!"
Garaeth sighed, but there was amusement in his tone. It was so easy to tease T'ke these days. Come now. I know you like it more than you admit. T'ke turned beat red. "I do not!" he returned hotly. "Besides, I thought you loved Feyrianth." Feyrianth, Garaeth crooned longingly. Now what have I done, T'ke moaned, covering his face with his hands.

Good, good...His should be raining the gifts down upon Rajnith's any moment now, and the bronze rumbled smugly with his delight. Kierjaarth had taken the green's wriggling rump as a thank you enough. Of course she wouldn't fawn over the presents but non verbal cues were just as if not more important. before spinning one last time on a dark wing. It was like a warm up lap, he needed to stretch those muscles before putting them to use since a sprain mid-flight would just be so...so....so unbecoming of a suitor calling upon royalty like her.
One wouldn't think that they would have to put so much effort into chasing a green quite as...plump as her, but Kierjaarth knew a thing or two about fluffy folks that other dragons probably took for granted, after all, while he was about as streamlined as a bronze can come, his own rider didn't seem to match the plans and was something of an endomorph. From Mi'rah he had learned to never underestimate their worth. Big didn't always mean slow, and it definitely didn't mean stupid, Rajnith as young as she was most likely had a trick or two waiting.
Not that it seemed like it now. The bronze was following a relatively easy path. Dropping along the canyonside and down over the river before following her on what could have been an arduous battle upward without the aide of a thermal to make it any easier. Luckily power was on his side, and what with it so early in the flight he had plenty of it. Thundering against the air like war drums the beast counted out the beats...one two three....one two three. It repeated again in steady triplets, his tail swinging behind systematically like a metronome. He was holding steady.
Panting! Mi'rah was panting by the time he had made it to the door, and in his dragonlust couldn't fathom why his leg had hurt him so. Why was it that running was so hard? A big bother it all was, but he was here finally with his trinkets still in tow, sparkling in his hands. He admired the perfect gift one last time before pushing through the door with a shoulder and quickly looking for his perfect princess Rajnith.....ah there! Proudly he came forward to present the mess of shiny ribbons, seashells and also - unfortunately - dust bunnies and broken glass. She liked yes?

Ekarth eyes whirled in delight at Kierjaarth's arrival and form of greeting. The slender blue, twirled onto side, skimming over the bronze's wings close enough to trail a claw along the tender membrane. Sso nice to ssee experienced wingss in the ssky. Or, He dipped down past the large dragon's flank to fall lazily after Rajnith. Are they aged wingss the young will usse to flaunt themsselvess?
He buffeted a wing at the passing ledge, scattering the dropped flowers around and off the stone landing. Such a useless gift. A mocking hiss sounded as he reached forward to snatch up one of the flowers in his muzzle. The blue wove in and around the other dragons, hardly paying the green much attention until she began to rocket into the sky. He moved to race her, back feet finding Ruskeath's back and using him as a living springboard.
You humor the large and awkward. What a pleassant gift they besstow upon you, a metallic glamour and pressence that will fade as quickly as your sstirring glow. Jewelss and flowerss that will dull and wilt. Again, my young beauty, wouldn't you prefer worth? Ekarth only rose high enough to touch the green's trailing tail with his nose before he broke away, wings in close to his body as his spiraled down and went down back through her chasers. A game. As he slipped and ducked around each of them with a brush of claw here and flick of tail there. He could out maneuver them all – he might have made an exception for the other blue if Dhavalth hadn't been so young.
Let them climb. He would not be tired out so soon.
Ba'sun arrived last, still trying to pick the bits of color feathers from his fingers as he leaned against the door frame. A glance at the green made him inwardly grimace. So young. He was getting too old for all this; and he thought Ekarth and himself had an agreement not to chase greens on their maiden flights. Ekarth's fashion of catching them did not make for a pleasant wakening after all was said and done..

As soon as she made the turn to a vertical stroke, Rajnith looked back, taking stock of her males. Dodging around Gareth, she offered the Blue a seductive purr, Too much for you, hmmm? before catching sight of Ekarth's poor choice of action. Shaking her head slightly as she took her first stroke upwards, she called back to him, tone sweet as a bubbly pie, Whatever they may be in the future, today they brought me happiness. And no one may know the future for sure. Is your confidence truly so lacking that you must sabotage the gifts of others? Hm. If anyone would have noticed, she would have batted her eyelashes innocently. But still, I do not discount the value of knowledge. Show me.
Still climbing, Rajnith didn't let up. Mavenath may have been waiting for her to come to him, and Ekarth might be inches away from her tail tip, but Rajnith was aiming for the sun. She blew past the Bronze without a second thought, refusing to slow even to make better use of a thermal. When the older, emaciated blue actually made contact, though, she was startled out of her climb, spinning out to the left, watching Ekarth spiral through her chasers. So, this is how you suggest I avoid capture? she asked, voice sacchrine once again. Let us see how effective it is.
Tucking her own wings, she matched Ekarth's dive, perhaps completing one rotation less than the Blue before reaching her chasers. Not nearly so agile as Ekarth, she should still outmanuver the browns and the bronzes, at the very least, and hopefully Dhavalth was startled by her closeness. Kierjaarth was right - despite her tubby appearance, Rajnith could move when she chose to. Dhavalth was first, earning a tiny, momentary caress from a forepaw before she swept on, dodging between Mavenath and Ruskeath with a gentle flick of the tail for each before she curled around the Brown to fix her younger Bronze with one eye, beckoning with a claw. Steady Kierjaarth she looped not once but twice before sliding past Dhavalth again, aiming for the open air. Without seeming to realize exactly how precarious her position was, she commented, Hmm indeed.
Tenlie/Rajnith stifled a sigh of relief as Mavenath appeared, then the radiant smile brought on by G'tor's servility melted back into a pout - he hardly seemed interested, and that simply would not do. Kierjaarth's arrival postponed the humiliation, however; and momentarily her lap was covered in - ooo, it was so shiny! The dust bunnies were ignored (living with a molting swan meant she was used to far worse), but the ribbons and shells were examined, and even the glass shards were held up to the light. Ekarth's entrance was largely ignored, but she did flash the Blue a smile before going back to her examination. She didn't want to lose anything... Perhaps you could extort a physical gift from Mavenath after all, Rajnith suggested, more of a compulsion than actual words at this point.
Rajnith carefully transfered the gifts from her skirt to the bed, then wove her way over to Mavenath, trailing a hand along Kierjaarth's cheek along the way. Once she'd reached the redhead, she asked, "Your shirt, please?" If he didn't start moving fast enough, she was plenty prepared to yank it off over his head. Whether he gave it to her or not, she turned to the rest of the chasers, hand on hip and eyebrows raised. "Mavenath does not seem to understand what he is doing here," she observed, turning back to look at the redheaded Bronzerider. Still looking at Mavenath, she asked the room at large, "Explain why I am worth chasing, will you?"

Dhavalth decided Ekarth's little game was annoying and rather dishonourable. Still, there was nothing to be gained from fighting for one's pride. Annoying as he was, the blue wasn't hurting anyone. Not really. Perhaps there was a way to use what the other blue had given him to his advantage? Hmm. Use it to show off himself.... So when Ekarth came to play with him he used his amazing flexibility to avoid contact. Dhavalth drifted around a couple of other chasers, lightly showing off when he thought Rajnith might be looking.
It was a dance, if you will. When the green herself came through the chasers he halted his dancing around the others to dance with her. Being bold, as Rajnith passed by him the first time, Dhavalth let his tail brush against her hide. He let her pass unimpeded by him the second time though with a great deal of restraint. Could have reached out and tried...but no. She was the queen and he was but a knight. That choice was hers to make, no matter how tempting it might be relieve her of the responsibility.
The blue followed after Rajnith, keeping closer than he had before. He flowed through the air after her with a serpentine grace. His skill in the air may still need work but he thought himself proficient with flattery. You are poetry in motion, like the harsh yet gentle ocean, he said to Rajnith alone. For just one day he'd let his charming words be for her alone.
Jazheera found herself merely watching the others for a while. Eventually she found herself moving towards Rajnith slowly, the usual manly walk replaced with the grace learned from her performing days. At the green's comment Dhavalth chuckled faintly. She moved to hover respectfully behind Rajnith's left shoulder. Dhavalth felt the bronze couldn't possibly know the right way to respond. There was a delicate art to forming words that the blue didn't think Mavenath knew. "As if anyone is worth chasing Rajnith," Dhavalth murmured so softly that unless someone was close and paying attentio nthey would have missed it.

Hmmmph. Ekarth. Was he supposed to expect anything else out of the blue? In his time in the sleepy south he had forgotten just how dangerous their kind were, the northern dragons that is. It seemed that everything tamed when in comparison to the wilds of their surroundings, but so new the blue was that he still had a bit of that frightening play in his movements. Of course, being the proud creature Kierjaarth was, he liked to think that he was capable of much the same even after the nearly two turns he had spent here. After all, he was the bronze who gladly chased Jingth just to accost the other dragons. Just imagine what could happen when he actually wanted to win.
Forgetful Ekarth. No older than you I am... and not any younger either. They were matched in experience, though the sharding blue had all of that speed. Hmmph. There were ways around that issue though - or at least he was telling himself that even as the green he was supposed to be chasing managed to loop her way around him and the other competitors - and his attentions were turned away for the moment and back on Rajnith. Really it shouldn't have ever left. Why waste his time with the other males when there was a very high maintenance green demanding attention? He growled ever so determined as he moved to break out from the pack and follow her into the open air.
Success! His gift was loved, and he swelled with pride as he watched her pick apart the pieces that surmised his present to her. Why even in that moment he didn't notice the little cuts along his palm from when he recklessly made the initial grab for the glass shards in the first place. There was something of a lucid part of him that made note of the placement of pointy particles on the bed. The bed? That wasn't a good place for them... someone was - or they were Kierjaarth haughtily hissed to him - going to lay there right? Wouldn't that hurt? Hurt good... the dragon half had to reprimand the human thoughts again.
Accepting the brush of the green's hand against his cheek he dreamily replied, "But your worth is so great, how can one even begin to measure?" There was a lack of stutters. Most definitely not a Mi'rah type quotable.
