Name: Paryal
Age: 18 Turns
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Rank: Weyrling
Physical Appearance:All in all, Paryal could best be described as ‘average’. Not beautiful, not ugly. Some might find her fairly pretty, but her appearance tends to be overlooked in favor of her personality.
Paryal stands at 5'3, with an average body weight. Her only redeeming feature is pale skin, which is almost always burned badly or peeling due to her work in the Crafthold. It is more of a hindrance than any sort of asset, but she remains proud of it. She wears her dirty blonde hair long, but often tied back with anything she can find. Although it is long, it is too thin to really be called any sort of pretty. It would be brown were it not for her constant work in the sun that lightens it considerably. Her eyes are blue, liberally tinged with gray. They too are rather average looking. Blue eyes tend to run in her family.
Her body type is average- though she could be described as ‘top-heavy’ (large breasts) due to more unfortunate genetics, and has the hips to pair with it. She is surprisingly strong and muscular, though it doesn’t really show on her frame. She has the slightest bit of baby fat on her hips and stomach, but hard work and age is slowly overcoming it. Overall, she is very traditionally Caucasian in appearance.
Personality: Paryal tends to be somewhat vain about her her own intelligence, which is admittedly quite high (and knowing her letters and math puts Paryal a step above some Pernese, who didn’t have the benefit of a hold Harper).
Quick to anger, Paryal can be unforgiving to those who make an error. Not only does she expect perfection of herself, but also of other people, making her a hard taskmaster. She’s also not comfortable not being the dominant force, and often finds ways to put herself in charge. This role of dominance came about from having to frequently watch her younger siblings. She knows that she should submit to authority, but sees no reason to submit to her peers. Leadership is natural to Paryal.
Once you have befriended Paryal however, you find a girl who is quite different from external appearances. Paryal quickly loses interest in tasks that are repetitive, and can even be quite lazy in her work, though her need for perfection drives her to finish. A sense of mischievous humor has her constantly setting up various pranks for those around her, though she tries not to do any harm. As she gets older, Paryal is slowly becoming more relaxed and able to take things in strides. Her anger is fading into an amused tolerance, though she remains the firm leader among her friends.
Most people seem to get along with her, despite her reputation for being ‘bossy’ and overly dominant (which can intimidate some with weaker constitutions than herself). The fact that people might find her intimidating amuses Paryal to no end. Paryal is also very extroverted, and enjoys leading her group of friends on various ‘adventures’.
Paryal has had a few casual flings with men, but she’s monogamous at heart and doesn’t like to flirt her way around.
History: Paryal comes from a rather large family that consists almost solely of females. Her father doesn’t seem bothered by his lack of a son, but he did have to take measures in making sure he had a successor. As the most sturdy of his daughters, and as the oldest, he chose Paryal. This in no way formed a ‘false son complex’, however. Paryal’s father was always aware he dealt with a girl instead of a boy, and was
considerate of monthly afflictions and other related female only issues. As a result of working so closely with her father, Paryal has a slightly closer relationship with her father than her mother, and tends to have more male friends than female friends.
Since both her parents valued a strong education for all their daughters, Paryal was educated in a large group with other children by the hold Harper. She knows her figures,
and how to read and write. She enjoys reading scrolls about dragons, as she holds the same fantasy as all other young Pernese- being taken away by a dragonrider and becoming part of Weyr life.
Helping to raise her younger siblings has given Paryal ease with dealing with children, though she admittedly doesn’t like them very much. Nevertheless, she is a good sister and a willing ear to listen to the various complaints heaped upon her by her younger siblings. Raising siblings has also helped contribute to Paryal’s responsibility (positively), and her enjoyment of being dominant (negatively).
Other than the above factors, her life has been relatively normal. There were no tragic events in her short life, and she enjoys her life very much. She enjoys a core group of friends, met in her stint in ‘school’.
At the age of seventeen Turns, Paryal was Searched and brought to the renegade Selenitas Weyr. Her first few days there produced a terse encounter with Weyrwoman Shmee, a woman that Paryal from then on had determined was a complete and utter wherry, not fit for leading the Weyr. Though she had passed judgement on the woman, and felt she could do a better job, Paryal obviously didn't consider herself the best choice for a Queen dragon. It was much to her surprise then, when she Impressed the golden Queen Aezanth. The hardened stares of the girls who hadn't Impressed at all now grace her every turn, as well as the pity of those who saw the mutated dragons that came from that clutch, believing that there must be something wrong with Aezanth, even if she appears to be completely healthy.
Dragon:
Name: Aezanth
Color: Gold
Age: Newly Hatched
Physical Appearance: Aezanth's overall body color is a peculiar shade of white gold. People may look twice, thinking she's almost silver, but there's that definitive golden shimmer in her hide that proves she isn't. Her legs are startingly goldenrod, unevenly splashed so it looks as though she's stepped in a pot of ink. The same color appears around her facial area, looking rather like freckles. Aezanth thinks of it as her own personal crown. There's no doubt that she's a beautiful Queen, though she is strangely colored.
Size wise, she'll always be a bit small for a Queen, but she has amazing endurance and speed. In Flight, she should prove extremely difficult to catch, given this speed and endurance. Her one flaw would be that Aezanth cannot fly too high- heights seem to make her dizzy.
She looks much like a Terran swan, with her curved, graceful neck and the elegant lines of her body. This appearance is misleading- she's more like a little falcon, diving quickly and pulling up just as quickly. She lasts as long as any hawk, spiraling downwards and upwards again on drafts of the wind. Her wings are slightly overlarge, though it doesn't look bad. It lends to her own ability to glide and dive easily.
Personality: Aezanth is very inch the Queen, and don't you forget it. She holds herself elegantly and regally, often looking as if she is looking down on people. Aezanth absolutely refuses to be ordered about by anyone. This even applies to Aslath, who she obeys grudingly at best. Milleth is invisible to her- her inferior, even if the other Queen is older. Aslath gets base respect for being the senior Queen in the Weyr. This superior rank requires Aezanth to listen, as much as she hates it. The wily gold often tries to find a way around obeying Aslath, though not often with success.
Paradoxically, Aezanth hates it when the other dragons will not listen to her commands, and can get quite upset and tempermental about it. If a dragon does choose to listen, however, Aezanth treats them with great kindness, and often will grow to like them quite a bit. She genuinelly cares about the dragons in the Weyr, especially those who were born disabled in some way. Aezanth would be fully willing to let them eat before her, should it come to that.
Aezanth is highly bossy, always trying to organize things to her liking. Beware when she clutches, for Aezanth's temper is as quick as Paryal's. She'll lash out mentally without second thoughts, and may even go so far as to snap at the heels of an unwary person or dragon.
Vanity is also a large component of Aezanth's behavior. If Paryal isn't wearing something that goes with her hide, she'll let Paryal know. Everything needs to match Aezanth (a difficult task, given her multicolored hide). Constant cleaning is the order of the day, until Aezanth sparkles and outshines every other dragon in the Weyr.
Despite these quirks, there is no doubt that Aezanth is exceedingly intelligent- perhaps even slightly more than the average Queen. Her memory may have been that of an average Queen dragon's, but she picks up on things extremely quickly, and seems to have a good head for organizing Wings and keeping them that way.
Aezanth and Paryal have a strong relationship. The two like to keep in constant physical contact with each other, though they can go without it. When they are together, however, Paryal will almost always have one hand on Aezanth somewhere, while Aezanth shields Paryal from the sun with one large wing.
Pets: Green firelizard Fairamay
Appearance: Fairamay is an even, light-hued green. Her color is very creamy in hue, the green looking light and rather frothy.
Her build is stocky, though it's not fat. In fact, it's far from it. She may have short little limbs, but they are all powerful and very well muscled indeed. Her legs are extremely wide, and equally powerful. They can propel her through the air for hours. Fairamay will prove to be a difficult fire lizard to catch in Flight, since she's easily as powerful as a small brown. She's a somewhat slow flier though, so a quick fire lizard could overtake her in the start.
Personality: Fiesty and fierce would be the two best words to describe Fairamay. She's not the type of fire lizard to take food tamely from anyone's hand- even Paryal gets this sort of treat very rarely. Faira prefers to take on her meat as a whole chunk, tearing it apart viciously. She also tends to lash out at other fire lizards- especially the males. Faira can't stand males, unless it's time for a Flight. Then she demands to have the attention of all the male fire lizards on her, and feels offended if it isn't.
This hatred of males extends to male humans as well, much to Paryal's chagrin. With Faira around, it's hard for her to even wave to them, for fear of getting a pierce peck to the head. Despite this aggressive behavior, Faira is utterly devoted to Paryal, and loves her to pieces. It's strange to see the formerly rampaging green cuddling sweetly with her human, eyes closed and humming softly.
She puts up with Aezanth, and even holds some love for her. The two often sleep with each other, though Faira prefers to sleep with Paryal.
Brown fire lizard Misrah
Description: This brown is a blending of dark and light, mottled and swirled over his hide, though not unattractively so. The blend is smooth and highlights his lighter spots, which are on his wings and his tail, bringing them prominence. He is mostly a medium-shaded brown, though like his wings, his underbelly is on the lighter side. He is smoothly - and powerfully built - although he is rather small for a brown, and some of the larger blues might actually outgrow him. He'll no doubt be extremely agile in flight, though, quick to turn around and even faster to duck away from being handled, and he moves with a natural confidence that makes it clear he doesn't mind his small size at all.
Personality: Content is the best way to describe this little brown - content and, well, little. He is very hard to get down. Scolding and insults don't work with him, they roll right away as though they don't matter because to this little brown, they don't. He's happy with himself and his life, happy with the world and content to show it. While he will never be the type to roam (more likely, he'll sit and climb around in his bonded's hair as though it's the most normal thing in the world), this little firelizard cannot be accused of being unfriendly, either. He's not noisy or prone to screeching (and he can't 'sing' at all, though he might try if given the chance), and he listens very well. In fact, he likes listening to people speak and will often chirp quietly to fill silences.
