Killed in Siege of Selenitas
Humans:
Name: Rebekah (Beka)
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Undecided, go hetero for now.
Rank: Blue-Weyrling
Physical Appearance: What's really scary about Beka, apart from the scowl she almost always wears, is the fact she's almost deathly pale. The slight dusting of freckles across her delicately arched nose and cheeks gives her an air of innocence that is gone the minute she draws her brows together in a scowl, or her eyes narrow in a glare. Her features are soft and almost Innocent, delicate, almost as though made from a true artists hand.
Thick lashes frame her eyes, the colour alone makes people shrink away. A stormy mix of blue and grey, darkening and lightening with each mood that flows through her. The lighter the colour, the closer to Beka you are, the darker, the more annoyed you're making her. A dark, stormy blue is her angriest, while a faded grey is her saddest. It's like there is a storm brewing behind those eyes, and if one looked long enough, they might fool themselves into thinking they could see the real Beka, not the outer shell she gives to the world.
On first looking at Beka, one might think that you were looking at a cold, marble statue, just the way she holds herself, aloof and distant. One second glance, one can see the fragility in her, a pretty girl, she might be called a guys dream, with a fairly adequate body in the way of curves, Beka will never wear anything that might suggest this. Her skin is almost always cold, and her hands shake... However, you'll never get close enough to touch her skin. Especially not her collar bone and arm. On her left side, running along the collar bone and down her arm to the wrist, is a long scar, whiter than her pale skin.
Personality: Which Beka would you like to know first?
Let's start on the outside.
On the outside, Beka is a cruel person, lashing out at everyone without thinking, she's cold and distant. The exact opposite of her sweet appearance. She rarely laughs and the scowl she wears is a warning. She can't control her temper, it flares quickly and sometimes over silly things, however, her sharp wit and tongue mean that some times, a simple sorry won't suffice.
Oddly enough, on the inside, Beka hates herself for everything she does. She acts like she doesn't need friends, only to know that the loneliness inside her is killing her, slowly. Don't think it's possible? It is. However, Beka is afraid of people, with the upbringing she hand, it's hard to imagine her wanting to be a bright and bubbly person, her lashing out is her only way of keeping herself safe. Beka is insecure, has little confidence, and above it all, terrified.
She longs to be loved and held, but the moment the comfort she craves is offered, she'll lash out, pulling herself away. A sweet girl trapped inside, too scared to come out, so the lie was created to keep herself safe. The only person she trusts, even remotely, is Lura. Beka flinches away from alot of people, a harsh voice or a unsuspected movement by someone will have her flinching. With males, she can barely speak most of the time, stumbling over her words.
History: Beka was born a child of violence, her Mother was not a willing partner, for she was not a wife, nor was she a willing mother. Her Father, well... Not much can be said. Kilina had been doing all she could for her mother while she was sick, gathering the greens like she was told, and attempting at berries, in doing so, she was grabbed, taken. A lone Shunned man was to blame, one that was obviously lonely but the years of solitude had devoid him of love or tenderness. Kilina was there for his needs, for her to cook, to keep him happy. Even if she hated it.
When Beka was born, Kilina at first rejected the babe, unable to look upon the child that had caused her so much pain. Even as she knew that the other reason was because she didn't want to care when that child went through the pain as she did.
At seven was when it started, Beka's smart mouth got her into trouble, and upon one time seeing her parents arguing, she'd yelled at her father, only to have the man slap her. The shock kept her quiet for a moment only.
The years went on, the beatings got worse, and by the time Beka was fifteen, was when the worst happened. She can still remember the pain of that sharpened stone sliding over her skin, cutting deep, and even scraping bone. She'd nearly collapsed with the pain, only now, a year later, that she wished she had. Being raped by her own father was something that completely destroyed not only Beka's trust in people, but seeing her daughter have that placed upon her, destroyed Kilina.
It was Sitath on a routine sweep that found her, the blue pretty much adopted the girl standing over her protectively as Beka attempted to look brave for the rider. It was then the lie was created, to protect herself. She was left at her first Standing, taken under the Green-Rider Lura's wing, and Impressed Anai, her green flitt.
Dragons/Whers/Fire Lizards:
Name: Anai
Color: Green
Age: Mature
Description: This green is an interesting melding of shades; from the darkest tips of her wings, tail and claws, to the brightest spots on her face, every inch of her seems to be a mixture of even and odds greens, but make no mistake: she is definitely a green. The bulk of her body is a vibrant lime-green color that will likely be on the blinding side when she rises to mate. She is small for a green, with a long tail that will make her extremely quick at turning in flight. Her neck is slightly too long, and her eyes are slightly too large, though not in an unattractive way; more likely these strange additions to her appearance will be viewed as quirks unique to her.
Personality: A green with an attitude, this little one will make life hard for her bonded. She is very proud and will expect to be complimented quite often, though her memory is poor so she will likely forget any insults after a short period of time -- but just because she forgets the insults doesn't mean she'll forget she's mad, no, this one will hold grudges. She's bossy and likely to fly about scolding other firelizards, trying to convince them they should listen to her, although she will always resign her place before a queen or particularly fiesty bronzes. She's also clever, so she will likely be easier to train than most green firelizards are.
Poison Frog Brown P.I.T.A (Pain in the arse) a.k.a Pita
Color Code: AA6600
Description: This brown is an ugly yellow-brown color, and certainly unattractive at first glance. Darker shades of brown mark his back-ridge, and a particularly dark hue gives him socks, like he has been walking in mud for a little while. Tiny wings, far more reminiscent of a salamandyr’s than a flitter’s, are barely enough to hold him aloft, and even that requires effort. Instead, this boy is going to turn to climbing and gliding for most of his transportation needs, and become a master of between. In order to get him to go deliver messages, it will be necessary to toss him into the air so that he can quickly get the altitude for betweening to his destination. Angles and lines are the definition of his bony body, and no matter how much he eats, he’ll never get fat, though he may one day bulk up to the point where he doesn’t look painfully thin—but don’t count on it!
Personality: Clever and conniving, this firelizard is not one to be left to his own devices. In all likelihood, he’ll attempt to gain his own fair of greens and blues at just about every firelizard Hatching, so don’t be surprised if he somehow manages to bring back a friend or two at some point! Like wild firelizards, he is quite subservient to queens of all species, though he still wants to gain “followers” by flitter-flitter Impression to increase his status in the greater fair of the Weyr, much like any other brown in the wild. He considers his humanpet to be part of “his” fair, and will likely try and boss you around! Training him is absolutely impossible, for this sneaky creature will either right out ignore orders and suggestions, or do his very best to subvert them, rather than submit his indomitable will to yours. The only way to ever get him to do what you want will be to trick him into thinking he wanted to do it all along!
Dragons/Whers/Fire Lizards:
Name: Thoth
Color: Blue
Age: Under One Turn
Appearance: From the moment of his hatching, Thoth has been an average-sized blue and from his physical build (with droopy wings and a whippy tail that tends to drag behind him as he walks), it is clear that he will never be the largest of his color. Smooth muscles ripple beneath his skin with each movement, defining an agility that will make him one of the best at turning in the sky once he is fully grown. His only major windfall is that he is more long in the body than most blues would be, and this gives him an almost stretched appearance that not everyone will find attractive, though it is undeniable that he is pure muscle, strong and lean. As a hatchling you will find his proportions odd to behold, for his wings will seem too large and parachute-like for his body, and his tail will seem more like a seventh limb, far more animate than that of most dragons, but never fear. As he grows in age, Thoth will fill out into those impressive wings, into a blue built well for gliding. And that lean physique of his promises that at adulthood, he will be fastest dragons of his color, giving even the largest greens a run for their marks.
Like his build, at first glance Thoth will seem almost unimpressive. He leans toward the darker scale of blue, a rich navy that will no doubt cast him second and third glances when around brighter dragons. Darker still are his ridges and wings, as though invisible hands have cast shadows over his hide in just the right places. Thoth's tail has a far lighter patch that spreads from the very tip upward as though fading back to the navy coloration that makes up the rest of him. At its lightest, his tail is almost a rich sapphire blue, which is exactly the same color as the vibrant highlights that show up over the rest of his body when the light hits him just right - as though he's always finely oiled, but do not be dissuaded; these highlights will be still more prominent whenever he has been freshly oiled. But because of his dark hide, it is likely that Thoth will end up spending more time in the shade than most dragons as he will no doubt absorb heat much faster.
Personality: Thoth is an extremely soft-spoken dragon and that will be one of the most noticeable things about him. He has a permanently thoughtful 'tone' as though he is always considering the world around him and weighing his options, which is not an inaccurate description. Thoth is, in fact, a rather intelligent dragon who will spend much of his time trying to reason things out to himself. This thoughtful nature may make him appear shy, maybe even aloof, but he really is nothing of the sort. He simply likes to weigh all of his options before making an actual decision, as things done in haste often end in regrets. His intelligence is tempered by a natural responsibility that will keep him from being much of a show-off, despite the fact that he will be fast in flight once he takes to the air. He will also usually be the voice of reason in a problem, more eager to end an argument than start it. Naturally diplomatic, Thoth will have an affinity for reasoning and forcing those around him to think logically -- especially his.
Thoth is extremely stable. It is very hard to upset him and though he does not brag or seek praise (nor would he complain about it, mind), he is a very confident dragon, content with his life. This emotional stability will make him an excellent sounding board for problems and it will not be unusual for him to be a sounding board for both His and for others, both human and dragon-alike. While he is unlikely to bespeak anyone but his lifemate, Thoth is a very good listener, and he is naturally considerate, unlikely to say or do much to upset someone unless he absolutely has to, and even then he regrets doing so afterwards. Making other people happy makes him happy, and the most important person to him is His. He does possess something of a protective streak, but it does not manifest outwardly so much as an inward reassurance. This is because that confidence which makes Thoth so hard to anger and upset doesn't just extend to himself and his abilities. No, he is equally confident in his lifemate, with the total trust and love that only a dragon can provide.
