Sadly I no longer have time to play this character and have given her up for adoption. To adopt her please contact an admin.
Name: Roshya
Age: 17
Gender: female
Sexual Orientation: undecided
Rank: weyrling
Physical Appearance: Roshya is rather short, leanly muscled from her work, and tanned from working outdoors. Roshya is almost never seen wearing cosmetics or sporting a new hairstyle, mostly because she views these things inappropriate to her work, with which she is almost obsessed. Strangely she views her hands, square palmed appendages with short clever fingers, as her best feature probably because she uses those hand so much to communicate with the beasts she trains.
Roshya’s eyes are a dark almost black shade of brown with little variation across the iris, these eyes are often narrowed with concentration and always soft with compassion for both human and animal. Her hair is her one vanity, this mass of soft red toned brown strands is allowed to fall to her waist though its usually tied back in a plait to keep it out of her face.
Roshya’s face is often graced with a small smile, as if she’s watching something endearing, since she finds runners, even the ugly ones her grandfather breeds, to be sweet and endearing, she usually is. When she’s not smiling she’s often wearing a tiny frown of deep concentration.
Roshya refuses to be a decent hold girl and wear skirts, stating, accurately, that she’d never be able to get on with her work on them. Her only skirt is her gather day best,, the rest of the time she wears trousers and shirts that once belonged to her father and uncles in various shades of brown.
Personality: Roshya should come with a warning because the first thing people inevitable notice about her is that she has a stubborn streak about as wide as an ox cart (or what ever the Pernese equivalent is, I know they took oxen with them to Pern…), yet despite an overwhelming determination to get her own way Roshya is never harsh or cruel, and her methods tend to just ignoring the subject rather than outright argument.
When she’s not being stubborn about something or another Roshya’s a got a calm steady personality with a tendency to think things through logically rather than panicking.
She reveres her grandfather, partly as a parent figure and partly for his knowledge of runnerbeasts, plus he’s one of the few people she can’t out-stubborn, whatever the old man says takes one properties of holy truth in Roshya’s mind.
History: Once there was a man who had four sons, none of whom would follow in his footsteps raising and training runners. Instead his first son became a seaman and eventually came to own his own ship, his second and third sons took to the weaver’s craft as if born to it, and his youngest son, a lad who caused any amount of trouble when so minded, became an apprentice Harper.
In time the youngest son travelled north to Harper hall, there he fell madly in love with a young woman, and continued his training of course. In time the couple had two daughters, and the Harper son, whose name was Randal in case it matters, decided to take his family and go back to the south before his children could suffer the same treatment as their mother.
The mother (who shall remain unnamed because Kisha is lazy) was generally badly treated and was raped before she met Randal leaving her with a fear of men that it was left for Randal to overcome. Randal was both appalled and outraged when he finally managed to get the story out of her. Though this kind of treatment seemed to be common in the north it never ceased to shock Randal that people could be so unfeeling. This translated into an urge to see his daughters safe, or at least safer, in the south once they were old enough to travel.
Randal travelled the south with his family in tow for many turns. However his younger daughter Roshya always caused him embarrassment. She refused to be a demure hold girl as she was expected to be, challenged the hold lads to wrestle with her, which she always lost, and to ride against her, which she nearly always won. Randal was at his wit’s end with the girl and remained so until he returned to Selenitas Hold to visit his father.
While the family was there the old man, Kintas, noticed his granddaughter had an affinity for animals and offered to foster her, thinking he’d found the child who would follow his way.
Randal had always treated his daughters like they were intelligent so he asked thirteen turn old Roshya in all seriousness what she like to do. She expressed a wish to stay with her grandfather and his ugly runnerbeasts.
In the coming turns Roshya learned that the runners looked ugly because her grandfather didn’t breed them for looks but firstly for intellignce, then for stamina, speed, ect, with looks coming last on a long list for the solid large headed animals. Kintas also taught her, as a matter of course how to train his runners and ‘speak’ to them.
The proudest moment of Roshya’s life thus far is training her own runnerbeast without assistance from her grandfather two turns back. The second proudest was when Kintas acquired a firelizard egg and gave it to her, stating that she would be able to give the ‘lizard a better, and longer, life than he would
Roshya was recently Searched and came to Selenitas to stand for Aslath’s clutch, and Impressed the last dragonet to hatch, the small light blue Sheyath.
Dragon:
Name: Sheyath
Color: blue
Age: less than one turn
Physical Appearance: Small as an average green, Sheyath appears almost white. He is the pale, pale blue of Northern ice, the light color deepest near his spine, and either so faint as to be unnoticeable or actually nonexistent along his underbelly. Any form of light on his hide causes him to shimmer brilliantly. In truth, most people would swear he was another Ruth were it not for the white marking, slightly off-center, along his snout. This marking contrasts the color of his hide enough to make the truth transparent.
If ever there was the perfect example for the average proportions of a dragon, this example lies within the young blue. Nothing is overlarge or too small. As a whole, yes, he is diminutive compared to others of the same color, but that can easily be overlooked when his every movement radiates a quiet confidence. Sheyath’s small frame is infused with a grace not typically reserved for dragons, even as a hatchling. He is not awkward at all. The ground seems the most natural place for him to be confined to, though it’s suspected that he’ll be just as perfect in the air.
Personality: Though he may seem a tad feminine, being so light-colored and as small as his green sisters, this blue’s personality will swiftly convince any observers otherwise. He is a stolid, quiet presence. Even without saying a word, just having Sheyath around will inevitably make everyone just a little calmer. The blue absolutely never speaks to any human but His. He’s one to hoard his words and his affection. Even his rider will rarely be gifted with one of his comments, though he’ll often support her with a feeling or emotion through their bond. When Sheyath does choose to speak, he always speaks softly, and without a hint of hesitance or doubt.
He is the quintessential protector. Chivalrous, Sheyath will be far quicker to come to the aid of what he sees as a beleaguered female than he would a male, but all of his clutchmates will know the security of his loyalty. If there is a natural leader in the group of dragons, the blue is the natural supporting player. Even if he is not always open himself, he is mindful of others, and as such is often sensitive to their needs and desires. Many will come to find him to be a staunch friend and easy to confide in. While he isn’t given to emotional displays, Sheyath will step up if he feels a clutchmate, their bonded, or any of the weyr is in danger.
While his unwavering confidence is certainly a boon in most cases – and at the very least reassuring to those who come to rely on him – Sheyath is not one to admit he is wrong easily. It takes very convincing evidence to change his viewpoint or approach on anything, and if he does prove to be wrong, the male often goes into a sullen cloud for a few days. And whenever the topic is brought up again. Being right is a matter of pride to him, which is perhaps why he speaks so seldom.
Fire Lizard:
Name: Riss
Color: blue
Age: 1 turn
Physical Appearance: a whippy, long limbed and tailed ‘lizard. His hide is a spattered mess of dark blue and white splotches, Roshya has been known to remark that it looks like he had white paint flicked at him.
Personality: Skittish and shy, Riss is most often found on Roshya’s shoulder trying to hide in her hair, he has an irritating habit of twisting his tail around Roshya’s neck when frightened and almost strangling her.
