Humans
Name: Hennai
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Rank: Green Wherling/Senior Apprentice Dragonhealer
Physical Appearance:
Black hair with light brown, almost amber eyes, and standing at 5'8". Her hair reaches to the middle of her back and is completely straight, not even the hint of a wave or curl. She generally keeps it up off her neck in a runner's tail or braid. Her clear blue eyes are always taking things in and hardly miss anything that happens around her, whether she has been there many times or not. She has filled out somewhat. She has curves in all the right places, and her chest area is…. moderate. Not eye catching but enough to make a man still look. She has a nice simple chin that moves up to high cheekbones. She has thin wide lips and thin eyebrows. She wears dark colors that go well with her olive complexion. She doesn’t dress up that much except for special occasions. She has a simple dark green dress that she keeps in her clothes press until she wears it. She prefers to wear tunics and trousers. She has a simple ring of silver that she wears constantly that is the only thing she has of her father. He’d bought it for her on her eleventh birthing day.
Personality:
Tenacious, outgoing, romantic, domineering. Hennai is a very tenacious person when it comes to things that she has a deep involvement in. Especially when it comes to Whers. She loves whers and her beautiful green Hensk. She would do anything for her green Wher. She has a deep mindset when she is going about her duties, and does not tolerate any foolishness or fooling around. She has a business-like manner when dealing with anyone of a high rank. She is not the first one to relax and kick back when things are done, making sure everything is as it should be before she’ll allow herself to even think about relaxing. She is a very outgoing person, she’ll always greet people with a sincere smile and handshake. She is very friendly and likes to spend time with her friends if her duties will allow. Her favorite thing to do in her spare time is go for a hike with her friends.
Hennai is a highly romantic woman, and dreams of meeting the perfect male Wherhandler to be her mate. Though if you try and tell her there is no such thing as the Perfect Male Wherhandler, she’ll start to cry and say that that isn’t true. And then you will get an earful of ‘how there is the perfect mate on Pern for every person’, and not to mention that ‘I just haven’t found him yet’, and don’t forget the ‘that’s no excuse for me to not be looking and hoping’. Yes, she is a highly hopeless romantic. Though some might name her as an airhead when it comes to romance with Hennai. But when it comes to the training of Wherlings, Hennai is domineering and her business-like mannerism is back in full swing. She has a specific way when it comes to training Wherling Handlers. If she were on Earth, she’d be in the military. She has a quick mind and a flashing temper to bodes ill for anyone when she loses it.
History:
Whers were all Hennai knew as a young girl. Both of her parents were handlers, her mother, Nimai of green Nimask and her father, Henrel of brown Henresk, Selenitas Weyr. She knew Weyr living and loved it, growing up around Dragons and Whers. She ran with the other Weyrbrats, causing trouble, and taking the punishment for sticking that dead tunnelsnake there, and dumping that boiling pot of fresh made klah on that boy’s head. The usual feats of young children. She even shared the fighting as well with the bullies, even had one of her front teeth knocked out during a scuffle with a mean girl. The girl ended up with a black eye and a busted lip from Hennai. It paid to have two older brothers to learn how to fight from. As well as having their fair share of bruises and cuts from their own sibling rivalry. She learned to roll with the punches and make sure she got some in before the fight got broken up. At the age of eleven, Hennai witnessed the impression of Shmee to gold Aslath in Turn 3006, as well as heard of the Weyrwoman’s daughter’s suicide. Because she was so young, Hennai didn’t understand why the Weyrwoman’s daughter had killed herself. Though she did think the girl stupid for taking her own life like that, if a bit shameful. Despite herself, Hennai respected Shmee and hoped that the young goldrider would prove to be worthy of being Selenitas’ Weyrwoman. Hennai felt a need to apprentice to the Dragonhealing craft, wanting to help as best she could to heal the dragons. She was taken under the Master Dragonhealer's wing shortly after she'd turned 12 Turns of age.
Hennai was about thirteen when her oldest brother, Thalain, had purchased a firelizard egg and gave it to her as a late birthing day gift when he arrived back at the Weyr. Thalain had been sent to the Smith Hall not long after he’d apprenticed to the craft and was now a Journeyman. He’d managed to save most of his earned marks to buy the firelizard egg. The egg hatched a few days later. It was a cute little green firelizard. Hennai went to feed it, but something spooked the little firelizard and she went between and never came back. Hennai was distraught at the loss of her birthing day gift. She ran from the house and her brother went after her. He promised he’ll get her another firelizard egg. She nodded and said ‘ok’, though she doubted that she’d ever get another one. At the age of 15, Hennai was searched golden Queen Aslath‘s clutch. She accepted but she was left standing. To Hennai, the changes in Weyrleadership was confusing to her. She rarely paid any attention unless it was a Gold Rising and a clutch was laid. Other than that, she didn’t really much care who was Leader and who wasn’t. Though it always surprised her when this Weyrwoman was killed or that Weyrleader was poisoned, or vise versa. Nothing really surprised her much after she’d been left standing. She stood for many hatchings, and she never help any hope of impression except for the thoughts of welcome and love she held in her mind during each hatching. She heard the keening of the dragons and heard that Weyrlings were being killed by Benden Weyr. Weren’t Riders supposed to be protectors, not murderers? Hennai was afraid for the Weyrlings. She hated Bended Weyr with a deep, undying hate. When goldrider, Kaegan and her gold Millieth, suddenly arrived, Hennai was suspicious about them. She believed they were spies sent by Benden Weyr to spy on Selenitas Weyr. And then the attack on Kaegan and Millieth’s clutch during changed Hennai’s tune. She even helped to defend the clutch hatching from the attack. She got a few bumps and bruises, and a few cuts and nicks too.
She continued on with her Candidacy, and her studies as Senior Apprentice Dragonhealer, standing for dragon and wher clutches, but she was always left standing. She was teased by another girl that had also been left standing after Hennai’s eighth clutch she had been left standing at. Hennai hated that other girl but tolerated her in the hopes that she would finally impress and the other girl would not. Turns passed and Hennai turned 20. She was standing for another clutch, but it was gold Neisk‘s clutch. It was the fifth egg to hatch. Dark cracks began to appear on the sides of the Skeletal Egg, beginning in the most spontaneous of places, as though the wherlet within was indecisive as to what it was doing. There was another moment of pause, though, and then one of the cracks widened, branching open as the hatchling within sought to free itself. With a resounding crack, the shell split open to spill a clumsy, vividly green wherlet onto the bed of straw and furs, the female squeaking in loud surprise at her sudden entrance into the world. She slowly righted herself, glancing around with large, wide eyes as she took in the still-chaotic scene around her. The Skeletal Green glanced around, eyes flashing brightly. She did not like being left out, oh no, she most certainly did not. With an indignant chirp, she moved forward to run down the furs, instead slipping, tumbling the rest of the short, and thankfully soft way. She scrambled to her feet, practically vibrating with energy as she glanced around. It took her only a moment of pause before she launched herself at the nearest Candidate, practically bowling Hennai over from the force of her leap. Her Hensk had found her, after all, and she was quite hungry. Hennai was surprised when the green wherlet chose her. For the bonded pair, Wherling Training was a blur, but filled with many happy and sad memories.
And then came the Firelizard plague. Hennai was so sad for the little cousins of the dragons. She felt helpless, so very helpless. She so badly wanted to help them, but she knew there was nothing she could do to help at all. She didn’t know what she could do when the poisoning started. She wasn’t a Healer, so she felt just as helpless as when the Firelizard plague hit. She was angry when Shmee was poisoned. It was so unfair! Some of the people she respected above others got the short end of the straw. And she resented it. She only hoped that some good would come from such tragedy. There was a glimmer of hope, for on the sands was a gold egg. Hennai stood for the clutch, but again was left standing. She witnessed the little gold bond to another girl. Savitri, she thought the girl’s name, and hoped that this girl would give hope to Selenitas Weyr. Hope that she, and a few others she was sure, needed.

Name: Hensk (Skeletal Egg)
Color: Green [3af243]
Age: 8 Months
Physical Appearance:
Hensk is a tall green wher, though she isn't exactly what one could be called muscular. She is certainly more bulky than her sisters, but she is still stringy and lanky looking from whatever angle. Her neck looks a bit longer than average, as do her legs and wings, but her tail is surprisingly short. It isn't exactly blunt, but would be regular length on a smaller wher and looks slightly out of place on her. Because of her long legs and slightly larger wings, at least length-wise, Hensk is quite the swift wher on the ground, outrunning the vast majority of whers. Coupled with her seemingly endless supply of energy, this green wher is quite the speedster.
Hensk is also quite brightly colored. The base coloration of her hide is a bright, vibrant green that almost seems to glow in a certain light. This is strange, though, for waves of a lighter green and a darker shade ripple across her back and flank, making it look as though she is almost moving. These waves continue down her tail and are also apparent around her neck. The only place her coloring is truly solid, for there is a slight bit of dappling on her limbs, is on her face, which is a solid mask of vibrant green.
Personality:
Hensk is an undeniably energetic wher, almost always in motion, both physically and mentally. She has a surprisingly short attention span, though this by no means makes her stupid, for she remembers quite a bit of what she views, and more so of what she smells. In fact, she never forgets a scent, which makes her an excellent tracker. She is easily distracted, though, and often stops in the middle of something, going off to investigate an interesting smell or do something else that whers often do. Whatever that may be.
Hensk is also a bit over-enthusiastic about matters, especially her handler. She has no grace, surprisingly, and often bumbles about without a thought to those around her, though she does care if she injures someone. Injuries happen often, sadly, for she also has no sense of personal space and often sticks herself quite bodily in someone's face, sometimes in the literal sense. She can never sit still for too long, and while affectionate and loving for her bonded, she finds it too hard to listen to many and will only obey gold whers and dragons, as well as the occasional bronze.
