I'mny gathered a bunch of old riding straps, carefully checking them over for small rips and nicks throughout the leather. Nothing was completely broken, but damaged enough to be dangerous and easy enough to fix, if given the right materials. He threw them in a small bag and re-entered his weyr, searching for the bottle of liquid that he'd been using to care for his own riding straps. The weyrlings had a bottle of their own, and straps of their own, of course, but he wanted to make sure he had his own in case he had to demonstrate to the dimglows how to use it. He also grabbed a couple small bottles of leather adhesive that was used to repair faulty leather. They would have to share, but they weren't little 'brats in the Creche, they could play nicely now.
Wake up, time to fly, I'mny told his dragon, not bothering to be polite. He'd gotten into a fairly heated argument with their neighbor a few days ago and he was still embarrassed at how his dragon had acted. Stupid wherry didn't know when to shut his maw. Seriously, messing with a Benden green? The bluerider shook his head at the thought of it. He hadn't bothered to be even remotely kind to the big blue wherry since then. He needed to shapen up.
She started it, Tekisith growled, rising to his feet. He was going to take His down to instruct the dimglows, but he wasn't going to like it. Then he was going to find somewhere else to sun. His had forbidden him to sun on his ledge for the next sevenday, hoping to prevent a repeat incident with their neighboring green. That's what they always say, I'mny responded, mounting fluidly and easily sweeping his hair and head into his riding helmet. He placed his bag in front of him and gave his dragon the signal to fly. Which basically meant giving him a kick mentally. I'mny was not being nice this morning.
The blue simply snorted, flicking his tail a bit as he took off, jarring His. I'mny chose to ignore the motion, keeping his seat easily. He had a lesson to teach and his dragon was going to get him there. He would ignore all of his little attempts at irritating his rider. Tekisith felt the emotion of indifference coming from His and it irritated him even further. He managed a rocky landing, making sure that the jolting focused on his rider and then immediately took off again as soon as one of I'mny's feet was on the ground. Prepared for that move, the bluerider vaulted back and managed not to find himself on the ground. "Stupid wherry," he muttered, entering the classroom.
Call the weyrlings, he told his dragon, laying the bag of straps by the door and placing a small bottle of adhesive in front of every five chairs. They could pass it around. And tell them to grab some straps as they're coming through the door in addition to bringing their own and their maintence tonics, he added a bit belatedly. Oh well, he knew the blue was delaying just to annoy him. He wasn't too late to add that to the message.
Grumbling, the blue relayed the message after a few moments, Little leeches, lesson time. Bring your straps and your maintenance tonics and grab another pair of straps at the door.[/b][/color] There. His duty was done.
As the weyrlings finally began to filter in, I'mny looked them over. "Take a seat and listen up. Today we're going to learn how to care for and repair our riding straps. First rule of straps is to never use them if they have a tear in them. You must always repair them first, or you'll end up falling off and hoping that you're close enough to the ground not to die. If the leather even looks like it's going to break, you use the tonic on the entire strap and then you use the adhesive on the cracked section. There should be adhesive bottles by some of the chairs. I want you to take the straps that you got by the door and properly repair them. I want them to be as usable as possible when I check. You have ten minutes." With that said, he sat down, ready to watch the chaos erupt. Three bottles, twelve weyrlings, and a time limit. Yea, this was sure to be good.
