He hated himself for being so helpful sometimes. K'nam rubbed his temples gently as he entered the classroom, tilting his head slightly to make his neck crack. Picking the desks up, he moved them against one wall, leaving one open for the children to line up upon. Well, there was only one thing to do now. Bearinth, please call the weyrlings. Remembering a bit belatedly, he added, Also, please ask Ciceroth to request Ka'rys's attendance as well. Remind the weyrlings to--bring their straps, I know, Bearinth said in a slightly aggravated voice. K'nam had asked him earlier, but between making sure Scamp stayed out of his clothing and going over the lesson plans, his bonded seemed to have forgotten that he had already told him to do this before. The bronze called to the tropical children of Millieth and their bondeds, his voice more friendly than it had been previously with His. It is time for your lesson! Please bring your straps for inspection, and be prepared for some gliding later. Don't delay; we have much to do! Once he was done, he spoke to Ciceroth, preferring to avoid the intimacy of speaking simply to one person rather than the group as he had just done. Ciceroth, can you please tell Yours that he is needed at the Weyrling Barracks for the Tropical clutch's lesson?K'nam stretched his arms, listening as he heard stirring in the barracks. So, they would be here soon. As they began entering, the bronzerider drew a friendly smile on his face. Were they here? "As you may have noticed, I'm not your regular teacher. I am K'nam of Bearinth and I'll be replacing Weyrlingmaster I'mny for today." "Please, stand against the wall," he indicated with a sweep of his hand, "with your straps. They inspector will be alone shortly for examination and then we can get onto the fun part of today's lesson." Leaning against I'mny's desk, he watched the weyrlings, waiting for Ka'rys to show. Maybe this would all go smoothly. That would be nice. "While we're waiting, any questions?" Attendance: T'nmor of bronze Jedirth S'adi of bronze Sitieth (Missed 3) Q'in of brown Russeth (Missed 1) N'tian of brown Elleoth (Missed 2) A'viar of blue Benath (NPC) L'ron of blue Fortith T'ra of blue Gartoth (NPC) D'niel of blue Zorith (NPC) Devai of green Sendreth (Missed 3) Janisi of green Storith (Missed 1) Sikowy of green Linoth (Missed 2) Fiona of green Raiyth ((We've decided that those who have missed have a grace time: only the last three lesson's attendance are being used for attendance.))

That wasn't I'mny. Tilting his head at the new voice, L'ron blinked curiously, listening. "Maybe he's finally gone," the lad said, stretching as he looked for his straps. He had taken good care of them, had been certain to do what was required of him, mainly because Fortith was not going to allow him to do anything stupid that would result in him not getting to fly.
Perhaps. Hurry along, Fortith answered lazily, stretching quietly while L'ron grabbed his straps, walking down to the classroom to spot the desks moved and a wall clear. Was he the first one here? Splendid. Observing their new teacher, he gathered him to be strong, capable, but likely to be another among the many of the less intelligent people in the Weyr. He identified K'nam as a bronzerider from memory, receiving confirmation from Fortith to affirm his suspicions.
I'mny's absence made him ponder, though he didn't dwell on it for long. After all, the man had been an annoyance who failed to teach them well enough and for whatever reason he was absent, L'ron was going to take it as a blessing and move on. Crossing his arms, he leaned against the wall, shaking his head at the request for questions. No doubt, someone else, if they ever showed up, would inquire after I'mny, and that, L'ron noted, might be interesting, to see their teacher's response. Nevertheless.
For a moment, he was curious about who the inspector was that the 'rider had failed to name, but he supposed it would either be K'nam, which seemed unlikely as he seemed to be waiting for someone, or a wingleader. That was one definite plus side to be bonded with a blue: not having to be considered important by the large mind of the masses. He much preferred being left to his own doings rather than having to do things for everyone else, and, due to Fortith's nature, it seemed unlikely that he would ever be called upon to do more than what was necessary, which seemed a delightful idea.

Fiona gave Raiyth's shoulder one last swipe with the rag and then promptly stepped back to admire her work, fairly dancing from foot to foot at how lovely and shiny her beautiful mindmate was. Oh, Raiyth never looked anything less than gorgeous in Fi's eyes, but right now, she positively shone. Perhaps it was the oil... or the fact that she was posing quite prettily and just happily absorbing every positive thought that Fiona sent her way. That could certainly be considered a good candlemark's work, and Raiyth had never looked so lovely in her short life. Or.... had she? Well, whatever the case, she was a beautiful specimen of a green right now, and Fiona just took the time to admire.
Then a deep and wholly unfamiliar mental tone startled both females, and Fiona very nearly jumped into the air. Clutching her chest, the young woman let out a quick breath and shook her head. That had certainly been quite a shock, and she took a moment to digest the words. Lessons... straps.... gliding?! The curly-haired teen almost started to bounce at the mere thought, and her dragon joined in her enthusiasm, flapping her green wings until Fiona managed to calm them both down. "Down, lovey, down. Must find straps... must find boots," the girl muttered, gently patting and kissing Raiyth on her oily nose before adjusting her clothing--thank goodness she had worn pants today!--and then tugging on one boot. The other boot took some searching for, and she eventually found it wedged between cot and wall. Strange. How had it gotten there?
Raiyth covered her head with one wing and crooned in helpless amusement as Fiona hopped in near circles around the room in her attempts to get the offending boot onto her foot, her excitement and bouncing making said action nearly impossible. Go, Mine! You can not be late, or they may not let us glide. I want to glide! she insisted plaintively, watching as the girl finally got all her apparel settled. The straps are over there. The green pointed one wing, watching Fiona snatch them up. Hurryhurry! I want to glide!
Giggling at her dragon's enthusiasm, Fiona fairly skipped down the hall toward the lesson room. So excited were she and Raiyth about flying that she had fussed and coddled her riding straps nonstop for the past few sevendays. Maintenance tonic was applied daily, and she had gone over it section by section to make sure it was flawless. She wanted nothing in the way of their flying time, and so it was with good spirits that she trotted into the lesson room, fidgeting a little and lining up next to the other boy--ooh, he had that scary blue, didn't he?!--along the wall. The instructor was... not I'mny. He was nicer. Better-looking too, and she had to fight to keep from smiling too much. K'nam, was it? Well, she liked him quite a bit already. He was not barking at them.
A small part of her mind briefly wondered where the absent weyrlingmaster was, but she reasoned that it was probably really rude to ask. She was not about to protest the change in authority, even if it was only temporary. This bronzerider--cute bronzerider, kind bronzerider--was nice. So, Fi just stood. And fidgeted. And waited..... waited for whatever 'inspector' would come to investigate their straps. Well, Fi had been extremely picky about the state of her straps, just to be safe, so hopefully there would be no faults found. At the weyrlingmaster's question, she shook her head and smiled happily. Nope, no questions.... yet.

Storith cocked her head and thought for a moment despite the fact that she was fairly trembling with excitement. That was not Tekisith. she commented, now parctially bouncing in place while Janisi collected her riding straps.
Maybe I’mny had heart failure when people didn’t turn up to lessons. Or apoplexy. Janisi suggested with a bitter edge to her tone. She’d had to repeat a lesson thanks to those slackers! With swift efficiency the girl stripped off the skirt she had been wearing and grabbed up a pair of trousers.
Hurry up. I want to glide. I want to glide very badly! Do you know what? I’ve been practicing with my wings! Look! Storith sat up on her haunches and flapped her wings furiously, sending loose bits of paper, and a cloud of dust, flying around the room.
That’s really good Storith but you do want to do this lesson don’t you? Janisi sneezed at the suddenly airborne dust. Storith stopped flapping almost instantly and resumed her excited hopping from foot to foot. Janisi laughed and practically ran out off the door with her straps in hand.
So, this guy was replacing I’mny for the lesson, or maybe longer? Well that was just fine with Janisi! She joined the line by the wall cheerfully. She’d been a little obsessed with her straps recently, with the knowledge that Storith and her clutch mates would soon be learning to fly Janisi had diligently applied tonic to the leather every day to make sure they wouldn’t chafe her precious green. She supposed everyone was like that at first. For no particular reason Janisi wondered if the other dragons were as excited as Storith about flying.
