[[So sorry this was so late. Can you find it in your hearts to forgive me? D;]]
Clover watched as the small cloth ball filled with rice bounced up and down, the green salamandyr’s head bobbing up and down with the ball’s movements. Aryna didn’t seem to notice, her eyes following the ball as well as she used various limbs to keep the ball from touching the ground. It looked as if she was completely focused on her little one-person game, but she soon proved otherwise. Dramuth, give the little darlings a holler, will you? It was early, early enough that the jungle was silent, caught between the time when the night-prowling creatures went to bed for the day and the light dwellers rose with the sun. There was a blossom of color spreading across the sky, but inside the jungle it was dusky and would take a while for eyes to adjust. Aryna continued her game as her brown unfurled and yawned, his eyes shining bright in the gloom.
Weyrlings, rise. It is time for your lesson; you are to meet the same place as last time. That done, he swiveled his head to look at his rider, who was balancing on one foot with the other raised, the ball cradled on the top of her foot. Much to the brown’s amusement, Clover chose that moment to swoop down and snatch the brightly-colored fabric ball from her bonded, using her little wings to dive then glide away as Aryna gave an abrupt “hey!” in protest. The sound of vegetation crunching and Clover’s triumphant trill could be heard as the ‘mandyr landed with her new toy. “You little…” Aryna glared in the direction that Clover had gone, resisting the urge to stomp after her. But she wasn’t going to go charging into the jungle after the green before daylight. It would have to wait until after the lesson.
Muttering to herself, Aryna walked over to lean against Dramuth and fold her arms, looking cross. The truth was, she was just pouting, and would forget about it as soon as the weyrlings started to show up. By the tree she’d left a small pack which contained a few things… a few chunks of firestone, the blindfolds they’d used last time, and a first aid kit, among other things. “Hopefully they’ll show up on time today, eh Dramuth?” The brown merely uttered a low rumble in response to his rider; he’d found a bed of soft jungle creepers and they were wonderfully cool against his hide. Now there was nothing to do but settle down and wait.

K'dran jumped up hearing an incessant voice in his head. And incessantly angry voice practically roaring inside his head. Jumping up off the cot, gasping for air like a dead man taking his final drowning breathe, his eyes swung around the room unseeingly. By now he should be used to waking up at any moment but K'dran was used to hearing a person moving about and slowly awakening on his own. Now he sat up on his cot, staring down at Risith as if he had never seen him before in his life. There must be something wrong with the dragon to wake him up in such a way.
And something was wrong. Something was terribly wrong. Rukbat had not risen yet but Risith was awake. And why is that, Mine? Hmmm? Why am I awake and Rukbat is not? The little bronze practically quivered in his rage, angry that he had been awaken. To attend a lesson. Before the skies lit with any real light. His eyes whirled red madly, his nostrils blowing out air hard. Risith was definitely not in a good mood.BECAUSE, Mine! Our lovely Weyrling Master has a strange obsession with the morning hours. And demands our presence back at the Jungle Edge, before Rukbat has fully risen. We are suppose to 'just wakeup' and trot happily over for lessons. I need my sleep!Choosing not to start a fight with Risith this morning and seeing no way to escape the lesson just to please Risith, K'dran stood up to put on his clothes for Lessons. Here Risith, how about I oil you before the Lesson? They were on time this morning so he could take a moment to sooth Risith and oil him. "To make him look pretty."
Taking the time to oil Risith well, scratching him and just generally fussing over him to make him feel better, K'dran called a halt to the oiling so that they would still make it to the lesson on time. The oiling and preening had not taken up much time but they needed to get going. But it took K'dran practically pushing Risith out the door and toward the Jungle the entire time. K'dran tried his best to coax a better mood out of the bronze but he was resisting every attempt. He did not want to do this. He did not want to be told when he had to wake up. Let's just get this over. We can take a nap after the Lesson. I don't want a nap afterwards, I want it NOW. At this point they had reached the Candidate master and even K'dran was growing frustrated with Risith. Hi Weyrlingmaster. But Risith was hardly as gracious, remaining quiet, all but glowering at the older pair. Oh joy. Today's lesson would be fun with Risith. At least they were the first ones there instead of how embarrassingly late they had been previously.

Celeyn was not nearly as grouchy this time around when Foglith crept over to awaken her for Lessons. Lately she had not been sleeping very well and Foglith nosing her to awaken had been coming as a relief. Sweet relief, she never thought she would be so happy to see herself awake before the Rukbat had fully risen. And indeed Celeyn was happy. Her face lit into a smile even while her eyes were opening and still adjusting to seeing again. Fog..lith.. That hushed gentle voice nearly made Foglith want to dance. Celeyn had awaken happy and soft, she lovedd Hers like this. None of those weird conflicting emotions, no anger or hurt. Just Celeyn as soft and gentle as her voice. The Celeyn that only Fog saw.
Stretching and standing up so she could change her clothes, the little green followed her around happily, just wanting to savor the moment. This was such a rare time for the two of them. Half the time, Fog got the feeling that Celeyn might be hiding from her but that was silly. Why would Hers hide from her?
Fully dressed Celeyn took one last moment of the too-early-morning's stillness to have for herself before the day. Celeyn also loved this time, when all she had was Foglith near her. And what did that old hurt matter for when in the end she had Fog? Smiling down at the directions her thoughts were taking with the early morning foginess, Celeyn abruptly bent down to hug Foglith impulsively. Celeyn did love Fog, sometime it was just hard to express that. Sometimes she was scared to. But for now while Pern still slept, it seemed fine to let her guard down. Foglith even seemed surprised by the hug, Celeyn actually bending down to touch her and stroke her hide, it was unusual to say the least. But Foglith liked it.
The pair took their time arriving at the lesson, watching Rukbat rise, they even debated on whether their was time to stop by the Main Hall and get a quick bowl of food. Their heads butted when Celeyn said yes but Foglith said no though Foglith did eventually win. It seemed Foglith might possibly be more stubborn than Celeyn was. Strolling together, looking like they were more in harmony than they had been thus far, the pairing pulled up to the destination, Foglith leading the way while Celeyn followed quietly. Perhaps today would be a good day. Perhaps Celeyn would socialize some? Foglith hoped so.
Hmmm... Imagine that. Hardly anyone here at all. Disgraceful weyrbrats.. Or maybe not. Celeyn murmured the words very quietly to Foglith, stopping to look at the area in which the lesson 'should be' as if challenging it. Mine. Rukbat has not fully risen yet, there has hardly been time for others to get here, we were just quicker because you were ready to wake. Celeyn raised an eyebrow in a highly offended way before shaking her head. They would not have dared this if Sera had been here. Celeyn whispered the words for Foglith alone.

((Oh my… pleasepleasepleaseplease forgive me, Boober!!!!!))
Love, Dramuth… Dramuth says that it’s time for the lesson. she flicked her tail groggily, shifting to find a more comfortable position as Lyelle slowly woke up. It was too early, but she had a feeling that she really needed to wake up… “What is it, Pipsissoth my dear?” Another tail flick. Weyrling Lesson. The weyrling was up.
Oh shards oh shards oh shards oh shards oh shards oh shards…
How had she not gone to the past two lessons? Lyelle didn’t know how she had missed them, but she knew that Pipsissoth had informed her yesterday that they had missed them. Apparently, Lyelle had been sleeping the first time, and the green didn’t want to wake her. The second time, she had been in the middle of her chores, and Pip thought she was in the middle of something very important.
Well, she was going to this one, that was to be sure! With a quick word to Ril, the green curled up on the cot, for once not minding to leave her bonded. She wanted to sleep! Of course Ly and Pipsissoth wanted to do the same, but they weren’t deadglows. They needed to go to the lesson, and that was that. The weyrling quickly left their room, entering the Common Room before stopping dead. “My love, where is the lesson?” Dramuth said the same time as last time…
Oh shards. Neither of them knew where the last lesson had been located… Shells. Pipsissoth searched her mind, but dragons never tended to have very sophisticated memories, and they both came up drawing blanks. It got to the point that they waited in the common room until someone passed through, going to the lesson, and Lyelle and her green followed them to the jungle’s edge. They never would have found this. Never.
But by Faranth, at least they were here! Lyelle didn’t pay attention to the view, or the chatter among the few weyrlings that were here now, only the fact that she and Pip were here. Which that, in itself, was a feat in and of itself!
Pipsissoth wasn’t her usual bouncy happy self, if only because she still immensely groggy. Still, she was happy to finally be at a lesson. It would be fun to learn something new, and she was excited. No doubt that her sleepy fog would disappear when the rest of the weyrlings arrived, and the lesson started.

J’on sat up and blinked looking around the dim room. Rinagth, why isn’t it light? he asked his dragon, rather confused. Rinagth snorted and flared her wings out. That would be because the sun has not deigned to rise yet. It is early. The green informed him in a snippy tone.
J’on yawned and tumbled out of the furs, absently noting as he tugged on a pair of trousers that O’dan and Emerith weren’t in the room, those two seemed to have a positive affinity for pre daylight hours. He personally would be quite happy to go back to bed for a few hours. Rinagth hissed vilely from her couch. Don’t you dare even think that! I will not miss lessons for your laziness. I must show everyone how good I am. Well yes m’lord, no m’lady.
J’on struggled to pull his shirt over his head, then searched all over the place for his boots before recalling that he’d banished them to the corner behind the door for the great crime of stinking. All right Lady Rinagth. Let’s get to this lesson. He said once his boots were firmly laced onto his feet.
About time too. The green flowed off her couch strutted regally to the door, then transformed into a rapidly vanishing streak of vivid green and sparkling yellow as soon as the door was opened. ‘Rinagth, wait!’ J’on called after his mindmate, heading after her at speed. However Rinagth ran all the way to the lesson site, making taunting comments. By the time J’on arrived he was too out of breath to do anything but lift a hand in greeting

Savitri was an early riser by nature, but it still surprised her how early the brown mindmate of the weyrlingmaster summoned them for a lesson. The healer had been up, bathed, and fussing over Hepaticath for a bit, so it was not as though she had just been awakened. It was just... mildly odd. Most of the weyrlings would be dragging their behinds all the way, and though the image was amusing, Savitri had to wonder what practical purpose such early lessons would serve. Perhaps it was punishment for how few weyrlings had showed up less time? That would make sense, and she gently roused her still-drowsy mindmate. Up, Cath, love. Didn't you hear the summons?
The little gold stirred and retracted the lids on her compound eyes. She had been feigning sleep whilst Hers oiled some of the itchy spots in the hopes that the young woman would not desist her actions. However, being called on her ruse made her stretch her limbs and rise, surprised by how much smaller Hers was starting to look in comparison. Strange.... had SavitriHers always been so short? No, Hepaticath was growing... yes, that was why. She was eagerly awaiting being large enough to fly, as well as large enough to beat some of her 'playmates' in splashing contests. For all her dignity, the thought of actually being able to win a contest had her nearly giddy. She calmed herself, though, and focused one whirling eye on her bonded. I hear. I am hungry... she added wistfully, brightening considerably when Savitri rolled her eyes and showed her the pail of carefully-cut meat slices that the young woman had retrieved before her mindmate awoke. But we must hurry to not be late.
Luckily for them both, Hepaticath was an efficient eater, and the meal was more snack than anything else. Her endless appetite would have to be worked on later, after they arrived at their lessons on time. Savitri paused only a moment to do a mental check on Shadow, only to find that the 'mandyr had cozied himself into some niche in the kitchen after stealing a bellyful of meat. She rolled her eyes at the 'mandyrs antics and sent him an order to stay put, though she need not have worried. The lazily contented images he was sending her nonstop were reassurance enough that the creature had no inclination of moving anytime soon.
Having been there once before, it took them less time to get to the lesson site, and both gold and rider were appropriately bemused by the fact that only a few of the weyrlings had arrived. Savitri politely offered a 'good morning' to the weyrlingmaster and her dragon whilst Hepaticath offered a quiet croon. The gold was slightly distracted by the presence of her surly bronze clutchbrother, and as she and Savitri moved in closer to wait, Hepaticath took it open herself to nose at the glowering weyrling. You should be more polite to our weyrlingmaster. It is not her fault the others do not show up on time so that she must call earlier lessons. she rebuked him gently, heedless of Savitri's annoyance at her for doing so. Stop it, Cath. He doesn't need to be bossed or mothered. He should be more polite...

Stillith rolled and stretched, the beginnings of a rumbly tummy making his sleep restless. As'lin, too, wasn't sleeping well- had he been more alert, he would have blamed Stil, but as it was he wasn't sure what was making him so uncomfortable. Turning over, he punched at his pillow without really knowing what he was doing, trying to force it into a more comfortable shape. No such luck, unfortunately, and the Weyrling finally gave up and rolled out of bed, leaving Stillith to toss and turn as As'lin headed for the kitchens, now clear that he needed food for himself and his bonded so he could get a little more sleep.
But it was not to be. Arms full of meat and mouth full of redfruit, he rolled his eyes in exasperation, trying not to trip as he did so. Of course another lesson would be now, while he was short on sleep and trying to sooth a hungry dragon. For Stil was awake now, and DEFINATELY hungry, although he was being fairly quiet about it. I'm almost here with food, love but make sure you're ready to bolt it when I get back. We've got lesson.
I heard, Stil replied, quite quietly even for him. The little blue did not deal with hunger well, but typically he didn't want to bother his lifemate about it. It killed Stillith that he couldn't keep his strong feelings away from As'lin- he felt like he was imposing, no matter what As'lin did to reassure him otherwise.
But As'lin was up the ladder now, practically shoving food down Stil's throat as he himself finished his own breakfast and dressed appropriately for lesson. Shards, it would be nice when he and Stil could just between wherever they needed to be- they'd never be in a rush that way. Although, once As'lin thought about it, he realized that he'd just have slept the extra ten minutes or so it would take them to get to the jungle where the lesson was held. So much for that plan.
Not too much later, the pair entered the clearing. As'lin frowned slightly, and Stillith nudged up against his leg as he took a place on the outside of the circle. He only really knew Savitri, and kind of wished that he had managed to make friends with some of the other riders. As if he were in the mood to chat with people anyway. He probably could have stood with Savitri, but didn't really feel like it. Hoping Aryna wasn't looking for pleasantries at this ridiculous hour, he just looked at her, although Stillith offered a shy, quiet Hello, everyone.

O’dan wondered when he’d become such an early riser, in the past he’d always done his best to lounge indolently abed for as long as humanly possible. However recently he seemed to be seeing a great deal of predawn gloom, maybe it was Emerith who was the natural early riser as all his early morning activities were geared toward caring for her. Like right now he was standing around outside the barracks so he wouldn’t wake his roommates, and stuffing bits of meat into Emerith’s maw.
It is time for a lesson already, Dramuth says. Emerith commented, swallowing the last of her breakfast and licking drops of blood from her muzzle. We had better go, we don’t want to be late. She said regretfully, she had wanted a bath this morning. However O’dan didn’t look like he was about to dash off to a lesson.
C’mere love, I’m sorry I don’t have time to wash you properly but we’ve got time to get some oil on your itchy spots since we’re already up. Suiting action to word O’dan dipped a rag in the bucket of oil he’d brought out and began swiping it over Emerith’s beautiful blueish green hide, looking for an flaky places as he went.
Even with that little extra time spent, plus the time it took to return the bucket, O’dan felt to need to hurry to the lesson. He and Emerith almost strolled to the lesson, they were not the first pair to arrive, but they certainly wouldn’t be the last.
Idith dithered over whether or not to wake his chosen from his uneasy sleep. On the one hand it seemed R’aro could do with waking up, on the other the young bronze felt that his bonded could do with some sleep. In the end it was the departure of the other bronzepair that decided Idith. He stopped feigning sleep, evicted Telba from her perch on his right headknob, and walked the short distance to his sleeping rider. R’aro? Wake now please. We only have a little time remaining to get to our lesson. The firelizards added anxious chirps to Idith’s words and settled in a row along the edge of the cot.
R’aro snapped awake with a startled intake of breath, only to find eight yellow tinted eyes fixed on him. I am sorry but there is a lesson. You must dress quickly, I didn’t know whether or not to wake you. Idith apologised as R’aro shot up and began yanking clothes on at his dragon’s words. Why didn’t you wake me earlier Idith? He asked frustratedly as Jinka perched on him once his shirt was in place.
You do not seem to be sleeping well, I was uncertain if you needed more sleep to make up for that. Idith replied, his eyes picking up stronger yellow shades as he did so. Had he angered his chosen? T Idith’s relief R’aro only looked at Idith briefly before lacing his boots. Feel free to wake me anytime I’m tossing and turning like that. That kind of sleep is not very restful I will! Idith promised instantly.
R’aro smiled at Idith’s relief and watched the bronzes eyes return to their normal speed and colours. This morning was apparently going to be difficult if the Weyrlingmaster decided to evict all the firelizards and salamanydrs again since not one of R’aro’s flitters had settled back down to sleep. Jinka and Insi were clinging to his shoulders and Telba was catching a ride on Idith as the young dragon’s head appeared to the chubby green’s new favourite perch. Dramuth said nothing about them. Idith commented catching his bonded’s glance to the little greens. R’aro shrugged, he supposed that meant it didn’t matter if flitters came to this lesson or not.
Still feeling slightly guilty about bring flitters to the lesson R’aro wandered in with his shoulders hunched and mumbled an indistinct pleasantry to the Weyrlingmaster. Idith however strutted in as if Telba was a wonderful new fashion statement for dragons and greeted Aryna cheerfully. good morning!
Roshya muttered a mild curse, downed the remainder of her klah and snatched up her half eaten bread and trotted off to find Sheyath some food, as he would undoubtedly have woken up hungry. I’ll be with you soon Sheyath, I’m just getting you some food. She called out to her dragon. Thank you. her dragon replied quietly.
Roshya loped back to her room burdened with about half the meat Sheyath would usually eat in the morning. She didn’t want him to be too stuffed to move. You get on with eating that Sheyath, I’ll give your itchy spots a touch of oil before we go and do the rest later. Sheyath said nothing; he was already making inroads into his breakfast and had not much attention for anything else.
Sheyath was growing, there was no doubt about it, though the blue was still small in comparison to the other blues in his clutch and probably always would be, he definitely getting bigger. Soon Roshya would have to stretch to get to all of his itchy spots, and in less than a turn they would be learning to fly together. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to fly, probably even better than riding runnerbeasts.
Sheyath trotted neatly beside Roshya as she covered the ground from the weyrling barracks to the site of their former lesson at her easy lope. Today he chose where they would stand, taking a place near Hepaticath with quiet confidence. Roshya gave the Weyrlingmaster a nod and joined her dragon.

The Weyrlingmaster gave a few taps of her foot, watching as the weyrlings began to trickle in. She took notice of who was dragging, who seemed curious, and, of course, the disgruntled weyrlings. She returned greetings where they were given and ignored ones that weren’t, nudging Dramuth when the brown deigned to yawn at her. If he started complaining of the hour, she’d skin him. But he merely watched from his bed of creepers, tail twitching lightly as the weyrlings gathered. By the time Aryna pushed away from Dramuth, the sky had lightened considerably. She was done waiting. With a glance, she could see who was there and who wasn’t, and she made a mental note to herself before she straightened and made her way toward the group.
“Good morning, weyrlings.” The brownrider’s smile was deceptively sweet as she looked at all of them. For someone who wasn’t a morning person, she seemed awfully cheery. Perhaps it was because she’d already been up for a few hours… and she knew how annoying morning people were. “Since the majority of the class is here, we’ll start the lesson, but before we do, something needs to be said.” She paced idly, walking along the front of the group with her hands held neatly behind her back. “I spared you guys the whole ‘be here on time or else’ lecture because I thought it would be old news and you were mature enough to handle something so simple. For most of you, I was right, but since it seems as if I was wrong about a few of you, I’ll make the speech for the benefit of those few.” She paused and took a breath before turning to face the weyrlings again.
“Don’t be late to my classes. It annoys me. If you’re late, then I can find something for you to do after the lesson, before your chores, to make up for the time you missed.” There was that deceptively sweet smile again. “And absences. If you don’t show up and I don’t hear from or about you during the course of the lesson, then I’ll find a way for you to make it up. And I can just about promise that you will not like it. So for the sake of my good humor and your sanity… just show up. On time.” There seemed to be a couple of the weyrlings she was eyeing particularly hard throughout her speech before she turned her sharp gaze to one specifically. “Lyelle, so good of you to join us for this lesson! I can’t imagine what’s kept you from the first two, but now that you’re here, I’ll make good use of you.” A bright smile that somehow managed to be sarcastic was cast in the green weyrling’s direction before Aryna turned on her heel.
“Now that that bit of unpleasantness is over with, let’s start another.” She walked over and fetched the pack leaning against the tree. She opened one of the smaller pockets on the outside and took out what looked like two chunks of rock. “Catch.” One of these, she tossed at Savitri and the other went arcing through the air toward Celeyn. “I don’t know how many of you, if any, have seen firestone up close before, but pass those chunks around ladies. Get a good look at it. Most of you will likely use this stuff sometime in your future.” And here the droll tone crept back into her voice. “So what do you know about firestone?” The question hung on the air, loaded with expectancy. Clearly, this was not intended to be a rhetorical question.

Risith was so busy glowering and complaining to K'dran that he did not really notice Hepaticath's approach. When she made forward to greet the WeyrlingMaster, Risith was focused on making K'dran regret bringing him to the lesson. K'dranmine. Look, other did not come. SO WHY ARE WE HERE? Look at the Dramuth... just over there, laying around. I should be doing the same, in our own barracks. During this fuming rampage at K'dran, Risith felt the nose touch him. Someone was touching him and he was not in a good mood. Angry and fully prepared to blast away at whoever was interrupting his tirade Risith swung around.
Risith's eyes whirled madly at the intruder before immediately calming when he caught realized that it was Hepaticath. Ahh... his queen. He felt infinitely happier upon seeing her, his ire dying down quickly. Well, it seemed that this did have it's advantages. Cush as seeing Hepaticath. Though her words were not what he would have wanted to hear from her...but then the words he wanted to hear, such as, "Oh Risith, how wonderful and handsome and big and strong and amazing you are." ...yeah right but one could wish.
Giving her his best draconic smile, he responded brightly to her. He simply could do no other. It's not polite to wake people up while they sleep also. And why should we be punished for tardiness? Earlier lessons will hardly make late comers, early. He countered, completely skipping over the fact that he too had been one of the tardy attendees. But I will be nicer, if it makes you happy... Somehow that sentence sounded like there were a few strings attached. Risith smoothly eased his body closer to Hepaticath to waiting for her reaction. Anything if it meant closer to her.
K'dran looked apologetically to Savitri, smiling. "Sorry, he's not one for the morning." But the Weyrlingmaster cut off anything he might have said further. And he was not about to interrupt her while she was 'on a roll' so to speak, because he did not want to get caught in the line of flame. That would simply not be good thing at this point but Risith was only further frustrated by being interrupted. He clearly did not like being told what to do. He would have to find a way to work through that. Mine, you could at least pretend you are paying attention... I could.... but what's the point? Shaking his hand at Risith he watch as Aryna moved on to the lesson for today, tossing the firestone to two girls. One to Savitri, whom he offered a smile to and the other to Celeyn.
By the first shell, was she just going to stand there and look at the stone and the Weyrlingmaster? Seriously? K'dran held his breathe for a moment until Celeyn obviously made the decision to play along with the lesson. Thank Faranth. When she tossed the firestone, he visibly flinshed when she called out catch too late. Hopefully the otehr was paying attention. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Celeyn leaned against a tree, looking rather disgruntled, her eyes following Foglith around as she flitted back and forth, striking up a variety of conversations with different drgonets.
Hello there, Pipsissoth, good to see you here. How are you, Stillith? Rinagth! Lessons come so early but it's great so many can manage to wake themselves.
Obviously Foglith was one of those annoying creatures that woke up happy. Celeyn could not help herself, she all but rolled her eyes watching Foglith. She loved the dear creature but sometimes she wanted to throttle her. Like in early mornings when she moved about, cheerfully greeting everyone while Rukbat was probably still wiping the sleep out of it's eyes. And yes, Celeyn was humanizing rukbat. It kept her sane at times like this when she was not sure she could deal with her overly chipper mindmate. It still burned a little, in the very back of her mind where she was very careful to keep it away from Fog, that she was Aslath's daughter. And surely that was the reason she was so happy all the time, the constant happiness had to a mutation that Aslath gave off. It had to be.
Still watching Foglith, she barely lifted her eyes to glance at the Weyrlingmaster before looking back at the gatehred Weyrlings. Already they were starting to straighten out under the lecturing Aryna, dragons and people moving closer to form their pairs. Celeyn simply settled further into the nook of the tree she was leaning against as Foglith hurried back to her side. It was not that Celeyn particularly cared what the Weyrlingmaster was going on about but she did enjoy watching other squirm under the direct spotlight of her sarcastic tongue. Yes, Celeyn could appreciate the way Aryna called some out without seeming to or call them out and threaten them indirectly. Lovely, nicely done. Celeyn mentally congraulated her on her skills but when the spotlight moved to her, Celeyn was unprepared.
She was leaning lazily against the tree and in truth looked as if she were asleep though she was not. The whole firestone being thrown at her caught her off guard however. Celeyn merely stepped to the side, leaning her head away from where the firestone was aimed until it landed. It was like silence washed over Foglith, she dared not say anything in case it only angered Celeyn and then she would refuse to touch the stone at all. Looking down at the chunk of firestone, she let her gaze slowly follow the ground to Aryna's feet and the achingly upward to touch on her face. No words were spoken but none were needed. Celeyn raised her eyebrow, in amusement, in questionaing fashion, in a "you-should-have-known-better-than-think-I-would-actually-catch- the-thing." look. That's a lot for a single eyebrow. She finally looked back to Foglith as if asking if she should really play this sharding game and go pick the firestone up.
Mine!!! Foglith all but hissed her name, her jaws actually making a coughing sound in the silence from Celeyn. Mine, please do not do this! It's embarrassing.. just pick it up.. please? Perhaps embarrassing was the wrong choice of words because as soon as Foglith said it she regretted it. Now Celeyn would never go pick it up and she was drowning in a fit of humiliation over here, why was Hers being sooo difficult. But to Foglith and maybe a few other's surprise, Celeyn didn't throw up a fit. She stared down at Foglith with an unreadable look before shrugging and straightening away from the tree. Might as well get this over. Celeyn walked over and bent to quickly snag to chunk of firestone off the ground. Throwing firestones, what next?
Raising an eyebrow at the Weyrlingmaster, she turned to deftly toss the Firestone to Roysha who was standing next to Savitri, calling out a "Catch!" while it was in midair... Ooops, hope she caught it. If not maybe it would hit Savitri, too bad it was too far away from her to hit her, it was only wishful thinking on Celeyn's part. Mine! That is NOT NICE. Foglith was all but eaten up by her own humiliation at Celeyn's behavior, she wanted to apologize to the class at large but figured that would only make the situation worse.
You use it during Threadfall. Or flaming practice. Celeyn added. Well her response was a duhh but at least she said something, she really should get a ribbon for dealing with these moronic Weyrlings. That included the Weyrlingmaster. Instead she smiled brightly at the class before looking at her hands. Suddenly her nails were fascinating.
