It wasn't that early, all things considered. He could have picked a time before Rukbat rose in the sky to schedule the drills for; when light was sparce and the air still moist (most of the time; it had been abnormally dry of late) but he'd chosen the time just after breakfast for most convenience for the riders of the Maelstrom wing. It wasn't convenient for him. Ka'rys slept very strange hours as a rule, often curling up for two hours at a time before going for six. Since his illness, the feline-napping tendencies had only gotten worse and, unfortunately, wing training had most efficiently coincided with one of his "scheduled naps." Which meant Ka'rys was going without sleep, though it would not be the first, nor likely the last time he'd done exactly that. Life went on, even if he didn't get to rest as much as he'd have liked. Wing training was more important, and that thought was repeated like a mantra in his head from the moment Ciceroth had landed.
The bronzepair were a small ways away from the Weyr, in a clearing he'd located while looking around the surrounding areas. It was big enough for a normal sized wing to land, which meant that discussions would be possible without an unnatural amount of discomfort. No, he didn't intend for most of the drills to go by through talking, but there was always a virtue in asking the opinions of the riders of the wing, and what they felt they could improve on, what they wanted to practice more. Ka'rys was a firm believer that the riders knew their own weaknesses better than he did, though he intended to analyze just to make sure. The organization of the wings was different, and it would take some time to adjust to the change. Hopefully everyone was up to it, though.
Ciceroth, if you wouldn't mind...?
What if I would?
Don't be cheeky.
Being cheeky was one of Ciceroth's strong points, though, and despite Ka'rys's warning, the bronze's eyes whirled mischievously. Wing drills or not, letting everyone get wound too tightly would result in overthinking and stress. Threadfighting was important, and more over, it was an extreme necessity that everyone learn the drills. That didn't mean they had to be uptight about it, though. A more relaxed environment, in Ciceroth's not-so-humble opinion, made for a better working system, and while Ka'rys might have been tense, paranoid, and on the verge of falling asleep as they waited, Ciceroth was wide awake and excited. Unlike his rider, he slept normal hours of the day.
Maelstrom Wing, please report to the clearing south of the water fall.
