Meriath's hide was shining brightly, and she had been more flirtatious than usual for the last few days. It was quite obvious, as sharp eyes went over the Weyr, and the skies over the Weyr, that the green was scrutinizing her terrain so see if today she could give her chasers the flight of their draconic lives.
It seemed that the question was answered quickly, as in moments the blazing green had launched off of her weyrledge, away from Bazeth, although she did not head for the herdbeast corrals. She did not need those, she had never needed those. Why on Pern would Meriath need blood, which would probably be useless to her? So, with a great bugle, the slim, emerald figure had made herself an ornament in the skies, climbing quickly to the heights, where she still could not keep herself still.
As she waited for chasers, there was a pacing of sorts in the sky, where the Meriath flew one way, turned on her wingtip, then flew the other way. She wasn't quite burning energy, as this little 'exercise' actually gave her more energy, anticipation, until finally she didn't care if there were any chasers.
She would fly anyways.
Darting off to the right, Meriath angled herself slightly towards the ground, doing a single flip in mid-air before she continued her slight dive. The exhilaration that even this gave her...the feeling of speed and power...Oh, yes, this would be a good flight.

Cyanth leaped after the Rising Green. He was a lusty Bronze and never passed up th chance to Chase a tail. He bugled to the Green that glittered so. Meriath was a sight to be as she paced throigh the sky. She seemed full of the need to Fly, but was not allowed for she had no Chasers. His eyes whirled a deep violet as he trumpeted again. Green Meriath, none have come for you. I come for you, Blossoming Flower. Fly far and I will follow. The Bronze beast flew towards his 'prey' as he began to gain speed. Cyanth was in his prime and would not abuse that time of his life. He would Chase the females of this Weyr, but if he happened to win a Queen, he would forever be devoted to her.

Bazeth's head lifted up, his large eyes whirling in curiosity. Meriath's dazzling body shimmered in the sun, and he watched, enraptured by her beauty as she observed her surroundings. He could barely get over how absolutely stunning she was, especially so near to Flight. His secret weapon was prepared, the one he had worked so hard on. He kept running through it in his mind, making sure not a word or note was out of place. He was anxious; he knew that he very well not win the Flight, but he loved Meriath too much to let himself lose. He got angry just at the thought of anyone else twining themselves with his dear green!
Could it be? Meriath had pushed herself away from him, and he had not a doubt that the time had come. He trumpeted, and launched himself after her. Adrenaline coursed through veins, pumping along with the ichor as his wings pushed through the air. His glorious green, he needed her!
He didn't stop even as a bronze joined the Chase. His eyes whirled faster, but he didn't dare stop and bugle a challenge to him. He couldn't waste his energy, especially when he needed to save it up for later- when he would accord tribute to his beautiful draconic vixen. However, he did allow a soft, admiring croon as she flipped. Ever-so-graceful, she was! Pride surged through his blue body like a jolt of lightening, pride for being her weyrmate. Even further determination to catch her made him pump his wings just a little faster. He would pace himself, yes, but he would not lag behind. Not behind this bronze!

Two chasers?!?! That was it?!?! Meriath bugled, infuriated, looking behind her at her Bazeth and...wait. Was that a bronze? That sharding creature dared join her flight?! Oh...he dare? Well...this could not be.
Conclusions were quickly come about this. She had seen him in the skies multiple times before. Two other greens, she believed...and shells, it would be doubtful if he wasn't in the queen's, as well. Lustful dragon, was he? Little flight-hopper, who decided that he might chase greens for practice for the queens? Well, now, his metallic color would in no way boost him up. In fact, if it wasn't for her lack of chasers, he would probably be falling out of the sky, currently. However, if he proved to be inadequate in any way, he would definitely be punished. Sharding bronze.
Bazeth, however...he was a strong blue, agile, and so sweet! Meriath knew him, Hers was pregnant with His' clutch, and he was her weyrmate. And yet that didn't quite account for anything, not in a flight. All that mattered was that he flew strong and well, and made her realize that he was better than that...creature. Which, of course, wouldn't be hard.
Right after, however, she switched directions abruptly, dipping swiftly under both blue and bronze to sweep in the opposite direction, a brown entered her flight. He had flirted with her earlier - quite a handsome creature, and he wasn't a sharding bronze, and a change from her blue. He bugled, his voice strong and sure, as he swept after her - getting a head start on the other participants, already.
Well, now, he was some competition!
Meriath twisted in the air, catching a lucky thermal and letting it sweep her across the skies, although her spin had ceased. Oh, yes. This would be a flight to remember...and a flight to weed out the weak. Like that sharding, flight-hopper, stooping bronze!
((Sorry, Ciara...but Meriath's not a fan of bronzes. XD He'll have to really impress her!!))

((Well, that's okay. What she doesn't know is Cyanth keeps losing to Blues in the Flights and Aslath's Flight is his first time Chasing a Queen. Cyanth is trying to find someone for him and his rider. XD))
The great Bronze followed Meriath as she seemed to dance through the wind. She was a graceful creature and quite wonderful to look at. Cyanth glanced at his competition and only saw a smaller dragon. It was a a Blue brother that chose to Chase Green Meriath.
Suddenly, while he was watching Bazeth, Meriath had decided to change directions. After switching directions and righting himself, Cyanth realized he saw another Bronze. The beast's name escaped him as they both flew after Meriath.
Instead of growling at him, Cyanth pushed himself a little harder. He wanted a companion for just a while, a Green that wuld finally choose him. When Cyanth had started entering Flights again, he found that he kept losing to Blues. It infuriated the Bronze to a certain degree at losing to his smaller brothers.

Bazeth's eyes whirled with more intensity at his competition, but fired no hostilities toward them. No, Meriath didn't like bronzes, that he knew. Nevertheless, he would still need to prove himself to Meriath. The brown would be difficult to out-best, but he would do it. He would do it for his Meriath! Gaining speed, he plugged along after his beautiful, clever green.
His gaze upon her softened at her beautiful acrobatics. She was so beautiful, how she twisted in Flight! Locating the thermal she had caught, Bazeth pumped his wings after her, not letting himself rest despite the thermal. No- he couldn't show weakness in front of his mate as she Flew! He needed to prove himself worthy of such dazzling company, and to the other higher colors that Meriath was for him and him alone, and any others would dim in comparison!
He watched her for any signs of slowing, unsure of when to bring in his song. She would love it, he told himself. She would love it and choose him. With this hope in mind, he silently twisted along after her, bending at any given turn after his glowing mate. She was the only green he would give Chase to, unlike these males that competed. She would remember that, right? These thoughts were becoming more anxious, and his wings beat in time with the rhythm of the song he had written for her, his main hope for her to fall back toward him.

Meriath wanted to be impressed. By simply following her, like the meek beasts they were, the green would Fly forever! Well…that brown was doing a mighty fine job, for a meek beast. He was doing anything spectacular, but his was behind he, dipped a little down in case she dropped, so he could snatch her.
Crooning her approval of the dragon, Meriath flicked her tail, beckoning him teasingly. Yes – only he deserved her, right now! Wait…did he miss that thermal? Well, maybe he didn’t quite deserve her! The brown fell behind, sweeping up behind Cyanth and Bazeth and beating his wings harder than ever.
It turned out that only her Bazeth caught the thermal – he was in front. Well, the blue was intelligent…but couldn’t any of them do anything. Flicking her tail in annoyance towards all three of her Chasers, Meriath beat her wings once more before performing an acrobatic move, twisting under herself to fly in the adjacent direction. She would keep those wings beating, to be sure!
Meriath gave no sign of slowing, although it was obvious by her frequent glances back that she was acknowledging her Chasers more and more, and was beginning to flirt, as well. Yes, this would be one of the faster flights…although certainly one to be remembered!

Cyanth rumbled as he watched the Brown fall back. The rival had missed Meriath's thermal and was probably not in her favor anymore. With this little development, the Bronze felt stronger. He beat his wings in great sweeps as he followed close to Bazeth. The dragon's eyes whirled with indigo lust as he levelled with his Blue brother.
No longer was he worried about competing, only enticing beautiful Meriath into his grasp. A gentle croon left Cyanth's throat as he followed the Flying Green with hope. She may have been mated to Bazeth, but she Ros to mate with him or another.
As the Flight continued, Cyanth became mesmerized by the sight of Meriath. She was as graceful as the whispering wind among the leaves. Cyanth trilled lovingly as he Chased her. He would not give up until every Green rejected him. Cyanth would find himself someone to love.

Bazeth trumpeted weakly. He was getting very tired, but nothing in the world would make him lose his beautiful Meriath. He could tell the Flight was nearing its end, from her many looks at him. No, these two chasers would be lost in his dust! He could not let this swingers take his beautiful green! She needed more than just these Flight-happy dragons! It was now or never... He needed to show her his song. It was childish sounding, with weak rhyme, but a melancholy air in its melody. It was meant for her ears only. Though he would love to show it off, this was his song for Meriath- not for anyone else. Crooning to her, he let rhythmic, melodic words slip through his mind to find their way into the mind of his one and only green. *Remind me why I flew your way,*[/color] he sang, letting love for her ooze from each syllable. *Beyond the sea, and the rain, and the tangy sea... Oh, sing to me the love that we know! Dancing through my heart and my soul, come Fly with me!* He was disappointed how his voice sounded right now, struggling to keep in time through his measures from exhaustion. It was so much easier when he practiced without this kind of tiredness! Still, it was for his beautiful Meriath... *The love I have can be giv'n to thee, through song, and Flight, and through me, and by cold moonlight. I sing to you beyond the trees, and through the rain, and the sea, in my Chase for thee!*The sound ended in one final note, with the air as his orchestra that whipped around him. He watched Meriath carefully, anxious for her reaction to the one way he knew how to express his love for the green he was attached to. ((And.... media.putfile.com/Bazeths-Song here it is! Just keep in mind, the overuse of vibrato because at the time of recording, I had only just discovered it. xD And my vowels are off, but don't assume I'm a bad singer. I can sing, just not this song. xD))

It was quite obvious that Bazeth and the brown were being favored over Cyanth. However, as he leveled out with the blue, and the brown fell behind, Meriath crooned approvingly, if loftily. Her speed was slowing gradually, and she did a few lazy loops in the air, much as a f’lizard would…but she was a much better prize than those small little things! They weren’t anything compared to her!
The brown knew that he was swiftly losing his chance with the beauty known as Meriath. Even the bronze was gaining favor over himself, which was almost unthinkable! He knew that he would have to step up now, before any other creature had the chance! So, as the dazzling green slowed, he sped up, angling himself upwards discreetly, so that he was above her when she did the last loop. And when she leveled out again, the brown dove, fouling her wings clumsily with his own and beginning to twine his tail with her.
Now, if anything would anger Meriath in Flight, it was this. Who was trying to Catch her? She was not ready to be Caught, not yet. Soon, but not yet. And this…this thing was trying to twine with her! He was not worthy! Not worthy!!!
The green lashed out, although not in the normal way. Instead of clawing at the brown, Meriath tightened her tail upon his in a painful fashion, making him release her while attempting to separate their wings. It was accomplished in a matter of moments, in such a way that was a blur to the brown, and most likely the blue and bronze. In fact, even Meriath was not aware how she had accomplished it, only that she was so quickly above the brown, and her talons were dragging through his chocolate hide. And then he was dropping down, until he was able to catch himself, at which point the defeated creature swerved off and returned to his weyr.
Trumpeting triumphantly, Meriath rose slowly, surveying her two choices. And, that’s when Bazeth started to sing.
It was beautiful! Wonderful! Meriath cooed, absolutely pleased with her mate’s work. Cyanth was nice enough, but he was bronze. However, if he had come up with something so lovely, so unique, he very might have won this Flight.
As it was, however, the green was already dropping, her mindvoice meeting with his own in the last note, making a gentle harmony. As the note faded out, her gentle coo turned into a croon. Cyanth and the brown were forgotten – only her wonderful, handsome, perfect Bazeth was still there. She twined her tail gently with his, drawing nearer towards him. -- Mal cooed, the bulge in her stomach not stopping her from easing nearer to E’ri. The brown rider her fingernails had just ripped through was forgotten, P’nor was forgotten…her mate was the only one here, the only one important. Meriath’s tail coiled around Bazeth’s, and Mal’s arm coiled around E’ri’s neck. Her shirt had already been ripped off, by that sharding brown rider, but at least that was one last thing that she needed to worry about.
Leaning in, Mal brought their lips together passionately, one arm still twined about her weyrmate’s neck, while the other was tearing off his shirt. She had been Flown, well and high. It was about time for her to be Caught!
{That was wonderful, Mussie, btw. XD}

Bazeth couldn't help but let out a tired snarl as the brown tried to force himself on his mate! Know Meriath, this would probably turn her off from everything but blues for the rest of her life. This nervousness about her situation caused Bazeth to come forward, ready to catch Meriath if she had liked his song and would buck off the brown. He watched her, with relief, as she got rid of the idiot brown. What was wrong with the males? It made him ashamed to be male as he saw his brown's antics. At least Meriath was too strong to be swayed by these attempted shows of power! He crooned back to her as she responded to the song he wrote for her, coming up to meet her, twining his blue tail with hers.
So she knew harmony! Perhaps this was their relatinship- perfectly harmonious, neither too sharp or too flat. No, he thought as he pulled Meriath to him lovingly. This was perfect harmony.
--
E'ri smiled distantly, taking Mal into his arms the minute Bazeth had confirmation of his success. At least the brownrider had not delved too deeply into her. He would strike the man later for daring to lay a hand on his weyrmate in such a way. No matter- one less thing for him to take off of her. He brought his lips to hers even as she ripped the shirt from his body. He could replace the shirt later- what he needed now was to be close to Mal.
His strong, calloused hands moved downward, fiddling with her pants with impatience that was so unnatural for him. This wasn't the quiet, tender man any more- this was Bazeth in human form, needing to satisfy these needs. Hungrily, his lips slid to her neck as he let himself be consumed by emotion.
