Nautsk had been doing her glowy thing again. As much as he didn’t mind Runs, now that he was actually someone’s Weyrmate the process was wearying. Waking up next to someone who was not Eikane because of Run-lust was fine and all because it was part of life, but someone got pouty when he returned. The Greenhandler couldn’t blame the guy, Farnath knows he was a little jealous when Eikask Ran and she Runs a whole lot less than Nautsk does. With this upcoming Run it would stand at one Gold to every four Green. This, of course, was in terms relative solely to Eikask and Nautsk. Although it would be an interesting project to see if the combined Green Runs between each Gold one remained constant. It was possible, given the amount of Whers that resided in the Apartments… though unlikely. Geesh, he could be such a nerd sometimes.
But tonight he was a little moody. Lack of sleep coupled with the fact Eikane had to leave the Weyr with Eikask (because she got jealous of the Greens) made him moody. One of the creche kids had gotten sick pretty badly earlier on and had no one to sit by their bed in the Infirmary, so he volunteered to cheer the girl up. But doing that cost him the precious few hours of sleep he allotted himself. Giving up, Nautic rolled out of the furs and slipped his feet into the leather boots that stood at attention next to his side of the bed. Yes, he had claimed that particular side because he preferred sleeping on the left. The Greenhandler wasn't territorial over it, Eikane could sleep there if he wanted to... it was just that he liked it that way. Tapping the toes of his shoes on the ground after standing up, Nautic rubbed the sleep from his eyes before walking over to the door. He paused as something rumbled.
The massive fullball was Riker, Eikane's Feline. Padding over to the drowsy male, Nautic gently scratched it's neck with an apology about waking him up. He left the apartment far behind as he climbed the path that took him up to the Drumheights. As soon as Twilight came the last two nights, Nautsk had climbed up there to take naps. He was convinced that she was subconsciously broadcasting to all of the Whermales that she was going to Run and not entirely because it was a great view. Cresting the ridge the handler saw the Green's shine before he saw the female herself. Yup. Sleeping. As he thought she would be. Normally so late into the night she would be awake and socializing with the other Whers, but this was how she normally got the night before or the night of her Run. And since she had done this last night, he realized why he had been so restless despite the lack of sleep. Wondering over to her head, Nautic sat down and gently stroked her muzzle.
A violet eye popped open to see who was touching her. Oh it was her other half! She didn't remember calling him, maybe he had just known. Her's was so good with things like that, he was very smart. Nautsk waited to get up until her Human finished petting her, stepping away from him so she could shake herself free of the sleep. Oh the moons were cloudy tonight! That was okay, she shone prettily enough to make up for them. Stretching she eyed her human half. She could feel he was ready, he wanted his Chasers just about as much as she did. Oh weren't they such a wonderful pair! The Green barked excitedly and the other stood up with a fluid motion and yawned. Turning her maw to the overcast sky, Nautsk howled in welcome. They were ready so come and get them! It would take a few moments for the males to arrive, so they went to lounge by the River until then. A small ways away from the loud waterfall. Nautsk herself settled on the sand, her tail trailing in the river, Nautic meanwhile had perched himself up on a rock and was content to lean back and look at the sky. They were nice. They would wait. But not too long.
