"The view is almost better than on your back, Khir," Qaena spoke into the air, knowing her dragon couldn't hear her voice but qould pick up on the echoing mental thought.
Well now, ain't that a lie, the green responded with a cheerful thought as she corkscrewed through the sky. "I did say 'almost', you know! Flying with you is more fun, but your wings get in the way of the view sometimes." Khiraeth snorted good naturedly as she swooped by the rather large outcrop on the mountain. It was a more than large enough area for dragons to land but Khiraeth much preferred the open sky to the land any day. It hadn't taken her long to launch herself into the wide blue again after her rider dismounted.
"Not like you aren't spoiling the view now, flitting about," Qaena added dryly. The smile on her face betrayed her just as easily as her un-annoyed thoughts did. The young woman shook her head ruefully before digging into her packed lunch. She had been cooped up far too long in the weyr - a day out was just what she needed to let go of all the tension that had built up.
Being around people was just plain exhausting most of the time. She spent most of her time worried she would give off the wrong image of herself or Khiraeth. No amount of Khiraeth's reassurances were quite enough to cure her of her nervousness though the bleed-over confidence from her helped to a degree. Qaena bit into her herdbeast sandwich as she closed her eyes to really feel the wind on her face.
There really wasn't much that could make her day better.

K’iaannnn Romeoth wailed from out on his ledge, towards his rider, who was currently going through some papers. K’ian was of the mind that if he ignored the bronze, Rom would eventually get bored and leave him alone. Unfortunately, they’ve been together long enough that the dragon knew when the man was simply ignoring him, and he was onto his rider, snaking half his body into the weyr proper to hook his teeth gently around the man’s ankle and nomming toothily on him. K’iannnnmy-one-and-only? If he had eyelashes, he’d be blinking them up at the bronzer coquettishly. As it was, he was just looking, very real amusment making it hard for K’ian to ignore the dragon for long.
“What is it Rom? I’m busy.” Ranthian was out, probably playing with Kai or some of the other weyrbrats, and he didn’t have to endure the boy’s snark for the moment. There was probably something more fun he could have been doing…instead, paperwork. Still, he was busy, even if Romeoth was unimpressed with K’ian’s definition of the word. I want to see Khiraeth. “Then who’s stopping you? Go?” Rom rumbled for a moment, seemingly considering this, before abruptly tightening his grip and pulling back, effectively pulling K’ian right out of his chair.
The man landed in a pile of flailing limbs and sputtered incoherently at his dragon from the papers that were now all around him. Her’s would want to see you, and never let it be said I don’t come bearing gifts. K’ian was indignant and pissed, but there was little he could do to argue with Romeoth when the dragon was dead set on something…so K’ian acquiesced…as Romeoth knew he would. Eventually.
Soon, the big bronze was looping overhead, bugling down at Khir as the green flew slightly below him. Halloooo, Khiraeth. You look stunning in the sun! K’ian rolled his eyes and smacked the bronze’s neck. “Put me down, Faranth you lay it on thick.” You’re just jealous. He huffed, but obeyed and dropped the tall man onto the ledge next to Qaena. He greeted the woman with a happy croon before launching into the sky to fly with his favorite green.
Heaving an overdramatic Sigh, K’ian fell onto the ground next to Qaena, knees bent and smiled at her. “He sure knows how to make an entrance. Hey, Qaena.” He nudged the girl companionably for a moment. “What’s going on?”

Qaena blinked startled eyes open as she heard a decidedly louder bugle than her own little Khiraeth could manage. The delight of her dragon reached her before the recognition of the other dragon in the air. Ah, Romeoth. Certainly not a threat and the bearer of company she didn't mind interrupting her peace and quiet away from the weyr. She put the corner of the sandwich she was munching on in her mouth to dig around in her pack for something K'ian would like. Most of what she had brought was rabbit food but she was sure she had...aha! There were the meat rolls she had hastily shoved in.
Rommy! Such a delight to see you, Khiraeth returned sunnily, unphased by the rather blatant flirting. For all the green loved love she never considered it, even briefly, for herself. She was not one for a settled life. She shadowed his flight to the ledge Hers was sitting on though she was careful to give him more than enough room to land and take off again. Qaena for her part waved cheerfully at Romeoth when he crooned at her.
Predictably, Qaena's cheeks got a healthy, though small, blush when K'ian sat next to her and nudged her. She smiled slightly, dipping her head shyly and letting her hair curtain her from him briefly. "Hey," she returned, lifting her chin again and tucking her wild locks behind her ear. "I can't say there's much going on, really. Khiraeth wanted to stretch her wings - you know her, never one to stay put - and I felt like getting out of the weyr for a while." Qaena shrugged a little, biting her lower lip self-consciously.
"Want some food?"She offered, gesturing with the meat roll she was holding.
What brings you out here Rommy? Are we conspiring again? Khiraeth asked playfully, winding her way around the much larger dragon as she flicked her tail in the general direction of their riders.

Romeoth knew Khiraeth would never want him back. Though he had attended almost every one of the green’s flights, she had only chosen him a small handful of times. That was probably more than most males could say they’d been chosen by the cheerful green. He let her move around him, flaring his wings to keep in place for a second while she looped around him. Then he turned, rolling over in mid-air to watch her finish up her loop. Would you like to conspire, my dear? I don’t think our riders got enough of it last time. He glanced sideways at said riders, clearly amused. They’re still living in separate weyrs!
K’ian blinked at his dragon, wondering what in the hell he and Khir were talking about, since the bronze had hidden his comments from the man. He knew that his dragon only did that when he was talking about him. He was trying to figure it out when Qaena offered him the meat roll. At first he thought about declining politely and telling her to go ahead, but he hadn’t eaten all day and he knew he wouldn’t hear the end of it from Romeoth if he refused the girl. “Thanks.” He grinned at her, taking the proffered meat roll and chewing on it for a second.
He had caught her earlier words though, and gave her a wry grin. “Well, we can leave if you want.”, though he was showing no desire to actually get up and follow through on the offer. As much as he’d wanted to spend the day in his weyr, he had to admit that this was much preferred to sitting around doing paperwork. It was nice to ‘stretch his wings’ in a way and just shoot the breeze with a friend.
The bronzer then looked back to their dragons and scrunched his nose up, snorting a little as Rom looked their way. “What do you think they’re discussing? Rom’s being suspiciously silent. That never bodes well for us when the two of them are together.” Then he flashed her a truly winning smile and a wink to go with.

They seem to be doing okay for nooooow, Khiraeth answered, craning her neck to look at the riders as she danced through the air. But then again, I'm always conspiring. Ooh, if they shared a weyr we'd be forever cuddles-y! The green performed an ecstatic loop at the prospect. Though, really, she already spent a great deal of time cuddling with the bronze. Their riders sharing a weyr - admittedly still pretty far off, even if Khiraeth did some extensive meddling - probably wouldn't alter that fact too much.
Qaena smiled when K'ian took the food, though she noticed the hesitation. "I've got lots more food, though most of it doesn't have meat so I don't know how much it will interest you," the young woman said, giving the slightest of shrugs. He didn't have to eat it if he didn't want to. She had brought the food primarily for herself anyway.
K'ian's offer to leave was met with a quick and vehement, "No!" Qaena quickly blushed and clapped a hand over her mouth. "Er, um, I mean you can go if you want to. But don't do so on my behalf. I never mind your company." Which, oops, was a little bit revealing if the man took notice. The woman blinked when her attention was brought back to the dragons. For all they were right in the middle of the lovely view she kind of tuned them out. It was the only real way to survive Khiraeth's incessant chatter sometimes. Besides, whenever those two were together the topic was usually.... Yep. Her and K'ian.
Qaena scowled at the pair of dragons before sighing. She was about to answer when K'ian shot her a wink and frankly dangerous smile. She gaped for a slight moment before pulling herself together and muttering, barely audible, "Khiraeth thinks herself a matchmaker. And she likes to conspire with her friends."

It was really too bad K’ian was – well, K’ian. The guy, while well meaning and pretty friendly, wasn’t the most observant of people. Especially when it came to matters of the heart and the idea that someone, anyone, could have a crush on him. He never meant offense by his inattentiveness, he really just had no idea.
The ferocity of the woman’s refusal to let him leave tugged a smile up at the corners of his lips. “Okay then. I’ll stay.” He was amused, because he really had no intentions of leaving – unless, of course, Qaena really wanted him do – otherwise, she was stuck with him, whether she liked it or not. He was pleased though, that she didn’t want him to leave. It really was nicer here than in his weyr.
Her look after he’d smiled at her was too blatant for even K’ian to miss. And he looked at her, blinking for a second. The expression had left the girl’s face so quickly that he thought he might have imagined it. Still, he knew she always felt a bit awkward around him. He accounted it to the fact that he was a bronzerider and former council member when they met, and didn’t think anymore of it. He figured that she’d be awkward around any other bronzerider, but he wished she wouldn’t. She was his friend and he wanted her to feel good around him, not like she had to watch what she was doing.
He smiled over at the dragons, letting out a snort as he munched on the rest of the meat roll. “She just wants what’s best for you.” He said at last after he’d given the matter some thought. “More than I can say for Romeoth. I’m pretty sure he does things just so he can laugh at me.” The dragon laughed at him in the air and the man rolled his eyes, looking back at Qaena. “So. What had you planned to do out here by yourself? Just watch the sky?”
I believe ours have figured us out, dear Khiraeth. The bronze rumbled at his companion, coming out of his loop with flared wings as he grazed fingertips over the green’s hide. Would you like to race? Now’s a good chance to stretch out your wings properly. [/blockquote]
