Where are you going? Kaiusk’s question almost made Kai jump as he slipped out of the apartment. Sena was sleeping, and Kaiusk was curled around Sensk as her brother slept. It was a good thing he didn’t jump though, and he got out of the room home free. He didn’t want to wake Sena up. She’d had a long trip, and it was probably best for her to sleep, but Kai just couldn’t. He had other things on his mind, and only Kaiusk knew what they were. I need to go talk to someone. He told her as he took a step into the hallway. Probably a stupid question, but are you coming? The gold purred and brushed against his mind in a quiet dismissal. No. I’d rather just stay with Sensk, thanks.
“Thought so.” He grumbled, even though it was a little nice not to have a massive golden tail for once. Free of Kaiusk for the moment, the whermaster was able to slip through the hallways and weyrbowl unseen. She always drew so much attention, and she was glowing a little, so that’d probably cause even more. It was very subtle though, probably only noticeable if you were paying super close attention…but Kaius knew her well enough to be able to tell.
The man’s step faltered as he entered the rider part of the weyr. He hadn’t actually been here for ages, but he really needed something, and there was only one person he could talk to. Once upon a time, he would have never thought he’d consider this person such a good friend, but they’d been through so much together, and Kai literally couldn’t think of anyone else he’d rather spill his guts out to.
A flash of bronze out of the corner of his eye told him that King was keeping pace with him. The salamandyr springboarded off of the wall, grabbed Kai’s shirt (and some of his flesh in the process), and scaled up his body to his shoulder. Sneaky sneaking. Why sneak? “I’m not sneaking, you little shit. Why couldn’t you stay in the apartment?” King pretended to think about this for a moment. Sleepies boring. Much rather see where you’re sneaking to. “Well shut up then, people are sleeping.”
He conveniently forgot the fact that not only was he the loudest one of the pair, but it wasn’t actually that late, and Sena had just fallen asleep like a brick once her head hit the pillow. Still. He had to have a reason to be pissed at King, always. It was the way their relationship went.
As King blissfully fell silent, Kai made his way through the halls. He hadn’t been here very often, but it was easy enough for him to find his way to the door he wanted and knock on it after only a second of hesitation. “Cas? You awake?” He hadn’t talked to his best friend in months, and it sucked. Dragonriders and wherhandlers definitely walked different circles, and that was probably part of the reason Kai was as much of a mess as he was. He just wanted to talk.

Most of C'loy's the day been spent oiling Ka'alandrith, not that the lazy bronze needed oiling, he had reached his full lentth months ago to say the least, but was bronze being the way that he was, insisted on his rider taking care of his "molting" hide. Unfortunately, Kal being the size that he was and not having a fire lizard to help with the task, it had taken C'loy hours. Kallandrith hadn't even given him a break for lunch or dinner! When the Bronze was finally satisfied, he released C'loy from his duties, because all he wanted to do was go perch on a rock and sun. No need for his rider for the next few hours, he would most likely take a nap as the sun dried the oil.
Therilled that he had been finally released of his duties, if only for the time being, C'loy debated for a second on which need of his was more important to be satisfied. He debated internally, finaly settling on sleep- food could wait. Besides, oiling his bronze had left him far more exhausted than he had expected.
C'loy had learned from his years in his rider room that the only way to avoid a rumbling belly as he walked past the kitchens on the way was to breath through his mouth, do that he did. It really was a shame that smell traveled through an open mouth almost as easily as through the nose, so by the time he reached his weyr C'loy almost broke down and went back to the kitchens to grab a bite of food. No, he told himself sternly, sleep was more important. Bracing himself for fighting a hungry stomach, C'loy collapsed in his bed, exhausted arms flopping lifelessly onto the matress.
Knocking on his door roused him, from the deep sleep he had drifted off in for almost 4 hours.o Are you kidding me? The bronze rider thought as he woke. C'loy was debating internally if he should pretend he wasn't there because he really needed to rest, who cares if he hadn't had a morsal since breakfast. But then he heard a familiar voice.
It was Kai, his handler friend, who he hadn't seen in ages. Sighing to himself, he decided that he best not be rude. Besides, he might get Kai pretend to him, who knew, maybe C'loy would get his nap after all!
