Name: Cr'oph (previously Crystoph)
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Like and arrow, is he straight
Rank: Bronzerider
Birthday: August 2992
Family
Mother: Crystil of Lynarth (deceased)
Father: Mi'oph (Miystoph) of Ceklath (deceased)
Twin Brother: M'kai of Blue Futh
Sister: Diamonique
Adopted Sister: Meagan of Tarath (deceased)
Daughter: Crystera
Niece: Sorika
Physical Appearance:
Like his twin Cr’oph is tall. Very tall. His height and his long red hair are normally the first things people notice. His hair is naturally straight though gains a wavy apperance in humidity. He takes great pride in his hair, though lately he has begun to cut it to a more manageable length. It is still long enough that the bronzer has to pull it back into a runner tail when needed but in his leisure time it is kept loose and flowing. In fact he always has a type of hair tie present around his wrist for occasions when it must be pulled back.
Very handsome in his own right Cr’oph has a lean fighters build. He is muscular without being bulky, with long limbs which are proportionate to his body. Cr’oph likes to spare and run in his free time to keep his in top physical condition. He shows much more grace than his brother M’kai. The bronzer’s movements are graceful and flowing while his twin brother’s lean more towards clumsy. More like a dancer then anything else in movement, he seems to flow from one motion to the next with little to no wasted movement on his part.
Cr’oph’s face is basically a carbon copy of his twin brother’s. He has the same large distinctive nose, grey blue eyes and full lips. The red rider’s face however is most often scrunched in a scowl or blank with disinterest. His eyes, (which are normally thinly lined with kohl), and stance are much more reliable gauges as to his mood and thoughts. The bronzer, like most dragonriders, has collected a few scars during his turns. The most notable of which is a long thick ropelike scar that runs from his lower abdomen up to his lower ribs. A gift from a run in with a bluerider named F’lix during a mandyr run that went horribly awry. Unlike his brother M’kai’s normally bright wardrobe Cr’oph’s is dark. Blacks and dark browns dominate. With the occasional red thrown in for shock factor.
Personality:
Unlike his sociable and charismatic brother Cr’oph is a bit arrogant and maintains a detached aloofness to those he first meets. It takes a special person to get past this protective exterior. The more serious of the twins, Cr’oph values friendship and loyalty and has a strong sense of duty. Distrustful of new people the bronzer normally finds it all too easy to remain cool and objective in every situation. While his brother is open and friendly Cr’oph tends to stay reserved and cold until the person proves themselves trustworthy. However he is friendly and even downright cheerful around friends and family alike once you do earn his trust.
The bronzer is not certainly not above using whatever force is at his disposal if his family and friends are ever in danger. Cr’oph is the self proclaimed protector of his sister, his twin, his daughter, and all others that fall under his protection. The man is not very tolerant of anyone who upsets any of the people he considers family. He thankfully has tamed enough with the turns that he no longer reacts at the spur of the moment anymore. Cr’oph still probably would not hesitate to risk himself to protect those he most loves however. Most of his tendency to act without thinking has gone by the wayside, although he could certainly still be goaded into rash action in situations that involve those most closest to him. In fact the man actually has something of a love for battle. Though he is not normally one to bait or goad someone into a fight, he will finish one with a smile on his face. Thankfully the bronzer’s natural and learned fighting skills have proved to be enough to get him out of most dangerous situations. If they aren’t Mavenath is certainly intelligent enough to quickly turn the tables in their favor when they work as a team. Cr’oph and Mavenath are hardly ever apart anymore and they have found through the turns that they work best as a team instead of arguing against each other constantly. There is more give in take in their relationship now then they had in turns previous.
Despite his rather rough exterior Cr’oph has a strange weakness for tiny things and especially his daughter. He is not above making a fool of himself only for her. (Never in public mind you.) The bronzer has something of a gentle side that is only brought out by the weak and helpless. Almost as if the man for some reason considers himself their champion. Cr’oph makes no secret of his desire to help protect the weak and struggling. If someone is being terrorized this man is one what will immediately jump to their defense. No matter who they are. He often doesn’t even stay around long enough for a thank you afterwards however. The bronzer just doesn’t do so well with most fluffy emotion. Nor does he seek it.
Perhaps this is the reason that he sort of failed with his first weyrmate Jazheera. Although Cr’oph got along quite well with her, and no doubt had strong feelings for the woman, he seemed incapable of maintaining a long emotional relationship. The bronzer has grown a bit with the turns and no longer so much prefers his one night stands or flings. This isn’t to say that Cr’oph has completely gone celibate but he no longer actively tomcats around as he used to. Currently the man is comfortable with his single status as he has more on his mind then just women. Namely immersing himself into the political games of the weyr.
History:
2992-3010 Birth, Childhood, Benden Candidacy
Crystoph and Mikail were born to Benden riders greenrider Crystil of Lynarth and bluerider Mi'oph of Ceklath. They had also birthed a daughter two years before the twins. (A beautiful red head they named Diamonique after Crystil's sister.) Although they were raised in Benden weyr the twins where brought up with the old beliefs. Their parents were actually quite outspoken against the current Benden polices. In fact they were part of an under the table faction that yearned to see Benden returned to it’s former glory, instead of it’s current state as a brutal violent weyr which gave no quarter. The two rider’s were very close with another weyr pair who had a little daughter close to the twin’s age. The little girls name was Meagan.
When their parents met to speak about things the foursome of children had play dates. During which the they all became fast and close friends. Crystoph and Mikail had a good home life and, as was normal of most weyrbred children in a weyr at of war, were trained in basic defense at a young age. Crystoph, being a natural, was soon put into combat training with some of the older weyrbrats. While his brother Mikail preferred diplomacy, and so he was trained in interrogation and bargaining. Megan the younger child they grew up with was rather sheltered by her parents and the brothers. The two boys became her protectors keeping the other weyrbrats from harassing her. As far as they were concerned Meagan was their little sister. The twins soon became the protectors of the group and their sweet tempered sister tagged along.
As the twins grew more proficient in their training they caught the eye of a few wingleaders who desired to help the twins with their training. Although their parents at first were leery, they decided that they should let the twins participate. After all the twins were primarily raised in the old way. Their wasn’t much chance that they would be swayed at the age of twelve. Training progressed and the twins excelled. They kept to themselves and eventually they were chosen to stand for impression. However, they were restricted to only standing for Baith’s clutches. The two were the most prominent candidates of the class and they were pegged to be great additions to any wing they would eventually join. Their teamwork was unshakable and so bonded were the twins to each other that the could tell what the other was thinking with almost perfect accuracy. Making them an unbelievable team. The pair stood for clutches from the time they were 14 but Crystoph and Mikail never impressed. Although this was rather worrisome for their parents, the twins were unshaken. They had just not found the right dragons obviously. Their teachers held a different belief. Perhaps the hatchlings were turned off by the twins intense bond.
3011-3012 Rape, Siege, and Escape
Time passed with the twins failing to impress clutch after clutch. During this time their adopted sister Megan was made eligible for impression. She had grown into a beautiful young woman and many men made no secret that they had interest her. Mikail and Crystoph kept her close in an attempt to protect her from the worst of the weyr. But despite their best attempts to keep her safe the unthinkable happened. Meagan was cornered and viciously raped by a bronze rider named D’mian. It was Mikail who found her and he who carried her broken body to the infirmary. Crystoph was furious. His desire to murder the bronzerider for his misdeed was strong and it was only his twins’s calm reaction that saved perhaps both the bronzerider and Crystoph that day. They would get revenge. But it would be well thought out.
As Meagan healed and grew stronger the twins began to plot their revenge. Before they could act Benden began to plan for an attack. It was made known that their parent’s were to participate in home defense for the Siege of Selenitas. Crystoph was privately a bit confused. Why were their parents chosen? It made no sense. Nevertheless the night of the siege quickly arrived and as the repulsed wings returned and battle raged as well in the skies above the northern weyr the teenager watched unable to look away. Crystil’s dragon Lynarth was the one who spoke to the twins that night. Giving them the urgent command to flee the weyr even as her bonded died. There was no more time for plans. With the help of Mikail, Crystoph gathered his sister Diamonique from the kitchens, and Meagan from the candidate barracks. The twins stole some runners and fled, even as Baith returned and the slaughter continued. It was all too easy to escape during the chaos. With their parents dead and the weyrs leadership uncertain there was nothing left for the twins at Benden. They had no desire to stay. Escape seemed the best option.
Hiding in a seaside fishing hold for a few days the twins chartered a trip on a boat headed for Blossom Hold. As payment the twins worked as crew members, while the girls worked in the galley. Arriving at Blossom the foursome quickly immersed themselves in the hold. Mikail and Crystoph quietly debating traveling to Selenitas weyr, keeping the decision from the girls who were quickly growing comfortable in
Blossom. Their older sister Diamonique, in fact, had already found a place at the Lake Dolphin Hall. The girl already being considered for a dolphin handler. The twins made a decision to leave the girls at the hall. They were safe there. It was highly unlikely that Benden would ever look for the two woman there and life would be better for them in the south. Writing a quick note to the girls as a apology, Crystoph and Mikail joined a tithe caravan headed to Selenitas to help rebuild after the siege. After arriving at the weyr the twosome decided to find the candidate master. Their past was kept secret. It was decided that they would play as search candidates from Blossom for the time being.
3013 Arrival at Selenitas, Attempted egg theft, Missed chance
Arriving in Selenitas under the guise of searched candidates the twosome immersed themselves in the rebuild of the weyr, slowly getting to know the ways of the southerners. Things were very different and it took awhile for the twins to grow used to their new home. Only a few months into their new candidacy something happened that caused the twins concern. Fort attacked the main hall. There were very few casualties but it heightened the boys anxiety. Why had Fort come to the southern weyr? This question seemed to never really been answered. After the attack by Fort things calmed down a bit for Selenitas.
That is until Hepaticath rose. She was caught by bronze Ciceroth and soon dragon eggs again graced the hot sands, a queen egg rumored to lie among them. The twins were excited for the hatching, for it was the first impression the two would attend outside of Benden. A few weeks later, while the eggs were hardening, a small group of dragons infiltrated the hatching ground with the intention of stealing the queen egg. Crystoph wasn’t there but a few of the candidates helped the dragon riders and their beasts to drive the attackers off. The eggs where safe. None were stolen, but due to the stress it put on Hepaticath there was no touching. The hatching day was soon looming ahead however and even Hepaticath couldn’t stop her babies from impressing.
Before Crystoph could attend Hepaticath’s hatching though something happened that was, in hindsight, probably just a fair dose of bad luck. The candidate tripped over a domestic feline the day before the hatching and fell down a flight of stairs. He suffered a major concussion and broke his ankle. Because of his head injury, he was confined to the infirmary for a few days and he ended up missing the hatching completely. Although Crystoph missed out, his brother Mikail impressed. Mikail became M’kai of Futh. Crystoph was actually extremely upset by this fact. Not upset because his brother had impressed but because he was supposed to have been there as well. Impress alongside his twin.
It was hard to Crystoph to come to grips with what he considered a failure on his part. He refused to visit his twin brother and M’kai never came looking for him being busy with his new dragon. Before the teenager completely recovered from his fall he fell ill with the plague that had been sweeping the weyr. He recovered in a few months, although he had been on death’s door. Although Cr’oph’s physical prowess was back, his mental state had taken a huge beating.
3014 Impression, Fort attack, Weyrling training
Now recovered from his setback Crystoph did his best to deal with the depression he found himself in. Pinning all his hope onto Millieth’s upcoming hatching. As the day arrived Crystoph stood on the sands with the rest. It was there that the man found his other half, a turn after his twin impressed on the same sands. A bronze hatchling approached Crystoph and he became Cr’oph of Mavenath. The last thing the young man ever expected was to impress bronze but impress he did. Weyrling training started for the pair then. Cr’oph falling into his role as bronzer pretty easily with Mavenath at his side.
When the pair were merely months into their partnership Fort attacked Selenitas. The bronze pair found themselves trapped in the hatching grounds as the weyr struggled to repulse the invaders. The hatching grounds were eventually set on fire and Cr’oph and Mavenath rose to offer help and advice despite the pairs young bond. Eventually the fort wings were repulsed by Selenitas and things again settled into some semblance of normalcy. A turn later the bronzer pair graduated and were put on a wing.
3015-3016 Wasteland invasion, Hidden Weyr, Jingth’s death, Jazheera
It wasn’t long after the pair graduated that Benden sent some prisoners to Selenitas. Cr’oph didn’t really pay much attention to the matter. He was mostly stuck grieving over the fact that his sister Meagan. (who had followed the twins from Blossom against their wishes), had impressed and then been lost between. It was only months later that wings darkened the sky and a renegade weyr who called themselves Wasteland attacked Selenitas and successfully overthrew the weyr. Cr’oph was awoken by a comrade that morning who urged him and his bronze to flee, lest they be slaughtered by the invaders. Grateful ,the bronzer and his dragon fled with a handful of other exiles into seclusion. The exiles came across a abandoned weyr that they named Burimyu and settled themselves into a life of secrecy and shadow. Their hopes of retaking their real home someday were dim, but alive. They survived off of the land and also what they could pirate from tithe trains to Selenitas. It was not the easiest existence but they managed. During this time of exile Cr’oph grew interested in Jazherra, a bluerider who was part of the exiled grouping, and the pair started what was to develop into a rather long relationship for the man.
A half a year into their forced seclusion the exiles lost one of their leaders Ka’rys of Ciceroth when they were discovered at the Hyphen gather. Just six months after that, at what marked a year into their exile, they lost their only goldrider Meira to some unknown predator. Fortunately before her death queen Jingth produced a clutch. Unfortunately the clutch’s sire was a brown. With no gold to boost their numbers the fate of the weyr seemed….very uncertain. Cr’oph and Mavenath fought off the prevailing sense of doom that seemed to shroud the small population of Burimyu. There had to be a light somewhere…right?
3017- 3018 Earthquake, Merge, Niece[/u]
Unfortunately that light didn’t come until months later. Even then it was disguised in the form of bitter tragedy. An earthquake rocked Selenitas and demolished the entire weyr. With hope seemingly lost for the survivors Burimyu hastened to their add, offering shelter and a hatching grounds for the egg heavy Millieth to lay her next clutch. Selenitas seemed to accept the merge with relief and it didn’t take too long for the weyrs to fall back into a certain harmony once the initial tension had been overcome. Most of them were family after all.
Cr’oph and Mavenath were pleased for the most part. The bronzer kept up his relationship with Jazheera, seeming to be afraid to push it beyond what almost casual terms they had, and his family grew with a new addition. His niece Sorika entered the world in February of 3018. His twin brother M’kai had the child with one of his weyrlings and though Cr’oph didn’t approve of such a thing he couldn’t deny that the little girl was quite adorable.
By the time his niece was born in 3018, the final talks were underway for an alliance against Fort with Benden. When the alliance was complete Cr’oph and Mavenath took regular trips north to merge with the Benden wings there and learn what they could. The bronze pair proved themselves a force to be reckoned with on the battle field and more then a few Fort rider pairs met their end in Mavenath’s claws. By the time the final confrontation loomed before them the pair were ready to lend their strength where they could.
3019- 3022 War, Daughter, New Direction[/u]
Having proved themselves capable, Mavenath and Cr’oph were given their own small wing when the final confrontation geared up. Although Cr’oph was nervous he performed to the best of his ability and when the dust cleared he had only lost one of his riders. Regrettable and he would never forget them but it could have been far worse. Though Mavenath gained a few wounds during the battle as well none were terrible enough to need a long infirmary stay. The bronze pair were able to hold their head’s high in the end as they watched Fort crumble. The remainder of 3019 was spent hunting down Fort’s last break off rebel forces.
The stress the bronzer was under that turn was immense and as a result the man began to drift a bit away from his girlfriend Jazheera. Though he hadn’t planned it he slipped and bedded a young benden greenrider he used to know as a candidate back when he had lived at Benden. Unfortunately Jazheera caught him and it ended their relationship. Though Cr’oph tried to apologize Jazz would have none of it and to make matters worse a few months later she found out she was pregnant with his child. At least she told him of the pregnancy, even if she refused all help from him in any way shape or form. There was nothing the bronzer could do but watch her from afar and wait due to her overprotective brother, M’ta of Behruth, in part. When his daughter was born in 3020, nearly taking her mothers life, the bronzer quickly stepped in to help in anyway he could. Though he didn’t gain much forgiveness from Jazheera at least the man got some acknowledgement for his help. Really what else could he have done but help? Cr’oph loved his daughter, that much was very apparent and true.
When Inverness was built the bronzer was upset to learn that Jazz and his daughter were being sent north while he was staying south. Though he offered for his ex and girlfriend to come live with him so they could stay something of a family the bluerider turned him down and went north anyway. Really Jazz’s choice wasn’t all that surprising considering that the woman seemed to want near nothing to do with him. She even tried to make herself scarce when he came to visit his daughter. Though this hurt the bronzer more then he would openly admit he didn’t voice it. Mostly because he was uncomfortable with being too vulnerable.
And so things started to fall into patterns. With the war over and the summit’s decisions final, the bronze pair looked to thread as their enemy and helped keep peace within their weyr. Mavenath even managed to catch Sr. Queen Millieth (His own dam) in her mating flight in 3022. The bronze was more then proud of his children and the mutations that they were, in his not so humble opinion, blessed with. There was no doubt in Cr’oph’s mind that his bronze would chase Milleth next turn as well in the hopes of a repeat performance. He treated her well after all.
Current
Currently the Cr’oph and Mavenath bide their time at Selenitas waiting and preparing for the upcoming Weyrleader trials. Though the bronze pair fully support the current Weyrleader S’rei they have decided that it‘s about time that they make a bid to involve themselves more in what is going on. Cr’oph for one actually supports most of the summits decisions. Though he is of the mind that the ban on crafters should have been a ban on holders as candidates. Weyrbred children make far better candidates in his opinion. Holdbred ones just came saddled with too many moral reservations.
Dragon
Name: Mavenath (Mah-ven-ath)
Color Code: DA5D00
Hatched: 3014
Age: 8 turns
[Mah sounds like Bah (like a sheep)]
Personality:
Cool and calculating, Mavenath is an observer. He watches and measures, picking up anything and everything that will help him in the long run. He knows that he is destined to be a leader, but if he has any say in it, he wants to be an efficient leader. Mavenath tends to treat everyone equally, holding no favorites other than his human, and interacting with anyone who seeks to speak with him. Unlike many of his brethren, this bronze tends not to react violently if baited to do so. To him, nothing but hate is gained when violence takes control. In fact if he can avoid physical conflicts he will, but that doesn't mean he will run from a fight that is inevitable. Especially when the conflict concerns his bonded, if he is in trouble there is little the bronze won't do to keep him safe.
If his Rider gets angry, he will put himself between his Bonded and the offender if he can, accomplishing multiple agendas in one simple move. It keeps his Rider out of trouble, prevents any bad blood between dragons and reinforces the fact that he is the one in charge. In short, Mavenath is the ying to his rider's yang. Together they could accomplish many feats, but only when they accept that they actually do compliment each other. Most notably when in comes to rationality. Mavenath thinks before he acts, even if it is only for a few moments before putting the plan or task into action. He doesn't believe in impromptu or thoughtless action if the outcome has more trouble than its worth. There are of course exceptions to this, and each situation is taken into account. Be assured, Mavenath only follows his own agenda, not that of his Rider. His soft spot, is with his clutchmates, most notably so those who have mutations. He likes mutation dragons, because of their unique attributes. He'll 'collect' or try to, a following of these dragons, because once he knows what they can or cant do... he'll use them to further himself along. Though he is generally more friendly around them.
Appearance:
Large in size (he will grow to be 36 feet), Mavenath is long and packed with sinewy muscle that is clearly defined all over his body. When he moves anyone can see that he will be one to be trifled with when a battle ensues, and most dragons will either gravitate to him or steer clear of Mavenath depending on their first impression of him. Stunningly metallic, this male sports an orangeish bronze coloration that seems to almost shimmer in bright sunlight, there will be no confusion about what color he actually is. Darker Bronze spots spread downward from underneath of his chin and run the length of his body to the tip of his tail. The spots cover his belly and the inside of his legs, never spreading out from the confines of the underside of his body.
Like most of his clutchsiblings, Mavenath has a shorter neck and a longer tail allowing for better balance and an increased biting force. Once something gets in his jaws, there is no getting out. Large wings give him the endurance that Bronzes are known for, but he has the unique physical ability to fold his wings quickly and in mid-flight so that he can turn in tighter circles than other dragons of his size. His white talons are curved and deadly, and Mavenath has a special fondness about keeping them clean and polished. His bonded will be spending a good amount of time making sure that the bronze's claws are spic and span.
Pets
Species: Razorclaw
Age: 7 turns
Gender: Male
Name: Raven
Physical Appearance:
This razorclaw is completely average. Almost painfully so. He sits squarely in the middle of the size range for males. His beak and claws are no more or less sharp than they have to be for his species. While all this means he's got nothing special to look at, it also means he's, in a way, perfect. There are certainly no oddities about his form. He's perfectly capable of surviving proudly as a razorclaw. He certainly carries himself with pride. He does just about everything to seem impressive, including holding his wings open while perching and flying with lots of pointless loops and obvious showing off.
His colouring seems to pander to his more flashy nature, though within reason for a small predator. His eyes are highlighted by dark brown rings joined by a thick band. The rest of his head and underside his a simple white. His back and wings...that's where it gets more interesting. The white from his head blends seamlessly into silver-gray on his back and wings, interrupted abruptly with dark brown edging on his wings. If allowed to look closely enough, one would notice faint lighter stripes on the dark brown edging of his wings. Also, the upperside of his tail is almost entirely brown, though a lighter shade than elsewhere on his body. From below he is nothing more than a white blur with black claws and a dark brown mask...from above he is a flashy creature.
Personality:
This male absolutely loves attention - good or bad - preferably from his own species or His. Once he grows more accustomed to humans (he'll be quite skittish around them in the beginning) he'll welcome their attention so long as they don't touch him. If he is ignored for too long a time this male will not hesitate to make his displeasure known, usually by shrieking loudly. Just once. Once should be enough, shouldn't it? It is highly suggested that one obey his summons; he is not above shredding something with his claws.
While intelligent, this bird is also quite literal. Train him not to shred a shirt and he'll claw up a pair of boots. It will take considerable patience to teach this bird every little thing he should or shouldn't do. The results can be highly rewarding. When he learns something once, he well never need to be told again, assuming it's not an active command. It might be wise to give him something he's allowed to tear up though...when he runs out of nearby things he'll start bringing things in, including animals he's killed if he must.
Despite having bonded as an adult, this razorclaw can be quite affectionate with his chosen if he is in a good mood. He's more than at home on his chosen's shoulder (don't they look so impressive together?) and occasionally will rub his head against his bonded when in private. He is sensitive only to his owner's emotions, or perhaps he simply just doesn't care about the emotions of others? Whatever the case, his chosen comes before others and he's not afraid to make that clear. Painfully.

Painfully.
