Humans:
Name: L'nu
Age: 19
Born: May 2997
Gender: male
Sexual Orientation: hetero
Rank: Bluerider/apprentice potter
Physical Appearance:
L'nu is a sturdy young man, though he is still growing taller - if slower than he had started out doing. Finally having grown into his lanky all elbows and knees with big hands and feet problem, L'nu stands at a sturdy somewhat muscular 6' 1". Dragonriding has done for his physique what potting never would have, giving him the classic well-fit strength that goes with living with such a large beast. Thankfully, in having adjusted to his bigger frame and slower growth, L'nu has stopped being quite so clumsy and as a result garners far fewer bruises on his person.
He has a broad face shadowed over by his massive mop of plain brown hair that seems to always hang on the verge of hiding his eyes. Not out of a styling attempt, but more of a there's so much of it and he doesn't trim it often enough to keep it at bay. He really doesn't like long hair though, so he doesn't let it get long enough to tie back. Not to mention that much hair, that long, would prove a huge neckache. Shadowed under there are eyes that are just as brown as the hair - very plain and unworthy of mention.
L'nu tends to wear dirt colored clothing more out of habit than anything else. He had started that habit to conceal all the muddy stains that potting put on his clothes, but now it's just routine. For he doesn't do much if any potting anymore. His shirts tend to be short sleeved, and his pants baggy for more comfortable sitting.
Personality: L'nu is somewhat reserved most of the time, but not out of an unwillingness to interact. He doesn't go forth and meet people more because he doesn't want to get caught. He never knows when he will get caught and when he won't, and that uncertainty scares the living daylights out of him as he is pretty sure that one fine day he's gonna lose a hand or two over it ... and who ever heard of a one or no-handed potter?? Or dragonrider for that matter.
His biggest problem is that L'nu is a kleptomaniac, and an unwitting one at that. He never knows that he just stole something ... or what he just did with it if a person were to ask him. Maybe it's because he doesn't pay much attention to what his hands are doing, having perfected the art of hands working while the mind wanders afield... but in any event he'll randomly discover that he's got an odd stash of spoons under his bed. And who knows how long they've been there. He always returns stuff as promptly as he can get away with it and not get caught, but he never knows how much stuff he's pilfered and placed in other places. He certainly doesn't steal for personal gain ... his hands just always stay busy. Pick this up, set it down there. Regardless what it is! It doesn't have to be pretty, or interesting, or anything else, for that matter. Just ... movable.
If he could ever get past this fear of getting caught at his biggest problem, Llannu could be a fairly nice kid to interact with. But as he can't get past that problem, he's always edgy and wary and suspicious of why someone is talking to him ... do they know? Are they walking him into a verbal trap, trying to get him to confess? Are they going to lop off his hands? He never knows. As a result, he doesn't trust anyone human.
Or flitter, for that matter, the little spies! Always watching him. He thinks this is because their owners got wise and set them on him, but this is not always the case. Sometimes what he filches is food, and when he sets it down ... flitters are more than happy to have at it, where it's far easier to filch their bellies full than from angry cooks!
He is paranoid about people laying hands on him for more than just that reason, though. Especially other males. For having been attacked once and seriously thinking he was going to die for it, he doesn't trust people to have the best of intentions when it comes to his person. Which ... may or may not be a very good thing considering he is considerably stouter than he used to be and doesn't know his own strength when he aims to get away.
History:
Llannu was born in the spring of Turn of 2997 in Hyphen hold to a homekeeping mother of seven and a potter father. His father was fairly good at what he did, turning out some rather nice pieces of pottery. But then, with that many kids to feed at home, he rather had to be! Llannu was not the last child to be born though, as one more came after him into the already crowded household.
Following after the temperament of the rest of the hold, Llannu's family was not an overly excitable lot, not getting upset, angry, happy, joyful, or any of those things very easily. Naturally this led to a fairly sedate childhood, where the boy spent most of his time chasing after his older brothers and trying to do what they were doing. Namely ... learning their father's trade. It took a lot to feed so many after all, and the man put the kids to use just as soon as they were old enough to start learning.
Llannu was naturally good with his hands and learned quickly, even before he was supposed to. And he found he enjoyed playing with the soft clays that the males of the family turned into cups, bowls, jars, pots ... and a few decorative plant pots, too. As a result, when he came of age to actually be apprenticing to the craft he already knew quite a bit of it and was ahead of the game.
But this left him somewhat ... with a narrow view on life. To him, work was play. Play was work. It was all one and the same. Granted, he enjoyed his work. But it never occurred to him that there was more to life. So fixated on what he was doing, that it never dawned on him that there was a world outside the world of turning clay. This started to concern his mother greatly, despite the pride that showed in his father for his skill.
In the end, his mother pried him away from the trade for a few moments of time now and again, to get him out and about to do something else ... and maybe meet a nice young lass, while he was at it. But Llannu greeted the world with wide doe eyes and not a whole lot of enthusiasm. He was quite happy to get back to his turntable, thankyouverymuch.
And thus the turns passed, until his fifteenth turn arrived. Happily turning away, he hardly noticed the outside world even still until in the summer his mother and two older sisters all took ill at the same time ... leaving no one to take care of the household. As good as he was with his hands in the clay he was still the least trained of all the brothers, so it was him that his father sent back to the house to take care of everyone and make sure things moved like they should.
Needless to say he made a horrible cook the first week. But he learned quickly, making passable meals that could be held down by his brothers, much less his sick mother and sisters. Taking care of things in the house was not his idea of fun in the least ... he found it menial, boring, mind numbing, and - frankly - women's work. He found it utterly embarrassing. And hoped to Faranth that no one ever found out about it. He was a potter, after all! He should be turning clay! Firing! Baking! Painting! Not ... washing dishes. Emptying blarkbuckets ...
It was on one such blarkbucket emptying trip that he got found by a passing greenrider on Search. Given the state of the household, Llannu did not go. Not that he wanted to, either ... his passion lay back at his turntable! The event went unmentioned to his family even well after his mother and sisters were well again. It was a good two months later when the greenrider came back looking for him. This time, his father was on hand ... and was terribly impressed.
Naturally, his father insisted that he go ... even if he didn't become a powerful dragonrider, he could definitely broaden the family's market for fine pottery. Dejectedly, at his father's behest, Llannu went. He was not at all happy about the situation in the slightest. Everything suddenly, in the blink of an eye, changed all around him. And he was not prepared for it in the slightest. He didn't even have a good idea what the world was about, outside of his home! He was a complete idiot to the wiles and woes that had been ripping back and forth on Pern.
And now he was thrust right into the middle of it all, clueless, friendless, and with itchy hands...
Shortly after arriving at Selenitas he found himself drawn to an excited attraction that drew people into a tight knot. When he got there, he found a basket full of kittens and hatching flitter eggs. He was of a mind to make off with a kitten if he could talk the kitten's owner out of it, but instead found himself with a new baby Gold flitter. Which left him absolutely terrified. Not only was she a blister herself, but he was convinced someone was going to come after him because he had 'stolen' the shiniest baby flitter of the lot. Miraculously to his understanding, no one said a word to him about it. But his life was forever changed with the introduction of the bossy Queen. It was often wondered just which one was the one in charge!
In 3013 Llannu stood for Hepaticath's hatching, and suddenly found his little world turned up on ear all over again as he was joined by a little blue dragon, Paglieth. Who was just as twisted in the head as L'nu was. L'nu struggled with his kleptomania, while Paglieth struggled with his inherent tendency to lie about everything. He didn't even realize he was doing it, often accidentally covering the tracks of his rider. Somehow, the two of them made a solid pair. Eve if L'nu was never sure when Paglieth was telling the truth ... or not, about any given thing he said.
Shortly after becoming a Weyrling, L'nu became lost in the lower caverns of the Weyr, and as naive as he was he trusted the first person he came across to get him back out. Only, it didn't at all go like he thought it might. Instead he found himself pinned to the floor in danger of losing his life to what he perceived to be an insane Rider. Miraculously, someone else happened along and freed him, but ever since that day he has been utmostly twitchy about anyone laying hands on his person - especially other males.
When the coup Wasteland ran over Selenitas happened, L'nu kept his head down and waited for the storm to blow over. Ever since, he's never really sure what is going on, even more so not trusting anyone, and entirely convinced there are mass graves somewhere that miscreant people are thrown in. It leaves him terrified of anyone finding out anything about him that might be construed as being mass-grave worthy!

Flitter
Masquerade Gold
Name: Rose/ Sassy
Color: Gold #D3B300
Gender: Female
Age: Hatchling
Based off of: The Queen of Hearts
Looks to: Llannu
Physical Appearance: This queen is, simply put, large. She’ll never be a small creature, and it’s pointless to expect it: from the moment her wings unfurled from her egg, it was obvious that she’d dwarf even her dam, as she’s on the larger side for her color! She’s not slender, either, though fat isn’t quite the word – she’s powerfully built, with no small amount of muscle toning to her body. Coupled with wings that are large enough to carry her in long glides and impressive soaring and she’s quite the intimidating firelizard to behold. Parts of her are more masculine than normal for a gold, though; she has distinctly sharp ridges along the line of her neck and her eyes are slanted, giving her a perpetual glare that, when angled with whirling red eyes, will no doubt terrify most other firelizards into submission. Her long and sinuous tail acts as a whip and mood indicator, often lashing when she’s upset, and it’s strong enough to create bruises on flesh when people aren’t careful. The most feminine part of her body is her legs, which come down into elegantly curved claws that are pure white and absolutely pretty to behold, particularly against the golden hues of her hide. An ugly firelizard she is not – even if she isn’t the perfect picture of feminine grace.
Her color is nothing like her mother’s, either. The backwash of her body is a perfect shade of gold so pure that it looks as though someone took the metal and melted it down into liquid form to sculpt her from. However, she’s not without unique markings to set her apart and hers comes in the form of rose gold hues around her eyes. This almost-eyeshadow forms into the shape of hearts, very clearly visible over each eye, and the color sparkles almost pink. Similar shades of rose wind down her back, over her ridges before twisting in ribbony bands down her tail, the tip of which is stained the color completely. As a direct contrast, her stomach is a much lighter, almost white gold shade, giving her the look of wearing a bib or perhaps a silvery blouse. Her elegant appearance is finished off by a splattering of rose gold on the back of each wing; when she flares her wings, from behind there is a very clear heart visible for all to see, just like the markings on her eyes. She is the queen of hearts, indeed.
Personality: Extreme – that’s the word that defines this queen’s personality best, for better or worse. She’s a mess of quick, out of place, inappropriate reactions to virtually everything that she encounters and her temper is a thing of legends. No, this little queen is not quiet, nor is she polite in any way: she’s a queen, she knows it, and she expects everyone around her to recognize it. Egotistical to a fault, she’s prone to bossing around every one and thing she sees. Firelizard, salamandyr, wher, dragon, human – it makes no difference to her what the species is, she’s a queen and must be listened to because she said so.And failure to obey her will trigger a temper tantrum that most creatures are unwilling to deal with. Rather than simply sulk as some creatures tend to, this firelizard screams her rage for all to hear. She’s very fond of flying around commanding other firelizards to scream at people as well – just because one screaming firelizard just isn’t enough to prove a point, obviously. Being a queen, most firelizards will also be forced to obey her when she gets really riled up – thus creating something of a domino effect: she screams and everything around her starts screaming, too. Needless to say, life is never dull (or quiet) when this queen is around.
She’s also extraordinarily easy to offend. Her ego is positively massive, which can be detrimental to those around her. She has no tolerance for anything that doesn’t worship her. Other golds (of any species) are not tolerated and she’s unlikely to appreciate Hers being around them – they’re rivals for her affection, after all, and that’s not good. She must be loved more than anything else. Otherwise it’s worthless. Anyone or thing that insults her will be the victim of her screaming fits. Fortunately, she’s not the smartest firelizard to ever hatch – not by a long shot – and her memory is terrible: after an hour or two, she’s forgotten entirely what offended her and will give other creatures a second chance. This poor memory though makes her quite difficult to train simply because if it’s not relating to her, she loses interest very fast. What? It’s not her fault she’s the most important thing on Pern, she just is and everything else is boring. Especially delivering messages and fetching.
Given her size, it’s no wonder that she favors bronzes. The fact that most of them are totally subservient to her helps. In her eyes, Hers is a bronze – so she likes her mindmate, so long as there’s no question as to who is in charge. If Hers disobeys her though for any reason, she’s not above biting and it will take placidly stroking her ego to make her calm down and listen. Fortunately, only she is allowed to mistreat Hers in any way – and she’s more than happy to have screaming fits at any creature who dares treat hers wrong. Never fear, little Queenie to the rescue! Off with their heads!
Name:Paglieth (Pag-lie-th)
Color: Blue
Hatching Turn: November 3013
Personality: Paglieth is irrefutably, and undoubtedly a compulsive liar. He doesn't mean to lie continuously, it just seems to happen before he can stop himself. He knows that lying is not a good thing to do, and he tries to keep himself in check. But his attempts fail... miserably. One moment he'll say that the sky is green, and then the next he'll apologize and say that the sky is actually blue. Sometimes, he'll just stick to his lie if it means not getting in trouble or if it will prevent it. Other wise he will always try to seek forgiveness and speak the truth. He does not aim to harm anyone by his lies, but it sometimes happens. Pagieth will feel really guilty if he does happen to hurt someone because of what he said to someone, or said to them. Because all in all, the Blue is actually very friendly and kind kind hearted.
Paglieth also dislikes fighting, he doesn't see why people and dragons need to fight. Gentle and loving to make up for his unusual condition, the Blue tries his best to make as many friends as possible. And each friend he gains, he makes sure to tell them about his habitual lying. So that they don't dislike him when they find out the hard way. He does not like being a compulsive liar, but he does his best to live with it. A gift he does have though, is the ability to read the emotions of humans without probing their minds and invading their mental space. A feather light brush will tell him everything he needs to know about their emotional state.
Appearance: Pagleith is almost the same color as the sky above, maybe a little darker. Long streaks of lighter blue run in random patches, like clouds, along his body and across his legs. The sails of his wings are the same light blue color as the cloud like streaks, while the cartilage and hide that frames them are a perfect match to his base color. Tall, Paglieth has long wings to balance his hight and carry him easily through the air. Like others in his clutch, he has a longer neck and a slightly shorter than normal tail. He will of course, be able to fly as well as any other dragon after a little work in the field of balance. Walking on the ground will be a problem, but not because of his shorter tail, he is just naturally clumsy.
Paglieth has a long snout and a more angled head in which long sharp teeth are housed, he could easily be considered frightening if he ever decided to snarl or growl at something. Adding to the slightly more edgy appearance, the Blue has four black talons, one on each of his four knee joins. These growths are extremely sharp and foreboding. He has matching claws on each of his feet, black and the dark color of Onyx. He can be dangerous if he needs to be.
