H U M A N S:
Name: Kilisto (KEE lee sto)
Age: 33 (May (2990)
Gender: Female.
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual.
Rank: Lady Holder of Blossom Hold.
A P P E A R A N C E:
Kilisto is a tall, slender woman, thin and lithe. She has an oval-shaped face, with a straight nose and slightly defined cheekbones; just enough to bring prominence to her eyes, which are almond-shaped and larger than normal, though not unattractively so. She has a curving figure, every bit feminine and at the same time, anything but fragile. She has a casual grace and strength that matches her position, a confidence that shines through in every movement and accentuates her delicate features. She would never be mistaken for someone easy to push around, though she is not imposing physically, either; she's too feminine in appearance for that. But subtle muscle toning - not enough to be readily visible - is hidden beneath that delicate form and alludes to a more active lifestyle than most ladies would possess... much of the time.
She has a bright smile that completely lights up her features, and she wears it often; if any feature she possesses embodies her personality best, it's that smile, with its total domination of her features and complete joy. And she would say it is her best feature.
Fair would be the best description of Kilisto's colouring. Her skin tone is on the light side, despite spending time outside with the Lake Dolphins that she so adores. She simply doesn't tan very well. Her hair is elbow-length and naturally forms into corkscrew curls, but the weight of the long strands makes them wavy instead. The strands are cut at different lengths, layered from her elbows to her shoulders, and she wears it pulled back much of the time, out of her face and out of the way. It is naturally a fair blond leaning more toward gold, with naturally brighter highlights. Like her hair, her eyes are bold, a deep green coloration with almost yellow flecks through it; not unlike a feline's eyes, really, though they do not stand out all that much. Instead, they compliment her features. Nothing stands out about her face as breathtaking, but the combination is smooth enough that she is memorable, at the very least.
P E R S O N A L I T Y:
Kilisto is an outgoing and friendly woman. Equals, superiors and inferiors are treated the same way by her, with a kind demeanor and polite manner of speech that she prides herself upon; while she is not overly formal, there can be no doubt that she was raised well. But her manners are not to the degree of being alienating. She tries very hard to appear disarming when dealing with people, often being extremely patient with others past the point that most people would. She has a compassionate, almost maternal nature that is forming in her personality, though she is still young enough that she loses her cool from time to time. She treats other people with consideration and constant dedication, and she considers her responsibilities very important; work before play, as it were.
And there is definitely a lot of play in Kilisto's life, despite her position as Lady Holder. She has a definite mischievous streak, often coming across as flirtatious, though no harm is meant by it, as she is maddeningly in love with her husband. She is prone to teasing just about everyone she meets, light-hearted and anything but mean. She also enjoys making other people laugh and smile. If the saying that happiness spreads is true, she is very much the type to spread joy to everyone around her; she seems perpetually in a good mood. But such a jovial appearance belies, to a small degree, the devious intelligence she possesses; while she is kind enough to protect everyone she meets, Kilisto is smart enough to think of clever ways to deal with people. Traditional "punishments" and "rewards" aren't her forte; she is more the type to do something that makes a point. Unconventional would be a good description of her, though not in a bad way. And she is very open-minded, finding new ideas and ways of doing things welcome, even encouraged. What is a person's point in life if not to make their mark and better the world?
Needless to say, as a result of her goals to help people, Kilisto is somewhat naive. She looks for the best in people and while she is smart enough to see their flaws, she has a lot of trouble holding grudges. Her memory is excellent, but resentment and anger are not feelings that stay with her. She is simply too nice; she is the kind of woman who would give someone she disliked her food, solely to make sure that they had something to eat. Vindictive isn't one of her traits, but this can lead to other people taking advantage of her kindness if she doesn't keep a weathered eye out for it, and has in the past lead to her getting her feelings hurt by so-called friends. She is difficult to discourage, despite that, though, and she's an optimistic woman who believes that even when the times are rough, good things will come to those who wait. It's all a matter of being patient. Patience is one of her best strengths, too, although by proxy she is also very slow in making decisions. She does not like to make mistakes as she is fond of the idea of making other people believe she is perfect (she is not, and it is pride and minor conceit that leads to this trait), so she will think things through entirely too much, at times maddeningly so, until someone else makes the decision for her. While she bears responsibility well, she has to think things through more than most people would. Every angle must be analyzed before a decision is reached. This is a woman who would look through every material and colour combination before picking a single one and then there's all the patterns for dresses, and how they look on her... Nothing done in haste!
Like her husband, Kilisto is a supporter of Selenitas Weyr, though she is not quite as excitable about it as he is. Because his father was assassinated by the Fort, she holds a certain resentment for the Weyrs of the north, which for Kilisto is extremely unusual; it takes something dire to make her even slightly dislike someone. She is not outspoken about it, however, and does not vocalize her feelings on things she deems unpleasant. She is often influenced (though not majorly) by her husband's beliefs, due to her devotion to him; odds are, if he absolutely hates someone, she will not be close friends with them, although she would always be polite. She's capable of making her own decisions, but she chooses to stand by her husband much of the time. In short, she is extremely loyal to the Tentieon.
H I S T O R Y:
Kilisto's mother and father were both Dolphineers at Lake Dolphin Hall, located at Blossom Hold. The couple met and wed young, happily in love, and while their relationship was anything but the bliss of fantasies, they were happy; they were both well-adjusted individuals who were capable of working out their problems together and talking things through, either by themselves or with help from close friends. Their happiness seemed to emanate around them and it was no surprise that not long into the marriage, Kilisto's mother became with child - the first of what would be two. She named her daughter Kilisto when she was born, and the girl was doted upon by both of her parents rather than be fostered out as some children were. So happily in love were the couple that they preferred the idea of raising their daughter themselves, even if it meant harder work for them.
Childhood was pleasant and relatively normal for Kilisto. She was doted upon by her parents from a young age, despite the fact that they were busy much of the time. While she was not spoiled, no part of her was neglected and she learned young the values of family and love. Two Turns after she was born, her mother gave birth to a second child, a small baby boy, and Kilisto grew close to him very quickly. Their parents raised both of the children, and the two spent their early years together. Kalison (her younger brother) became her closest confidant as a mere slip of a girl, her single best friend. The older she grew, the more mischievous she became, getting into everything that she could find and it took her quite awhile to learn the meaning of the word "no" - but over-all, she had an extremely normal beginning to life. She was scolded like any normal child would be for her misbehaviors, but in general, she and her brother both had very normal lives. And they were nearly inseparable.
Living at Lake Dolphin Hall gave Kilisto an unusual beginning to life and as a result, she was comfortable around the dolphins from a very early age. She became an apprentice at five Turns, much to her own surprise as her parents', given her mischievous behavior, and her training helped to temper her. She worked with many of the dolphins, learning from the older and more experienced dolphineers, including her parents. Kalison joined her as an apprentice early on, and the two helped one another to learn when others were not around. It was a relatively peaceful time despite the chaos in the north, and Kilisto was extremely well-adjusted. She learned quickly, and became fond of dolphins near immediately. Though her training took longer than most people, by the time she was ten she had formed a bond with the Lake Dolphin called Babs, who became her closest friend after Kalison. Between Babs and the responsibility of being an apprentice, most of her mischief subsided into a responsible front combined with a playful, sweet demeanor that endeared her to many; she was friendly to all, and outgoing enough to make many friends.
It was that outgoing side of her that drew the attention of one of the other apprentices at Lake Dolphin Hall: Tentieon, Heir Apparent to Blossom Hold. Despite his ranking status, he was considerably more laid back than many of the boys, and his relaxed approach to life combined with the fact that the two always seemed to end up working together in their training made for Kilisto and Tentieon to become close friends relatively quickly. She was eleven then, and him twelve, as he was one turn her senior. Their time was spent together quite a lot, and while both maintained their other responsibilities and friends, the Turns led to Kilisto becoming nearly as fond of Tentieon as she was of her brother - though, that was in part helped by the fact that he had moved on to his own group of friends. Because of how close they managed to become in a short period of time, Kilisto convinced Tentieon to become an apprentice at Lake Dolphin Hall, if only so that they could spend more time together.
The friendship that Tentieon and Kilisto possessed spiraled in adolescence to something more and at fifteen turns, they began seeing each other. It was innocent, occasional trips out to the lake, or afternoon picnics just the two of them; he was a perfect gentleman, charming and sweet, the same person she'd known her whole life. Her initial worry about agreeing to see Tentieon was that he would change and start treating her differently, but he didn't, aside from wanting to spend more time with her, away from just work and chores. The companionship was welcoming, and it didn't take long for her feelings of friendship for Tentieon to morph into a crush and then something more akin to genuinely liking him as more than just a friend. The way he looked at her made her feel like she was something special, the brightest star in the sky, though she would never have admitted to such romantic notions aloud. She thought herself above such things.
But it wasn't just the way he looked at her that made Kilisto's feelings for Tentieon change; it was his treatment of her as well. Chairs held out, formal introductions, and demanding everyone address her as an equal when there were those who would have treated her as inferior for being only an apprentice - all of that was enough to chase away any doubts to her feelings for him, and no other boy became of remote interest to the girl. Within a Turn she was besotted with him, and it was clear that Tentieon felt the same. One of the first gifts he gave her after they started seeing each other was a very large firelizard egg, which to her surprise happened to hatch in the middle of the night when she was alone. The firelizard that spilled out was a delicate, warm golden hue and she latched onto her, creeling for food. And she named the little firelizard the first thing that came to mind: Sasha. She was quite possibly the best gift that anyone could have given her, for in the sevendays that followed, while Sasha was young enough to require near constant attention, she was all that Kilisto could talk about, save for how wonderful Tentieon was. If it wasn't obvious before to everyone in the Hold and Hall, it was then: She was definitely in love.
The two continued to see each other regularly for the next two Turns, in between working with their respective dolphin partners. No one else remotely appealed to her, and she had total trust in Tentieon, perhaps naively; she was sure he loved her and would not do anything to hurt her. His happiness was hers as well and their lives at the hold seemed peaceful and lovely; there was very little she would have changed. Despite their involvement for Turns previous, the proposal came as a total shock to Kilisto, who did not think herself anything spectacular. But she accepted gratefully, and the two were to be joined.
Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worst. An assassin from Fort managed to sneak into Blossom Hold and assassinate the Lord Holder, to everyone's dismay. Tentieon, Heir Apparent, was forced to step up to replace his father. After a brief period of mourning, he stepped up as the new Lord Holder, and the two were joined -- making her the new Lady Holder, a position she'd never expected or thought about holding, despite the fact that she was completely enraptured with Tentieon. His bitterness for the Northern Weyrs frightened her slightly, though she could not bring herself to blame him; she was fond of his father as well, for he was a much-liked man who had treated her kindly when he didn't have to, and had raised a magnificent son. Unlike her husband, she did not absolutely hate the Northern Weyrs, but it was clear from her behavior that she thought little of them. The pair supported the nearby Weyr, Selenitas, and its different tactics and approaches to life.
Though becoming Lady Holder was different from anything that Kilisto had experienced in her life prior to that point, she took the role in stride, learning from the Headwoman and the staff of women what her responsibilities were. She put priorities on the happiness and well-fare of the hold as though she were born for the role and her natural charisma earned her a healthy, close relationship with the Headwoman of the Hold. Foreign though the position was to her, she took it with stride, chin-held high and grew into the position as much as she could. She was young and inexperienced, but eager to learn, a natural hard-worker and humanitarian, and she wanted to be involved in everything if she could. Blossom Hold was her home, the hold of her husband and the man she loved -- more than anything, she wanted to prove that small though they were, they were to be respected. And she was willing to work extremely hard to do exactly that. As a result, she became one of the more approachable ladies in the Hold, always eager to help anyone when she had a free moment - regardless of rank. She above all understood how little it meant in the scheme of things, if the daughter of two brilliant if common dolphineers could become Lady Holder, married to someone was amazing as Tentieon.
Less than a Turn into their marriage, Kilisto became pregnant with the couple's first child. Initially, she was frightened of the idea of bearing children, simply due to the risks that it posed to the child and the mother alike. Her worries were kept to herself, private and under lock-and-key inside for the first two months of her pregnancy, until she noticed her gold firelizard brooding over one of her clutches. The way that Sasha fussed reminded her of her own mother, half-paranoid over someone daring to touch her eggs, or in the case of humans, one's child. Her initial nervousness subsided rather quickly after watching her firelizard. If Sasha was strong enough to fly, clutch and guard her eggs all the time, then she would be, too. She could carry to term and have a child just as well as her firelizard. Ironically, she'd only found out she was pregnant because Babs noticed it -- and politely informed both her and Tentieon at the same time. The story of how they came to find out would be one told over dinner quite often.
She is currently six months into her pregnancy and hoping for a boy. Though she misses drinking wine (she would boast that once upon a time she could out-drink her husband - a fib, of course, but one she was fond of), she's extremely excited about bearing her first child and about her husband's firelizard egg hatching. Secretly, she hopes for it to be a bronze for Sasha to have a companion, though she hasn't yet voiced that idea to anyone.
- gave birth to Tenkilion
- through the turns has had two little girls with Tentieon as well, names/ages up to adopter
- kind of became neutral to Selenitas through all its troubles due to concern over Blossom's fate but supported her husband's choices to continue support
- fiercely supportive of Burimyu though
- supportive of Sel involvement in great war in the sense that she'd support just about anything to end the war
- was mostly silent during the summit, echoing her husband's beliefs on the matter
- more loyal to mixed Sel than her husband
F I R E L I Z A R D:
Name: Sasha.
Color: Gold.
Age: 15 Turns.
Physical Appearance: Sasha is a rather dainty Queen with a rich, warm yellow-gold hide that blends smoothly into slightly lighter patches around her edges, such as her wings. She is very well-proportioned, with her wings perfectly balanced to her body shape. While it is undeniable that for a Queen, she is on the small side, what she lacks in size, she makes up for in dynamics with her brilliant colouring. Her underside is a slightly lighter gold than the rest of her body.
Personality: While Kilisto is a friendly and disarming woman for the most part, Sasha is domineering and center-stage, very much the look at me! type. At times she can even be very demanding, and though she's a smart firelizard, it isn't always clear what message she is trying to get across. But she is a friendly firelizard with a natural maternal instinct; when Kilisto is busy it is not uncommon for her to sweep around and 'watch' others, almost out of worry. With this personality in mind, it's not at all that unusual for her to look after green firelizard clutches when she does not have one of her own. She generally likes most everyone, especially children, and outgoing as she is, she is prone to perching and "introducing herself" to perfect strangers, often in the form of sweet trills and chattering. She's a bit outspoken, really.
Up to adopter to fill this in more. Please drop the Lord Holder tag when you adopt him <3 Sasha's clutches are not written out and you do not need to do flights for her, all her eggs go to the Hold children.
