Kaaoloth followed the other brown without complaint scanning his assigned section of the jungle. I wonder if the little one is close to him yet. He remarked to his rider. Sel’n stretched his legs. Who knows. If he is still as wild as he was it may take us forever to find him. Kaaoloth rumbled in agreement and then gave a snort. Ruskeath, Kaaoloth. The little sister may have found Him. She says she thinks herself near Him. Thus, if we go between, I will give you the coordinates to between to, and ask that you follow us, keeping in the forward V wing format. The brown passed the information along to his rider and then touched Leweleth’s mind. Agreed.
About time Sel’n intoned to his dragon then added, almost as an afterthought, Who’s Ruskeath? His brown shook his head as he continued forward. I have no clue. Perhaps Corinth sent more help? Sel’n frowned, Does our Weyrleader really think it will take three browns to capture him? Kaaoloth gave a mental shrug and waited for further directions.

Pepsi wasn't quite sure what made him stir from his light cat-nap; it was simply a sense of the forest that made him aware that something was up. He scrambled to his feet in alarm, head tilting as he tensed; he realized what it was... The jungle was quiet.
He scanned the trees warily, keen eyes picking up the sight of a flock of avians shoot out of the trees, crying out an alarm. Close to his watering hole a few more critters scrambled by, obviously disturbed by some unknown threat. Something big was coming, and Pepsi had a feeling it wasn't as simple as a feline on the hunt...
He instantly made for his little cave, squeezing in to the tunnel to hide. It wasn't a very large passage, he couldn't stand up straight without hitting the ceiling; no feline could fit in. Or dragon, for that matter. He crouched low, eyes trained on the entrance of his cave as he scooted back a bit, in to the deeper shadows. Perhps he was overreacting, but... He somehow doubted that.

"No, it's fine," G'tor assured Saeo, smiling back. He checked to make sure she was safely settled before singling Ruskeath to take off. "Rusk and I were just going to the beach for a swim was all," he added, trying to allay her fears that she might have disturbed them. "We're happy to help." Ruskeath stirred up gusts of air as he took off into the sky.
As they prepared to leave for the jungle, Ruskeath received further instructions from Leweleth, which he relayed to his rider. <They do not sound like they need our help though,> the dragon added, a little sadly. He didn't want to get in the way or cause any sort of confrontation. G'tor nodded his understanding. <They probably don't,> he admitted. <But we'll have to take Saeo anyway> he pointed out. It was better to take her then let her wander around alone. And maybe she could help coaxed this wildling to return peacefully. G'tor had never met the boy, so he wasn't sure.
"We're jumping between now," G'tor warned Saeo. "When we arrive, the others would like us to watch the coast for Pepsi. Hang on tight!" With a mental signal, Ruskeath surged forward. For a few seconds they were lost in the endless cold and black of between. Then the were back in reality with the steamy jungle and crashing waves below. Ruskeath took his position on the right flank of the other two and began scanning below for little human. In truth it was probably Zesa would find him, especially given Leweleth's last message before they arrived, but it didn't hurt to look.

Saeo flinched violently when G'tor mentioned that they were going to jump Between, but before she could even manage to voice her concern, they were there. The absolute, all encompassing nothingness of Between shocked her, but then all at once they were through it, and the jungle was once again stretching out beneath them to all sides.
"Shards!"
She gasped, clutching tightly to Ruskeath's neck with fingers stained cherry red from the cold.
"Th-that...oh I beg you, a little more warning next time! I thought I'd died for a moment there!"
Her composure returned rather quickly as the heat provided by the brown's thick hide sunk into her flesh, and she managed to straighten her back into a slightly more dignified posture. The coast, watch the coast...
"...why the coast? There's nothing out there but salt water and tunnel snakes. Shouldn't be be searching the jungle? Maybe near the river? No, he'll be avoiding the river now...but the jungle at the very least?"
She suddenly noticed the pair of large, dark shapes drifting at their left side. More dragons?
"Who are we flying with?"
She called back to G'tor, unable to tell who the bronze and brownriders were beneath their riding leathers. She was suddenly wishing that she was so bundled up, for even in the heat of a late, dry summer the high altitude winds was chilling her quite to the bone.

Ruskeath has arrived, and Kaaoloth agrees to our - ah, strategy, Leweleth stated after a moment of flying, and T'kal leaned over the brown's shoulder, squinting down at the foliage below; there was no sign of movement save for the stirring of the wind among the leaves, and each motion drew the brownrider's gaze; he cursed softly under his breath. He could be anywhere, the young man commented, as Leweleth dropped ever lower, tucking his legs against his stomach to avoid being grazed by the uppermost leaves and branches. How's Zesa doing? The little sister is still looking, Leweleth answered after a moment's pause, jewel-faceted eyes calm and unconcerned. We will catch up to him. There is nowhere he can go that we can't catch up, especially with the little sister's assistance. The brown's confidence leaked over to T'kal, who pressed his cheek against Leweleth's hide, wriggling forward on the brown's neck till he could ge a view unhindered by Leweleth's shoulder.
Meanwhile, Zesa had sought out Pepsi's mind - easily, really. She'd done it once before, which made the task simpler still, and besides, his was the only human mind in quite a distance. Furthermore, it was a very distinctive mind to seek and - it took very little time before the queen fire lizard backwinged to hover uncertainly, forepaws tucked against her chest and head cocked, eyes bright and curious, at the mouth of Pepsi's cave. Was that - at the back? His mental pull came from here...the fire lizard tucked her wings and dropped, easily navigating through the cave; as her eyes adapted to the dark slowly, the brilliant glowing orbs standing out against the darkness, she recognized Pepsi and gave a soft, triumphant peep before vanishing between again.
She reappeared directly above the cave's mouth, shooting straight upwards until she cleared the top of the trees, glancing around to get the coordinates and then sending the coordinates to Leweleth with an emphatic triumph. She'd found the wildling, but she couldn't take him back without help. It was a good distance from the Weyr, and he was too heavy for her to pick up anyway. As she heard the brown's mental praise, Zesa hummed softly, diving out of the way to give the three dragons room to come out of between into. No need to get squashed by a brown so soon after she'd found Him.
The little sister has found him! Leweleth's triumphant bugle was cut off as he sent the coorindates to T'kal and then went between, simultaneously sending them to both Kaaoloth and Ruskeath. As the dark brown dragon burst out of between again, the cold draft of air that came with it was forced downwards by his great wings, and he hovered as low as possible, squinting through the trees. Zesa chirruped to get his attention, darting towards the cave's mouth. Leweleth snorted warily. The cave, T'kalmine. You have your belt knife? As you well know, T'kal answered reassuringly. There's a clearing a dragonlength that way - head over there? Leweleth rumbled assent, reaching for Ruskeath and Kaaoloth. The wildling is in the cave; and the foliage is too dense for us to land here. There's a clearing, a dragonlength to the west, and T'kalmine suggests we land there, and Ours can fetch out the wildling and bring him to the Weyr. I hope Yours carry daggers of some sort? The wildling is dangerous.
The brown dropped one wing, swinging himself around to glide the short distance to the clearing - it was actually an indention into the jungle, from the nearby beach, but it served the purpose well - and then backwinged to land, T'kal dropping off of the brown dragon instantly and then spinning to shade his eyes and witness the others' arrival, waving them down as he moved backwards out of the way and Leweleth shifted to allow for landing space.

Kaaoloth answered Leweleth’s trumpet with a trumpet of his own. They have found him mine. He is in a cave north of here. Leweleth sent me the coordinates. We are to land and then you and the other riders are going to have to capture him. The brown trailed off before adding. Did you bring your knife? Leweleth says he is dangerous. Sel’n grunted. I always have my knife on me Kaao you know that. Let’s get this over with. Kaaoloth rumbled in agreement and blinked between.
The large brown hovered over the clearing as Leweleth adjusted his position and then dropped neatly beside the other brown. Keeping his wings spread for balance he crouched to allow Sel’n to dismount before straightening and folding his wings for Ruskeath to make a landing. Sel’n strode over to T’kal and nodded in greeting. “So what is our plan. I doubt he will be unaware of our approach.” The older rider gazed up as the other brown made his landing and frowned disapprovingly. He brought a candidate with him? What in Faranth’s name.

Pepsi was far from unaware; he wasn't blind, he had seen Zesa's eyes in the dark of the cave, recognized the firelizard. They used the same underhanded tactics they had used before... Well, he could use beasts to his advantage too.
He scrambled from his cave, eyes wild as he spotted the browns coming in for a landing. Too many of them... Lungs expanded, throat constricting as he snarled out loudly, the sound exactly the same as a feline with a kill. Again he snarled, hoping the sound would throw off the dragons, make them rethink this mission.
After a few more snarls of different pitches, he dove back inside his sanctuary, shaking as he thought of angry dragons realizing his trickery and coming to get him. He curled up with a whimper, eyes squeezing shut. He didn't want to go back... Why could they not realize that and leave him alone?

"Sorry." G'tor looked truly hardbroken. In the excitement he had completely forgotten to warn Saeo about between before doing it. He wasn't going to have to get used to having passengers if this was to become a regular task. Glad of the change of subject, he went on to answer her questions. "Leweleth and Kaaoloth are ahead of us. They have the jungle pretty well covered, so we're watching the coast just in case. Zesa is searching too." For the life of him, G'tor couldn't quite remember the rider's names at the moment. He had never been that good at remember names and faces.
<Tor,> Ruskeath echoed in his rider's mind urgently. <Zesa has found the young one. We're to land in a clearing to the west.> G'tor nodded in agreement. <You did not bring a weapon, did you?> Ruskeath's question was almost a sigh. G'tor hesitated sheepishly. <Um, no. Why would I need one.> <They are saying he is dangerous,> Ruskeath went on, a note of concern touching his voice. <Be careful.> G'tor recalled how Saeo was armed and sighed. <I will, I promise.> If he really was dangerous, he could always stay out of the way. It probably wouldn't take all four of them to subdue him.
"They're fond him," G'tor said alloud to Saeo. "We're going to land a short distance away." G'tor gripped the flying leathers in preparation. "Hang on tight!" he warned. "Rusk likes to make steep landings" Ruskeath snorted and as if to contradict his rider's statement, he began a gentle sweep into the clearing. He landed carefully next to the other browns and seemed quite proud of himself for remembering his young passenger. G'tor rolled his eyes as he jumped down to help Saeo climb off. <Show off,> he muttered. Ruskeath just rumbled smugly.

Saeo utter a small sigh of relief as she felt the ground holdign steady beneath her feet again. Her ride on Ruskeath had been the longest she'd ever remained airborne, and the trip had sent a dose of adrenaline rushing through her veins suffciant to keep her trembling even after she dismounted. She recognized Leweleth now that they were on the ground. She also realized with some surprize that the small bronze she had identified earlier was in fact a brown -a three legged one at that- and his rider was offering her a look that almost made her wince. Well, she couldn't really begudge him his disapproval. She was just a candidate after all...
His mention of a plan clued her in to the reason why three brown dragons had touched down in the same area at the same time. There was already a search out -well thank goodness for that! It seemed that Pepsi was more important to the weyrfolk than their behavior implied.
"Ammm...do we know exactly where he is?"
She asked, glancing quickly between T'kal, Sel'n and G'tor before finally allowing her attention to rest of the rider who had carried her. He was the one she knew best by far, and so having him near was a comfort.
"I suppose I could go try to talk to him...if you think that might work. I'd hate to frighten him with an entire searching party..."

As the two other browns made their landings, Leweleth found himself pressed against the opposite side of the clearing, head dipped cautiously and wings pulled tight against his body as he glanced over the other two. T'kal was already being confronted about a plan, the young brownrider clearly surprised by the leadership position of the 'wing' that Leweleth had pushed him into by taking charge. The young man had already pulled out his blade, cautiously testing the edge against his forefinger. He didn't want to hurt the boy, but - well, if it was necessary, he would. It was as simple as that. Survival of the fittest; press all advantages. If only Leweleth could come with him...he grimaced slightly as the brown crooned low in his throat. "I'd like to hold off discussing anything till - um, till Ruskeath's joins us." He still couldn't remember the man's name for the life of him...
A slight frown graced the usually cheerful features as he turned in the direction of a group of snarls that resembled a feline's; Leweleth craned his neck, huffing softly in anxiety. Your knife is sharp? It always is. Don't worry, Leth. The queen fire lizard dropped to his shoulder, curling her talons carefully to keep from piercing the wherhide he wore, and chirruped reassuringly. Leweleth rumbled. The little sister says it is the boy's mind. Fine. Fine, okay...what should we do? Just go in and get him? An dangerous plan. He knows the land, and we don't. I'd suggest - The brown fell silent as G'tor and the Candidate joined them, T'kal flashing her a brief grin of recognition as he ran his hand through his hair distractedly, almost unseating Zesa, who clung tightly, uttering a small reprimand.
At the Candidate's question, he blinked, and then nodded. "Yes. Zesa found him. He's in a little cave - or at least, he was - not far from here. North. She can take us there." He glanced at the fire lizard queen, who chirped a soft affirmative. "Even if he left, it shouldn't take long to find him again - he isn't dragon-mounted, after all, and he can only go so far at such short notice." Her suggestion was met with a momentary silence as he reached tentatively for Leweleth's mind, considering it. "It's dangerous," he stated frankly. "I thought you might have realized that, considering he threw a knife at you last time...you're armed, I take it? And you - ?" He blinked guiltily at G'tor, still unable to place the man's face and dragon with a name. You are not expected to know /everyone/, Leweleth pointed out mildly. "I'd feel a lot better if you let us come with you, anyway. We don't necessarily have to be visible to the wildling, but close enough that we can help you if you need it."
He hesitated, and rubbed the back of his head. "And...um, he'll have to ride dragonback back to the Weyr," the brownrider commented, hesitating slightly. "So he's either going to have to be willing to come, be unconscious, or - well, or he'll be carried. Personally, I don't want Leweleth hurt, whether be it because he's been bitten, stabbed, or anything else." He is a boy. He cannot hurt me, Leweleth said confidently. Let the girl take the little sister, and you follow a short distance behind. Don't frighten him. Keep her in view, keep your knives out. If he gives in, that's good; if he doesn't, we'll frighten him into coming. That's cruel... It'll be simple. We'll all roar. At once. "Okay..." T'kal frowned slightly, and then sketched out Leweleth's plan. "Leth suggests that we let you - Saeo, isn't it? - and Zesa go ahead. See if you can get the boy out, we'll be close behind, not in view, ready to make sure things don't go wrong. If he won't come, then Leweleth, Ruskeath, and Kaaoloth - provided that they're willing - will roar or bugle simultaneously, and see if that scares him into coming. If not..." He grimaced. "We'll go from there." T'kal glanced questioningly at the others.

Kaaoloth was amused by Pepsi’s feline call. He does a pretty good job Selmine but he does not have the vocal cords to pull it off completely. It would be enough to fool most people though. The browns comment was lost on the rider however as Sel’n was not paying attention to his beast at all. Instead he was listening intently to T’kal. “Yes I am armed and that is a acceptable plan the candidate should be able to lull him into a false sense of security. Just a suggestion however, would it be better if you stayed with her” he motioned toward Saeo, “and G’tor and I headed around to cut him off if he should run?”
Kaaoloth rumbled as he listened to the conversation. Tell them I will go along with the plan and will add my voice if they should need it. Sel’n looked up at his beast and nodded. “Regardless of what we decide to do Kaaoloth says he will add his voice if you need it.” He stated to the others before peering into the dense jungle. A lot of the foliage was beginning to wilt and the clearing where they were camped was dry and parched. The weather patterns were not going to make this easy. “Make sure you watch for felines they have been getting bolder as of late.” Kaaoloth snorted and Sel’n turned again to the other riders. “Kaaoloth says he does not smell any felines but never the less we should be careful.”
Kaaoloth tilted his head as he suddenly remembered something, they were to let Corinth know their progress where they not? Leweleth He said to the other brown swinging his head around to face the beast. Should we let Corinth know our progress?

Well, there was no dragons flying away, which meant his last-ditch effort to scare them off had failed. Pepsi frowned to himself, gathering his rocks close at hand so he could throw them should they try to force him out. He really didn't want to leave his cave; the narrow tunnel meant they couldn't rush him, and they couldn't surprise him. The dragons wouldn't be able to get at him either, not unless they dug his cave up... But the chances of the cave collapsing might keep them at bay.
He touched the large knife at his side, eyes flashing in the dim lighting of his sanctuary. He didn't want to go back... And if they wanted him, they would have to drag him kicking and screaming back to the Weyr! That thought in mind, he began to plot. Running would be a last resort, since that annoying firelizard would just track him down; his cave was a safe place for him to make a stand, and he would only leave if he needed to. Hopefully they would be hesitant in hurting him; he could use that to his advantage, maybe manage to knock a few of them out.
How many had come, though? Just the dragonriders, or did they bring in reinforcements? He shifted nervously, wishing he had set up a few traps before he had decided to become lazy. Well, it was too late now... He was out of options.
{Bah. Short post is short.}

"G'tor," G'tor supplied his name to T'kal easily. He wasn't bothered that the other didn't know his name since he had never saw himself as very memorable. He looked a little sheepish at the question though. "Actually, I'm not armed. I wasn't expecting to come out here when I got ready this morning." Not that having a weapon would have help much. Despite his size and strength, G'tor had never been much of a fighter. He listened carefully to the plans and suggestions and nodded to each one.
"It sounds like a sensible plan to me," he said in agreement. <I would be happy to help> Ruskeath added. <But tell Saeo to be careful.> The big brown nudged the girl in concern. He didn't want his little friend to be harmed. "And Rusk says he'll help," G'tor translated and turned to Saeo. "He also said for you to be careful," he told her before moving to stand with Sel'n as the other had suggested. He discovered that bare feet, which were fine for the beach, the Weyr, and even the fields, were decidedly uncomfortable on the uneven roots and surface of the jungle. He dismissed it though and concentrated on the task at hand. <You be careful too> Ruskeath told him privately as the brown watched the jungle warily.

Saeo's eyes were fixed contemplatively on the jungle floor as she felt Ruskeath nudging her in the back. She smiled faintly, draping an affectionate arm around the dragon's broad face and stroking him gently. She wished she could assure him she would be careful, but she wasn't even sure what she was getting herself into. G'tor she could trust -she knew him to be a kind and gentle man- but she'd seen Lewleth's in action the first time Pepsi was captured...and the other rider, of the three-legged brown...she didn't much care for the look of him at all...
"I don't like the idea of luring him into a false anything."
She said at last, voicing the thoughts that fluttered distractingly behind her eyes.
"And I don't like the idea of slinking around in the bushes like a gang of holdless bandits. Frightening him won't do any good. Fortune keep us, it might just rile him up enough to attack and then nobody will be benefiting from this excursion. Please, don't be rash. If I can't convince him...then...then we can think up something better. No dragons. Please."
Her eyes went to Zesa, the little fire lizard she had always been able to admire and trust. They would make a good team she was sure, as both of them lacked the testosterone which always seemed to make violence a viable solution. Lifting her arm from Ruskeath's head, she made a small beckoning motion, hoping that the queen would be able to translate it as an invitation to perch on her shoulder.

T'kal wrinkled his nose absently at the opinions and names offered by the others. G'tor. He had to remember that, but - shells, why on Pern wasn't he armed? Didn't all dragonriders typically carry at least one blade on their person, some more? He tapped his own blade thoughtfully with his forefinger, glancing at Leweleth, who eyed him impassively, clearly confident that they would succeed in their mission. The brownrider bit his lip, surveying the rest of them. Saeo had already been hurt the last time they'd had to snag Pepsi out of the wild, and unless her knife skills had improved drastically, she probably wouldn't be much help. G'tor wouldn't either, if it came down to a fight - he wasn't even armed; Sel'n might be, and T'kal knew that he himself probably wouldn't be exactly a great asset, even if he was able to handle his blade.
So, best to avoid a fight...Saeo's words, though, brought a faint frown to T'kal's face and he shifted, glancing at her, eyes narrowing slightly as he appraised her briefly. The little sister will be with her, and you and Kaaoloth's and Ruskeath's will not be far behind. It will be safe, Leweleth stated quietly, and T'kal sighed slightly, and nodded. Explain to Zesa, please? A pause, and then the queen chirruped softly, jumping from T'kal's shoulder to glide to Saeo's, carefully tucking her claws under to keep from piercing skin as she slid her tail loosely around the Candidate's throat, the tip twitching lightly against her collarbone. She understands, and she is willing, Leweleth informed T'kal. Okay...good...
"Okay," he stated out loud, trying to gather his thoughts. "Saeo, you take Zesa ahead of us, and try to convince him to return. I don't know if he remembers me or not, but I don't want him to be frightened by my precense. Assuming that you've never met him before, G'tor, perhaps you'd better go with Saeo? I'm hoping that you won't need to be armed - try to make it peaceful, if at all possible. Sel'n and I will wait here, but make sure Ruskeath keeps Leweleth and Kaaoloth updated on what's going on so we can have a good head start if anything does break out..." He exhaled, slightly doubtful of the soundness of the plan he was sketching out quickly. It wasn't airtight, but it would have to do. "Er, I'm guessing that Saeo knows Pepsi best, so I'll let you choose what to say and how to convince him..." He made a slightly wry face. "If there's absolutely no way you can...we'll go from there."
Perhaps that's a good idea, Leweleth agreed to Kaaoloth's query. I'll let him know. The dark brown dragon raised his head, touching the Weyrleader's dragon's mind. Corinth, the little sister has located the wildling, and she and the Candidate are going to try to convince him to come peaceably, along with G'tor...Mine only sent him along so there's some contact between us. He's not armed, but basically that's our plan for now. Any suggestions, or should we just go? The bronze dragon paused before the reply came: It sounds good to me; just make sure they're on their guard. There are any number of dangers in the jungle - and the wildling himself. Passing the message to His and thanking Corinth, Leweleth rumbled softly.
"Okay..." T'kal repeated, "Corinth says that he thinks it should work; but he wants to make sure you're on your guard - the wildling is far from the most dangerous thing in the jungle, and that's saying something." A wry grin flicked across his face and he shrugged, taking a step away from Saeo and towards Leweleth to let her enter the jungle. "Straight that way, Zesa can show you," he stated, pointing in the direction of the cave.
