Greetings, folks.
It's a well-known fact that mutations exist on Selenitas. Most often, these "mutations" come from Millieth's clutches due to her having been experimented on - but any male dragon from Benden that was experimented on can sire clutches with mutations. Over the years, we've had a lot of interesting mutations - Phremath with her wings, Checkoth with two tails, Feyrianth with four wings, Chakraith being the wrong gender.
The problem is, we're starting to have some trouble thinking outside of the box. This is where you come in.
Between now and May 27th, we'd like everyone to submit a mutation that they would like to see on a dragon. You can tell us what color it is, etc. Try to be creative. All participants will give 10 marks (So tell me which character you want them to go to) and each player can submit one mutation. Winner will be decided by TASHE -- not me. And the final winner gets to be featured in a clutch here on Selenitas - either Tashe's or someone else's if she has her mutations decided. (We won't tell you which either.)
Sound fun? Get submitting.

OOH OOH Marks to Tiramnet. Also, Sym my love, what about the world's favorite (dead) photophobe dragon?? Don't tell me you forgot Adith >> Meet the...
Crocodilian Crinet Green Her elegant form is almost unmatched among dragonkind. From her sculped, dished muzzle, to her deep-set, large eyes and arched neck, to her lithe form and long, high-set tail, this green is a study in carriage, poise, and nobility. Even her storm-grey talons are the perfect size, though her foreclaws must be tended carefully, for they cannot retract. Her form is a work of art... until one comes to her topline. A mutation in ridge development caused her to grow heavy scutes along her neck, back, and tail. Only connected to her body where they would normally grow as ridges, her scute look as if the heavy ridges a dragon would normally have were split down the middle, heated, and melted down to lie along her hide, where they overlap and sometimes chafe, but allow her to still move. In comparison to her deep forest green hide, they are a dull grey color and look similar to crocodile scutes or armor such as would be worn by a runner. Perhaps the only benefit is that they behave as armor, protecting her spine from attacks. <3

I'm not sure if you just wanted physical mutations, but my idea is a dragon that's allergic to firestone. It can be any color, though having it on someone large, like a bronze, could be interesting. Touching firestone would result in an itchy rash and swelling. Eating it would make the dragon sneeze, even sneeze fire if he/she ate enough. If it's not treated quickly, it could result in a more violent reaction like asphyxiation. Treatment would likely be a form of anti-inflammatory, not sure what's available. Once the condition was discovered, his/her rider will probably need to take extra care to prevent violent, even fatal reactions.
Marks can go to Haoyamae. ^_^

This little green is absolutely perfect and flawless in almost every way. Almost, that is. All four of her claws--if you can call them claws at all--are completely different from that of every other dragon. The front "claws" are twisted, facing out to each side instead of forward like they should. Strangely enough, they are rather large and swollen, almost like little rounded paddles. The back "claws", even more strangely, are facing backwards. They are rather limp. On these claws, she actually walks on the dragon equivalent of wrists or ankles. Her coloring only draws attention to her mutation. Although at the top of her body she is a rich, deep green, it slowly fades into a soft gray on her legs. Her tail, too, seems to have gotten this twisted, bloated mutation, though it is not nearly as obvious. In fact, her tail simply looks thick for her slender body, but with a strange twist, almost like someone tried to knot the tail. The tip of her tail is almost grey.

Introducing the “Can You Hear Me Now?” blue A passing glance will find very little to be imperfect about this small, silvery-gray blue. He’s sleek, his sides and flanks decorated by streaks of pale silver and violet that meld into the rest of his hide flawlessly, like clouds across a sky. However, a closer look will find that his headknobs have been twisted and malformed; the left almost doubles back to come to an irregular point near his eye ridge, and his right dips downwards and juts out unevenly. Both appear to have been twisted like dough, and left like that. The result is painfully simple: The blue cannot control his telepathic abilities. Between will be impossible, and though his bonding will be smooth and his presence in his Bonded’s mind constant, the words that he attempts to pass will not be. Think: Badly tuned radio. Then, replace the static and interference with garbled emotions, images, and words, taking up about fifty percent of this blue’s attempts at contacting another’s mind, and you have roughly an idea of this blue’s handicap. marks to vix. <3

This mutation could work on any color, but I imagine it working best on a very, very small blue.
This dragon has only two noticeable flaws: his paws and the forks of his tail are webbed, and he sports a nearly invisible slit on either side of his neck, just above his shoulders. The flaps of skin that cover the slits flutter almost imperceptibly every time he takes a deep breath, but his rider will likely be puzzled by these mutations for quite some time.
Only once the dragon is old enough to go swimming for the first time will the slits' use become clear. The first time he submerges his head all the way, he will discover something incredible: if he just thinks about it, he can breathe water just like he breathes air. Yep, those slits are gills. Those and his webbed appendages make him an excellent swimmer, and he will probably find more in common with dolphins than with other dragons. An odd little creature indeed.
Marks to M'kai, I suppose, unless I finish the character that is kicking around my head.

Beware of... The Yeti Dragon? This dragon's mutation works with any colour, though I imagined it on a bigger dragon just to cause some chaos. I also imagined them being quite bulky, but again, whatever the clutch master feels like doing with it (if it is used). This dragon's mutation is likely to give their rider palpitations. This dragon is a particular pain to oil for they're covered with fur. How exactly do you oil the hide of a dragon when you can't get through their thicky, long fur? The rider will have to be quite creative...or maybe just completely immerse their dragon in oil. This dragon does still have to be oiled. Though the hide is thinner than on most dragons, the hide is still there and can still crack if not looked after properly. Happy oiling to their rider! Marks to Dy'shi.

I have no idea what kind of marks my charries have, so I guess just take the ten from whoever is richest? XD
My idea:
This dragon appears normal from all sides at hatching. And even a few months after hatching, it seems just fine and normal. However, after a few months, it starts having a drooling problem that it can't contain, always dripping everywhere. Worse yet, the drool is flammable... every time it drips, it catches fire before it ever hits anything, starting fires on whatever it lands on. As the dragon matures, it slowly starts being able to control the dripping, but then learns that chewing firestone just gives it a belly ache. For there is no second stomach for the stone to go into!! All the stone just lands in the food-belly, and eventually gets passed through (ouch)
In place of a firestone belly, this dragon instead has a glandular sac that contains all that drool - which is always in production. Thus the drooling. And when that chemical drool meets oxygen of any kind of concentration, it bursts into flame.
Once this is learned how to be controlled to decent extent, this dragon will not need stone to flame, instead being able to produce a huge swatch of flame on demand with impressive reach. However, until this discipline is learned through trial and error, the dragon is just gonna start fires everywhere whether intentional or not.
The drawback to not needing stone to flame, is once the glans run dry, there is a forced wait until more chemical generates. So the dragon has a rather defined usefullness, when it comes to threadfall or war. However, flame is always instant on a moment's notice when it is there.
(would be a really interesting complication to see this mutation on a queen? - nevermind we're full up on queens!! just a random thought ^_^)
