Thread of Destiny Gather
"The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of time, place or circumstances. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break."
Hyphen Hold has gone all out with this romance-themed Gather. It's hosted in the Hold's Gather area; a large, open air space with the Dancing Square located in the middle. Stalls line the edges of the area making it easy to move about at the Gather. White banners with intricate red embroidering adorn the Hold, making the usually somber atmosphere far more lively and cheerful. The colour theme is quite obvious considering most of the stalls feature elegantly carved cherry-stained wood as well as equally gorgeous red and white fabric decorations. At least a couple stalls have some never before seen items for sale specific to this Gather. On top of the things to see and buy, there are several events that Hyphen Hold is holding that are also unique. Without a doubt, this is a Hyphen Gather!

Weaver Stall
As usual, the Weaver stall is vibrant and eye catching. How could it not be with colourful and beautiful gowns, rugs, blankets, and other works of fabric art flapping gently in the breeze as if beckoning customers in? The merchandise of the brother and sister Weavers running the stall is carefully hung on the elegantly carved, cherry stained wood characteristic of this Gather or folded on a couple of the wooden tables. There is a large red and white cover for the stall should bad weather approach.
Masterweaver Loren is bubbly and a bit nosy; she will haggle within 1-3 marks. Journeyman Weaver Rechal is blunt but not unfriendly; he will haggle within a mark.

Tanner Stall
One may not think this pretty stall is run by a Tanner but it most assuredly is. Covering the tables are gorgeous white clothes with a large lace rose in the center that allows the wood to be seen through it. At the customer-facign corners of the table simple red fabric hangs loosely. It is somewhat of a shame that the finely crafted leatherworks rest on the tables. Thankfully the open air Gather helps minimize any of the smells associated with tanning so the only thing that may drive people away is the rather large Journeyman running the stall.
Journeyman Tanner Wedelchin is a somber man with a lot of pride in his work; he will haggle within 1-2 marks if he is complimented for his fine crafts.

Toy stall
This stall is set close to the Weaver stall. The merchandise set in bright cherry colored wooden bins and displayed on shelves of the same color. The bins are set about waist high to prevent any little ones from simply making off with the sale items. There is however a small area set aside for ‘official testing’. On a red rug a number of toys are spread about for the younger gather goers and their supervisors to test out before they buy.
Toymaker Fahin is an older man. Grey haired, wrinkled and friendly. He clearly adores children and will be more than happy to humor them in a bout of haggling. Special discounts to those children who make him laugh. Will haggle with adults from 1-2 marks. Children 1-4.

Woodcraft Stall
The wood decorations at this stall are particularly amazing. Though it uses the same wood tables to market its merchandise, the legs of the tables have the forms of firelizards carved into them. Not too surprisingly, the display tables are also for sale. As far as banners go, this shop lacks them entirely. Wood and only wood abound at the Woodcraft Stall.
Journeyman Woodcrafter Qevorin is an honest but quiet man; he will haggle within 2-5 marks, especially on more expensive items.

Spa Stall
Known for its bath houses all over Pern, Hyphen naturally offers spa services. The ‘stall’ itself is really just a booth set up outside the largest of these houses bordering and fed by the hot springs. Services are listed at the table, and those willing to pay the high prices will be treated like lords and ladies within. The house has been festooned in red, white and pink to perpetuate the Gather’s theme. This is one stall where haggling can do you a world of good, for the kindly older lady running the stall has been known to reduce prices by as much as 5 marks if a patron is particularly flattering.

Aromatherapy Stall
Two long tables have been erected directly across from the Spa Stall located in front of Hyphen’s largest bath house. An elderly couple mans these. They offer a variety of incense, oils and candles, all organized and neatly labeled. These two will gladly answer any questions - as well as talk a sizable hole into your coinpurse. Don’t expect any deals from them; they rarely ever stray from marked prices, though they’ve been known to raise them if they don’t like your tone.

Food Stall
Not a single booth, but rather five thrown together, it stands at the center of the Gather. The rich cherry wood has been polished to a lovely gleam, swathed in a cheaper red fabric that easily absorbs any stains caused by careless customers or servers. The canopy above is made of a richer white silk, extending outward to poles to provide shade for customers. Several tables range around the stall. Each sports a red tablecloth and a vase with a single white rose.
The five long tables at the center are arranged in a rough pentagon around spits, smoke pits, and smaller tables used for preparation. A customer need only walk up to one and a free server will come to serve them cafeteria style, moving with them down the full length of the five tables until the customer is satisfied. All servers are allowed to haggle within one mark of the set price if they so desire, but be wary. Heat can make for ornery vendors and pushing them too far will mean a more expensive meal.

Gem/Mining stall
This stall is set directly next to the jewelry stall. In fact the two are separated only by a red silk partition. The stall itself is made up of cherry wood display cabinets inlaid with glass tops. There is no other decoration as the miners prefer to let their merchandise take the entirety of the spotlight. To this end the merchandise is lit up from below with strong glows which are changed frequently. Each display case is separated into the different gem or semi precious stone offered, with various styles and colors all on display. Prices are clearly marked and unfortunately non negotiable. The stall is also heavily policed with a large number of journeymen miners set at strategic locations so that the stall is kept heavily policed at all times. Attempted theft and thievery will be dealt with harshly.
Master miner Omris is a rather large and intimidating man with a gruff manner and no nonsense attitude. At least a few of his many sons and journeyman police the stall and are also willing to answer any questions one might have. They are friendly but not lenient. One is expected to be on their very best behavior when dealing at this stall.

Jewelry stall
This stall is set up to adjoin the Gem/Mining stall. It is set up in exactly the same fashion with only one big difference. In this stall a complex work station has been set up near the very back of the stall. Expressly for the purpose of handcrafting custom jewelry. The twin hyphen mining brothers certainly have quite the racket going on it seems. And the money to pay for the staff to keep it well guarded.
Master Jeweler Osurn is just as large and intimidating as his fraternal twin brother. However in disposition they are wildly different. Osurn has a friendly and jovial air about him. He quite willing to chat up even the rudest of customers. It is hard not to like and respect the man. He is extremely customer oriented and not afraid to haggle and suggest things to his customers.
Red Threads 1 mark a pair
**The theme for the gather. Set up on a table are a large amount of red strings sold by the pair. It is perhaps ironically the most popular item. The origin linked to a old legend. According to this legend, the gods tie an invisible red string around the ankles of men and women who are destined to be soul mates and will one day marry each other.
Underneath the table containing the thread is a intricately etched plaque with the following phrase.
"The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of time, place or circumstances. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break."

Blacksmith stall
This stall is set across from the Woodcrafter stall. It is fairly simply set up with a cheery wood counter spanning the entire front of the white cloth stall. The merchandise clearly displayed on shelves and stands in the back. The stall is simple, clean, and efficiently run. In fact it seems to take much after the stall keeper himself.
Master Blacksmith Buric is a short but intimidating man. He doesn’t speak much but he will be glad to answer and questions you have. Even if it is in a rather gruff sort of manner. He however absolutely refuses to sell his merchandise to woman. His craftsmanship speaks for itself however and the weapons he sells are nothing short of the best quality you can find in the south. His apprentice Junior Journeyman Kalyv is the more talkative and friendly of the two. He is also a shameless flirt and tends to give receptive females better deals…. behind Buric’s back of course. Buric will often refuse to haggle and will not sell to a woman. Kalyv will haggle up to 2 marks. (He will also sell to a woman when Buric is on break or otherwise involved.)
