Humans:
Name: D’vin
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Rank: Brownrider (Fort Wingsecond)
Physical Appearance: D’vin appears frail, the last person anyone would expect to be a Wingsecond. He has a somewhat gawky appearance. He is tall and not the most muscular person one would expect coming out from a warring Weyr. His limbs are long, with each finger and toe appearing to be longer than average as well. He is extraordinarily pale, and it is obvious that D’vin is more scholarly than battle-worthy. However, he is very capable of strength- when his cold hands latch onto your arm, the force behind them is made clear, his spidery fingers gripping your skin can leave red mark on your arm.
His face is oval and long, his complexion as pale as the rest. His dark eyes are almond-shaped, looking almost beetle-black, the irises almost completely blending in with the pupils. Though he looks attractive, the distant look on his face usually discourages others. His nose is long and slightly pointed, but it small and does not stick out too far from his face. It is balanced proportionately over his pink lips, that are long and only slightly thinner than average. They rarely smile- he is not one to waste smiles on uselessness. His hair is jet-black, matching his dark eyes. It is straight, cut straightly to his ears, but sometimes it hangs in front of his face if not properly controlled. He is careful about that, though; little loss of control gets past D’vin.
Personality: D’vin is somewhat of a recluse. He will never willingly throw himself into a social situation save if it could affect his duties. He is much more content to sit in the background and take notes rather than get involved in direct action. This also counts for relationships- he has never mentioned any relationship whenever the subject comes up, leading many people to think he just doesn’t think about sex. However, he’s bound to have had a relationship in his life at some point. Hiriarth isn’t exactly the most deprived dragon.
D’vin is unbelievably intelligent. He spent much of his childhood in the Archives, just reading up on history, which is the reason he knows so much about the war. In his eyes, he is capable of becoming like some of the most notable in the warring Weyrs’ history. How he plans on doing so, though, will probably never be revealed.
Living in Fort has left D’vin being unbelievably sarcastic and hateful towards others. Trust is and always has been an issue for him. He simply sees no reason why putting trust in other is practical. They are free to give away information despite what they say, and they can turn around and destroy you in an instant. Because of this, D’vin keeps himself distant from others, shying away from friendship and deliberately remaining aloof.
History: D’vin was born Devin, a son of riders. He was the firstborn boy child, and, because of that, he grew up in a good life. He was educated by harpers, instructed by bronzeriders, and allowed near everything he wanted- all so that he would grow up on Fort’s side. So, as a child, he learned the ways of the riders, getting it drilled into his head at such a young age that Fort was superior to Benden.
However, a curious child, Devin also read the Records. Delving all the way to the back, he read about the origins of this war, and Devin grew increasingly withdrawn as he realized all he was ever taught was a lie. There was no superior Weyr- just two Weyrs that happened to be so tragically competitive. One Weyr, however, caught his attention: Selenitas Weyr, the one that avoided wars and basically had a dictatorship for many long Turns. Upon some innocent questioning of drunken riders, however, Devin discovered Selenitas was improving once the Line of Selenitas had been broken.
Secretly desiring to be a Selenitas rider, Devin rose through the boys and was shining. He may not have been the most dominant, but his intelligence and seemingly zealous loyalty to Fort attracted the attention of D’loro, who took Devin under his wing. Instructing the candidate, the boy became his assistant, keeping track of D’loro’s plans and becoming one of the most trusted people of the Weyrleader; all of which was what Devin intended to happen.
It was no surprise when Devin Impressed at the age of sixteen to a steady brown dragon. It suited his personality perfectly, and D’vin did the Weyrleader proud. Through relatively easy weyrling Turns, he was instantly appointed to wingsecond fresh out of graduation.
Things seemed to have been easy for him since then- his close relationship with D’loro makes him the least expected to be a spy. Lately, his love has been the freeing of dragonless slaves, and bringing them to Selenitas. His adult life is seldom talked about, making people think that something has happened in it, but D’vin refuses to comment. It is also funny how he refuses to comment on why he is at Selenitas as often as he is…
Dragons/Whers/Fire Lizards:
Name: Hiriarth
Color: Brown
Age: 13
Physical Appearance: Hiriarth is a good, sturdy brown. He is fairly large, but not monstrously so. He has his fair share of battle scars, but not ones that make him appear disfigured. He is good at avoiding one-on-one situations with other riders, so most of his scars are Threadscore. His hide is a ruddy red-brown, nearly a perfect shading that is even throughout, save for his many scars.
Personality: Hiriarth is a good match for his rider, even though their personality may not completely be identical. He is a strong leader, but can submit enough to follow the lead of bronzes. He actually doesn’t like to be always the leader, so he is perfectly happy where he is. He, like his rider, is thoughtful and intelligent, giving quiet input when needed, but observant at all other times. He also isn’t one to launch himself into too many Flights, but he won’t deprive himself completely. If his need is strong enough, he will rise to Chase, but he generally will keep himself out of Flights. Every now and then, however, he may take a liking to a green…
