After a while six puppies and often two adult canines became a little too much to handle in his personal Weyr. Even when the Weyrwoman took her turns in caring for the pups, though since she was really busy most of the time the pups were more often at his place than her's. So, in an attempt to lessen his load, E'iah inquired after the use of an empty Runner stall to house the rowdy puppies and their mother. And that is why he now found himself sitting on the fresh hay and flakes that was normally the flooring for a Runner but now sufficed as bedding for his pups. Toys of all sizes lay scattered among the rolling mass of fuzzballs, most disappearing under one pup just to be seen in the jaws of another. Occasionally, an adventurous pup would leap onto Soleil's tail and was immediately enveloped by the larger male in good humor. Rishin, on the other hand, was happy to relax and forcefully clean her pups from ears to tail.
Five out of the six puppies would be available for adoption, the sixth already having been claimed. As a Canine lover, E'iah was loath to give any of the pups away but he knew that had to eventually, and Kaegan's gentle remarks helped soothe his dismay. Looking up to the two, lazily awaiting Riders, he cleared his throat to gain their attention. "Um, Weyrwoman, would you have Millieth tell the people who were interested in the puppies where they can be found?"
"Oh, sure thing." Leaning against the wall between the stables, she happily contacted her Dragon to send out the message. It was the least she could do. Attention those of you who have been inquiring after the puppies, they can be found in the stables and are looking for a good home... that is not mine... so come.
K'thay on the other hand ignored the interaction between the boy and their Weyrwoman, instead watching the gangley and long legged pup he had (at the last moment) decided to call his own. What was he getting himself into... it was against his better nature to allow a pet into his home, having come from the war starved north. Pets were a liability, a weakness and it hurt when they died. But for some reason, in the end he gave into A'emi's prodding. A puppy. Well... at least it was kinda cute.
===
Puppy#1: Female; Fluffy; white, tan, and grey with black spots. Extremely energetic, wrestling with puppy #4. Has a blue, and a brown eye. Adopted by K'sel
Puppy#2: Female; tan and grey with black splotches; energetic, playing tug of war with puppy #6. Brown eyes. Adopted by Ae'on
Puppy#3: Male; Reddish Brown and White; docile, getting cleaned by Rishin. Greenish grey eyes.
Puppy#4: Male; Black, tan, and white. Outgoing, wrestling with puppy #1. Ice blue eyes.
Puppy#5: Male; Reddish brown, black, and white. Confident, play attacking Soleil. Has a blue, and a brown eye.
Puppy#6: Tan, black and white. Ice blue eyes. Adopted
[E'iah will help guide the process of adoption! He doesn't want an over worked person to get an over excited canine. But ultimately, the decision will be up to the adopter. One pup per player, unless there is an excess.]

There was a little known fact about Ae'on. He liked canines. As far as pets went they were loyal, trainable, and...okay yeah, pretty cute. So when the Healer had first heard about the litter of puppies that had been born he'd naturally become interested in them. Then he'd subsequently put them out of his mind because, really, he didn't know the bluerider or the Weyrwoman who they belonged to well enough to ask for one. Nor did he want to try to pay if they weren't for sale. Haggling was so not his strong suit and if they absolutely refused to sell then it would have been a wasted trip.
So imagine his surprise when Millieth's broadcast was relayed to him by Sfelyth. The blue was rather ambivalent about a new pet. He didn't particularly like sharing His but he wasn't really against a puppy. It would take a truly heartless individual to hate a puppy. Fuffy wuffy, Me commented cheerfully, fluttering onto Ae'on's shoulder. "You just want to come because people will be there." It was an entirely valid accusation and the green trilled in clear amusement. The bluerider rolled his eyes and hopped up on Sfelyth's back with ease that had come with time.
Sfelyth deposited his rider outside the stables, a fair distance so as not to disturb any of the tempermental beasts inside. Such skittish creatures! The dragon found it rather amusing that they were so often afraid even when he didn't want to eat them at that very moment. Ae'on dismounted with a Me in tow and headed into the stables, surprised to see three people. Two seemed rather more intent on the people rather than the puppies while the third had his gaze focused on the main attraction. He opened his mouth to greet them, opting for politeness, given the circumstances. Instead of his voice though, Me intoned, Sexy arrived!
"Ae'on, actually. Hello," the rider supplied without missing a beat, his scowl and growing blush the only sign that his 'mandyr embarassed him. "I...they look very healthy." Back to the initial problem - how does one ask for a puppy from someone they don't know? His eyes flitted over to the puppies and his scowl lightened somewhat. They were all very cute, a mixed breed considering the two adult dogs. Just at a glance he could already pick out a few favourites.
((Said 'favourites' are actually my preferences: 2, 5, and 3 in that order. Puppiiiiies! <3))

Puppies.
They were being given away already?
A’emi ignored Kyrahth’s irritable grumble at being prodded by Millieth in favor of glancing in the direction of the stables, thoughtful. He liked the puppies, but he didn’t want one because he rather doubted Spice would appreciate having a dog in the weyr, as if it wasn’t already crowded enough, but K’thay…K’thay should be getting one. He was pretty sure he’d convinced the bluerider, but that had been back before the puppies had been moved to the stables and K’thay best not have changed his mind. Casually the greenrider set down Kyrahth’s riding straps, which he’d been re-oiling, and uncurled from the bed, tossing a “Promise I won’t bring home any strays” at T’san as he went.
He got to the stables a few minutes after Sfelyth and Ae’on arrived—with a sarcastic salute to the blue dragon as he passed; that one was on Mi’rah’s wing, the Healer-pair—and slipped inside with a flicker of a glance for E’iah (also Mi’rah’s, what was this, a wing get-together inspired by puppies?) and Kaegan before he zeroed in on K’thay. Bumping his shoulder up against K’thay’s in greeting and leaning against a stall door he tilted his head to glance at his friend, offering a way-too-innocent, “Did you pick one yet? Casti’s okay with it now?”
Not that he really expected Castidenloth to put up a terrible fuss; Casti wasn’t Kyrahth and unless he was just extraordinarily randomly jealous of canines the blue had never struck A’emi as the type to fuss at all. And puppies were cute. Surely he had to appreciate that puppies were adorable; even Kyrahth couldn’t hate a puppy no matter how much she might grumble at A’emi when he came back reeking of dog—which was unfair because Spice hadn’t even seemed to notice. The feline was less of a snot about dogs than his dragon, what was even wrong with that.
*
“Let’s play a game.”
Ooh game, Sparath answered, liberally sarcastic, I do love me some games.
Ce’thian decided to ignore the sarcasm. “I say ‘puppy,’ you say—?”
Hairball, pee, noisy, chewy, wet noses and muddy paws.
Blink. “Chewy? No. Never mind, I don’t want to know. You don’t get to eat puppies Sparath, that’s not what they’re there for. I think I might go get one. Would you mind? It’d be nice to have something that couldn’t talk back around, you know.”
Sparath snorted, and Ce’thian got the draconic equivalent of a thorough eye-roll. Oh who am I to deny my very own lovely Minething his deepest dreams and desires…if it pees on my couch you are cleaning it up and then I am going to scare it to death, and if it poops on my couch then I am going to eat it. And then you are cleaning up the poop, along with the inevitable puppy-mess. And get a male so it can’t get pregnant and eject spawn all over the weyr. He dipped his wing, uncurling for Ce’thian to mount with a wide yawn, eyes half-lidded in sleepiness.
“Eating is not an option,” Ce’thian reiterated, even as he mounted and Sparath slipped off the ledge without even bothering to open his wings first, opting to go between instead of flying; he reappeared to pinwheel above the stables and touched down near Sfelyth, promptly tipping onto his belly and plopping his muzzle onto his forelimbs to continue his nap as Ce’thian dismounted with only a little bit of exasperation to go into the stables.
He acknowledged Kaegan with a pleasant “Weyrwoman” and a quirked smile and E’iah with a nod, but the puppies were the ones he focused on the most. “You’ve probably got half the Weyr tripping to get ahold of ‘em but if one of ‘em needs a home, I’d be happy to take one.”
((I am late!applier, and also I am not picky so Ce’thian can take leftover puppy if there is one…if not he will just have to stalk for a puppy later.))

It is because... once upon a time, you were small, and cuddly, and actually very fun and snuggable...
I am a dragon, I am not supposed to be snuggable.
You were though. Pettahth, stop being so stubborn, a puppy isn't a replacement. You are much better smelling.
He continued to cross the ground to the stables, perfectly smug that he had found the perfect words to silence the protests of his brown. It wasn't so much an issue of jealousy with Pettahth, the little tan dragon was absolutely positive of his role in K'sel's life, and a weyrmate, or a baby, or a new puppy, wasn't going to threaten that. He instead was being incredibly practical. As mentioned he already had all of these new things, was it so good to throw a furball into the mix? But, if K'sel wanted to brand him as being the envious older brother, then he could do him one better even yet, and from his place on the ledge, stuck his nose up in the air and replied, Oh yeah? Well, at least I haven't gone soft... since when did you jump into action at the command of a gold?
Before the rider could even make it through the big, broad, doors to the stables, he felt the need to pause as something resembling concern washed over his face. Oh! Pettahth! Curse him, Your words cut to the core my friend. I have sacrificed my basic beliefs in pursuit of childish things.... a split second passed before the whining and play growls of wrestling pups distracted him again. Yeah right, as if he was going to give up on this now, besides, there was Neph's weirdo brother, and he couldn't stand to walk away knowing that guy got one and not him, I am a lesser person now... too bad I've hit the point of no return. In he went, doing his best, not to wiggle as excitedly as the little baby canines themselves. He was just a bit too excited... one would think someone was waggling free alcohol in front of him.
He didn't even care too much that the Weyrwoman was standing right there. Frankly he saw her so rarely, she might as well have been translucent; he was seeing right through her, having only the eyes for the adorable spotted and patched fuzzies. He immediately edged in as close as good manners allowed and kneeled down to a good playtime level before he even looked up to hear Ae'on awkwardly inquire about the creatures. Dear. Faranth. Kid needed some help didn't he? Sadly, K'sel felt via some weird brother-in-lawish rule, that he actually had to and added onto his sentence, "Very healthy, very spunky. I've been hoping to see a litter around. Erilena told me I could have one of her brood if Harper was ever bred, but it seems so far off that just hearing there are puppies means that I have to look at them and play for a minute if nothing else. How many of them are spoken for?"
The latter was asked mostly for Ae'on's sake - getting straight to the question the bluerider was probably looking for. All the while he was, being unusually friendly, and not at all as harsh as the rider tended to be, but then that was easy when he had the motivation to. K'sel threw his brown eyes back towards the puppies, hoping that one of them would bounce over to him, it was a very dragonrider habit. Dragons, firelizards... they picked their people, and urban legend said that canines did the same even if they didn't formally Impress so to speak.

Both E'iah and Kaegan raised a hand in greeting as Ae'on arrived though the latter muffled a small chuckle at the younger man and his Salamandyr. But it was E'iah who actually spoke up to respond to the Healer. "Thanks. They've all been given the a-okay by the beasthealers here." Smiling, he was about to continue when two more people appeared, though one seemed to break off to stand with the Bluerider who had accompanied them down to the stables. In fact he was about to answer the Bronzerider when K'sel arrived, he glanced at the Weyrwoman who took that as a signal to jump in. He chose to respond to K'sel.
"Oh yeah, Eri has a puppy doesn't she? I've almost completely forgotten, Rishin's played with 'em a few times for socialization. Well everyone is welcome to come amidst the swarm for a little while and play with the puppies, though I ask that it only be two at a time, since there'll be even less room then. And only this guy is spoken for." He held up a tan and black puppy with ears folded at their tips before letting him go back to playing with his littermate. "Why don't you and Ae'on come in first? I'm sure I can help find each of you the right puppy."
Speaking of puppies, #3 had finally been let go by his mother and is now wondering amiably toward E'iah and the open stable door, while #5 has given up play attacking his sire and has now joined #1 and #4 in wrestling.
---- "Ce'thian, hello. I'm sure you'll be able to find a keeper amongst these little ones. It really is rather a first come first serve thing with litters." Kaegan said, talking almost at the same time E'iah had, though their separate conversations were easily followed. Smiling she let her eyes flicker from one face to another, happy that a few people were actually coming to see the puppies. It had been a complete shock to her when she found out that Soleil had been the father of the litter. Look away for one second and you get a batch of puppies!
---
Bumping A'emi back as the Greenrider settled in next to him, K'thay crossed his arms and rested against the stable's divider. "Yeah I decided. See the one the kid is holding up? The long legged tan one? Yep, that's him." Shifting slightly so he could watch his puppy play better, he continued. "Well Casti was never not okay with it. It was just my whole thing about not getting pets cause they can be a weakness. Northern gabble and stuff like that is hard to get rid of. But I decided that a Canine would be a lot nicer on the nerves than a flit or a mandyr. I still think they're little spies, no offense to your steadily increasing hoard of them."

Minus the answer to his unspoken question about the puppies' health, Ae'on disregarded the others who had also come to see the animals. Yes, he even largely ignored K'sel beyond a greeting nod if the brownrider looked his way. He still didn't really approve of him for his sister - probably never would approve of anyone for her, really. Comes with the brother territory in his opinion - but he'd given up hoping they would just naturally fall apart. Nephele was pregnant now, presumably with his kid, and she'd hinted at an older history with the rider.
Really he didn't pay attention again until E'iah said his name and he looked at the bluerider curiously for a moment while he replayed the conversation. Oh. Ohhh. That he could do. And hey, problem solved of asking for one. Apparently they were free. What did I tell you? Yeah, yeah, shut up. I don't need your smug, thick-hided arse giving me the 'I told you so' speech. The bluerider stepped into the stall with little hesitation after the invitation.
Ae'on glanced around the stall itself for the first time and noticed the toys strewn about with a slight upward quirk of his lips. He grabbed one to entice a puppy with - and hey, this was becoming strangely reminiscent of firelizard and salamandyr hatchings in that respect - and moved towards puppies 2 and 6 slowly, half crouched. "Do you know what sex (Sex!) they are?" He wasn't entirely sure if he wanted a male or female...or if he even care about the dog's gender.
The bluerider wiggled the toy at the two puppies, well aware that the one was spoken for already. The other one wasn't, though. The black sploches on that one kind of amused him. Besides, they looked energetic and that actually wasn't a bad thing in a dog.

He wanted to bounce a little bit... but this was K'sel. He was willing to nod a thanks and conjure up some sort of etiquette that he had learned from his childhood. For the past five turns or so he had been drawing mostly blanks on how to proceed, but then there wasn't all that much motivation in most of those situations. He was attempting not to piss anyone off until he had his own little mutt, so it was all smiles when he said, "Oh, don't mind if I do..." and after Ae'on, stepped into the stall, half aware of any unwanted messes there in the stall waiting for him to step in. Scratching his own shaggy hair, he turned his attentions to the gaggle of puppies tied up on a big ball of dog on dog wrestling. How cute.
K'sel knew he wanted something... tenacious for a lack of a better word. Sure, it would be a hell of a dog to train, but if he couldn't wrestle with his canine or pal around with it then he wasn't exactly sure what he was going to do with one. So while the bluerider waggled a toy around, K'sel probably bought himself zero brownie points with his weyrmate's brother by crouching down again and making some smooching sounds to hopefully pique the ears and the interests of either pup 1, 4, or 5. He was clearly put one second away from crawling around on all fours and taking the risk that the whole lot of them envelope him in a mass of wagging tails, gnawing milk teeth, and slobber. Bring it.

A small, golden haired head appeared around a corner of the stable. She glanced around a little shyly, but her hesitations instantly vanished at what she saw. "Puppies!!" Annatolli exclaimed with joy. She darted forward, ducking past E'iah to hug the nearest puppy (#3) around the neck. She beamed up at the young man hopefully. "Can I play with them? Can I?" Of course, she would love to have one of her own, but Auntie Mae probably wouldn't let her. Maybe if she promised to take care of it herself...
Xelos appeared then, spinning through the air as he did a few flips and dives. With a flourish, he landed in front of his mistress. Was he not wonderful? His mistress always thought so, even if no one else did. "Hi Xelos!" Anna patted him fondly. "Do you like puppies?" Xelos squawked, suddenly noticing the fuzzy creatures surrounded him. He raised his nose and balanced on one leg. Did puppies like tricks? He liked anyone who liked his tricks!

Yes, listen to goldilocks’ human, Sparath rumbled into his mind, apparently physically incapable of not adding his two cents when there was an opportunity to be snide, If you want a puppy you may as well be greedy and claim dibs before some grubby-pawed little humanling comes along and snatches them all up…remember to get a male Minething, I don’t mind one hairball in the weyr but when there gets to be six mini hairballs rolling in all directions that’s when you’ll trip and hurt yourself and that’s such a downer don’t you think?
Which, yes. That would indeed be ‘a downer’.
Ce’thian flashed a grin at Kaegan, stepping out of the way so that the younger men who had shown up could get inside the stall and leaning against the stall partition to look inside at the puppies. “Well in that case I’m pleased I got here on time,” not that it looked like many more people were coming anyway, except for one little girl—maybe they were just slow. He glanced over them, trying to pick out if there was a particular one he liked. Probably should figure out the sex thing though, he really didn’t want a litter of puppies any more than Sparath did.
Fortunately the kid that had come before him had the same question, which relegated Ce’thian to the role of obvious eavesdropper. He tilted his head towards Kaegan, adding a little absently, “Are you here to lay claim to one of them, or d’you own the parent…s? I figured that they belonged to…” The kid. Whose name he actually didn’t know. “Him?” Hmm. Yes, ‘him,’ that was smooth.
*
“Ha, well, ’s not like I aimed to Impress either of ’em, so what can I say…if they want to love me, it’s not like I’m gonna deny them.” Cheeky grin, as A’emi pulled himself up to sit on top of a stall door after a check to make sure that the stall itself was suitably lacking in a runner who might potentially get offended by someone commandeering their door for the sake of their butt. “And I like him, he looks like he’s like…ninety percent leg. Cute.” A glance at Ae’on and the bronzerider and hey, a K’sel, who evidently favored puppies over him.
(Not that he blamed K’sel because puppies.)
A’emi indulgently flicked the brownrider off anyway, discreetly low and suitably brief to ensure that nobody other than K’thay would see the gesture, unless they managed to time it just right. “So,” he added to K’thay, “Got a name yet, or is Titania going to have to come sweeping in with Shakespearean names?” Like Oberon, because Titania did not know the definition of shame.

Vellani love? The blonde girl was laying in her bed. Ever since Sammy's death, she had felt numb. It wasn't nearly as bad as it would have been if Gwen had died, but the absence of the little flit's presence in her mind and the shock of his death had been enough to leave her in a shocked state for a few days. And it wasn't as if the death was getting in the way of her life. She still went to lessons, albeit a bit quieter. It was when she was alone with her dragon that she let anything slip. " Yes?" The blonde said into the darkness of the barracks, perking up at the dragon's mind voice. There's something going on at the stables; something you might want to see.
The young dragon knew that Vellani was hurting. She knew that a puppy wouldn't be the same, but it might start to fill the hole that the girl had in her heart. Unfortunately, Vellani wasn't having any of it. " I don't really feel like it. You can go" Gwen wasn't quite ready to let her rider wallow in whatever she was feeling over a little firelizard. Get up and let's go. This will make you feel better, and I'm not going to let you lay here like a log. The little green padded over and pushed the girl, almost straight out of the bed. Vellani glared at the dragon, but knew that she wasn't going to give up into she did something. " Fine. But I'm not going to stay long."
Good. The dragon practically purred, whipping her tail back and forth while Vellani got ready to go. Her roomate wasn't around, so she was able to get dressed without worrying about waking anyone up. Once she was ready, the green dragon hustled the girl out of the door, all the way to the stables. Vellani eyed the gathering group of people, but just shook her head. " What's going on?" Just go see. Gwen said, staying back as her rider reluctantly worked her way through some people, to eye the babies. " Puppies?" She said quietly, to no one in particular.
Vellani loved puppies. Crouching down, she reached out a hand to scratch one of the tumbling puppies' heads (Number 1). She wanted to cuddle it, but it was too busy tumbling with its siblings. A smile broke out across her face.
Olivia had been at the stables already, doing chores when the puppies had been brought in. Pippin had been asleep near the door and perked up when he scented the other dogs. Wary and confused, he had kept away, but patting Impala where she lay on a pile of rags, Olivia had dropped what she was doing and crept up on the puppies, her eyes wide. Merry was settled on the rags next to the green firelizard, also watching the puppies with interest. What were these new things? did they like to play? Prodding Impala with his beak, Merry ruffled his feathers and squaked.
Finally gathering the courage to approach, Olivia did, grinning widely and sitting down near Anna, petting the pup the girl was holding. " It's sooooo cute! Is it yours?" She said, hardly able to contain herself. Snorting, Pippin rose from where he was laying and nosed his way past some people to stand next to Olivia. Watching the puppies warily, he whined and nearly shoved his way into Olivia's lap, sprawling out over the girl posessively. He didn't growl at the puppies though. Instead, he nosed one lightly, sniffing it a little. They were cute, but they needed to stay away from his girl, she had enough pets. And he was her favorite dog anyway. Olivia couldn't sense the dog's jealousy and giggled. " Pip, you great oaf, you're too big to be laying on be."

"Sure do. The fluffy white one there," He pointed at #1 but made sure he his voice was loud enough for everyone to hear, "That one's a female. The spotty one you have there, is female too. But all the rest of them are males." Lifting a hand, E'iah happily started to pet Rishin who had crawled over to him with a small whine. She wasn't terribly comfortable with so many humans around. "What kind of puppy are you looking for? Like, one that has a lot of energy or maybe one that's a little less like a ball of pure excitement?" This was said to Ae'on, but most of his attention was stolen by a young girl with bouncy blond hair who had just appeared out of no-where. "Sure, you can play with the puppies, as long as you play gentle." Soon enough another young girl appeared to join the first, though he wasn't surprised, since puppies and kittens always drew in the littles.
As soon as K'sel crouched down, puppy #1 went straight for his shoes. Leaping onto said shoes, she immediately began chewing and pulling on the laces, growling playfully as she started a one way tug of war.
The toy that Ae'on was offering? Yeah, both puppy #2 and #6 immediately went for it, each grabbing an end, leaving the middle for the healer to hold on to. Each puppy tried to pull it in a different direction.
Puppy #3 squeaked when it was grabbed into a hug but proceeded to wash the girl's face with his tongue, then squirm out of her grasp to flop down between the little girl and his mother. Ending up back where he started.
Puppies #4 and 5, having been left by their sister wagged their tails at each other before #5 leaped onto 4 and began washing him. Well almost washing. Most of it was nomming on his ears...
As soon as Pippin appeared, Soleil's ears went back and a growl started deep in his throat. Another male around his pups was not welcome. This would be his only warning to back off, the Husky was not forgiving when it came to boundries. Icey blue eyes focused on the other male who looked suprisingly like his current mate, muscles tensing slightly incase he needed to warn the other back out the stable entrance a little more aggressively. The other male could be in the vacinity, but not that close to his pups.
--- ---
"Oh no no. No matter how much Kai wanted a puppy, I'm not taking one permanently. They were in our weyr for a few days." Freeing a hand, the Weyrwoman pointed down at one of the adult canines in the stall. "Soleil, the black and white one, is mine and Kai's. He's the father. Rishin belongs to E'iah, so he's kind of taken over the whole raising them to adoptable age." Propping her head on her hand, she glanced around at the puppies. "Soleil." Her voice was full of warning, vocalized in such a way so it held the weight of a command. Soleil's growling quieted a little but it remained in the background.
---
"Yeah, he looks like he'll be the tallest of the pups. I mean with so much leg he has to be tall." He snorted slightly at A'emi as he flashed a love sign toward one of the guys. "I haven't decided yet, but Titania is not allowed to name him. Some of her names are... fanciful." Stretching out his back, he yawned before settling back into his original position. "I was thinking... Loki or Ajani... or Venari. I like the 'E' sound."

Ah, female. Which meant that if he wanted the splotched puppy he ran the risk of raising some puppies himself eventually. Considering the turn out for this litter he doubted he'd be stuck with any of them permanently if it did happen. Not to mention the fact that he could just keep her inside when she was in heat. So, okay, gender officially didn't matter in his mind. When E'iah asked him what kind he wanted her hummed softly under the noise of puppies and people talking. It was probably a good thing the other rider's attention was stolen so he could consider his answer.
When E'iah was ready to hear his answer Ae'on shrugged and told him, "As long as it isn't a hyperactive nutball I don't mind an energetic pup." As evidenced by the fact that a smile was slowly growing more prominent on his face as he wiggled the toy both puppies were currently tugging on. He ended up kneeling carefully on the ground, pulling the toy towards him in little bursts, trying to get the little female closer to him so he could give her a few pets or somesuch. See how she reacted to him personally.

Rulilove.
Yes?
You are needed in the stables. Right now.
Oh am I? This doesn't have anything to do with the puppies, does it? Ruliana asked with a bit of a smirk. Oh yes she'd heard about the puppies from her neice and nephew - somehow it seemed all the children in the Weyr knew about the puppies. So the announcement about them being ready for homes did not really surprise her, or intruige her either. What would she do with a canine? Especially a young one. She would have to train it and they took so much time to care for when they were babies, - Rulilove took time to care for me when I was young! Rulilove did such a good job. A little canine would be no problem for Rulilove. Amalath broke into Ruliana's thoughts to add her two cents.
Even Poe seemed to perk up a bit as he picked up on the mental conversation between rider and dragon. A soft croon came from the usually stoic and silent firelizard as he looked to his owner from his perch on her desk. Giving a sigh of defeat Ruliana stood up and grabbed her jacket, an act which brought forth a burst of giddiness from Amalath on the ledge. Slipping out she made quick work of mounting the green and rubbing her side, "No promises I will bring one home. I am just going to see what they look like, I'm still not sold on wanting one."
That was good enough for Amalath it seemed as her eyes swirled bright green with a tinge of blue to them. Taking off it took the green practically no time to get her rider to the stables. Landing gently a decent distance away she let Ruliana dismount and then took off once she was clear, I will meet you back at the weyr Rulilove, you cannot ride with a little canine in tow. - Amalath had apparently decided that Ruliana was indeed going to want, and get, a puppy. A quick roll of her eyes and a chuckle and then Ruliana made her way into the stables.
It didn't take long to figure out which stall the puppies were in as the small crowd gathering was a dead give away. Coming up behind the others she peered over shoulders and around people to get a good look at the puppies as they played. A tight smile pulled at her lips as she eyed each one in turn - well she had to admit they were quite cute. Didn't mean she wanted one just yet though. The smile pulled more when she saw puppy #1 playing with K'sel's show laces. Eyes flicked towards more movement and she saw that puppies #2 and #6 were playing tug of war with eachother and Ae'on in the middle of it. A pair of them were sitting together, #4 and #5,it seemed #5 was a bit more energetic than the other though. And then she saw #3 as it was being set back down after being hugged up by a child. Hm. Alright, alright. They were all damned cute - but far too energetic for her taste.
Just watch and think Rulilove! Amalath pleaded, and Ruliana sighed a bit inwardly. Why in all of Pern her green wanted her to get a puppy was beyond her. Its not as if Amalath could play with it or it could speak to her.
Still Ruliana stood there watching, nodding about to people if they noticed her but otherwise keeping quiet and to herself. Most of the crowd seemed to be men - did all men get so goofy when presented with babies of any species? - and she didn't feel overly comfortable surrounded by them, regardless if they had noticed her or not.
((So I didn't technically apply for Ruliana to get a puppy, I applied with Roselle. But what would a weyrling do with a puppy, really? And Ruliana needed to stretch out. Soooo, if she gets one yay! If not I won't sulk. Though Amalath might. lol))

Annatolli giggled loudly as the puppy licked her, but freely let it go when it wanted. She waved at it, a little sorry it hadn't stayed longer, then beamed at Olivia. "Oh no," she admitted a little sadly. She grinned with excitement. "But maybe I can convince Auntie Mae to let me have one!" she suggested. It might not work, but surly no one could deny they were so cute. Anna frowned a little as she thought to herself. "I could take care of it, couldn't I?" She didn't know much about puppies, but could it be much harder than Xelos?
Glancing up at E'iah too, Anna nodded vigorously. "I will!" she agreed. She would never want to hurt the darlings. Seeing that some of the puppies seemed to like toys, Anna found one made of rope and clothe. She inched closer to two of them (#4 and #5) and waved the toy for them. "Want to play?" she asked hopefully.

If the brownrider felt somewhat bad for the girl - Vellani, who was reaching down to pet the puppy before she was virtually denied - he definitely didn't let it show. Too slow... I win... he drawled to himself as he braced himself from puppy number 1 to come his way.
Somewhere, at the same time word floated around that the puppy bounding towards him was a girl, but it wasn't like that really registered with him. K'sel still instinctively called all canines buddy.... because that is exactly what he wanted and expected them to become to him. It looked like this one was becoming quite the candidate for filling that role though as he laughed - yes genuinely laughed - at the puppy chewing at his shoe laces. Just like Harper apparently... maybe there was just something especially tasty about his shoes. Not that he really minded, he just knew if it kept up he'd be investing in a whole lot more shoe laces.
In return to the pup he made some playful growly noises, as he gently tugged his boot back just a little bit in feigned resistance. Less than even a moment later he had his hands out to scratch the critter behind the ears and coo to it, as best as he knew how... he had to practice his "sweet" voice for the baby after all, and as rumbly and bored he sounded when he talked, he couldn't imagine holding anything's attention for too long much less creatures in their youth, "Hey Rascal, what'chu think you're doin' with my shoes huh? I paid a whole half mark for these bad boys." Leaning in to chance his face getting licked, he turned back to E'iah, "Know anything about this one? Other than its spotted and furry? I'd like to associate with animals that don't have cosmic mental connections and downright deceives me..."
Like Mojo. Not that the bluerider would know what he was referencing, but it should be clear enough that he didn't want anything that was too smart for it's own good.
