Rosanna was organizing the Records Room. Somebody was going to die. The apprentice weaver had made the mistake of getting her other chores done early, since the Weyr worked her like a drudge(Wastelanders) and treated her like a drudge(Wastelanders) simply for one small little 'accident', small, mind, very small. It wasn't even the 'accident' with Z'ves that had got her in trouble, no, her trail there was hopefully very, very cold for the rider and he would never find her. Ever. No, it was simply 'accidentally' dumping a tray of food on a rider who was apparently bad mouthing the rebels, saying how the Wastelanders would find them soon enough and eradicate them after all, they had already gotten a few at the last Gather hadn't they?
Tip goes the tray.
Few candlemarks later and here she was! In the Records room being smothered, practically literally smothered by dust. Granted, some of the Records were rather interesting. Some were from the old abandoned Weyrs, back on the North continent.
And so sorting the Records had turned into reading the records. Rosa's gray eyes scanned the worn pages carefully, her hands gingerly holding the precious page even as her brows furrowed in concentration. Lips pursed, occasionally moving with the words on the page as she read, mahogany hair pushed back with a tie, the rest of the long mass in a rather messy bun that rested on her neck. She wore a simply tank top, shorts that reached her knees and at the moment her shoes rested near the door. Oh and she was covered in dust.
What a wonderful way to walk in on a candidate supposedly being punished, basking in the soft glow light. Yes, very wonderful.

"Nice to know someone appreciates these old things." The Records Room was not a typical place for Farryl, given her background. She was here now mostly because she had hoped it would be empty around this time and she could find some privacy. Usually she spent much of her time in her weyr, but today it had just seemed too stuffy. Maybe a walk would help her accept that Wastelanders were here and being a grouch wasn't helping. Besides, Ur'h wasn't too bad once she got to know him.
"You're one of the candidates, right?" Farryl gave a small smile, almost like she wasn't used to it anymore. To think that just a few years ago she'd been here with R'wign and M'ta, trying to get Checkoth unstuck from the door. Now R'wign was gone too, just like so many others. Farryl berated herself in her mind. Candidates didn't need to hear all that, after all.

The teen jumped, the record she was currently holding nearly slipping through her fingers before she managed to snag it. Which of course set the dust going again, causing the teen to cough briefly even as she hurried to her feet, turning to the rider(she was a rider right?) and hurrying to calm herself. Well, she managed her facial features alright though the panic still raced briefly through her gray eyes, but her heart was still pounding a mile a minute. Was this rider a Wastelander? She didn't know. She should really work on learning faces instead of just focusing on the Wastelanders from the hatching. Faranth knows she knew Z'ves face and voice(Shards even his walk sent her scrambling for cover sometimes), that she saw it when it wasn't there, the voice right along side it. But no, this rider didn't look threatening. Stilling her panic, the teen tilted her head up slightly and nodded.
"I'm candidate Rosanna." she replied, eyes narrowing slightly at the smile that seemed a little rusty. But then again, whose smile wasn't? The only reason Rosanna's smile wasn't was because she had victims to laugh and giggle at, her little retribution to the riders called Wastelanders. "I was at the last Hatching, that was my first."
For a moment, at the mention of the previous hatching, pure unbridled rage filled the gray depths and one of the hands at her side convulsed slightly around the record before the teen remembered that the precious document in her hand was unrepairable, the hand immediately relaxed and Rosa was the picture of serene calm once more, not even panic fluttered within the depths of the fire lurking within the golden flecks.

"Ah." Farryl's face darkened into a mixture of sorrow and anger at the memories of the doom hatchlings and their bonded. It was one of the few times she could honestly remember Peppeth getting angry. At least her little green was still alive to be angry. Nearly everyone else they knew was dead. Now with her new friendship with Ykkith, Farryl worried that if it ever came to blows, Peppeth would loose yet another one she loved. Hobbs appeared at this point, blessedly without the other members of Farryl's mixed up family, and curled around his owner's neck.
Farryl stroked the blue fire lizard, relaxing at his presence. "I'm glad not everyone gave up after that," she continued honestly. Though she could hardly say whether Rosanna's choice was right or wrong. It would all depend on the next Hatching and how soon the war came. At least this girl seemed to have plenty of spirit. She would need it. "Farryl of green Peppeth," Farryl offered her hand to shake, hoping to bring talk back to more pleasant matters. "The little one is Hobbs."

The teen snorted as the rider mentioned those who had run, sending up a small cloud of dust as she did. Cowards, that's all they were. Cowards. When the rider introduced herself, Rosanna took her had when it was offered.
"Sorry about the dust," Rosanna stated with a small grin as she took her hand away a moment later, leaving dust on the rider's hand, "It's nice to meet you. Peppeth is well?" At least she could remember manners even if she was Holdbred. Besides, dragons are just as intelligiant aand feeling as humans, it was only common sense. Rosanna wiggled her fingers slightly at the blue lizard in greeting, breathcatcing in her throat only a moment as a brief longing for such a pet stabbed through her. It would make pranks so much easier.
