It was late ... the sun had gone down and now it was time to sit back and relax. Reclined in his office and browsing over a set of parchments (more of which were all over his desk), Emoyan had his feet up on the corner of the desk. Also on the desk was a flask of wine... the first he'd allowed himself since that binge directly after Kindrith's death. Things were stabilizing, maybe getting back to normal. So now he was trusting himself with wine again ... but just a little bit. He had always liked wine. For right now, it was being ignored.
Emoyan glanced out the dark window, sighed, and dropped the parchments back onto the desk. It could wait until tomorrow ... breaking his mind over this mess wasn't going to get him anywhere. Nor would it benifit anyone at all. He looked over at Rascal, perched upon a shelf, snoozing. Beside him was Voyager, carefully watching over Skink ... who mercifully was also asleep finally. She'd been chattering nonstop ever since she'd gotten back from visiting Sylph again. Emoyan couldn't help but think that R'ahre was teaching them bad things ... as if they weren't bad enough already!
For a moment he just looked around the room. Over in the back corner stood his gilded floor harp ... why he'd gone and bought something that gaudy he had no idea. But now he had it. And he hadn't even ever used it yet. Beside it stood the pair of drums. His gitar was in his quarters, instead of here ... mostly cause it was his favorite trusty instrument. Over on the other near corner of his desk (where his boots weren't) was his lapharp. He barely resisted the impulsive urge to reach over and take it up. Play it.
But no ... it was time to turn in. Taking his boots off the desk, he sat up straight in the chair and reapplied the lid to the flask sitting on the desk. The cup next to it he emptied with a swallow, and set that aside, as well. Next came the task of straightening all those parchments all over the desk... and then he could go to bed.

Roivao took a deep breath, rehearsing his words once again. He wasn't sure why this made him so nervous. He was getting better at talking to people everyday. He'd even had a full conversation with Piden and they had barely met. It's shouldn't bother him anymore, but it was hard to change. After two years of talking to no one but the ghosts in his mind, it was an effort to open up to people. Roisk waited outside, as calm and steadfast as ever. Roi would have like his wher to come with him, but the bronze was now far too big for most buildings. Tiida hide in his shirt as usual, but he had no doubt she would offer comments if she felt like it.
With a sigh, Roi tapped gently on Emoyan's door. He hoped the Candidate Master was still awake. It was hard to meet someone when then ran on different clocks. "Excuse me?" he offered in a nervous voice. "I hope I'm not disturbing you. I just had some questions." It was quite a lot of words for him. Maybe he was getting better at this. Roisk rumbled encouragement in his mind and he felt a little more confident. It wasn't like Emoyan was going to scold him like one of his students, right?

Emoyan looked up at the sound of tapping on his door, straightening somewhat. "Oh, hello." He greeted, amiably. "No, you're not disturbing me." He gestured at one of the other chairs in the room, inviting the handler in to sit. "What's on your mind?" Emoyan asked, tapping a handful of parchments edge on the desk, getting them to all line up. He was somewhat surprised to see him ... he didn't know the fellow, nor did he but barely know who he was. A handler, that was about it.
Why would a handler come to question him? And about what? Granted, he expected some interaction between himself and the handlers, but not really on the questioning side. He was, after all, teaching more than just future dragonriders ... he had under his wing the future handlers, too.
Remembering himself, Emoyan set the parchments aside. "Would you like some wine? I've got some left..." he offered, noting that this fellow seemed a little nervous. "I won't bite." He offered, with a reassuring smile.

Roivao nodded politely as he sank into the chair. He didn't usually drink much, but mabye a little wine would help him relax. Emoyan was nice so far and at least he hadn't been sleeping. It looked like he had probably been up doing paper work. Roi studied Emoyan more closely. It was the first time he had met the man in person, but he had heard of him. He had lost his dragon in the Siege. For a dragonless like himself, the many seemed to be doing rather well. Roi wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing. Living without one's dragon wasn't a fate he would wish on anyone. But he couldn't say he was sorry to be alive anymore. Not with Roisk around.
Roi took another deep breath and decided to get right to the point. "They've just made me Wherling Master," he explained. He couldn't fathom why. True he was older than most of the others and he did have combat experience and training, but did they really expected wherlings to listen to someone so timid? One thing at a time, he told himself. He didn't even have a class and he was already worrying. "I was wondering if I could set up a time to meet with your candidates? I thought maybe if they met a wher close up, they might be more interested in standing." He wasn't sure if he needed Emoyan's permission to do that, but it would be wise to be on good terms with him.

Emoyan poured a helping of wine, and passed it over to Roi, with a nod, before sitting back in his own chair, screwing the lid back onto the wine flask ... if he left it open he was liable to have another helping out of it, himself. Which, truth be told, he really didn't need. As tastey as it was. He listened in silence as Roi made his halting beginning for the reasons to his appearance.
He nodded approvingly. "Congratulations on your assignment ... I hope things go well for you. I know some of those youths can seriously be a challenge for the handling." He said. "Don't let them get you down, though. There are good ones in the lot." Emoyan remarked, with a small smile.
"As for a meeting ... that would be good. I have a few that are already interested in whers, but some others may get interested, as well, for it. It's an excellent idea. I can let them all know, and try to prod as many as I can into attending. Seeing how it would naturally have to be after curfew ... likely many will jump at the chance to be up and about later than normal." He grinned slightly, before shrugging. "When would you want to do this? Soon, I reckon?"
Skink lifted her head, and blinked at Roi, before making a small 'meep' sound. She promptly tucked her head back down into her own array of limbs, going back to sleep. Voyager relaxed, seeing that, having tensed up when she'd lifted her head. Phew... he didn't have to jump on her and hold her down!
