The bronze was ready when the queen fell to him, despite her cry to another male. Crying out his passion to the sky, Rath twined with her... And his rider moved to Kaegan/Millieth on the ground, twining with her as well, and well pleased...
[]
R'non awoke, pleasantly sore, and feeling far more content than he had for many, many Turns. The memories of the Flight came flooding back to the man, and he winced. Did you really have to do that, Rath? he asked, irked once again, though he flipped to the side to caress Kaegan with his eyes. Beautiful queenrider... It was a gamble I could not resist. Her Call was too strong, and I have not Flown in memory's span, Rath responded, quite pleased with himself. R'non sighed, softly. This would start a whole new mess in his life... there was no way any sane dragonrider would just let a rider from Benden, especially a bronzerider who had killed so many, just waltz in and live with them. They could never see him as more than a murderer, of that R'non was certain. It was why he had hidden for so long... a charade he could no longer play. It was live as a rider of Selenitas, now, if they would let him, or... flee. Flee into the wilds of the South, and live without even the company of humans for the rest of his life.
It was not a pleasant choice.
Yet, he waited for Kaegan to awaken, steeling himself for the inevitable questions and the defense he would have to conduct. Even here, he still thought only in terms of combat. Perhaps it was a habit he should break. (I moved it here :3)

... Large red wings spread out above her as she awoke from the sleep she had passed into, and while the dragon was waking, she began to look for her rider. It took only a few moments to locate the blonde female, she was sitting in her favorite spot near the tree that grew out from the rock. Snaking her neck over to the reading woman, Kaegan crooned slightly to attract her Mine's attention. /Milliethmine.../ Purring as the female's many faceted eyes turned to look upon her form, the Red Dragon was confused by the words that were said in response. "Its time for you to wake up." /Wake up? I am awake... Why w--/ "Be a good cub and wake up. I would really like you too."
Arching her back like the feline that she had been compared to in her dream, the Junior Weyrwoman felt her back rub softly against something warm and soft. Normally, the fact there was someone sharing her furs would cause her to become afraid, but the feelings that the Golden flight had etched into her were still somewhat there. Pushing gently back into the man whose dragon had caught Millieth, Kaegan flexed her arms and hands while bringing them down the sheets slightly. She felt emboldened by these unfamiliar feelings that ebbed at her consciousness, but at the moment, she was to tired to strike up a conversation. Sighing pleasantly to herself the young woman let a sense of relaxation ripple over her body, although as the memories of the flight trickled back into her mind, she couldn't help but feel a little guilty. One of the reasons she had never actively searched out someone to love was the memory of J'em, the man who she had really fallen for in her weyrling days. No matter how much she wanted to think about the Brownpair, she knew that now wasn't the best time to do so.
Stretching her arms above her head in a yawn, Kaegan flipped herself onto her back before placing her arm across her eyes, blocking out the light that filtered through the smallest crack in the curtains. /Kaeganmine./ /Hmmm?/ /The Bronzemales we flew.../ /Uhuh?/ /Well. They're from Benden, but they aren't 'them'./ Silence settled over the Weyrwoman as she tensed slightly, her brain did not want to accept the fact that she had just spent the night with a Benden rider, and a Bronze one to boot. Fear and comfort battled for foothold in her chest, mind and body, neither of the two giving the other any leeway. Had she just given the Junior Weyrleadership to a Benden dog? Or was he in fact, more like her beloved J'em than the man she hated with a passion that could possibly burn like a thousand suns? Finally the battle within her settled, and as the dust cleared, the two emotions had destroyed themselves to leave a sense of unease in their place.
Clenching her jaw slightly as she formed a question on the tip of her tongue, Kaegan didn't move her arm away from her eyes as she finally let loose the first question. "Name?" It was more a word than a full fledged question, but at least it would give her a basis to work off of. If he came from Benden, and was there around the time she was, the Goldrider would know the story behind his name.

R'non closed his eyes as Kaegan began to awaken, a spasmotic reflex rather than distaste. He didn't quite know how to handle the mess that Rath had thrown him in, but his first look at it was Kaegan. Hopefully Selenitas wouldn't just expel him, given that he was the new Junior Weyrleader, but that position was uncertain at best, given that Millieth had wanted another, but failed to reach him. At least, that's the sense he got from Rath, who was all-too-pleased that he had been in the way of the faltering queen. Even if he was the accident, and not the Chosen. He opened his eyes in time to see her tense up and her jaw clench. No doubt she'd just been informed that a Benden bronze had Caught her dragon. Rath, what have you told her? he asked, steeling himself for the worst possible news. Only that I am named Rath, and that we left Benden, the dragon responded, surprised. R'non sighed. So the news was likely all over the Weyr already. Shards.
"Name?" Rude but not entirely unexpected. R'non huffed a breath out, a half-sigh.
"I am R'non, of bronze Rath." The name would hold a wealth of information for one who had been a queenrider at Benden--he remembered her, though Rath had never expressed any interest in the young queen before. Sharding bronze. Kaegan would surely know of him. One of the better fighters in the Weyr, R'non had flown attack-sweeps regularly and only rarely come back without victory. Though he had held no particular rank in the Weyr, he had been known as a fantastic fighter, in the air and on the ground, and when dangerous sweeps were set up, he was invariably selected to go out. But beyond that, he had never searched for any sort of higher rank, nor been overtly cruel. A fighter, yes, but one always in the background.
If she had paid attention to those around her at Selenitas, she might recognize her as the tinker-trader who had come to the Weyr some months ago, calling himself Ramanon Despori, and seemingly completely innocuous...
