Twisting her stubborn hair back into a bun, the girl began stabbing it with hairpins, not removing her hand from the back of her head until all of the pins were in place. / You should get that trimmed./ I really should. Its long now... I actually liked it shorter. /Well then do something about it, and don't remain so placid about it./ Yeah, thanks Millieth. It wasn't like she wasn't aware she had been putting off cutting her hair, and she really wanted to, but there was something holding her back. Whether it was the ties to a happier time, the fact it had been a security blanket, or both, she still had to puzzle out.
Prettybeautiful drop Dash wet? "No Dash, I'm not going to drop you in the water. Now come on honey." Watching as the Brown Mandyr paced back and forth just out of reach of the gentle waves, Kaegan motioned for him to jump to her, collecting him in her arms when he finally did so. "See Dash. I didn't drop you." Prettybeautiful drop before. "Yes well, I didn't drop you this time. You are perfectly fine." Yes. Finefinefine. The Mandyr's claws pricked her skin as he clung to her swimming shirt, he really didn't want to fall off. Wading farther into the ocean, the Junior Weyrwoman picked a low rock near the closest tide pool to sit on, letting the salt water wash over her legs and flow around her waist. /I like it out here Mine. Benden didn't have an ocean near it, and its secluded. I like the smell.../ Fond of it are you? /Yes. Have a problem with that Kaemine?/ No... no problem. Just happy that you have a place you like to go.
A short bout of giggling overcame Kaegan as her gold momentarily was caught off guard, and a wave of love radiated out from Millieth. "See Dash, big Goldy does love me." Nodding as the Brown Mandyr trilled happily, the Queenrider pursed her lips and whistled. "Azzie! Come take Dash." A loud pop over her left shoulder announced the arrival of her Firelizard. "Dash, I want to swim. Be nice and go with Azzie back to big Queeny." Backback. Dash nice, backgogo. Watching to make sure the Bronze held onto the Brown carefully, Kaegan waited until they were safely over the sand before lowering herself off of the rock. The two Males were nice enough on their own, but Kaegan tried not to leave them together without her supervision. Millieth couldn't always be trusted to watch the two, if Kaegan could find a way to keep her away from males, then she was perfectly fine with leaving Dash and Azaran in her charge.
Taking a deep breath, the Junior Weyrwoman submerged her head under the surface, breaching the water a few moments a later. The water was cold, a little cooler than Kaegan would have liked, but it was still refreshing for the most part. Placing her ear against the water, she floated silently, listening for any clicking or whistling. It was the time of year when Sea Dolphins swam through the area, according to the records of course... and sure enough, there they were, the trilling was faint but there.

Close your eyes, no peeking. One of the many things that Morendoth enjoyed doing to his rider, and one of the few things that I’fael actually tolerated, was taking the man to surprise locations. This afternoon it was the coast, a favorite of I’fael’s and a place he hadn’t been able to go to since he had taken up weyrlingmaster duties. Of course, lessons weren’t everyday and so this was the afternoon that Morendoth had planned for their excursion. It smells nice out here ‘Doth. Salty. At I’fael’s comment, the brown rumbled with amusement. Good, he still hadn’t guessed then, though soon enough the brownrider would be able to put two and two together. The brown was certain that I’fael would appreciate it considering that the man had been talking about it just the other day. When they were younger, the pair would often go there to relax and escape the hectic lifestyle of the weyr.
That’s odd… Morendoth had spied Millieth and Kaegan on the shore and was somewhat surprised to find them there. He hadn’t expected anyone else to be secluding themselves from the weyr at this time of the day. Most were busy doing something, or simply being sociable creatures. What’s odd? Where are we going? While the brown didn’t sound worried by whatever it was that was odd, I’fael was growing more and more curious. Wherever it was they were going, it had been here before. It smelled like the ocean, but why would Morendoth take him there? Usually the brown took him places that I’fael didn’t necessarily want to be at. Oh nothing important. I just hope you don’t mind some company.
With that, the brown began his descent, calling out a greeting to Millieth as he did so. I hope you do not mind our intrusion Millieth. My rider and I were simply hoping for a pleasant day at the beach. If our presence offends you, please feel free to let us know and we shall remove ourselves from your vicinity. While the brown was usually far less polite in addressing others, there was something about the young queen that caused him to tread lightly. Backwinging to a landing, the brown kept some distance between himself and the gold until she gave him permission to come closer. You may open your eyes now, he added to I’fael.
A smile spread as I’fael realized just where Morendoth had taken him to, though it fell slightly as he caught sight of Millieth. It wasn’t that he didn’t like Kaegan or the gold, but he certainly didn’t want to intrude on them. He remembered when the pair had first arrived from Benden and he didn’t think that Kaegan had yet fully recovered from the horrors there. Poor girl. He didn’t see her at first, though as he looked out toward sea, he spied her in the water. He raised an arm to wave in greeting, though was unsure as to whether she saw it. Perhaps, if she didn’t mind, he would join her in the water. It looked rather tempting indeed.

/Kaemine, don't do that, it makes me think there is something wrong. Its annoying./ Sorry... but I like listening to the Finned ones sing. Lifting her head out of the water with a sigh, the Goldrider latched onto her rock again, suddenly becoming fascinated with the algae and small barnacles that ha made the rock their home.
Waking from her half-doze when the sound of wing beats grew louder, Millieth quickly became alert, removing her head from her large forelegs. Eyes focusing in the direction of the source, the Queen flicked the tip of her tail anxiously, waiting to see who it was before warning her Mine. Being a Queen whose Rider and current Weyr were prone to attacks, Millieth had to be extra vigilant when the tell tail signs of wing beats came. Aslath's had been abducted from the coast many, many suns ago, and she wouldn't put it past Benden to try another abduction. Flaring her wings slightly, their tips parallel with the ground, the Golden Female carefully watched the Brown approach. A single Brown... not a Bronze, nor more than one of any other Color. Searching the Brown with her eyes before deciding if push came to shove she could probably deal him some damage, Millieth snapped her wings closed at the bugled greeting.
At least he was proper. Moving her head so that it followed his decent and landing, the larger Female crossed her wrists while tilting her head to the side, rather amused she could have considered the male a Benden spy. /You may stay, I have no problem sharing the Beach./ In fact Millieth rather liked Browns, they were conversational and she could always get information out of them. Bronzes were better to flirt with though... to bad this male wasn't shinier. Glancing over her back as she heard a trilling, the Queen narrowed her eyes and growled mentally at the Flitter and Mandyr, causing them to break up their scuffle and cower.
Inspecting a large seashell she had just retrieved from the seafloor, Kaegan didn't notice that another Dragonpair had landed until a wave of annoyance at two certain pets passed over her. Startled by the sight of the Brown, he had apparently arrived when she was preoccupied under the water, the young Weyrwoman directed her gaze to the Rider. He looked familiar, but she couldn't place his face to a name, and it seemed like Millieth had no problem with the Brown... so it wasn't a ghost from her past. Maybe she had just seen him out and about around the Weyr, it was possible since she /still/ hadn't met all of the Selenitas Riders. Shifting the shell to her left hand, Kaegan raised it meekly in response to the other Rider's wave.

It is nice to see that you have no problems sharing, Morendoth rumbled with amusement, his statement a referral to Aslath’s reaction to Salenth flying a green a few months back. While the brown would not have normally remembered, I’fael griped about the Senior goldpair’s poor actions often enough for them to remain in his mind. It is surprising to find you here alone. Males should flock to such a radiant creature, not ignore them. The brown’s flirtatious tone was light, meant more for amusement purposes than to be taken as anything serious. Still, when Millieth rose, he would chase. While I’fael might have a problem, Morendoth saw nothing wrong in his eyes. A female was a female was a female and once mature, they were all fair game. That was the man’s problem. He was limiting himself severely by refusing to look at the younger woman in anything other than a platonic light.
’Doth, she’s young enough to be my daughter, or a student. ‘s not right. The man grumped at the brown, who merely snorted with amusement. Go say a proper hello to Millieth’s. I’m sure she’d like the company. And please, try to have fun or else I’ll have wasted an entire afternoon. With that, the brown properly ignored I’fael, returning his full attention to Millieth. Have you been well? He asked the gold as he settled into the sand, wings unfurled to better soak up the sun.
Seeing as his dragon had abandoned him, I’fael had no choice but to approach the water where Kaegan currently was. Well, he supposed that he could simply ignore her, but that nagged at his conscience. He was too well-mannered to ignore one of the goldriders, no matter how much he may have liked to. Making his way down to the shore, he paused to remove his shirt before entering the ocean. His trousers would dry well enough, but he’d prefer to keep at least some of his clothing dry. Besides, he’d rather not expose himself indecently to Kaegan.
“Afternoon, Weyrwoman,” he called out as he waded into the water. “It seems as though my dragon has decided that it’s time for me to get out more. I hope you don’t mind us being here. Millieth didn’t seem to take offence, but if it bothers you, please tell me. I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.” He floated a distance away from the young woman, close enough for her to hear him over the waves, but far enough away so that she didn’t feel threatened. The last thing he wanted to do was scare her.

/As it should be! Though Mine gets uncomfortable when there are many human males around. So when we are together relaxing, she asks me to keep quiet about where we're going. Therefore, it proves to be a very boring time./ Snorting slightly, Millieth rubbed the side of her face on her legs before redirecting her gaze back upon Morendoth. /Though... its always nice when a handsome male or two chances upon us./ Tilting her head to the side, Millieth lowered her eyelids marginally as she inspected the Brown. /I suppose you'll do though./ The teasing tone in her mind voice was apparent, for Morendoth was a very handsome Brown indeed.
/I am doing fine. Bored because there is absolutely nothing to do but sunbathe and eat, but fine nonetheless./ Tracking the male's Rider's movements from the corner of her eye out of habit, Millieth flexed her claws as she stretched into a more comfortable position. Now that there was another Dragon sharing the beach, the Queen could relax, if something happened there would be two large, experienced (in their own ways) Dragons. /And yourself?/
--
"Um. Afternoon um..." /I'fael, Morendoth's. The new Weyrlingmasters./ "... Weyrlingmaster." Watching as he waded into the water, Kaegan listened to him speak, pretending to inspect her shell. So this was I'fael, the Brownrider who had replaced F'rah when he had to retire early? So far, he seemed nice enough, though he was an older gentleman. "I-I don't mind." At least he wasn't a Bronzerider, she would have a much harder time trying to not be nervous around him. Like her Dragon, the Weyrwoman liked Browns, their riders mostly tended to be mellow or easy-going. Like her J'em... no, she wouldn't start thinking about him, it would ruin her day.
Shaking her head free of any thoughts of the far gone, Benden Brownrider, Kaegan returned her gaze to the Weyrlingmaster. She didn't know what to say, or even if she should say anything. Maybe he wanted to be alone and swim peacefully? Or maybe he was expecting her to talk? Maybe he didn't care either way... "Weyrl-- I-I mean, Brownrider F'rah never seemed to have enough time in the day, when he was Weyrlingmaster. I suppose it would um... be the same with you, now that you have the classes."
