C'ryl could feel the labour Pagoth was putting into the flight from the shores to the north. They had been here for a few days so that the brown could adjust to the climate. Even though C'ryl had wanted to wait longer Pagoth had made it clear that they might as well get this whole deal done with. The sooner the better. Now the rider was beginning to feel the slightest pangs of regrets as they flew above the tree tops. Perhaps leaving Fort had been a poor decision.
So much for the afterthought.
Do not fret, bondmine, Selenitas has had trouble with Benden as well. We come peacefully.
"But they do not know us."
A deep rumble in Pagoth's throat was little reassurance as they grew closer to the Weyr. Soon a tower protruded from the water but as they neared it turned into a tree with a tower inside of it. The brown dragon back-winged and landed on the sandy shore across from the tree where no buildings were. We come peacefully. He said, hoping someone heard him.
As C'ryl slid off of his bond's back he landed in the sand on the shore. He put on a brave face and kept his hand in Pagoth's hide. They had made the decision to come here and escape the tragedy that was becoming Fort Weyr. If they could, they had also come to help in any way they were able.

Imp scrabbled madly at the riverbank, hoping that this time he’d be able to get out. Chasing his prettylove, and the subsequent struggle to stay airborne, which the salamandyr had lost most spectacularly, followed by a swim and struggle to get out the water at every point that looked remotely like he might be able to escape, so far, so bad. Bad Bit, bad Dar’a mine, bad A’ath. Big bad very bad. Tired I. Want out, want sleep, want treats. The bronze condemned everyone who belonged to him for not coming to fetch him, as he attempted escape. For all his efforts the salamandyr only ended up half flopped over the bank with his weight resting on his forelegs and his tail trailing around in the water. He repeated a few of the more colourful phrases Darya used to himself.
One of the giant ones flew past and landed nearby. Imp was totally elated, giant ones had their own humanpets, and a humanpet could pick him up and carry him, and give him food as well. Yes that would be good. Peacefully? What was that? Well if the giant brown wanted some… Peacefly good. Come help I! Want out, want out baaaaaaad! Outta here want! Come get I out! For small creatures salamandyrs could broadcast very loudly indeed and Imp was no exception. When no hand immediately came to scoop him up Imp huffed. Stupid not his humanpets. Stupid not A’ath giants. In water I is! Want out! Leeeemeeee ooooouuuut! Not tread! Tread bad at I. He added for the benefit of the stupids, if they couldn’t find him they might step on him too, he didn’t want that!

You had better come peacefully.
The words were followed by a low growl that was probably not audible to the brown dragon and His, given the distance, but that did not stop Tanith from expressing her dislike for the strange creature. The green dragon, soaring almost lazily back toward the weyr from a hunt with Hers, had spotted the intruder and was immediately on the defensive. At a quick command from the little woman on her back, the green gracefully flipped back over onto herself and barreled toward the ground, a streak of dark accelerated by gravity. At the last moment, broad wings snapped open, and Tanith backwinged to settle her little body on the sandy shore. The wings stayed partially unfurled, a sign of readiness to take flight again.
If he raises a hand at me, eat him.... Aliscia silently told her dragon, and Tanith hissed in acknowledgment, her tail lashing back and forth in agitation as Aliscia slid off her dragon's neck and stalked closer to the brownpair. The greenpair had landed close enough that Aliscia did not have to go far, but being even an arm's length from her dragon in the proximity of a strange man... Aliscia didn't like it. Halfway to the two males, Aliscia paused and let her gaze drift over the two. Short man. Well, compared to her, he was tall, but he was far shorter than most of the giants that the south seemed to raise. Small, fair skin, dark hair... and she couldn't see his eyes. The little woman snorted. That fairly reeked of Fort breeding, and she doubted that a Bendenite would have the nerve to crawl to Selenitas for sanctuary at the moment. Or... maybe he was just stupid.
Resuming her approach, Aliscia had to smile as she heard a huffing sound behind her. Tanith was coming closer too. Excellent. "How precious. He matches Tanith," she drawled, jerking her chin to gesture at the scar behind the brown's left eye. Behind her, Tanith made a startled noise and turned her own dark head, revealing a long, thin vertical mark from a long-ago injury. Strange. They did sort of match. "You're from Fort. What do you want?" It was largely a guess on her part, but no one would blame her for making assumptions. If her hand happened to rest on the hilt of the knife in its sheath on her belt, that was wholly understandable. She didn't trust the young stranger, and though she heard the irritating broadcast of one of those little 'salamandyr' things, her attention could not be diverted. She stayed standing out of the brownrider's reach, simply eyeing both him and the brown.
Tanith, however, was making a great show of ignoring the much-larger dragon on principle. She was more worried about His, after all. His would not allowed to touch Hers, or His would be eaten on the spot. The little green flicked her tail, tilting her scarred head to eye the little creature that was trying to get itself out of the water. Why did you get into the river? Stupid creature. Get out of there. The dragon took one hop closer, fixating one whirling eye on the creature. One forepaw was extended, a single claw poking very tentatively at the hapless salamandyr. Obnoxious, aren't you?

The pair stood in silence as they waited. Listening the the sounds of the world around them. C'ryl strained his hearing in a futile attempt to hear the approach of anything large. All that reached his ears was the splashing of something in the water. Upon looking down he found a small bronze fire lizard-type creature clinging the edge of the shore. The creature got more annoying the less attention that was paid to it, but as the northern rider began to take a step over to make a grab at it a green dragon dove in from above the tree tops.
As the dragon backwinged and landed Pagoth shifted his position to be more on the defensive. He mimicked the green's posture so as to be just as ready for sudden flight. The brown relayed the green's words to His but remained silent afterwords. At a time like this secrets between them about words would not work so well. The brownpair watched as the green's rider slid from her back.
The bonded of the green was small and shorter than C'ryl. He felt an almost tangible "no nonsense" aura from her and honestly felt rather uncomfortable. He observed three scars marking her smiling face and though normally that would go overlooked in a guess to a person's demeanor he could not overlook how they reacted to him simply standing there.
Her remark and the sound the green made, though, did make him chuckle. The scar the was revealed to rest near the green's eye look very similar to Pagoth's, only going vertical rather than horizontal. Huh, the green's name was Tanith...and they did match. The following words made C'ryl look at her with a more serious look.
"Yes, we are from Fort," he began, "We have come to help in any way that we can." Would they need help? Did they want it? "Possibly also to restart ourselves." ..and to escape... he added silently.
Do not give out too much, not yet are we recognized as refugees. Pagoth said to his bonded, shielding his words from Tanith. He ignored her as long as she ignored him though he did watch her actions with the creature on the shore. As long as His and Hers were speaking with civility there was no need for him to comment to His.

Imp looked up, his eyes showing bright teal shades of hope, as the giant’s humanpet started to move his way. Yes, good. Help I out. he encouraged the man, only to find that he was distracted by a second giant, a green one this time. Stupid not his humanpet, didn’t he know that Imp was tired and he wanted to get out right now? Was it somehow possible that Imp had failed to make himself quite clear on this point? He didn’t think so but you couldn’t really tell with humans. His eyes drifted over to confused shades.
The salamandyr sighed resignedly as the humans began talking, how was he going to get their attention now? Humans always took so long at their talking, even Darya, though his humanpet would have at least fished him out of the water first. And where was she anyway, he’d like to know, thank you so very much, if no one minded at all
The green giant came his way and reached out a forepaw. For a moment Imp thought he was saved but she only poked at him, making him slide back into the water a little, he didn’t dare let go to grab at the prodding talon either. Not mean go splosh. he answered rather sulkily. Want prettylove catch, Splosh go I. Not catch. Want out now pleaseplease giant greenlove pretty? Imp did his best to look impressive and handsome from his undignified position hanging onto the dirt of the river bank. Please would she fish him out now, or get her pet to?
