Piden and Pidesk were of the same mind. Of course, this was nothing new, but this time they were also determined. The Fort attack had only highlighted it: the Wherhandlers didn't know each other well enough to work together, especially when dragons wanted to boss them around. They just shut up and did as they were told, even if it put themselves (and others) in danger. Well, Piden corrected, the other handlers might know each other well enough for that, but he hardly knew any of them. Pretty much all of the Whers hatched with Pidesk had been lost over the years; as far as Piden knew, only one or two survived, and he never saw them. Having left Selenitas very shortly after finishing training, Piden had never really been close with those of his clutch, even if Pidesk had. Now, he supposed he could count Yoalla and Roi among his 'friends', although the term was very loose.
However, Piden wasn't one to throw a party, and he was usually the person who pretended he was busy rather than go out to meet other people. And he WAS busy, wasn't he? Always. He simply wasn't the type to make something fun happen for someone else. So, instead of the announcements and invitations and decorations of a true mixer, he'd stolen a big plate of turnovers and bubbly pies right out of the oven. They might be slightly underdone, but heck, they were free. Sneaking into the Wherhandler's apartments, he left them on a small table in the entrance way, propping a door so they smell would waft down the hall. Thus prepared, he sent Pidesk out side to "hunt" i.e. meet new Whers, and lounged in a corner (far, far away from the dessert plate) with a book, snacking on pie. It was a few weeks after the Fort attack, so he figured no one would be left in the Infirmary, and most people would be heading back from 'lunch' sometime soon- perfect.
Everyone liked pie, right?

Roivao trundled back to the apartments, intending to get in some time to himself. It seemed that even at night the weyr was a bustle of activity and Roisk insisted on seeing that everyone was well. He seemed to consider all the whers, particularly young ones, under his protection. At least his wings were healing. It was a good thing whers didn't really need them anyway, they weren't much use now except for show.
A familiar, delicious smell greeted him at the entrance. Roivao eyed the pastries suspiciously and raised an eyebrow at Piden. Roisk butted him inside, his meaning clear. His spent too much time alone anyway, he should go be social. Meanwhile, Roisk would sit outside, it was a lovely night. Roi sighed and came over next to Piden, taking a small turnover. "Planning on catching some younglings? I hear they can smell pie a mile away," he asked with mild humor. He wasn't completely gloom all the time, he just didn't often feel the mood to express it.

"If that was his plan he succeeded," Eikane said to the room at large. He sauntered over to the treats and snagged a bubbly pie. He'd just been heading back to the apartments from his meal when his wher had caught the scent of even more person food. Shortly after she'd smelled it, so had Eikane. It smelled delicious. He had seen Roivao enter the apartments just before him and he slipped in through the door while the older man spoke, hence his answer.
Eikane wore a simple cream coloured longsleeve shirt and a pair of dark brown pants. The plain outfit was accented by a chocolate brown scarf wrapped around his neck. He'd looped it around once then let the yellow-barred ends hang down in front. He was fond of the gift, given to him by Nautic along with a basket of cookies. He had yet to bring up the heart-shaped cookie because he was still trying to figure out what exactly it meant. He took a bite of his pie and enjoyed the warm filling.
Eikask had left Hers willingly for once. Let him associate with the other humans; there were bronzes about! She greeted Roisk and Pidesk pleasantly. One was her teacher yet she still didn't know him well. The other she knew even less but he'd been more than willing to protect their fellow whers during the attack. She took up a place not too far from either bronze and considered what to do. If she could make them loyal to her...yes that would do nicely. Which one to work on first?

In a room of tall men (with the exception of Roivao) the next to enter was even taller. And, ironically, younger and of slighter build than any of the others. Dmitri still had room to grow, and at the rate he'd been going, it seemed likely that he would. His recently shorn hair seemed to be in a permanent state of tousled fluff, possibly due to its thickness. He, too, had a scarf coiled around his slender shoulders despite the lateness of the season, markedly similar to Eikane's, though in blue and white. The slender figure paused in his graceful stride, hand coming up to lower the layer of fabric covering his mouth, as if he needed it to see and smell the pastries properly or something. Dmisk pressed against his side companionably. (He'd greeted the other whers, and if it was a cold greeting, it was genuine enough; Dmisk was not the demonstrative sort. Besides, it was a glitter convention, and he had no glitter. Nevermind that, while awake, he hadn't left Dmitri's side since the attack.)
"Snaring younglings?" the boy commented, the youngest of Selenitas's wherhandlers. There was an edge of disdain to the words, though most would know by now that much of Dmitri's snide demeanor was show. His gaze flicked to Roivao. "This some sort of attempt to apologize for abandoning us, then?" he asked without preamble. As he passed the Wherlingmaster, however, his hand fell briefly on the shorter man's shoulder, squeezing it lightly in the seconds it took him to pass Roi by. Only then did he notice Piden sprawled in his chair, the bluehandler squinting at the man, which pulled the scarred half of his face strangely. "Seems the recluse decided to show his face. Is it a secret trait of bronzehandlers, this hiding in their rooms away from everyone else? Speaking of which," and here he glanced at Eikane. "Is Ariya even alive?"
Many things could be said about Dmitri, but antisocial wasn't one of them. Of course, he was an acquired taste at the best of times, and whether other people would want his form of socialization or not was another matter entirely.
Nevertheless, Dmitri didn't move to disappear as one might have expected given his comments, instead leaning against the table that held the goodies and unabashedly munching on a turnover even though he'd just eaten. Despite his slim figure (which was decidedly slimmer due to an extended infirmary stay) no one could ever fault Dmitri for his appetite; he ate just as much, if not more, than any other male teenager.

Nautsk skittered forward with a small bounce in her step. She was happy to be out of the infirmary! She could sleep in the same room as Her's again, the healers had made her stay far away from Nautic while he was getting better. But now that they both were out, it was nice to be able to sleep near her Bonded. Sometimes, Her's would wonder over to her couch in the middle of the night and curl up against her. True it wasn't as comfortable as his bed, but it gave them both peace of mind. But ever since the attack he hadn't been as sociable as he used to be, and that worried Nautsk. So that is why she was currently scurrying down the main hallway of the Wherhandler apartments toward the common area, having left her human in the dust without an explanation. She knew that he'd follow her, he always did and he always would. When the other Wher's came into view, she chirped a loud greeting. New friends! Ohoh, and old ones too! Greeting Eikask first, Nautsk trotted over to Dmisk who stood by His. Rumbling a greeting, she swished her tail back and forth. She was happy to see him. They had spent time together in the infirmary while they were healing. Plus his Human was one of Her's good friends, so by automatic default he was one of her favorites as well.
Nautic sighed as Nautsk disappeared from sight. He didn't feel like running, but mostly because his shoulder hurt every time he ran. His sling was gone, but his right side still supported healing instruments. His shoulder was still confined in a brace, and his hand was wrapped in a thin cast. Buttoning his shirt, a one handed task he had gotten used to, the Greenhandler rocked himself onto his feet. Collecting Tizzy (since Absinthe was sleeping off some alcohol), he offered the Blue his shoulder before exiting his room. "Waaaak?" "Yes Tiz. We're going for a walk." He paused for a moment as he guessed which way his Wher had went. It was more likely that she had gone toward the Common Area, it was where most of the Handlers spent their time when they got sick of their rooms.
He listened to the sound of his boots echo off the walls as he walked down the hallway, the apartments around him surprisingly quiet. From what he had heard, they had lost a few handlers in the attack. The apartments had been empty before, but now? Now they felt almost like they were deserted. Sure, there weren't as many Whers as there were Dragons, but surely the Apartments had never been meant to be this empty. It was almost spooky how a silence seemed to settle over their living quarters some nights (or mornings depending on how you view it). It didn't seem right. As he neared the Common Area, he caught the smell of baked goodies. Was someone celebrating something? Next he caught the mummer of voices. A gathering of Wherhandlers? Was this the end of Pern?
Poking his head through the entranceway, he blinked in surprise. He knew three out of the four people standing about, the fourth he had seen but never talked to. Oh and there are the Whers. So the mystery handler was a Bronzehandler? Huh. Turning his head, he listened as Demi finished speaking. Nautic could only assume he was being snarky again, he could count on his hand the few times his friend wasn't. "Dmitri, are you being mean again?" Stepping into the room, his eyes wondered from his friends to the others and then back again. Aw, they were wearing the scarves he made them. He smiled at everyone, but it oddly lacked the usual brightness. Tizzy flared his wings slightly before adding his own greeting. "Hurro!" Walking forward, he picked up a small bubbly pie and bit into it before wondering over to the other side of his Wher. "Hello everyone."

The pervading scent of baked goods wafting down the corridor made Yoalla and Yosk pause in their game of attempting to wrestle a rawhide strip off of each other. Needless to say the wher, being so much stronger and heavier than her handler had been winning the game so their pause was actually Yosk pausing in pulling her handler across the floor of their room while Yoalla stopped resisting the green’s efforts. ‘Yosk, that smells like someone is eating pies without us.’ Yoalla stated, letting go of the rawhide and sitting up. ‘I think we should go and demand to know why they aren’t sharing with us.’ The greenhandler got to her feet and brushed the dust of her clothes before wandering out of the open door and following her nose.
Yosk looked around the room, down at the rawhide toy, and then after her handler and sighed. It was clear a toy played poor second fiddle to a pie in her handler’s world. Yosk sniffed the air, she supposed the pies did smell nice, and it was clear the game was over so she too wandered out of the door.
‘Oh a party, did my invitation get lost?’ Yosk cringed at the flippant comment from Yoalla. How rude! Couldn’t she try to be nice so that these people might like Yosk better? No one would ever want to play with her if she had a rude handler as well as being ugly. As soon as there was room for her to get through the doorway Yosk trotted in confidently, for all of three steps. On seeing the other whers in the room the green’s posture dropped back to its usual defensive slink, head down, wings held stiffly, and eyes squinted nearly shut. Oh not fair, a room full of pretties, couldn’t they go now before someone noticed Yosk didn’t belong?
Ignoring her mindmate’s discomfort Yoalla wandered over to the trays of probably stolen snacks and selected a pie. ‘Hello Dmitri, enjoying The Devil’s company?’ she simply couldn’t resist teasing as she passed the harper by. Not only did she hope he found the green salamandyr as objectionable as Yoalla herself did, but she also really hoped the reminder made him squirm. Then, at long last, Yoalla might have a way to shut him up.

Piden raised his eyebrows, a look of pure innocence on his face. "Me? They were just here when I got back. I figured one of you had made them, or the Weyrfolk had sent them over as a thank-you for saving their kitchens." He was a good liar too, by reflex, so the sarcasm would be hard to detect, although it was obviously there (the kitchens being a part of the recently re-arranged Main Hall). Laying the book carefully over the arm of the chair so as not to lose his place, Piden allowed himself a little smile. It was true- baked goods really did work incredible wonders.
He pushed himself a little bit out of his sprawl as more handlers appeared, making a vague attempt to look polite. "Recluse, eh?" he shot at Dmitri, tilting his head to one side. "Are you sure you just haven't been invited to the Piden Party yet? It's very exclusive," he added, still with barely detectable sarcasm. "Yoalla knows," he tossed at her as she entered the room. Hopefully she hadn't heard the rest and would back him up without questioning, but it would be funny either way, to Piden at least. Oh, wouldn't it be lovely if he could make her blush. Quite a triumph.
"And of course it is a standing invitation," he finished innocently in Yoalla's direction, finally munching down the rest of his pie. Straightening a bit more, he glanced at the two who had been wounded worst in the fort attack, naming them aloud. "Nautic and Dmitri, right? And Eikane, of course," he added, with a nod to the Goldhandler. "I'm Piden, if any of you missed that, of Pidesk over there. The skinny bronze," he added.
Hearing his name, Pidesk yapped happily, excited to be around so many Whers. He kept bobbing his head in greeting, even at the ones who stayed with their handlers. He let them stay, but Yosk was a different story. He loped over to her, matching her stance exactly in good-natured imitation of their first game. Then he slunk around behind, trying to herd her out with the other Whers. Dmisk and Nautsk were invited too, although less physically. Pidesk had no idea what he planned on doing with the gathered Whers, but that was the last thing on his mind. He just wanted the other Whers to feel included.

Roivao chuckled softly. It was clear the pastries hadn't appeared appeared out of thin air, but it was hard to tell if Piden had had a hand in it. Roi suspected he had though. It was all far too convenient. Roi smiled at each new arrival, pleased to see so many had decided to join the spontaneous gathering. It was true they spent far too much time away alone or in small groups. He was probably even more guilty of that then most.
He shrugged off Dmitri's jibes and gave him a welcome smile too. He was too glad to see the younger man up and alive to worry too much about his attitude. Besides, he was partly right. If he'd been able to handle his class better, they might have been better prepared for the worst. He'd vowed to do better with the next one. Maybe if he made classes more interesting somehow...
But there was time for that later. Roi nodded at Piden's introduction and chose to lean against the wall and let him start things off. He knew all his students already and most of them hadn't met the other bronzehandler yet. He had no doubt that the younger handlers would soon have this turning into quite the party.
Roisk rumbled greetings to each new arrival as they came. Pidesk seemed eager to talk and play and he was willing enough. So long as everyone was safe and happy, play was a good thing. He was pleased that his bonded was socializing and hoped he would stay longer. Even Tiida was in a cheerful mood. Welcome groudbeast precious's, she sang out. Tasties for all!

Eikane looked at Dmitri when he entered, almost choking on his pie in his amusement. Straight to the snarking. He didn't really expect much else from the other harper. He didn't cringe at his appearance; he'd seen it plenty at the infirmary. What did still surprise him was the hair. He'd never thought Dmitri would willingly cut it off. Now it looked very ruffleable compared to the comb-with-fingers deal before. The second thought he'd had when he'd first seen the new haircut was that he probably had the longest hair out of the male wherhandlers now.
He quirked a brow curiously when Dmitri asked him if Ariya 'was alive.' He was wondering why the bluehandler thought he knew where she was. He hadn't seen the girl or her bronze since the attack. He didn't answer right away in any case. He had just taken a bite of his pie when Dmitri asked him the question. He watched the exchange between Piden and Dmitri for a moment. The moment extended as others arrived and added to the conversation. He let them have their jokes. Eikane wasn't as sociable as Dmitri. He didn't mind talking to others but large groups weren't entirely his thing.
As the topic of Devil came up, Eikane paused to see Dmitri's reaction. Nocturne had confirmed that Yoalla's green had been involved in Dementia's run and had somehow won (Eikane did not want to know the details). Piden went on to do introductions for all of them and when his name was mentioned he gave a polite nod before moving over towards Nautic. The greenhandler was one of the two people in the room he actually knew well enough to consider a friend. He gave Nautic a good natured bump on the shoulder.
He didn't immediately say anything private to the greenhandler, instead he spoke to the room at large. "Since there are several of us here - minus some who are Faranth knows where - shall we play a game?" He had frequently taught children and knowing several games for groups to play was always a msut with them. There were some even adults found fun...if he was an adequate example of one.
Eikask didn't entirely blame Dmisk for not staying near her and the two bronzes. She was still concerned letting Hers stray so far and he hadn't been injured. The greeting would have to do. Nautsk showed proper difference to her which the gold liked about her clutchsister. Hers had been injured too, causing Eikask's quite a bit of concern. The other green though...Yosk had the nerve to take on of her bronzes! Eikask huffed with annoyance. They ought to be paying attention to her, not each other. Fine. She'd take Hers' idea of a game and suggest one to the whers as well. She barked to get attention before going up to Roisk and tapping him (more like brushing her muzzle) on his shoulder with her snout. Tagged!

Returning his clutchsister's greeting, though his was so soft it was unlikely that any but her or possibly His would notice, the large blue lifted a leg to bat at the air just before her snout. It was strange, actually, not having Nautsk in the same room with him anymore; they'd been together since their hatching, after all. Ignoring the rather exasperated look he could feel coming from above, he edged closer to the green.
Wrinkling his nose good-naturedly at Nautic, the bluehandler didn't respond to the comment that seemed to need no reply. His former roommate seemed rather...downtrodden. Something he was loathe to draw attention to, so didn't comment on. The next familiar voice, however, had him wincing. Yoalla. He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, feeling the heat rising in his face and wishing, not for the first time, that he wasn't naturally pale as a sheet. "They've taken up in the communal baths," he managed, tone so flat it had to be obvious he was forcing it that way.
Piden, fortunately, distracted him quite adequately from his discomfort. A cold glitter entered into the boy's eyes as he watched the bronzehandler move. "Any private club you've invited Yoalla to, I have no issue being left out of, Piden" he commented dryly. The harper glanced around the room, then slid his mangled hand into his pocket - a gesture that was quickly becoming habit. "I'm sorry, I can't seem to fine the gigantic glaring sign with your name scrawled across it. Or is it your enormous ego that is supposed to be announcing your entitlements?" He snorted. "If we missed that." Which, in the event anyone was too slow to follow him, should be indication enough of where he was coming from. Did the bronzehandler truly expect them to know him when he hadn't introduced himself before?
The gray eyes slid toward Eikane incredulously. A game? Nevertheless, he swatted Dmisk on the flank. "Off with you. I don't need a watch-wher every second I'm awake."
Offering up a soundless snarl at His, Dmisk padded slowly toward the other whers. He wasn't fond of glittering whers, truly, though he again offered them the acknowledgment that their hides demanded before curling up a short distance away. How long would he have to play nice and watch the bronzes flirt with Eikask? How terribly dull. Yawning, his neck curved ever so slightly in silent invitation to Nausk. (He would have offered it to Yosk, as well, but she seemed thoroughly taken care of by Pidesk, and Faranth forbid he encroach on the glittering one's territory.)

He was busy consuming his bubbly pie when Yoalla entered but a wave was offered to her in greeting. It would have been rude to speak with his mouth crammed full with pie (the only food he ever really took big bites out of). Despite being from their class Nautic didn't know Yoalla that well, which he found strange because Nautsk did her best to say hello to all of her clutchsiblings as often as possible. He'd have to remedy his soon. Maybe he'd kidnap all off his class and have a picnic or something. Wiping the crumbs off of his face, Nautic wobbled slightly as he was bumped on his shoulder. He blinked. It was fortunate that it wasn't his left shoulder that was hurt. Looking up - he had noticed that most Wherhandlers tended to either be really tall or short like him - the younger blond smiled. "Hello Eikane."
"Tsk. I think that he was referring to when he said 'Piden's Party', I'm pretty sure he said that when we were all in the room." He offered the Bronzerider a kind look before turning to his Goldhandler friend. "What kind of game?" He wondered if it would be anything like the introduction games he taught the Weyrbrats in the Creche. Maybe a more mature version, seeing as they were all older than six. Although sometimes he could imagine Demi as a younger sibling. A very large, younger sibling with an attitude. Turning to the others, Nautic shrugged visibly. "I think that playing a party game would be fun. You know, getting to know everyone a little better might be a good thing." Bobbing his finger twice he continued. "I don't want to work with someone that I don't know anything about, and I certainly can't be with Demi and Eikane all the time. There's so few of us Wherhandlers, we should all be like..." He paused and the tired look seeped back over his face. "...a weird and now that I think about it, probably dysfunctional family. But at the very least a little closer, y'know, than we are now." Tizzy rumbled unhappily about being wagged about, he didn't have the best balance you know!
Nautsk chirped happily at Yosk when she arrived. Clutchsister, clutchsister, clutchsister mine. Wagging her tail again as she watched Pidesk get up to greet her Greensister, the small Wher turned back to Dmisk as she clicked her jaws together. Using her own paw she batted his away from her nose, and then whined. She missed being able to sleep near him like they used to, couldn't they share a room again? Maybe Her's would sleep better. Either way, it was Pidesk movements and Eikask's bark that drew her attention away from her Bluebrother. Huhhuh? What was going on? Where they going to play? She loved playing games. Once again her attention was stolen. Dmisk was moving away from her, why she didn't know, but he was. Prancing around in a circle she watched the larger Blue trundle over to the other Whers, she scampered after him when he asked her over. Sliding to a halt (her claws didn't catch well on the floor!), Nautsk flopped down directly in front of Dmisk with a happy wuff. She reached out and batted at his closest foot before pulling back and putting her head between her paws.

Yoalla merely raised an eyebrow inscrutably at Piden’s snide comment, she might have stuck her tongue out at him but she was busy nibbling on the pie she’d claimed. She actually had no clue what he was talking about, having missed the beginning of the conversation.
Yosk’s muzzle raised slightly at Nautsk’s cheerful greeting, she was good to Yosk Nautsk was. The pale green took a hesitant step towards her clutchsister before Pidesk caught her eye. What was he up to, shouldn’t he be playing with Eikask? Eikask was pretty, wasn’t she? Yosk made a inquiring sond and brushed her mind against the bronze’s shyly as she stepped away from both him and Yoalla, only to jump guiltily as Eikask barked. See? She knew Pidesk should have been paying attention to the gold.
A game? Yoalla gave a derisive snort for the goldhandler’s idea, albeit one that probably no one heard. How old did Eikane think they were, four? Returning her attention to the seemingly uncomfortable harper beside her Yoalla offered a twisted smile. ‘Well, a salamandyr nest should add a whole new terror to having a bath around here then.’ She commented, and not even sarcastically this time. To Dmitri she did actually stick her tongue out and waggle it. ‘You’re just upset you were left out.’ She shot back. ‘And it’s definitely his ego that’s supposed to be the indicator. It’s big enough.’ The greenhandler really couldn’t resist the chance to have a go at Piden too. She was determined to get her comments in now before the real contest to wits began. She was normally no good at fast talk, running out of barbed comments long before she ran out of targets.
‘A family?’ Yoalla repeated in disbelief after a moment of silence. ‘Us? We don’t need to be like family to be dysfunctional I’m sure. I’d settle for a working relationship myself. It’s probably safer.’ Family wasn’t a concept Yoalla was comfortable with, her mother hadn’t sold her but plenty of other families sold off their littles to bordels or the mines for a little extra coin. Enough of her childhood friends had just vanished one day that Yoalla would probably never really like the concept of family.

"Gigantic glaring sign? Now that is a good idea," Piden mused, looking up above his head as if there actually was one there. "I'll keep it in mind." He bared his teeth at Dmitri- it wasn't exactly a friendly smile, but it wasn't exactly not friendly either (much better than most people got). He wasn't sure what he thought of the Bluehandler yet, but he'd give it time. Yoalla's comment was greeted with a mock-serious nod and a shrug; Piden was aware of his 'faults', as others called them. He, of course, thought some ego was a very healthy thing. If you didn't love you, who would?
Eikane, on the other hand, was lucky Piden was in a friendly mood tonight. Generally, being the way he was, Piden would have teased the Goldhandler into a hole for something so childish. What were they, to need a game to entertain them? Three, four turns? But pie was, in fact, one of the things that made Piden feel friendly. Pie reminded him of gathers, which in turned reminded him of pretty boys and girls, and nights well spent. And Nautic had said both the words 'game' and 'family' in the same few breaths, and that WAS the point after all, even if Piden didn't really want to admit it to himself. So he shrugged again, this time in Nautic's direction (ignoring the twinge that was always there, now, where his damaged collar bone had healed maybe not perfectly).
But Yoalla changed his mind. She didn't want a family? Too bad. No one ever wanted family, but that didn't mean they didn't have one. "Despite Yoalla's personal dysfunctions, a game sounds good," he offered, contemplating the middle distance. "What do you want to play, Eikane?" He managed to keep that sounding mostly innocent, although Piden's voice sounded either like seduction or sarcasm no matter how hard he tried. With things going well enough socially, he wanted the sarcasm out, and had to trade for seduction, but he smothered it as much as he could. Eikane being a goldhandler, seduction might come later, but Piden didn't want to play favorites this early, not with this particular group. Lots of potential.
Pidesk dipped a head in Eikask's direction at her huff, assuring her he meant no offense. But Yosk's shy mental greeting was warmly returned, even as Pidesk turned back towards the Gold and the other Bronze. Yes, he was called to attend on the Queen, but he wanted Yosk to know that he always enjoyed her company. As he headed towards Eikask, though, he saw her tap Roisk on the shoulder. Tag! He knew what that meant! Comically scrambling backwards, the Bronze turned tail, streaking out towards the nearby forest. He might be small, but Pidesk was fast, more a Brown's speed than a Bronze's. This was his kind of game!

Roi just shrugged and smiled. He didn't think he'd be much good for a game, but it was nice to see everyone being so lighthearted. He hadn't played games since before his days as a weyrling. Once he'd Impressed, it had been all work and no play. It might make better fighters, but Roi was glad it wasn't like that here. It didn't do much for people's mentality. Tiida scoffed from his shoulder. This was more boring then she'd hoped.
Roisk blinked at Eikask for a moment, trying to grasp her meaning. Then he rumbled deeply with amusement. Why not? It would be good to stretch his legs. It would be hard to catch smaller and faster whers, but he was always ready for a challenge. Pidesk was quicker on the uptake, but some of the others hadn't started moving yet. He darted for Nautsk and Dmisk, aiming to knock the little green lightly on her head if she didn't move quick enough.

Eikane smile down at Nautic. "Hey," he said simply, enjoying the closeness while it lasted. At the expressions on a couple of the other faces present the goldhandler chuckled softly to himself, though Nautic likely heard considering he was standing right next to him. Did they never let loose and have fun? Even he knew when to set aside his own pride to shake off some stress (admittedly, he never did anything too unusual). If anyone was not still a little disturbed by the attack then he genuinely worried about their mental state.
What Nautic said echoed the harper's sentiments. His real family hadn't ever been particularily supportive of him and perhaps he wanted to create the sort of environment a family ought to provide among the wherhandlers. He was stuck with them, after all. So long as Eikask was around (and he had no intention of losign her) she wouldn't leave behind her followers. She'd sit on him if she had to. She did it at her hatching and she'd do it again.
Piden spoke to him and he smiled. "Nothing big really. I'm not energetic enough to run around like the whers. I was thinking of a simple game to help us get to know a bit about one another. You tell two truths and one lie about yourself and people have to guess which one is the lie. If that doesn't appeal to you who are oldies inside I could break out the bottle of wine hidden in my room and we could play a drinking game." He'd been planning on saving the wine for a more auspicious occasion but he suppsoed this get together counted as a party. If they did end up drinking he didn't intend on letting people get too drunk. Being pleasantly buzzed wouldn't be too bad though.
Eikask was somewhat mollified by Pidesk's acknowledgement. Good bronze. She supposed she could accept him showing her clutchsister some pity. The game didn't go exactly as planned and she found herself entirely isolated, much to her frustration. She was a big shiny target! She didn't begrudge Roisk heading towards Dmisk and Nautic though. Dmisk was hers and if tagging one or the other of the pair seperated them then that was all for the good.
