Feyrianth trotted ahead of her bonded, her green hide shone in the afternoon light the almost metallic spots especially gleaming. Behind her Erilena swayed to and fro humming a tune she had been rehearsing for days. The trip to the hatching sands had been fruitful and she now had enough egg shards for her project. Hopefully she could get it done before the first lesson but more than likely it would be later than that. Her green’s good spirits where high and the little four winged beauty suddenly stopped with a snort and pawed the ground. Turning to her bonded she gave a tiny bugle.
Catch me if you can Lovemine! Let’s race. Without another word the small green tossed her head much like a runner and galloped off down the trail. Laughing the green weyrling followed, her bag bouncing off her hip and slowing her just a fraction. Erilena didn’t want to spill what she had worked so hard collecting this morning.
As Feyrianth rounded the corner she gave a squeal of surprise to find the path blocked by none other than her brown clutchbrother. Watch out! She called aloud, as she tried in vain to stop herself by flaring out all four wings. The suddenness of her stop caused the green to execute a near perfect summersault.
The small hatchling ended up on her back, all four legs in the air, wings spread out comically to each side beneath her. Oh dear. Feyrianth remarked looking to the left and right. She couldn’t very well roll or she might hurt her wings. There where many disadvantages of having so many wings. I didn’t hurt you did I? She remarked quietly to Trilaranth. Unfortunately in bespeaking her clutch brother she forgot to tell her bonded what had happened. If she had remembered the green might have prevented the next collision.
Upon hearing her green squeal Erilena quickened her pace. Turning the corner she ran straight into R’ven. Crying out in surprise the green weyrling’s arms flailed in an attempt to keep her balance. Despite her attempts, The woman still fell ungracefully on her rear. Her bag had gone flying. Fortunately though, the leather ties on it didn’t unfasten and so what lay within was still safe.
“Owww. Roadblock.” The Erilena murmured as she rubbed her nose. Hitting him had been like hitting a stone wall. The woman rather doubted she had injured him but regardless she offered R’ven an apology. “Sorry about that. Guess we should really watch where we are going.”

"You're very.. destructive."
Trilaranth paused from his current task – shredding the bark off one of the trees lining the trail. His short neck twisted around to regard his bonded with the faintest trace of amusement. It was just a tree, one among many, no one was going to get upset over a single tree. Snorting, Trilaranth dropped back down on all fours and once again took to lead them along the trail. Beside, what was the tree going to do to stop him?
Of a sudden the brown found himself facing a mass of green was hurtling at him. With her wings flared, the image of a giant fern crossed Trilaranth's mind. The trees! The jungle was attacking him back! With a snarl, the fawn dragon braced himself on hindquarters and lifted a single front claw to slash at the air – he'd take on the pitiful plant and shred it to pieces! He emitted a guttered snarl as – the fern told him to watch out?
The brown snapped his own flaring wings to his sides in a sheepishly display as he back pedaled few stumbling steps to avoid the somersaulting green. Ah, his clutchsister. Trilaranth's wings flicked open then close at his sides as he edged forward and playfully touched his muzzle against her side. You didn't even touch me, Fey. He assured her, the soft tease clear in his tone. Silly of her to worry about him when she was the one on the ground. It would have taken a lot more than his four-winged sister to take him down. Where are you off to in such a rush?
The brown's head lifted just in time to see his bonded come around the corner, and Feyrianth's chosen come flying down the path to complete the collision the two hatchlings had narrowly avoided. R'ven was not as quick to react as his dragon. The smith only caught a glimpse of movement and felt his muscle tense in preparation of the unavoidable. He nearly went down himself – one leg stepping back as his arms flailed to the sides.
R'ven made a grab for the falling Erilena but he was too late – so he shifted his arching arm to instead catch the small bag. At least he saved something. With a small, visible grimace R'ven rubbed his free hand against his chest where the girl had impacted against. "It's alright, are you okay?" He instantly extended a hand to gently ease her back onto her feet. The concern in his eyes as he ducked slightly to get a better look at Erilena's face – he had seen her rubbing at her nose – was it bleeding?
Taking a page out of R'ven's book, Trilarnath turned his attention back to Feyrianth – who had still to rise up to her feet. The brown canted his head to the side as he circled around her spread wings to be closer to her head. He nudged her shoulder in question. Do you need help up?

Feyrianth wriggled in place as Trilaranth touched his muzzle to her side. Stretching her neck she tried to nuzzle him back, succeeding only partially. After all one could not nuzzle or cuddle properly on their back. Tril! I am happy we did not go smack like our riders. Crooning softly the green’s eyes whirled a happy blue. I was racing mine. I did not expect anyone to be in the way. I am sorry that I almost made us go smack. Fond Feyrianth was of her brown clutch brother. To be fair she was fond of all her clutch siblings. But Trilaranth was her ONLY brown clutch brother. This made him special and she had already claimed him as part of her horde of wonderful things.
Erilena tried not to flush as the brown weyrling spoke. Oh what a mess of things she had made. At least she hadn’t sent him sprawling as well. Then again looking at him the green weyrling mused that it would probably take a lot more than her slight form to send him sprawling. The woman took R’ven’s hand and allowed him to lift her to her feet. Awkwardly she shifted. “Thanks for catching my bag. I’m really sorry. I should be watching where I’m going. I hope I didn‘t hurt you.” Erilena meant it too. The last thing she wanted was to cause anyone pain. From the corner of her eye the weyrling caught her classmate looking at her nose. Hastily she rubbed it again. “I’m ok really. It’s not bleeding but I should probably try to avoid any more facial collisions in the future.” Erilena fixed a dazzling smile on her face before a slight pang amusement was felt in the back of her head and she remembered her small green.
Erilena’s eyes widened. “Oh my goodness!’ She whirled suddenly and looked over at her green, totally forgetting her bag for the moment. “Fey are you ok?” The four winged green crooned in amusement. Yes I am fine. Do not worry Trilaranth already offered to help me up. Her words where cheerful and Erilena felt no pain from the green, only amusement and happiness. Silly creature. Biting her bottom lip the green weyrling turned back to R’ven. “She’s ok. Sorry again.”
Feyrianth chirped as Trilaranth touched her shoulder. Oh yes I would very much like some assistance in rising. I don’t want to hurt my wings. If you push I think I will be able to right myself well enough. The four winged dragonet braced herself to surge forward. If her clutch brother pushed at her back she should be able to get up without trampling her wings. He was much bigger and stronger than her after all, so working together it should be easy. Once the small green was on her feet she tucked her wings, turned, and pranced happily back to Trilaranth. Oh thank you so much clutchbrothermylove. Feyrianth punctuated the words with a enthusiastic nuzzle to the brown’s neck. You are so very strong!

Slowly a smile was working over R'ven features as he continued to bob and weave with her motions, attempting still to get a decent look at her nose. Her blushing and near flails at him quite amusing. When she spun to check on the dragons, R'ven merely chuckled in response. The bag of egg shells found her palm as she faced him again. A distraction, really, to keep her from covering her nose again.
Without waiting for a response, the brown weyrling touched either side of her face. Keeping it still and gently tilting it back so he could use the sparse lighting to get a better look. A little red, but true to her word it didn't seem to be bleeding. "Okay. Okay. You're sorry, I heard you. You're forgiven. And yes, I'm fine." The words soft, a rather shushing tone to get her to calm down. His grin showed then, borderline teasing of her reaction toward the collision. He let his hands lower back down to sides. "It happens a lot, actually. I think I should start walking off the paths.."
Trilaranth pushed under his four-winged clutchsister, it wasn't the gentlest of motions but it still had her upright on legs in a short moment. Her compliment pleased him, very much, and right then Trilaranth decided he liked Feyrianth a good deal. Yes, she saw how strong he was – not blind, was she. The brown kept the swelling ego mostly to himself, but his eyes were a lovely blue and he nuzzled the green back. Welcome Feysistermine.
Feeling Trilaranth's desire to stick around his wonderful sister – a notion the smith had to resist scoffing at; the green had merely stated the obvious. Oh yes, but that is what Trilaranth wanted – acknowledgment. R'ven gave the hatchlings a glance before shrugging at Erilena. "R'ven, by the way, sorry if I didn't catch your name before.. I don't know many people outside the kitchens." A murmur joke about himself. "We were just taking a walk if you don't mind the company."
His eyes dipped down to the bag, "Unless you are running away from someone.." A tease, and he shrugged again. "Could get back on the path as a roadblock to help you out."

Erilena’s hand reflexively curled around the bag as R’ven placed it in her hand. As he held her face in place the girl’s eyes widened but she didn’t resist. Instead she went completely still. When he let go she smiled and spoke, her tone now less frantic and more calm. “Oh you play the role of roadblock often?” She teased. “You’re rather good at it.” Quickly she shifted the bag of egg fragments to her shoulder and returned her attention to the smith. Debating for a moment on what would be proper, she finally settled for offering her hand. “I’m Erilena and you have already met Feyrianth.” Introduction done, she shifted to the smith’s side and offered her arm. “I’d love to walk with you. As far as my “chaser” goes I am sure we left him in the dust a long time ago.” Winking she smiled again. “As much as I admire your road blocking skills I don’t think they will be necessary.” It was rather nice to have the chance to get to know her classmates outside of the classroom environment. Plus R’ven was quite cute, and that was always a plus. She always had liked the more muscular types.
Feyrianth wriggled in glee as Trilaranth returned her nuzzle. Crooning happily she butted her head against his shoulder in glee. Oh Trilaranth we are going on a walk together how nice. My Erilena and I where looking for shinys in the hatching ground. There are shiny things everywhere if you look hard enough she says. Do you think that is true? She looked hopefully up at her larger sibling. I hope so. I like shiny things. I want to have a big collection of shinys. I will share them with you though because you are my favorite brown clutch brother. (Her only brown clutch brother but the feeling was there xD) Stepping forward the small green fell in behind their bondeds. Yours looks big and strong like you. Is he?
Erilena looked up at the brown weyrling from beneath dark eyelashes. “I’m originally from Selenitas weyr and you don’t come across as being weyrbred to me. Care to divulge where you came from?” If she had to guess, she would say Hyphen. Solely because with the musculature, gentle nature, and size he came across as being a smith. Her only fiancée had been a smith and he had been a horrible womanizing fool. A small flash of disgust followed that thought. It wasn’t fair to lump all smith’s in that category just because of Kentvin. After all, she knew quite a few nice ones. R’ven was a dragon rider now as well. He would no longer be a smith unless be decided to pursue such work on the side. Trying to push her jumbled thoughts to the side she focused on R’ven’s face.

"I question how good it is for my health.." R'ven joked, putting a hand to his chest and feigning a pained expression. The sudden extend of hand caused him to blink down at the limb. A definite pause before he took her hand, giving it a single shake in greeting. With a faux hum of thoughtfulness he leaned to the side and looked down the trail behind her. "Even so, I better stick around to make sure you're safe. I believe I've proved myself a worthy barrier."
Trilaranth rose to his feet, following after the humans while casually bumping back into Feyrianth. He didn't know much of shinys – aside from the sheen of his sister's hide – so he looked curiously off the side of the path to test Erilena's theory. I've never looked for shinys. But he was willing to help Feyrianth if she was being kind enough to offer to share. What kind do you like?
Attention caught by her last question, Trilaranth turned his muzzle back around. Short neck arching regally in an smooth curve and his wing extending – clearly puffing up in pride. He had chosen his because he was clearly superior over the other males that stood the sands. Indeed, mine is powerful – for a human. Crooning, Trilaranth looked toward the humans. You've made a fine choice as well, Feymine.
Head canting to one side, R'ven gave a look half amused half curious to Erilena. "How did you deduce that – do hold folk normally good walls instead of doors?" A light tease, but there was a definite calculating edge going on behind his soft hazel eyes. Calmly, he reversed her arm so that it was her taking his arm instead of the other way around. Just out for a stroll. "Hypen, to answer your question. I came here about a turn ago.. " And he didn't doubt that he tended to stick out like a sore thumb.. in mannerisms, at least. "I was stationed here to be a smith, but became a candidate to be more a.. part.. of the Weyr. I never really thought I would impress."
His mindset was nothing like the dragonriders. R'ven glanced side-long at her face – which seemed intent on him. An unfamiliar nervousness brought out an awkward smile. With his free hand he tapped the leather bag balancing on her shoulder. "So what are the goods, thief?"

Feyrainth considered her brother's words for a moment before speaking. Well shinys can really be anything that looks interesting. But only the best shinys sparkle. Mine has a shiny that is blue and sparkles when the light hits it. The little green hopped forward happily as she tried to match her stride to her brother’s. Which was near impossible, considering that Trilaranth’s legs where larger. It sparkles when the light hits it so it is a best shiny. The green fluttered her wings and craned her neck as she also searched the path for shinys. Oh that rock looked promising! But thoughts of collecting it fled her mind as the brown spoke again.
The green looked up at her brother and nuzzled his arched neck happily. Oh yes I quite like mine. I knew I wanted her all along. I am glad she is mine. A glint of iridescence caught her eye then and she let loose a happy whine. Oh! Look! A shiny! Bounding towards the nearest bush she reached up and gently plucked a bright blue and green iridescent father form the bush, obviously a tail feather shed from some passing tropical bird. Holding it up the light hit the feather just right and it seemed to shimmer. Oh and it is a best shiny too.
Prancing back to Trilaranth she offered it to him. I think you should have it. Every best brother should have a best shiny. The four winged green’s blue eyes regarded her brother happily. Everyone deserved gifts especially her favorites. A spot where her brown brother clearly resided. One of her favorites he was. Oh she was bound to collect more favorites but Trilaranth would always be her only favorite brown brother (considering her was the only one she had).
R’ven’s joke caused Erilena to giggle slightly. “Not every holder no. But I find those big types do make good walls.” Her eyes sparkled with mirth as she bounced along beside the larger boy. Feyrianth’s moods where infectious and R’ven was good company all in all this put Erilena in a extremely good mood. His reversal of their positions didn’t go unnoticed but she didn’t offer any resistance. It was more natural for her to hold his arm after all. “Hyphen huh? I’ve never been there although my father did take a trip down there once for something craft related. He is a Master glasscrafter.” The last was tagged on in explanation. Although she was curious as he added that he had come to the weyr as a smith.
“Why did you come here to work? Hyphen is pretty much the place for smiths isn’t it?” Extremely curious really. Then she realized that her words could come across as prying and green weyrling quickly backpedaled. “Oh sorry I am being horribly nosy aren’t I?” She offered shaking her head in mock annoyance at herself. “I have to remember that curiosity killed the feline.” Then R’ven poked at her bag and Erilena raised her eyebrow, a mischievous smile slitting across her face.
“Remember what I said about being nosy? Are you sure you want to know? I may have to swear you to secrecy.” She warned her voice light and teasing. Still in reply she stopped and unclasped the bag. In the filtered sunlight the egg shards she collected form the last hatching shone dimly. “They are for a secret project. Although since you have access to the forge I might need your help. Hmm.” Erilena let that syllable trail as she examined the smith’s face. “Maybe you could be my partner in crime?”

Trilaranth had just been eyeing a potentially shiny rock when Feyrianth bounded forward. At a slower pace (as it would hardly do to for him to trip over his own feet and make a fool of himself in front of his clutchsister) the brown followed the jovial green. He curiously extended his snout and sniffed at the feather, eyes narrowing as he examined the iridescent sheen.
For me? Cautiously Trilaranth took the feather, barely closing his jaws around the hollow stem with worries that if he closed too hard he would break the gift. Thank you. The brown tried to look at the feather, twisting his head around but only succeeding in making an odd dance as he tilted and turned. What was he suppose to do with it? He couldn't hold it forever – eventually he would have to eat.
"Glasscrafter. I've always found that an interesting art.. I don't have the delicate touch for it though." He paused at Erilena's following question. It really was a harmless inquiry, and honestly she was not the first person to ask. "Hardly. But, as you said.. Hypen is the place for smiths. There are plenty of us there. My uncle made the arrangements, suppose you could say he wanted me to see more of the world than the forge.."
Perhaps he should have felt bad that he wasn't telling the whole truth, but he didn't see any good in letting everyone know all the little things about his past. Thankfully the conversation swayed toward Erilena's hidden goods. R'ven's own curiosity kicked in and he began to lean forward as she secreted the bag – edging closer to her in order to peer down to see the reflective –
– a brown head popped up between them as Trilaranth wedged between the two humans. He stood up on his back legs, on front claw against the bone of R'ven's hip. The smith was forced to step back with his other leg, firming his stance against his dragon that was quickly growing out of the stages of being considering a hatchling. Fairly soon the brown was going to be too big to use him as a standing post. Trilaranth rumbled, holding the feather up in R'ven's face. Will you hold this for me?
Blinking, R'ven took the feather and just like that Trilaranth dropped back down and returned to Feyrianth. With his free hand he brushed the dirt off from his hip, glancing blankly at the dragons then to Erilena. "Well.." His hazel eyes dipped down to the feather as he ran it between his fingers. A faint smirk crossed his features before he twirled the long feather out, brushing it briefly under Erilena's nose. "I suppose I could help you out, but what's in it for me? Partners get a cut in the deal, don't they?"
Trilaranth returned back to Feyrianth, but just as he was about to join back at her side a flash in the light caught his attention – a small blurwing flitting amongst some flowers. Fey! Fey! Does that count? Is that one? It looks shiny. Without waiting for her response, Trilaranth pushed into the bushes off the side of the trail to attempt to catch the flying shiny for his sister.

Erilena listened in rapt attention as R’ven spoke nodding in the proper points. She searched the smith’s face for a reaction to her bag full of egg shards. However she never got to see the reaction, (if there was one) due to the fact that Trilaranth’s head quickly got in the way. The greenrider had to fight back a laugh as the brown used his as a post. It was fast becoming apparent that their little hatchlings where growing swiftly. Although Feyrianth still looked small compared to the brown she was growing to. As the brown bounced away the girl turned her attention to the object the dragon had given his bonded. A feather? Erilena fought a sneeze as the smith playfully ran the soft object under her nose. Batting it away she giggled. “Oh I suppose I could give you a cut of the profits if there are any. My first batch will be gifts but after that I’ll probably try to sell them for extra marks.”
Winking at him she reached into her shirt and brought out her necklace. Dangling from the thin leather cord was a teardrop shaped glass bead. Within it’s clear belly rested a piece of tan and red egg shell. “It’s Feyrianth’s. I memorized which dragon came from what egg. I got shells for each. I want to make one for everyone.” Tucking the glass bead back into her shirt she winked. “As you can see you only need a little piece of shell for each bead. The rest I can try and shape and trap in glass as jewelry and such.” Patting the bag she smiled. “Like I said my dad was a glass crafter and I learned a few things. I got really good at making beads and baubles of that kind. The more advanced stuff like glass sculptures and thing elude me but really it’s ok cause the beads are what I like to do anyway. I can do basic shapes and a few intricate things but nothing really fancy.”
Biting her bottom lip Erilena tugged on R’ven’s arm. “This is where you come in. I need access to the forge and a few metal tools made. I know you can do the tools if I give you the descriptions. Plus I would love the company. Sweating by yourself gets tiring after awhile. You game? I swear I’ll give you a cut if they become popular.” Looking up at him she batted her eyelashes and tried to look hopeful. Adding a bit of feminine charm couldn’t hurt after all could it?
Feyrianth bounced happily as her brother began to return. His sudden stop caused her to croon in confusion but his words made everything clear and she turned her head to catch a glint of the shimmer. Oh! Tril it is certainly a shiny. It must be the best of better shinys to because it is moving. As her brother moved to try and acquire it she bounded after him. If they caught it, it would certainly be the best thing in her quickly growing collection. The green disappeared into the brush hot on her brother’s heels, heedless of any danger. Trilaranth would protect her after all. He was her bestest, strongest brother. Better even than Mavenath. Mavenath was scary.

R'ven didn't know whether Erilena was being serious about sharing her profit of marks – the following wink made him uncertain – or if she was teasing him. When the time came, R'ven would politely refuse any share of profits. What she had in mind, to create the glass beads was... wonderful. He openly scanned Erilena's face before turning his attention to the bead.
"That's.. really nice of you." His tone was soft and there was a definite mix of surprise and endearment in his words. With a faint smile, R'ven reached toward Erilena's neck to take the glass bead into his palm before she could tuck it away. Quietly he examined the bead before politely drawing back to a more friendly distance. "It's really well done."
And then she was tugging on his arm, pleading and trying to convince him to help when she hardly needed to ask. R'ven would be more than happy to oblige (He also knew he was something of a pushover when it came to girls, he couldn't help it). It's not often he came across people, in the weyr, that were genuinely nice.. and smart. He didn't want to speak ill of anyone, but Erilena was different enough to be unique in his opinion.
"Hm, I'm not so sure.." He drawled playfully, arching a single brow while tilting his head as he observed the green weyrling. "Making deals with thieves sounds like a trap waiting to happen to me.." A inquisitive narrow of his hazel eyes accompanied the teasing smile. Was she trying to put images in his mind's eyes – of her sweating in the forge – to try and appeal to him? "I don't think the weyrling master would approve.."
On a more serious note he continued, "There is the matter of supplies. Do you have some of your own? You can pay the weyr for what you use.." Not like that one idiot that thought the materials were his to use at his every whim. R'ven never thought he was the type to hold a grudge, but thinking about that incident still made him grit his teeth in annoyance. "I'll chip in if – er.. " R'ven glanced down the trail, then back to Erilena, confusion clear on his features. "Where did they go?"
Trilaranth powered through the brush, leaving a small waking trail of snapped stems and bent branches in his wake. Above their heads the blurwing zipped back and forth, flitting between suckling at flowers and regarding the two hatchlings with a curiosity of it's own. It is a fast shiny. The brown snapped at the air as the blurwing came near, but it was far too fast for him to catch. It irked him, on a personal level, to admit that he wouldn't be able to capture it for Feyrianth.
With an stubborn burst Trilaranth put on some speed, his footfalls thundering through the jungle as he broke around trees and hopped over upraised roots. The problem, however, with being as bulky and powerfully build at himself was that it took a great deal to slow down once he got going. As such, when a stream appeared in his path, Trilaranth dug his claws into the ground but it did little to prevent him from plunging into the water with an expressive explosion of water. A bit dazed, the brown blinked around from where he sat neck-deep in the water.
The blurwing zipped around his head, nearly brushing up against his muzzle before taking off into the trees..

The complement made Erilena blush and she shook her head in half denial. “Thanks but I have a lot to learn. I suppose I do well enough but really they are not that hard to make. You just have to watch a few things and have a good steady hand.” The green rider smiled up at the smith as he released the bead. He was kind of charming really. Then her classmate started up with the teasing again. Oh ho. Two could play that game. Erilena playfully pouted as he spoke. “Oh I only thieve on the weekends and besides the Weyrlingmaster doesn’t have to know. She doesn’t seem to be the type to approve of anything really.” The words where offered with a playful lit on the tone and she didn’t remove her hand from his arm although she had stopped the begging. She had already roped him into helping her. She was fairly certain she had anyway.
When R’ven brought up the manner of supplies she opened her mouth to comment and then closed it immediately her eyes widening. Was he really offering to chip in? Erilena was floored. That was so incredibly sweet of him, but really he didn’t need to. She could get supplies. The green rider was going to explain when the Brownweyrling paused and glanced behind him. The confusion in his gaze could only mean a couple of things and Erilena took a peak behind them as well. That’s what she got for flirting. A disappearing Feyrianth. She reached out to her green’s mind and got an amused answer. Immediately she started giggling and took R’ven’s larger hand in hers. “This way. Come on.” Tugging gently she began to jog down the path Trilaranth had unwittingly cleared for them.
Feyrianth had been right on her brother’s heels, but the burst of speed left her slightly behind. She arrived at the stream just in time to witness her brother’s tumble. Giving a bugle of excitement she leapt into the water right beside him, soaking herself and causing the blurwing to flit around droplets. The water was cool but not too cold. Floating over to Trilaranth the four winged green crooned and licked his muzzle. Oh that was fun. I suppose blurwing shinys are too fast to catch. It was fun though. She felt her bonded’s question and she enthusiastically gave a picture of their current location along with the comment that her brother had made a quite lovely path. Turning back to Trilaranth she nuzzled under his chin. Thank you for trying to catch it. You did not hurt yourself did you? Feyrianth proceeded to poke him here with her muzzle, just to be sure.
Erilena had made it to the stream bank by that time and she shook her head in amusement. Turning back to her companion she made a face. “Sorry for that Feyrianth seems to have gotten your brown involved in her game of trying to catch anything that glimmers.” Looking up at R’ven she bounced in place. “Before you asked me about supplies remember? Well my father promised to provide me with all the materials to make the glass if I promise to send him quite a few dragon shell beads to sell. He thinks they will be really popular with the holders and I think he is right. Who wouldn’t what even a tiny piece of a dragon? Even if it is just a shell shard. In return for the materials for the glass, I send him a few beads. Perfect deal. The only thing I’ll have to pay for is the metal and that I don’t mind. I only need a few tools and it shouldn’t be too expensive.”
Smiling she knelt at the river bank to pick up a interesting looking stone. Turning it over in her fingers she regarded R’ven again. “So you’ll help me then?” To be honest Erilena was really looking forward to spending more time with him. He was just so genuine. She liked that. Tossing the stone gently at him she smiled. Feyrianth was only half listening to her bonded’s conversation. She was more concerned with making sure her favorite brown brother was still up for playtime.

The startled expression on Erilena's face made R'ven's mind stumble. He thought back about what he had just said to try and figure out why she was looking as if he had suddenly spouted nonsense about Feyrianth being a purple wherry. He felt his pulse jump in a sensation still foreign to him – being nervous. Most often than not, R'ven found himself feeling the over protective brother or the mature adult surrounded by irresponsible giddy children; very calm and controlled (it really was little wonder why he preferred to spend his time around the drudges than those around his age). This was different. The protectiveness was there, always, but now there came the feelings that he usually placed on the back burner..
Before he could work any of it out, Erilena had his hand and was leading him along the fresh trail. Oh right, the disappearing dragons – R'ven shifted his mind to the current matter at hand and not the hand in his (of which he lost contact with somewhere before reaching the stream). He took in the sight of the two water-logged dragons and a small grin worked it's way onto his features. He touched Trilaranth's mind and met the brown's dazed thoughts. Not watching where you are going again?
I saw it coming. Trilaranth answered with a snort that disturbed the water around him. My stopping, however, could use some work. The brown dipped down in the water so that only the top of his head skimmed the surface. A patient crocodile, watching his prey... the lovely green floating and teasing him so playfully. Underneath the water his muscles tensed in preparation. Maybe when we can fly, we will be fast enough to catch it. And as she inquired about his well being, Trilaranth suddenly burst through the water, standing up on his hindlegs – I know a shiny I can catch! –and tackling his four winged sister under the water. You!
R'ven watched with amusement from the shore, idly shaking his head and reminding his dragon they shouldn't linger in the jungle. "That's fine, it's better than his usual pastimes.." The smith's expression said it all, matching hers in an exaggeration of being weary complete with a soft sigh. Young dragons could be quite the handful. It only lasted a second, as Erilena's bouncy demeanor again drew a soft smile out of him. He nodded in understanding to the explanation. "Sounds like you have everything worked out."
The smith startled back a step, hand coming up to capture the rock against his chest. Not exactly a catch, but it worked. He rolled the rock off into his palm and held it out. His head tilted as his hazel eyes examined the stone, then shifting to look at the feature in his other hand. An eyebrow rose and he turned the look onto Erilena – holding back a laugh behind a calm smile. Silently he questioned her, exactly what was he suppose to do with these things.
"How can I say no to such a rogue's charms?" He playfully responded while tossing the stone back to his fellow weyrling. "When are you planning to do this?" He'd express his interest in learning about glass crafting later when he could actually watch her at work. "Assuming you have to wait for the supplies from your father.. I could probably talk my Uncle into sending the metal for a reduced price."
He came up alongside her, crouching down nearby to idly flick at rocks surrounding the water's edge. Up came a flat one between thumb and forefinger. An decidedly challenging look was sent Erilena's way.

Erilena giggled at the playing dragons. They where so adorable. Shame when they grew they would lose some of that youthful innocence. If the war came to Selenitas they might lose a lot more than innocence. Shuddering at that though she pushed it from her mind to turn back towards her companion.
Lucky she turned to. She was just in time to catch the rock R'ven returned to her, along with the words he offered. Rogue huh? That was the first time anyone ever called her something like that. Funny how well it fit right now. Smiling brightly she almost bounced in place, tucking the returned object into her bag. Time schedule hmm. “Well I do have to wait for supplies. After I get them I suppose we can work out a time together. We have lessons and such but I am sure we can work around them.” Yes schedules would have to be worked around. Spending time with R’ven was something she found herself looking forward to however. So it wouldn’t be to much of a hassle for her. “I can hold Tril’s feather to if you want. I have the space and we do live in the same place currently.” Erilena gestured to the bag at her hip. No sense in him holding it the entire time.
The offer of a discounted price made her tilt her head as if considering. “That is extremely nice of you by the way. To offer a possible discount. I’m grateful.” Really she was. Metal was never really inexpensive after all. The green weyrling watched curiously as her fellow brown rider reached down to flick at the stones. When he rose the challenging look in his eye was not lost on her and she grinned. Ah a contest of skipping stones? As a holdbrat she had often played that game. Although, she had never really been any good at it. Never quite learned the perfect technique like some of her peers. Nevertheless she was determined to try. Let it never be said that Erilena turned down a challenge. Returning the smile she picked a similar stone from the bank and weighed it carefully in her palm.
With a flick she cast it out over the water, far away from the cavorting dragonets. It skipped twice before sinking to the bottom. Not too bad. She usually just got one. Turning to R’ven she tilted her chin upwards and regarded him with mock arrogance. “Beat that!”
Feyrianth regarded Trilaranth with something close to confusion as he submerged himself, but quickly she caught on. Not quickly enough to move away from the initial strike though and she squealed in happy surprise. Oh no I have been caught by the shiny catcher! She exclaimed in glee before wiggling out of his grasp and splashing further away from him.
Crouching she wriggled her rump before pouncing towards the brown and aiming a wave of water at him. Got you. She sang happily before dancing out of the way of another lunge. So fun was her clutch brother. Rearing up on her own two hind legs she placed her own forefeet on her brother and shoved softly. Now I have caught you. She snag before leaning down to lick his muzzle. Tag your it. Pushing away from him, she cavorted through the water in an attempt to avoid a return touch.

"How about the mornings, or the evenings." R'ven offered in a light tone as he went back to picking through rocky side of the stream. "I'd rather avoid the forge during the height of the day." He wouldn't mind it, no, but he didn't know how much experience Erilena had being in a forge. Having her faint due to heightened temperatures wouldn't look good (despite how guilty he would feel) – likely it might draw the concern of the higher up in the Weyr and they could lose access to the forge all together.
Rocking back on his heels, now a new flat rock in his grasp as he grinned over at Erilena. The feather was held out, twirled around so to show off it's lusterous quality. "Trying to smooth talk me out of this treasure too? I'm on to you." His eyes narrowed, playfully accusing, before he lodged the feather between his ear and head. It felt funny, and probably looked silly, but that wasn't the point now, wasn't it – to make Erilena laugh a bit more.
While making a mental note to... oh, how was he going to ask his Uncle for a discounted price. He couldn't write a letter to send, and didn't really know anyone that could – could his Uncle even read? R'ven mentally chided himself for the lack of forethought. Well, he would just buy the metal himself and claim it was the discounted metal.
Trilarnath folded his wings in front of his face to avoid the majority of the splash. He lifted them up, his short muzzle peeking out from underneath the rivets of water running off the leathery skin. He looked just in time to catch her trying to shove him over; he could have stayed upright, could have..
Instead, Trilaranth rolled with Feyrianth's push, disappearing under the water after she 'tagged' him. There he settled low against the rocks, plotting his next move – and mentally prodding his bonded's mind for what kind of game tag was. Something about touching a person, yelling tag, but he were not allowed to do tag-backs. It had to be someone new. And so, the brown considered this piece of information while pulling himself toward the shore.
R'ven was just about to toss his own rock, when he spotted the head of the brown beginning to emerge from the water. The impression across the bond was a set determination and his focus was on.. Erilena. Distracted by this, and still mid throw, R'ven's rock cut straight into the water with a soft plop. Shards, so much for that.
Trilaranth, paying to mind to the small mental flailing coming from his bonded, darted out in a rush of water to stretch his muzzle out and give Erilena's ankle a lick. Immediately he bounced away like Feyrianth had – except he did not illustrate any of the green's grace. His steps came down heavy, almost to a ground shaking quality had he been a more fully grown dragon. She is it! I do not want to be it. This he told to both Feyrianth and R'ven, splashing back into the water toward his sister.
"I think.. he's.. playing... tag?"

Erilena watched the dragons gamble in the water for a moment until R’ven spoke again. Mornings or evenings? Hmm evenings would probably fit her schedule just fine and they would miss the hottest points in the day. Smart. “Evenings would work out great for me.” She chimed in watching him twirl the gifted feather. His words caused her to raise her eyebrows and pout. “Ah darn and here I thought I was in the clear. Your much to smart for the likes of a thief like me.” She commented and then immediately dissolved into laughter as he stuck the object behind his ear. Oh Faranth he just looked too silly. Somehow she got the feeling that that was his intention.
Feyrianth paused momentarily as Trilaranth sunk under the water. Thrusting her own head under as well she watched his progress across the stream bed. Oh he was going after the humans? Of course! Why hadn’t she thought of that. Theirs should be playing too. Fun for all.
Pulling her head back up she waded into the shallows and crouched, at the ready, rump wiggling comically in the air. Really she looked more like an overgrown green puppy than a dragon. Playtime was just so much better with lots of people. Why shouldn’t she be excited? As Trilaranth rushed towards hers Feyrianth chirped in surprise and excitement. Oh hers was it~! They must avoid her now. Hurry Tril get away before you get tagged again. She called encouragingly to her bigger brother and bounced in place, all four wings extended and fluttering.
Erilena gave a triumphant cheer as R’ven’s rock plunked into the stream without skipping even once. Ha! She had won, even with her meager skills. Part of her wanted to chide him for possibly throwing the contest while part of her wanted to pat herself on the back for winning. There was no time to gloat however as she barely caught movement from the corner of her eye and she whirled to face it. The weyrling gave a yelp of surprise as Trilaranth rushed at her and then immediately blinked in confusion when instead of being tacked he licked her. Huh? Her companion’s words shed some light of the situation however and a decidedly mischievous smile lit her features. “Tag huh?” The false innocent quality of her voice should have been clue enough. Suddenly reaching forward she shoved lightly at R’ven’s chest.
“Your it! Your it!” Erilena called dancing backwards towards the man’s brown. “Hurry Tril. Hurry or he’ll catch us!” Sure she probably looked horribly silly but fun was fun. Why not enjoy it while she could. Being grown up was just so boring sometimes.
