Ok so maybe staying late at the infirmary tonight hadn’t been the best idea she ever had. Erilena frowned as she looked out over the dark sky. A flash of lighting sending her rushing back from the doorway. That sealed the deal. There was no way on Faranth’s green Pern she was going to cross a rope bridge in the middle of a thunderstorm. That meant she was just going to have to sleep in the infirmary. Which wasn’t really all that unusual for her anymore. Good thing the weyrling had prepared awhile ago for just these sorts of situations. It didn’t take her long to find an empty cot and get ready for bed. A lot of apprentices spent the night occasionally so it wasn’t anything new to her and with a quick explanation to Feyrianth she was soon asleep. Sadly that didn’t last for more than a few hours.
The weyrling tossed and turned, mumbling to herself in her sleep. Fists clutched at the blankets and she squirmed in the throws of a particularly vivid nightmare. The crash and rumble of thunder outside didn’t help matters any and when she finally awoke completely she was terrified. With a strangled cry she leapt out of bed and reached for Feyrianth. The green awoke with a snort and blinked sleepily around the new weyr, noting hers hadn’t come home. Lenamylove? What is wrong? The woman just shook her head violently and tired not to sob, burring her head into the blanket she had snatched from the bed. At a loss for the moment the four winged green snaked her neck around and shifted, wishing she could get to her bonded to comfort her properly. It is ok Lenalove. It is just a rumble storm. Erilena nodded sharply, squeezing her eyes shut in an attempt to block out the images from the dream as well as the din outside. Feyrianth shifted again and snorted softly. A quick peak into her bonded’s mind told her what she needed to know. Silly hers. If you are worried you should go see him. He is just down the hallways. I do not mind one bit. It will make you feel better. Never mind that she could clearly sense that Trilaranth was sleeping. If Trilaranth was asleep than there could not possibly be anything wrong with his. It made sense to Feyrianth but, well, hers wanted to go make sure and she wasn’t the type to dissuade.
Instead the green prodded her bonded’s mind gently. It’s okay. R’ven will not mind. Darya would be unhappy if she knew hers was walking around at night, but surely this once she could not be faulted? Erilena gave a final mental embrace to her dragon before slipping on a pair of socks and slipping out the door and through the quiet infirmary. The hallway was dark and she momentarily debated just turning around and going back into her room. A sudden crash of thunder had her sprinting the rest of her way to R’ven’s door however and she sharply rapped on it, breathing rapidly in her panic.
Thunder and her did not mix well. Erilena had been frightened of it for as long as she could remember. Why exactly she wasn’t totally sure but it sent her into near panics. Maybe it was sort of childish, but she was terrified. Her paranoia was only made worse by the dream she had had. Thus the desire to make sure R’ven was okay. She shivered outside his door as she waited, not from cold but from her anxiety. To late she realized she should have worn something different. Showing up in pajamas at your current boyfriend’s door didn’t exactly scream innocence. Even if she was wrapped in a blanket. For that matter what if this wasn’t the right door? Sel’n was one of his neighbors after all. That would just be awkward to no end.

The din of the storm had no effect on R'ven. The smith slept heavily and he didn't immediately rise at the sound of knocking. Trilaranth, too, slumbered without stirring. each breath deeply rumbling inside his chest. The sound echoed somewhere in the room. R'ven snoring, face down in his bed. The second round of insistent knocks drew out a twitch in his leg, the third enough to make him to jerk up onto his palms. A low grumbling of indistinct words fell from his lips as he blearily squinted at the dark room.
A fourth knocking, growing more distressed by the sounds of it, and R'ven fumbled to stand from his bed. The furs slipped away to reveal his.. full lack of night attire. Toned and bronze like a true southern born. It was nice to have his own room again, and it was normal for him to sleep in the buff – more so when it was hot. When in the barrack he had wore shorts just out of courtesy of his fellow candidates and weyrlings. Apparently nudity made some people uncomfortable. Grunting, R'ven rubbed wearily at his eyes to try and remove the crust. Heavy footfalls made their way over to the entrance. R'ven pulled open the door half-way. Who.. ? His eyes stared at nothingness, expecting a taller face, then dropped down to the figure huddling in a blanket.
"Lena.. ?" The word came out low, husky from a throat still raw from sleep. It took another rub of his eyes before he could focus more clearly on her face. She looked.. terrified? Shocked? Pale, at any rate. A rain chilled breeze blew in through the open door, careassing over his bared skin causing a faint shiver. Oh. Right. Modesty. R'ven yawned while reaching over to the nearby counter. An empty plate from his dinner earlier that night would do well enough. He lowered the arm, using the plate to shield his lower region from view.
"What.. what are you doing here?" Groggily he looked out beyond her. "What time is it?"

Concentrating on her own particular fears she didn’t immediately hear the door open. It wasn’t until R’ven spoke that Erilena turned around with a jump. For a few moments her fear was forgotten in favor of shock. It was the smith yes, but he wasn’t wearing anything. Not one stitch.
Blushing a spectacular shade of scarlet she immediately averted her gaze to the floor, allowing her hair to cover her face in an attempt to hide her embarrassment. Okay not exactly what she expected. R'ven's lack of reaction to the whole situation might have amused her if she hadn’t been trying so hard /not/ to look. The words caused her to cautiously peek out of the curtain of her hair. At least he had some covering now but it was still more of him than she had ever seen before. “Uh time?” She managed to choke out. Oh shards that was eloquent. “I’m not sure. Real late.”
Raising her head and pushing her hair back from her face Erilena opened her mouth to clarify when a particularly loud crash of thunder caused her to shriek and throw the blanket over her head. Trembling she backed up until her back was against the stone wall of the hallway. “I…I stayed late at the infirmary and it started storming and I couldn’t go over the bridge so I stayed there. I had a horrible nightmare and I…I…”
The words came out in quick succession, her voice rising with each word until at the end I was probably a near squeak. Sinking down the wall halfway, she tried to work out her trembling. Peeking out from under the blanket hesitantly she fixed wide eyes on R’ven. “I wanted to make sure you where okay.” Another flash of thunder and a crash had her hiding back under the blanket like a little kid. If she wasn’t so frightened she would have been mortified at how childish she probably appeared. Alas such things where not important at this time. Scary storm was scary.

It was dark, and R'ven was still half-asleep, so the brilliant blush went without notice. R'ven shoulder found the frame, one hand still holding the edge of the door and the other the round plate. He expressed another yawn, trying his best to direction his gaping mouth at his shoulder to be polite. Right, as if he had to bother as he stood there without the slightest concern over his state of .. undress.
Words, words. Ugh, she was babbling at him.. and in that high pitched kind of tone that girl's got when they were either embarrassed or scared. It was too late, or maybe to early, for him to be deciphering anything she had just said. What he did notice was the way she suddenly shrunk against the far wall when a flash of lightning light up the place. Scared of the storm. R'ven smiled, but luckily enough he was too tired to chuckle with amusement at her fear.
"Come on then," He pushed open the door all the way, turning to walk back into the room – the plate still in front and he made no efforts to move it to his posterior. "I'll get... dressed." Yeah, that's what he needed to do. R'ven lightly shook his head, trying for the life of him to wake up. Everything felt so surreal. He tossed the plate onto his dresser before slipping into a pair of shorts and shirt. Shards he really needed some klah. Dmitri usually brought food or a drink when he dropped by..
Oh yeah, R'ven mind suddenly turned back to the matter at hand. Again his hand was at his eyes at he moved back in Erilena's direction. "Lena – what are you doing here?" There was not ire behind the words, just genuine curiosity. His free hand came up, palm out at her, "Go slow, this time. I'm not really.. here.."

Erilena didn’t move not a twitch, until he bide her to enter. Even then she hesitated, at a loss. He hadn’t sounded mad but he looked so tired. Probably to be expected. As she fought with herself over moving or not another crash made the decision for her and she quickly ducked into his weyr, blanket still tightly wound about her. Pausing there right inside the door the weyrling averted her eyes so he could get dressed. Distraction needed a distraction of some type. Her mind was very willing to come up with distractions but not ones that where productive in any sort of way. Did he have to answer the door naked?
For that matter did he have to have such a nice…surprisingly it was Feyrianth who interrupted that thought with a concerned question. Are you okay Lenalove? Yeah I’m fine Fey. Just got to R’ven’s you can go to sleep now. Everything is fine. The happy pulse she got in return made her smile. Good. I am glad. Tell Ven I said hi okay? Gripping the blanket tighter as a flash lit up the room she gave a mental nod. Yeah sure no problem sweetheart.
Taking a step away from the doorway she hazarded a look at the smith, relieved that now he was dressed. That made things much less….awkward. Turning back, Erilena closed the door behind her softly and then took a hesitant step towards him. His upturned palm was noted. A gesture for her to speak slowly? Yes his words clarified it and she cleared her throat. “I’m not sure. I mean well. I stayed late at the infirmary studying. I’ve done that a lot lately. When I was finally ready to leave the storm had started. I didn’t want to cross the bridge in the storm.” Dropping her head she bit her lip. “So I decided to sleep at the infirmary. I had a nightmare. It scared me and I wanted to make sure you where okay. I didn’t mean to wake you. Ok that’s not exactly true. I did, but just to make sure you where okay. I’m sorry. It’s stupid.” Squeezing her eyes shut the weyrling tried to stop herself from trembling but didn’t quite succeed.
Another crash of thunder had her striding forward to throw her arms around R’ven’s midsection. “I don’t like storms. I never have.” That was probably silly come to think of it but they filled her with terror. Had since she was tiny. Even still as she got older she still slept on her parents bedroom floor. They never tried to dissuade her either. In fact her father had always just looked guilty when it happened. She had never asked.
“I shouldn’t have woke you up. Forgive me?”

R'ven settled a inquisitive gaze on Erilena the entire time she explained, at length, why she ended up at his door well past midnight. And then she suddenly was apologizing and the smith openly frowned. He hadn't meant to be rude – just he wasn't processing anything very well at the moment. Slowly it was making a vague sort of sense, but likely he wouldn't fully understand the situation until the next morning.. well after breakfast and Erilena retold the events.
"Why would you be worried about me?" He ran a hand through his short hair. "I'm not trying to cross the bridge in a storm. That's just asking for an accident." Okay, so, the information given was getting a bit mixed up in his head, but at least he was trying. And – oof. R'ven was mid stretch when Erilena attached herself. Such a tight squeeze too. She felt warm, cozy, good – yeeaah, she needed to sit down somewhere and not hug him. R'ven settled his arms around her shoulders and eased them in a shuffle to make the short distance to the small couch.
"Sit. Want me to get you some.. uhm.. " His head turned this way and that, realizing that he had nothing to offer. Even something as simple as klah would require him to make a trip to the kitchens. Shards, he couldn't even offer her a blankets because of the one she already held around her shoulders. ".. a.. pillow? You could stretch out here.. or on the bed.. since you can't get to your room."
His fingers smoothed the hair at the back of his head, a soft.. tired.. chuckle finally coming out. "What is it about the storm that scares you?"

Erilena loosened her hold on R’ven’s waist as he started to shuffle them back towards the couch but she didn’t quite let go. Sit? But she didn’t want to sit. A small whimper left her throat, probably unheard with the wind and such blowing outside, but she released him reluctantly to sink onto the couch. Gripping her blanket tight she stared up at him. “Pillow? No I’m fine.” Honestly she didn’t think a pillow would help her any. There would be little to no sleeping for her until the storm mostly blew itself out. Tilting her head up at the smith she considered his offer. Bed or couch. She could stay. Flinching at each boom the weyrling was tense, but thankfully most of the trembling had subsided now. “I can just stay here. It’s fine.” She patted the couch briefly with one hand. “Thanks for letting me stay. I don’t mean to be a bother.” He looked so tired. She briefly worried at her bottom lip again.
R’ven’s chuckle caused her to lean back and offer him a half smile in return. How to answer his question. What exactly was it about storms that frightened her? The noise? The lightning? The violence some of them possessed. To be completely honest it was a bit of all of it. Briefly Erilena considered before offering. “I’m not really sure. I just tense up so bad. It’s like I’m waiting for something completely awful to happen. I’m a bit better than I used to be. I used to get hysterical and sob. As I got older my reactions dulled a bit but the same fear is still there.” Her eyes had started to water a little and she blinked rapidly to clear them. Crossing her arms the greenrider hugged herself and dipped her head down to hide it behind her hair. If she was going to cry it wouldn’t be in front of him. Could wait until he went back to bed. “I think there has to be a reason for it. But I’m not sure what. If something happened I don’t remember. Maybe I don’t want to.” Her voice held a bit of a tremble on the last sentence, even though she had worked so hard to omit it. That made her frown. No need for unnecessary worry.
Really that was the only way Erilena could rationalize the fear. Something had to have happened. It wasn’t like she was born hating storms this much. Right. Keeping her head bowed she fought the flinching by looking for something else to concentrate on. She settled for R’ven’s feet. They where just as large as the rest of him. Not surprising really.

That was.. quite the storm going on outside. R'ven had to wonder how he managed to sleep through such violent weather. At least it seemed that the fiercest storms always left as quickly as they came. R'ven could only hope that this one would hold true that thought. His hazel eyes fell back onto his classmate – was was shaking like a leaf with tears threatening to fall. R'ven let a pensive frown form on his features before deciding to sink down onto the couch next to her.
At least sitting down they were on a little more even ground. He had long legs after all. R'ven wrapped his arms around her, blanket and all. It was doubtful she would refuse the physical contact considering she had been clinging to him a mere moment before. If it brought her a piece of comfort, who was he to deny her? Besides, sitting next to her would be easier to manage than having her pressed flush against him..
Whatever it was about the storms that scared her.. clearly it was alarming and R'ven didn't feel like prodding at the subject if only to keep Erilena from further upsetting herself (or him upsetting here, however you wanted to take it). A soft kiss was placed against the side of her shoulder, trying to draw her out of the hauntings stirring in her eyes. "Forget the storm." He set his chin on her shoulder, smiling while waiting for her gaze to meet his eyes instead of the floor. "How about a game?
"You wanted to ask me questions before, but you never really did. I could tell you something–" the word implied that the information would be secret if only to spark her playfulness to the surface. "–and then you can tell me something? Hm, I guess that doesn't sound much like a game. Never been good at thinking of games.. what do you think?" Anything to get her mind off the storm.

Gah moving feet. Erilena’s head snapped back up as R’ven moved to sit beside her. As she started to move to give him a bit more space, his arms captured her. Instead of moving away she moved closer, instinctively seeking comfort. The kiss he placed on her shoulder was unexpected but entirely welcome and the weyrling turned her head to half smile at the smith. Her hand reached out for his, fingers twining with his as he laid his chin on her shoulder. Much better. Her trembles began to subside and she blinked at him, smiling softly as R'ven spoke. Forget the storm? Yes that was a good idea. A very good idea. The offer of a game perked her interest and Erilena titled her head slightly. She was just about to ask what kind of game when he started speaking again. His voice was a comfort as well. She liked listening to it.
Wiggling closer she nodded slightly. “That sounds good actually.” She replied instantly, leaning her head against R’ven’s for a moment. “I like that game. It’s like twenty questions.” It would be a good game to get her mind off of the storm. It would requite thought and attention. Good choice. A spark of playfulness lit up Erilena’s eyes and she furrowed her brows in thought. “Huh what do I want to know.” Pulling her legs up underneath her, she adjusted her position slightly so as to be more comfortable. “Ummmm.” She intentionally drew the word out before squeezing his hand lightly. “I know. How about your favorite food?…no wait a second…Your favorite color.” Silly first question to ask probably but hey, it wasn’t fun to ask all the hard stuff first. Should build up to that. Small things where important to.
Storm, for the moment, forgotten she intently studied R’ven’s face. “I know they are kind of lame questions but I want to know. I promise they’ll get better.” She made a face before tilting her head and awaiting his response. In the back of her mind she was already formulating a few other questions. They where thrust aside however as he started speaking. Must pay attention yes. One never knew when you could use the information given.

R'ven leaned back against the couch, letting Erilena make herself comfy as he watched. His own position became slouched so he could rest the back of his head on the top of the couch. The smith did well to suppress a yawn, but he couldn't fully stop the way his eyes began to droop – even if they were focus intently on Erilena. A brow managed to raise at her question.
"I believe you are the first person to ever ask me that." In fact, R'ven couldn't reply right away because he had never dwelt over the matter. "The color of your eyes?" He smiled, eyes sparking with withheld mirth. After a moment he gave a soft chuckle, rubbing the side of his face as he again pondered over the question. "I suppose.. that.. rust color. Burnt red kind of.. "
He drew her hand up to his chest, busying himself with trailing fingertips along her forearm with his free hand. Perhaps he should of felt nervous, or excited, about having his girlfriend paying him a late night visit. However, R'ven mind continued to be occupied with keeping himself awake – let alone run away with ideas of fooling around. "I guess it's my turn to ask a questions. Ooh–"
His voice jumped a notch as his large lionesque feline, Ca'tauri, leapt onto his lap. Claws, claws, careful with the claws. R'ven eased her to his thigh, the multi-colored cat stretched out to sniff curiously at the newcomer, purring all the while. "Do you.. like.. felines?"

Erilena titled her head as she examined R’ven’s expression. He looked so tired. Poor guy. He didn’t have to stay up on account of her. It was really sweet of him to do so though. Her eyebrow raised slightly at his first sentence however. She was the first person to ask him his favorite color? Seriously? That was surprising. Then the smith made his comment and she rolled her eyes playfully and shoved at his chest. “That was very cheesy but you get points anyway.” Giggling she watched him rub the side of his face. Sleepy boyfriend was sleepy. “Rust? Burnt red?” She repeated and tried to mentally conjure up the color he was talking about. “That would look really nice on you actually. Good choice.” Gave her ideas. Idly she watched as his fingers trailed along her arm. Smiling she leaned forward just as something huge and furry leapt up into his lap.
With a small mep sound she shrank back and then blinked at the creature currently occupying the brownrider’s lap. That had to be the biggest domestic feline she’d ever seen. Erilena outstretched a hand towards the now purring multicolored cat. “She’s gorgeous.” Smiling she scratched behind the cat’s ears. “Yes I do like felines, and canines, not too fond of birds though. I suppose they are okay but they don’t cuddle.” Clicking her tongue she rubbed under Ca’tauri’s chin. “Kitty kitty is oh so pretty. ~” She sang in a soft singsong. Rubbing down the feline’s back the weyrling again turned her attention to R’ven catching him in mid yawn. Frowning she reached up and flicked his nose. He was doing an excellent job of redirecting her from the storm. In fact she hadn’t thought of it even once in these past few moments.
“R’ven if you’re tired you need to sleep. You don’t have to keep yourself awake on my account.” Her voice came across as slightly scolding but there was enough light in her eyes to clue him into the fact that she wasn’t really angry with him. “Come on handsome. I’ll tuck you in if you want.” Giving the cat a final pat Erilena stood and leaned over his lap to kiss his forehead. The lightning flash that lit up the room was not unnoticed, and her eyes closed in response as she readied herself for the crash that always followed. Because she was ready for it she flinched only slightly and then opened one eye to regard the smith. “Coming?” That counted as a question right?

All it took was a touch behind the feline's ears before Ca'tauri moved over to climb right into Erilena's lap. Her front paws settled against Erilena's sternum as she raised raised herself up to first sniff at the weyrling's face.. then to unabashedly rub the sides of her furry face against the humans. Marking her. Her's now. A thunderous purr continued to thrum as the feline arched into each touch. What a wonderful human.
R'ven jerked from the nose flick as it made contact. His hand came up, grasping with hers as he rested back against the couch. A little too late to avoid the flicking, but he kept hold of her fingers none the less to detour any repeated attempts. A smile graced his features as he watched Erilena playfully sing to the feline. Ca'tauri's eyes were slitted in bliss as she bumped along the underside of Erilena's jaw.
"Her name is Ca'tauri, she's... very affectionate." R'ven planted his large hand over the feline's face, making her roll over onto her side so she wasn't thoroughly blocking Erilena. She didn't seem to mind, purring all the while and even licking at R'ven's palm before he withdrew his hand. "Eats about as much as I do, if you couldn't tell. Big ol' lug of fur."
R'ven closed his eyes as Erilena leaned in, kissing his forehead which caused him to chuckle. His arm snaked around her waist, tugging his classmate down a bit so he could steal a kiss. "Are you kidding?" He asked playfully, cue teasing glint to his eyes. "All the guys would laugh to know my girlfriend came over during the night and all I did was fall asleep."
He pulled her half onto his lap, smirking when Ca'tauri in turn hopped back onto Erilena's lap. "And that's not much of a question. Try again?"

Erilena gave R’ven a playful look as he snaked his arm about her waist and redirected her to steal a kiss. Maybe not quite as sleepy as she thought but he was definitely sleepy. The greenrider thought as she enthusiastically returned his kiss. She giggled softly. “All ‘the guys’ would still be jealous even if all you did do was fall asleep. ~” She teased softly in return and then found herself suddenly pulled half onto his lap. Hmmm.
Trying to wake himself up? Blinking up at him she nuzzled his neck just as Ca’tauri leapt onto her lap. Smiling at the furry monster, Erilena scooted back so she was entirely in the smith’s lap. She was careful not to jostle the large cat so much. She really was huge and huge cat meant huge claws. Idly she stroked the feline and leaned back against R’ven’s chest. “Hey it was a question even if it wasn’t a very good one.” Erilena complained as she wiggled her fingers in his, still smug that her flick had made contact this time. Ha.
Pursing her lips the weyrling tried to think of a question. Hard to do when you where comfortably snuggled with your boyfriend and had a massive cat demanding your attention. Scratching behind Ca’tauri’s ears with her unoccupied hand, Erilena clucked her tongue lightly. “Okay handsome. Ummm. How many girlfriends did you have at Hyphen? Furthermore what kind of girl doesn’t ask you your favorite color? That’s like, clearly the most important question you could ever ask.”
Okay so the last line was entirely playful and not at all serious but she wasn’t in a serious mood anymore either. Proximity to the smith and happiness seemed to do that to her. As she waited for his answer the weyrling turned her head towards his and pressed a soft kiss against R’ven’s neck. “I’m wondering why they ever let you go.”

In hindsight pulling Erilena into his lap wasn't the best of ideas. Yet the smith was disinclined to move her. His arms around her waist and her nuzzling at his neck – yeah, he wasn't going to listen to the little nagging voice in the back of his head any time soon. His brows lifted slightly at the new question; amused and the smile on his lips clearly stated that fact.
"Girlfriends.." He drawled thoughtfully while shifting his gaze up to the ceiling. As far as he could recall, at least from his perspective, he had never officially dated anyone. Girl's had been interested, he had been interesting, but it had be more or less a good deal of fooling around as hormones ran amuck. "I wouldn't say I've ever had one, because any girl that stuck around long enough was normally run off by my sisters. They were as protective over me as I was of them."
That and they usually drifted off on their own accord, finding him too plain and nice to be of any true interest. In a way it almost amused him how a guy with a bad attitude could easily sway a girl. It worked well enough for him. He didn't want to get attached to a girl that would just cut and run when she got bored of him. "I guess I had–" His voice paused, pulse jumping from the kiss at his neck. "–a few."
A hand smoothed over Erilena's back, "They weren't interested enough to know what color I liked." A soft chuckled as his hand moved up into her hair. "More of just a.. erm.. physical attraction. They didn't let me go, either, just moved on to more interesting things." The smith busied his hand with moving Erilena's hair to fall over one shoulder. He wasn't surprised that Erilena wanted to know about his past relationships. Not that he'd ever understand why it mattered to know. Girl's placed importance on funny things. "And since I am very uncreative. What about you, line of suitors still waiting for your return to the Hold?"

“Never?” Erilena asked softly and a shudder ran through her. One that had nothing at all to do with the storm as R’ven ran his hand over her back. “Sounds like you had your own little gang of protectors. I believe it. Girls can be horribly mean to each other. We know just what to say to make things get nasty quick.” A soft smile graced her features as the smith’s hand moved to her hair.
The weyrling closed her eyes in response. A few hmm?, and they didn’t even have the decency to learn anything about him? Purely physical attraction likely, and really her classmate was extremely attractive. But there was so much more to him than that. Like his likes and dislikes, his hobbies, what he thought, his habits. Lots of stuff. Oh well their loss was her gain clearly. Happy with this she sighed and tilted her head up to brush her lips lightly over his ear. Ca’tauri was forgotten for the moment and her hand moved from the cat to brush his arm instead.
“Well I don’t see what they could have found more interesting. Fickle females they didn’t deserve you anyway.” The greenrider gave a snort and then stiffened at his question. Yes she should have seen this coming. Really she should just bite the bullet and tell him. The worst that could happen was what? Rejection. Giving a deep sigh Erilena moved her hands to twine them with both of the smith’s. Better now than later right? Trying to push her nerves aside the weyrling started speaking. “I’ve had a few people interested. Never went anywhere. Really I only had one real serious suitor about two turns ago.” She pulled slightly away from R’ven then and bowed her head. “I wasn’t doing well in any craft I decided to try. I got bored real easy. So my parents decided to try and join me off like my sister. My mother knew a woman who had a son a turn or so older than me. His name was Kentvin and he was nice enough. Charming, good looking, seemed sincere but he was also very opinionated.”
Leaning back against him she swallowed. “Things where okay. We courted for awhile and about 5 months later he asked my father if he could ask me to be his wife. My parents where ecstatic and well… I felt like I was such a failure to them. So I accepted. It was a huge mistake. I never really loved him. I liked him sure, but there was nothing there. He wanted things from me that I wasn’t ready or willing to give him. He kept trying to pressure me into sleeping with him. I kept putting it off saying I wanted to wait until we where joined when really I just couldn’t see myself with him. He began to get frustrated with me.”
Erilena gave a soft snort then and squeezed his hand. “About two months before the joining I caught him with one of my holder friends. We had a huge fight right there and I broke it off. I was relieved. I didn’t want to join with him. My dad and brother where furious with him. Soon I learned that my friend wasn’t the only one he had been dabbling with. I never spoke to him again.” The weyrling laughed humorlessly. “I just felt like such a failure when it happened. I couldn’t even get that right.” Attempting a smile at R’ven she leaned back against his chest. “So my romantic past is a bit of a flop. If I do have people waiting for my return, which I doubt, they are waiting in vain.” There was a definite tenseness to her body now as she waited for some type of reaction from him. Yes it was her turn to ask a question but really none where coming to mind. Instead she disengaged one of her hands from his to stroke the previously neglected feline.
