Kaaoloth made a lazy barrel roll causing Sel'n to lean closer to his neck and grumble in slight irritation. I’m dizzy enough lately without you being a snot Kaao. Level out damn it. He smacked the side of the brown’s neck as they righted the large dragon rumbling good naturedly. Well who's fault is it that you are dizzy in the first place? Oh that‘s right yours. The brownrider rolled his eyes before hazarding a downwards gaze as they swept over the river. Trust it to Kaaoloth to pick now to bathe. Had he had warning he might have been able to dredge up a little bit of help. As it was now he would be stuck bathing the beast by himself. Which was an immense chore considering only one of his arms had full function. Idly he pressed his palms into his dragon’s neck as they started to descend.
Kaaoloth caught sight of the river bank as he broke over the tree line and a thunderous croon emerged from his throat. No doubt a extremely happy greeting to whoever was on the beach. Sel’n tilted his head slightly as he caught sight of the lounging dragon. Oh Rinagth. One of the greens Kaaoloth seemed to humor more than others. Great. Just what he wanted to deal with. Flirting in addition to having to bathe his dragon. Oh hush Fussypants. It’s not as bad as all that. You are just going through your grumpy time again. Relax, loosen up. It will pass. Pass, pass. Vanity echoed from her position curled around his wrist. The green mandyr playing watch dog for Kalierre. Good at her job was Vanity and best of all it got her praise and above all praise from her Lust. The only mandyr you would obediently follow off a cliff. Sel’n thought drolly earning a hiss and nip in response. Neither of which helped his mood any as Kaaoloth back winged.
Good afternoon my dear Rinagth. Sunning are you? Mine has come to bathe me. Perhaps I can humor him into bathing you as well? Not that you need it. You look as stunning as ever. The large brown’s words where light and obviously flirtatious. Which caused Sel’n to mentally gag and roll his eyes. Laying it on a little thick there aren’t you? She doesn’t look proddy to me so easy on the sugar or you’ll give me a stomach ache. The older rider shot to the brown as he slid off the dragon’s neck and expertly removed the straps. Freed from the riding leathers Kaaoloth craned his neck and rumbled to the green again. Is yours around? I hope so. He can distract mine from fussing to much. Faranth knows mine needs adequate distractions these days. The silly man broods worse than Hepaticath I swear. A flick of his tail after that statement and his eyes went to the water. Yes he wanted a bath but he was having a conversation. Would be rude to just up and leave on her. Wish you where that concerned about being rude to me sometimes. Hush Fusspant.

Tiny glimmers of bright yellow danced and flared across Rinagth’s hide as she stretched indolently, entirely too smug that she’d lured her rider outside for the day to even be irritated that he’d brought Wraith, and even the silly feline out with them. In fact even now J’on was busy fishing the panicked cat out of a tree, a situation Rinagth found most amusing in its failure, weren’t felines supposed to be good at climbing?
A familiar croon took the green’s attention off her entertainment immediately, turning her muzzle up to track Kaaoloth. Far more interesting than the useless cat, as one of her males should be. Yes, Rinagth had quite a collection of males she considered hers now, and was always looking to add one or two, or maybe even three more to her conquests. Why hello Kaaoloth. Rinagth took up a flirtatious tone from the outset, flicking her tail idly, and ruffling her wings to draw attention to these most lovely assets. It’s been sooo long since I’ve seen you. Have you been hiding from me? If you have I’ll be upset. In fact Rinagth could have seen the brown only the previous day and still make that claim, not because she wouldn’t recall, Rinagth had a memory for male dragons that was astounding, especially in view of how little else she had a memory for, but just because even a day was so very long for her to go without seeing a handsome dragon.
Oh you don’t need to do that Kaaoloth, yours looks grumpy enough already with only you to wash. My J’on always fusses over bathing me, which is very silly of him when he washes himself every single day. More than once some days, and it takes longer than my bath sometimes, even though he’s a lot smaller than me. A light rumble accompanied the statement and for a moment Rinagth’s head snaked back to look in the direction her rider had gone in a few minutes ago. He’s here, somewhere, looking for the only feline ever to be scared of trees. I doubt he’ll stop yours fussing though, if their in the same place they might fuss more.
Thank you so much Rina. J’on emerged from the trees with a purring tabby cat in his arms, knowing full well Rinagth had been letting him here everything she said on purpose. He’d been trying hard to ignore the side of the conversation he could hear, on the basis that Rina was only letting him hear to annoy him, and to let him know that one of her males had stopped by. ‘Good afternoon Sel’n. I see you got complained at until you acquiesced to washing a dragon too. Where are those dragon mad weyrbrats when you want them, hey?’ J’on’s tone was joking and the smile he offered just a little wry, only a few turns ago he was one of those dragon crazy weyrbrats, and a dirty hide to scrub a little bit of paradise. ‘I’ll have to warn you though, be prepared to drown in sugar, Rina’s in a flirty mood, as always.’ J’on gave his dragon an affectionate look, which didn’t fade, much, when the green snorted and flared her wings. Kaaoloth is one of my browns, it is right that he treats me with respect. More so than my rider does. Rinagth rose and deliberately turned her back on J’on, moving closer the river’s edge, and not so incidentally closer to Kaaoloth. J’on just laughed and scratched Yu’s head, making the feline purr even more loudly.

Kaaoloth craned his neck, his eyes whirling in pleasant shades as he listed to Rinagth speak. Her tone only spurred his desire to flirt with her further. Hide from you? My dear beautiful Rinagth why would I ever do such a thing. I am afraid my fussy rider got us grounded for a bit. This is why we have not been at wing drills. But I look forward to seeing your lovely hide on a daily basis soon. He flicked his wings once, folding them smoothly along his back and craning his head around to view his rider. A thread of amusement whirling through his eyes as he felt his bonded’s response to his offer. Sel’n simply rolled his eyes and motioned sharply towards the water. “Get down there you big lug. Sooner you get in the water, sooner I can get this over with. I am also not bathing your girlfriend. Sorry wher face. You’ll have to find some other poor sap to sand her hide for you.” The brown snorted at those words and brought his head back around to face the green as she spoke again. His was far less interesting than a pretty, intelligent female after all.
The large brown parted his jaws in a draconic grin at her words. Oh Rina my dear. Selmine is always grumpy. This is nothing new. You should have seen him last week. Terrible. I think he could use a good soaking in fact. Might help his temperament a little. Could hardly make it worse. Kaaoloth turned his head to look at the trees then rumbled in his throat as she spoke of the feline. A feline that is afraid of trees? That is strange. I thought all felines liked trees. Apparently not. The male snorted softly then. Well then they can grump together. Would give them something to do. Silly humans. I do not see why they are so uptight especially in the presence of such a lovely female. Flawed they both must be. He teased lightly dipping his muzzle to nudge his causing the Sel’n to stumble forward and aim a smack at his muzzle in retaliation. Rumbling the brown turned whirling eyes to the tree line as J’on emerged.
Sel’n turned as well shooting a glare at Kaaoloth for good measure and then offered the greenrider a slight smile. “Afternoon J’on. Yes Kaaoloth doesn’t seem to know the word no. I just bathed him a couple days ago but he insists he needs another one.” A soft amused snort was given to at the weyrbrat remark. “Yes had I been thinking I would have gone to try and flush a few out. Certainly makes things easier on me.” Looking back at his brown he gave a sigh. Too much dragon. Especially with only one completely functional arm.
His eyes flicked back to the other male then and he grinned. “Oh that’s just great. I already made a comment to Kaaoloth about that. I think I’m in trouble then. Might end up diabetic by the end of this bath.” The brownrider gave a light chuckle and turned to watch Rinagth rise, a eyebrow raising slightly. Kaaoloth stretched his neck out to lightly nuzzle at the green’s neck completely sure that she wouldn’t reject the attention. With a soft snort he nudged her shoulder, clear affection whirling in his eyes. Moving slightly way from her the brown entered the water almost elegantly standing in the shallows and offering a croon to the green.
Sel’n in turn eyed the feline in J’on’s arms with slight suspicion. “You’re not planning on bathing the feline to are you?” Vanity eyed the feline with clear suspicion as well from her safe place in her bonded’s hair. Ewww bad furball. Go go. No want furball. She said with a soft hiss, her little head barely peeking out from Sel’n’s graying hair.

Rinagth looked inordinately pleased at the news Kaaoloth would be at wing drills with her. I do look forward to seeing you there too, Kaaoloth. The green answered coyly, looking sideways at the brown. Yours is cute when he’s grumpy. She commented, turning her head to examine Sel’n with interest.Of course if he’s grumpy as often as you say that would be a good thing. she mused.
The green rumbled softly and flicked her tail as if to dismiss Yu entirely. Oh he likes to climb up the trees. Then he gets scared and cries until someone climbs up to get him down again. If he’s not watched he’ll go and do the same thing again and again. Rinagth snorted softly, a foolish feline indeed that creature. In response to Kaaoloth complimenting her Rinagth flared her wings slightly and made a show of stretching some more with an innocent air. Her? She was just stretching, she could hardly help it if a dragon wanted to look at her, and why not? She was quite lovely was she not?
J’on, you must make Kaaoloth’s less grumpy. The green instructed her rider without bothering to look at him. I need Kaao to pay attention to me, not a sulking human.
‘Oh I don’t think any dragon ever does know the meaning of the word no. I know Rina doesn’t especially when it comes to baths. If she had her way I’d do nothing but scrub her until there were great gaping holes in her hide. I keep telling her, with a hide like hers she doesn’t need scrubbing every day.’ J’on grinned carelessly, he might object to so much dragon washing on general grounds but on the whole Rinagth wasn’t big enough to seriously inconvenience him. Sel’n did have a pretty bad deal, he thought, with Kaaoloth being so big and Sel’n having only one good arm. That might have been the reason for such a great sigh.
‘Well Rinagth’s answer to a comment on overloading my sugar levels was to ignore me, so…’ J’on let his sentence trail off and shrugged. ‘What can you do?’ he asked rhetorically. He had to grin though at the way Kaaoloth played up to Rinagth’s vanity. It was fairly obvious by the way Rina arched her neck and crooned softly to the brown that she was pleased.
J’on chuckled and placed Yu back on the ground as if he’d forgotten the cat up until then. ‘Nope, Yu might be scared of heights but when it comes to baths he’s a typical feline.’ J’on replied leaning down to scratch the feline’s ears. A salamandyr’s head peered out of his pocket at Vanity’s speech and then vanished again. Not mine, not want. Baaaaaad! Wraith scolded sulkily and curled up tightly. ‘Wraith, you’re going to end up wet if you stay there.’ J’on warned his pet before turning back to Sel’n. ‘Well I’m no weyrbrat these days but you do look like you could use a hand. There’s so much of Kaaoloth to wash.’ J’on moved out into the water, rapidly abandoned by both feline and salamandyr as they realised what he was up to. Behind him Rinagth slipped into the water gracefully, letting the river support most of her weight as she curvetted around to get the pair of humans between her and Kaaoloth, offering the brown a low rumble as she did so. Look they had theirs trapped together, now thay could force the pair of them to stop being so grumpy.

Kaaoloth gave a rumbling laugh at Rinagth’s admission that his was /cute/ when he was irritated? Really? Titling his head the large dragon made a show of examining his rider. I do not know. He looks like the same old bag of bones to me. But if you say he looks cute I shall defer to your better judgment. Such beauty cannot be wrong. Stretching forward he gave her a soft croon his tail tip flicking out to brush lightly against the surface of the water in which he stood. The words he offered his green where quite purposely shared with his rider who rolled his eyes in response and fixed the brown with a venomous glare. Nice of you to have fun at my expense. Sel’n retorted with a bit or irritation, trying to keep the emotion from registering on his face. He wasn’t irritated with J’on after all. Just his wherry of a dragon.
Kaaoloth however was non pulsed. Titling his head he examined the small feline in J’on’s arms with a small amount of interest. The feline just wasn’t as interesting as the stretching green in front of him. Oh no Rinagth was far more interesting and he watched with obvious interest as her muscles stretched under her hide. So lovely she was. Truly so, and a good flier if he remembered correctly. Quite a prize. The brown arched his neck in response and rumbled approvingly whirling eyes flicking from the green briefly to Sel’n to scold him again. Loosen up Fussypants. You could do with the company and besides if I remember correctly you had no complaint about Rinagth’s. So stop being such a stick in the mud and relax a little. Would be good for you. Even Harpy dearest thinks so. Don’t you princess Vanity? That little bait had the mandyr frilling. Is Greenqueen. Princess not. My humblest apologies my queen. Please forgive me your highness. The brown retorted respectively obviously humoring the little ego maniac. Amusing she was still. Even after these past turns.
Sel’n for the most part ignored the word exchange going on between pet and dragon. It was far less interesting than the man in front of him. Bad manners to ignore someone speaking to you. Besides if he did pay attention to the conversation between his mindmates they both inevitably turned the conversation to him anyway. A half smile flitted across the brownrider’s face. “I think they need to warn all weyrlings upon impressing that to a dragon no means yes. Would help a lot of headaches down the road.” He turned his attention for a moment back to the dragon pair. “Kaaoloth doesn’t demand bathing all that much normally but lately he has had a bit of cabin fever.” Caused no doubt by their forced grounding but eh. That couldn’t be helped currently. Turning back to the younger greenrider he gave an amused snort at the sugar comment. “Yes. Unfortunately there is no helping it. I am afraid Kaaoloth is bound to compliment her all afternoon. Woe is us I suppose.” Winking at J’on Sel’n watched as he set the feline down, shifting his stance slightly as Vanity’s claws poked into skin in response to Wraith’s words.
Bad right. No want either. You go way. I stay. Vanity retorted with her usual haughty air. Wiggling out of Sel’n’s collar she perched on his shoulder and busied herself with preening her hide. Obviously she was the more beautiful of the two, so ugly Wraith should be the one to leave. Sel’n grabbed Vanity off his shoulder earning a squawk of anger in response. “Want to get wet harpy? If not shut up.” He stated in a matter of fact tone before releasing the green mandyr and allowing her to glide down to the ground. Shedding his boots and shirt with ease the brownrider gave a grateful smile to his younger companion. “I would welcome the help.” He replied in a slightly relieved tone as he watched Vanity scamper to a nearby rock and perch at the very top. Look queen of the mountain. With a frill she watched the dragons and humans with a superior air.
Shaking his head at his little self proclaimed monarch Sel’n entered the water after J’on. Pausing before he turned his head towards Kaaoloth. The brown in question caught Rinagth’s eye and rumbled low and amused, brushing her mind with a sense of pride in her. Yes now they could force them to cheer up. A bit of soak and toss the human always worked wonders in his experience. By all means she could go first. Shifting to complete the circle the brown let his tail tip flick flirtatiously across the smaller green’s. Clever girl you are Rina. After you my dear.

Rinagth’s eyes picked up bright sparkles of colours that J’on would have referred to as smug shades as she noted Kaaoloth looking at her, certainly there was a great deal more tail movement than was strictly necessary in stretching after the brown showed signs of approval. I think he’s paying attention Rina, and I’m sure he remembers that you have a tail The half amused, half exasperated comment from her rider was totally ignored. The salamandyr, however rated a second look. It wanted to pretend to be a stupid fat shiny? How very strange. Rinagth studied Vanity for a moment then made a flicking gesture with her wings, it was only a salamandyr, it probably didn’t realise how much greater than a gold a green could be if she put her mind to it, poor little beast.
J’on was amused by Rinagth’s thoughts toward Vanity, but since Impressing the dragon he’d got a lot more adept at controlling his expression, just as well really or he’d be constantly bursting out laughing at things Rina did while other people looked at him strangely. ‘There should probably just be a book of warnings printed up so we can hand it out to newcomers to the Weyr.’ J’on grinned and looked at Wraith. ‘Salamandyrs will probably get their own chapter.’ He added, watching the dark green climb onto Yu’s head, the feline seemed resigned to this and ignored his new burden.
J’on gave the pair of dragons a glance and shrugged. ‘Well, I’m not promising Rina will do anything about that, but at least Kaaoloth won’t be complaining he’s bored while she’s around, not unless he wants to listen to her snipe at him anyway. In which case he probably still wouldn’t be bored.’ Another shrug followed that statement to indicate it was probably a losing situation both ways, at least on the part of the riders.
J’on failed to notice the circle of dragon hide closing around him for a moment, there was nothing unusual about surrounded by shadow when you stepped close to a dragon. The only reason he noted that he and Sel’n had been trapped by their mindmates was the small rumble of twined pleasure and amusement that came from his dragon. ‘Oh great.’ He muttered as Rinagth’s wing snapped out to push him sideways and pin him against Kaaoloth’s hide, just in time for the water flung by the green’s muzzle and tail to totally soak him. It was amazing how suddenly Rinagth could move when she put her mind to it.
While her rider cursed and attempted to clear the water out of his eyes Rinagth pranced and flared her wings, sending a lighter of water droplets all around her. Oh dear, they don’t sound any happier yet. She commented in a tone that made it clear that she was having fun. I think that makes it your move. She added with another playful little rumble of amusement snaking her head around to nudge at the brown’s shoulder.

Sel’n gave a chuckle at J’on’s words. “Yes a handbook sounds nice. To bad you would need a burden beast to carry it. Likely everyone would want to add their two cents and we’d end up with a book so heavy you would have trouble lugging it around.” Amused the older rider was. Highly so. He wouldn’t admit it but it was nice to genuinely interact with another person again. Looking over at Vanity and ignoring the thread of amusement spiraling through his brown he shook his head. “Mandyrs deserve their own book as well. With a chapter on how to keep your sanity upon impressing. Good luck with that one.” Upon her rock Vanity frilled. Insane you make self. Fussypant no listen. Make insane. Listen more be k. Tail lashing through the air she tilted her head to examine the cat and Wraith. Not worth her time really. Still bored was bored and so she offered to the other mandyr. Fluffy no eat you. Why is? Most the felines she had met had been determined to make her into a snack. Well besides the huge grey fluff in the infirmary. The Monster.
“Tch. Kaaoloth loves to hear her speak. She’ll be hard pressed to get rid of him now. Attached he’s become to your lovely Rinagth. Lucky us.” The words where only half in jest. Really Kaaoloth could have picked a worse green to favor. J’on was amusing, friendly, and good looking. On the further plus side he also was not female. Less drama to deal with. Yes Sel’n quite preferred males. Stretching the older rider was going to speak again when Rinagth moved. Eyes widening he watched as the younger greenrider was effectively pinned and splashed. The amusement surging through Kaaoloth gave him little warning. He was next. Oh joy. In an attempt to fend of his rather large mindmate The brownrider growled. “Kaaoloth. Don’t. You. Dare.”
The three legged brown gave his a false innocent look before nudging back companionably against the smaller Rinagth, his muzzle dragging lightly down her neck. Very nice! But you are right mine in particular sounds very grumpy. Let us see if we cannot fix this. Muzzle dipping down towards his he rumbled and licked Sel’n before scooping him up with his head. The rider instinctively tightened his hold on the brown as he was lifted into the air. Sharding Faranth he hated this. With an amused rumble Kaaoloth flung his head to the side the momentum sending his a few feet before he splashed spectacularly in the middle of the river. Flaring his wings the brown gave a deep bark of laughter as his broke the surface and sputtered. Lowering his head he gestured with a wing to his. You see much better. Now he is cool, maybe that will help the grumpy. A light brush told him his rider was fine. Kaaoloth had developed excellent aim over the turns after all.
Rumbling Kaaoloth turned his attention to J’on and Rinagth, moving slightly away so as not to crush the lightweight rider as he pounced forward towards Rinagth. Flaring his wings he sent a wave of water towards the female. I think it is your turn to get wet my dear. He said in clear playful tones, his whirling eyes reflecting his happiness clearly. Behind him Sel’n treaded water and snorted to clear his nostrils. Slapping the surface of the water with his palm in frustration he grumbled to himself. “Big overgrown hatchling is what you are.” He shot a apologetic look to J’on as he started back towards the shallows as he caught wind of his dragon’s next intentions.
To bad he was too far away to warn the younger rider. This meant war. Kaaoloth reared back on hind legs and gave a playful warble to the green before falling back to the earth with a large splash that intentionally soaked J’on all over again. I’m afraid our rider’s have taken on water. He remarked with amusement before tilting his head to croon at his lovely playmate. I believe I have unintentionally taken two turns. My apologies. He offered, reaching forward to nuzzle her with enthusiasm. Forgiveme dearest.

J’on snorted in amusement. ‘Well that’s certainly true.’ He admitted. Maybe the list of warnings that should come attached with a dragonet needed it’s own records room. ‘It might be more convenient to have the queens just attach specific warnings to each of their babies while they’re still in the eggs.’ He mused. ‘Oh yeah, and I want a chapter on how to deal with finding out your green salamandyr prefers other greens, because that was one of the worst experiences of my young life, although I’ll admit that wasn’t so much the mandyrs.’ J’on fell quiet then, he’d never actually liked Ciara but he didn’t want to mention it now that she was dead, and besides, mentioning Chatti tended to send Wraith off into periods of gloom and pining. Fortunately right now Wraith was too distracted with claiming Yu as hers to pay much attention to what J’on was talking about.
Wraith stretched herself out to bask on Yu’s neck, resting her head between the feline’s ears after finding that the short haired cat’s head was far too slippery a perch. Mine is. Mine Yu not eat, Mine bug not eat. Mine mine not eat. She explained slowly and seriously as if Wraith privately considered Vanity not quite bright.
J’on gave the dragons, or at least their heads, some consideration, they did look rather sweet together, and Rinagth could have found a worse dragon to flirt with he supposed. Inocenth sprang directly to mind. J’on just hoped Kaaoloth wasn’t going to be to disappointed when some other dragon caught Rina’s ever roving attention. He would have commented on the matter if Rinagth hadn’t chosen that moment to try and drown him.
Rinagth watched with interest as her companion scooped up his rider and tossed him into the river with an almighty splash. I don’t know, I think the water may just have interrupted his cursing, that often happens when J’on gets wet. Rinagth cocked her head to one side and took half a step forward as if to make sure Kaaoloth hadn’t more than half drowned his rider.
J’on just knew he didn’t want to be caught in the middle of these two dragons anymore. It wasn’t that he thought they’d be clumsy enough to crush him, more that he knew he was going to end up three quarters drowned as a result of their amusements, probably as a direct result. Even as he moved away from the pair a loud warble let him know he was going to get soaked again. ‘Are you sure we should let these two play together Sel’n? They might cause flooding down the coast if they carry on with this.’
Rinagth raised her wings and her muzzle loftily and looked sideways at the brown. I’ll consider it. she answered playfully, before throwing her whole body sideways into the brown in an attempt to knock the larger beast of balance and into the water, which would probably soak the entire area if she succeeded.

Kaaoloth gave a rumbling bout of laughter. Interrupting his cursing is the first step at getting him happy again. He said with amusement whirling through his eyes. Which was both true and false. His rider’s moods had to be carefully cultivated sometimes, this was true, but Sel’n wasn’t in /that/ bad of a mood today. A bit of abusive love never hurt through. You see now he has to also work at staying afloat. This occupies his mind and the swimming helps him release his anger through physical activity. The dragon gave a knowing nod. Rinagth’s slight concern over his caused the brown to tilt his head in Sel’n’s direction as well and brush his mind with love and a bit of concern. In return for his efforts the brown got a string of curses and brief feeling of buried amusement. Rumbling the brown turned back to Rinagth, making sure that he also paid attention to the location of her rider. Wouldn’t do to unintentionally crush him. That would be most upsetting.
Vanity upon her rock snorted slightly and cocked her head to view Wraith. Far from unintelligent was the green and she was positive she was being insulted in some way. Which did not sit well with her at all. Flaring her frill outwards she gave a soft hiss tail lashing briefly across the surface of the stone. Yu yours? Private Fuzzball has? Careful not one day turn eat face. Would be unpleasant. Not that Vanity privately thought it would really be unpleasant. In fact she might be privately pleased if Yu ate Wraith. Still insulting unintelligent green or no Wraith was providing her with a bit of amusement and so Vanity defaulted to trying to be mildly pleasant. To that end she did warn the other mandyr when she caught wind of Kaaoloth’s thoughts. Brown one stupid, humor large ugly green. Watch, watch. Wet come. Vanity not want drown. Hurry fast or drown all. These words where given as the green mandyr leapt of the top of the rock to glide to the nearest tree. Clinging to the bark she frilled once before scampering up. Up, up. She chattered as she ascended into the branches. She didn’t want to be part of a dragon caused flood thank you very much.
Sel’n was nearing the bank and quite unintentionally J’on as well when he caught wind of the thoughts spiraling in Kaaoloth’s head. Ignoring them for the moment he chuckled at the greenrider, now finally close enough to hear the younger rider’s words. “I think you’re right. Maybe we should threaten them with no baths if they don’t stop. I’d hate to be blamed for mass flooding in the area.” No sooner where the words out of his mouth then he felt a surge of playfulness from Kaaoloth. There was near no time for anything but a tightening of muscles and a wince before the brown acted. The large brown in question regarded Rinagth as she approached with something akin to extreme amusement. Tossing his head he watched as she strutted towards him and promptly threw her weight into his body.
Large as Kaaoloth was, even missing a leg, he could have easily balanced out the weight and stopped himself from toppling. But that wasn’t fun. Not at all. So instead of fighting back against the green’s assault the large dragon intentionally went with it. With a bugle he allowed himself to topple and conveniently forgot to catch himself. Still his tail whipped around as he fell, wrapping around Rinagth’s leg in an attempt to unbalance her and pull the green down with him…
The splash that the brown’s body sent up was spectacular, the wave actually knocking Sel’n off his feet and carrying him up the bank a ways. Vanity remained high and dry on her tree branch chattering down at the fools below. Stupid brown ugly. Drown ours then where be? Sputtering the brownrider wobbled to his feet, coughing to clear his throat and picking a river weed out of his hair. Looking at the limp plant with mild disgust the older rider turned his attention to trying to spot J’on. “Damn it all. Mass flooding is right. Kaaoloth get your sorry rear out of the river before you actually do drown someone!”

Wraith remained perfectly still, bonelessly sprawled on Yu’s neck. It would take more than a frill to upset her once she was settled in for basking. Yes. Mine Yu. Will not eat. Eat Yu before Yu eat. Make mine bug eat mine Yu. Yes indeed, should Yu ever become like the other furred giants and attempt to hunt her she would be telling Rinagth to eat him. Problem solved. Yu was nice though, no need to have him eaten just yet. Wraith combed her talons through the cat’s fur almost absent mindedly, inspiring Yu to purr happily, he didn’t care who petted him.
Wraith flipped her frill up, revealing the lacy orangey and yellowish markings there, her bug wasn’t ugly! Everything belonging to Wraith was beautiful! The dark green salamadyr’s dignity was entirely ruined as she sneezed a few times, making her frill and wings flutter around. Nono wet. Quick move Yu! Wraith dug all four sets of claws into her feline mount, but rather than climbing Yu decided to bolt for a change quite unable to understand why the little talky lizard had gone from petting to clawing. Nono! Up! Wraith objected leaping from the feline’s back and racing up a tree of her own. She didn’t want to be in the middle of as much water as a dragon could move.
J’on nodded seriously and was about to say that the coast hardly needed flood on top of everything else, but once again he was cut off by huge amounts of water. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Rinagth move, and braced himself for whatever might come next, but he certainly wasn’t expecting Kaaoloth to drop into the water like that.
Rinagth warbled cheerfully as Kaaoloth overbalanced, although he could have caught himself. This was so much fun! Oh! The green gave a short bugle of alarm as Kaao’s tail caught her leg and pulled it out from under her as the brown fell. With a second, lesser, splash the green faceplanted quite spectacularly into the river.
J’on was swept off his feet by the first tidal wave, the additional water from Rinagth’s fall was barely even noted. ‘I didn’t actually think they’d take that as a suggestion.’ J’on grumbled, shaking water out of his ears once he regained his footing, several feet from where he started out.
Are you sure being soaked makes yours less grumpy? Rinagth enquired, pulling all four of her legs back underneath her and leaning her head on Kaaoloth’s shoulder. He seems to be grumpier than ever now. The green hadn’t worked out that knocking Kaaoloth over would cause quite such a big splash, or that everyone else would end up in the water.

Kaaoloth crooned softly to Rinagth as she laid her head on his shoulder. Flopped as he was in the water the brown didn’t have to adjust much to get comfortable. Oh he will be fine. He is less grumpy than he sounds trust me. Amused the brown dipped his head to briefly nuzzle his green companion before arching his neck and directing an affectionate croon at his. Which got him a half hearted rude gesture and an amused grin. See. He is less grumpy than he sounds. Occasionally he has a flare for dramatics. I think he was just worried that yours would be less than pleased by my antics.
Giving a rumbling chuckle Kaaoloth gave J’on a soft croon as well, before dipping his head again to nuzzle happily along Rinagth’s neck. I don’t know about you but I think bathing now sounds very nice. Perhaps we should call ours over? The brown would let the green have the pleasure of the first bath. Polite he was, and totally willing to roll with whatever the female wanted. It was less flirtatiousness and more actual kindness. Kaaoloth was a bit of a push over when it came to a lovely female. Especially one he favored.
Vanity tilted her head down to watch the goings on below. High and dry she was and happy for such. Idiots. She broadcasted widely before curling up in her tree branch where it was safe. High, dry, and away from the idiots. Yes she was not planning on coming down anytime soon. Shifting slightly the female busied herself with preening her hide and keeping an eye out for Wraith. Vanity had seen the other female flee the scene of the flood but where she had gone the other wasn’t sure. Giving her hide a final lick she peered over the branch to gaze with slight interest in the direction she had last seen Wraith. Perhaps the other had in fact been washed away? What a shame.
Sel’n slowly picked his way over to J’on and shook the water from his hair before grinning at the younger rider in slight amusement. “Leave it to Kaaoloth to actually think it /was/ a suggestion. I swear he does these things on purpose to see how far he can push me. Likes to see how far it will go before I decide to murder him.” Giving a soft chuckle he reached up and pulled a water weed from the younger rider’s hair. “My apologies for the idiot. I hope I don’t owe more apologies downriver.” Flicking the water plant to the side Sel’n turned to regard his brown and raised an eyebrow. “I think that when these two get together the weyr should be warned. Dangerous pair they seem to be.” Running his hand through his wet hair in a slightly nervous gesture Sel’n turned again towards J’on. “I’m betting next time Kaaoloth appears on the horizon you head for the hills. Would be a smart move.”

Rinagth rolled her head against Kaaoloth’s shoulder to get both of their riders in view. Why should he worry? I knocked you down, J’on couldn’t be angry with you without being angry with me, and he can’t be angry with me. He adores me far too much. Rinagth took a moment to consider her words. Well he can be but he won’t stay angry for long. Anyway he’s not angry now, not really, not as much as he pretends. You can reassure your rider. Rinagth seemed to feel that settled everything.
It looks like they need scrubbing as well now. Rinagth pointed out with a rumble, noting that her rider had picked up some kind of water plant that he apparently hadn’t noticed yet. So we’d better get them over here, don’t you think? The green’s eye sparkled with amusement as her gaze returned to the two riders.
J’on laughed and waved the apology off. ‘Oh don’t worry so much. It’s not the first time I’ve ever been dunked in the river by any means. Besides I can hardly complain to you when it was my dragon who knocked Kaaoloth over. Oh and please don’t murder him, you’d make Rina a very unhappy green.’ J’on’s gaze flicked pointedly to the way his green had draped herself over Kaaoloth, not that Rinagth wasn’t inclined to do that with any male who’d allow it but she really did favour Kaaoloth over most since she felt she had a legitimate claim on the brown.
J’on pretended to consider the matter for a few moments, although all his uncertain body language couldn’t hide the amusement in his brown eyes. ‘I think you’re right about the warning.’ The greenrider replied at last. ‘But I don’t think I could keep Rinagth away from Kaaoloth if I tied her down, and they are funny together. I just think I’ll be keeping my distance from the river next time I see the two of them in there. Besides, you’re good company, when you’re not being half drowned by playful dragons anyway, and I wouldn’t avoid you.’
Oh J’on… It’s bath time now, come on. I promise I won’t knock Kaao over on you… Rinagth’s voice sing songed into her rider’s mind making him laugh ruefully. ‘Ah my lady calls me.’ J’on chuckled. ‘She even promises not to drop Kaaoloth on me. How very generous of her.’
Wraith hauled herself further up her tree, sneezing all the way. Most idiots. Wet. the small green complained, flopping down on a comfy branch to dry out. Yu? The green inquired of Vanity, suddenly alert. Where was her feline?

Kaaoloth gave Rinagth an affectionate head rub before raising his head to turn it in the direction of their riders. Why should he worry you ask? I do not know. He makes a hobby out of it sometimes. Like most humans he is complicated to annoying levels about the silliest things. You would think they would learn after being bonded to us but they seem to prefer to be complicated. Sad really. A rumbling chuckle was given as the green continued. Oh yes mine could not be mad at one as lovely as you. Nobody intelligent could be. I will reassure his silly head for you. A bob of his head accompanied those words as he passed an amused reassurance to his. The response he got was a mental eye roll. Apparently that solved everything. The large brown shifted again to half coil about Rinagth, sure she would not mind the obvious affection.
The weed pulled from his lovely companion’s rider was noted with a bit of pride. Yes they seem very dirty. Shame on us for making them such. The brown returned in a tone that was false apologetic his whirling eyes obviously also amused. Yes I do think it is time to call them in. To bad mine hardly ever comes when called. You have yours trained better. Giving Rinagth a false exasperated look Kaaoloth gave her a nuzzle. Ladies first.
Sel’n gave a small smile as J’on waved off the apology and turned to catch a glace at the cuddling dragons as well. “Oh you needn’t worry most of my threats are hollow and he knows it. Your Rinagth will be able to drape on him for as long as she wants anytime she wants. He wouldn’t snub her.” Which was the complete truth. J’on’s green feel among Kaaoloth’s favored females and the brown was always insanely affectionate to his favorites. There where not many he deemed favorites. They had to possess a violence in flight and a willingness to interact outside of flight. The green was in no danger of falling out of favor either. Especially if she was willing to act like that around him. The brown was all to comfortable humoring her.
Turning his attention back to J’on the brownrider gave a warmer smile. “Good company hmm? Well that’s one of the first times I’ve heard that particular line. Careful or you might actually make me blush.” Sel’n said with a wink. Either Kaaoloth‘s playful nature was bleeding over a bit or he had been cooped up to long. Hard to say but currently he had the urge to actually interact. “Ah the mistress calls. I suppose we should heed her summons lest we find ourselves waterlogged again?” That would be the intelligent thing to do. Kaaoloth responded lightly. Chuckling the older rider gestured with his head towards the dragons. “Kaao says if we know what’s good for us we’ll be on our way. After you?”
Vanity watched with interest as Wraith made her way up the adjacent tree. Ah so the other female had in fact not been swept away. Flicking her frill outwards the green debated on Wraith’s words. Idiots yesssss. The comment of the fur ball caused the mandyr to get to her feet and scamper to the end of the branch. Tilting her head she examined the ground below before turning back to the other green. Not see Yu. Find Yu want? Bored Vanity was and, as much as she detested other females, searching for the feline would keep her entertained at least. Besides Wraith obviously needed her help. Stupid the other female was. No way she could locate the fur ball on her own. Sigh. Sometimes it was hard being the Greenqueen of Selenitas. Come will find Fur ball. Leaping from the branch she was perched on the mandyr glided to the next with minimal effort, expecting Wraith to follow in her wake.

Rinagth snorted slightly and flicked her tail dismissively, a hobby of worrying? What a strange thing! J’on had better not take it into his head to worry all the time, he’d be no fun at all then, and he was already no fun over so many things. Who needed drills and things when they could have this all day? Baths, swimming, handsome browns, it really was perfect and if J’on wasn’t so boring sometimes they could have more days like this. Good. Worrying makes riders so much less fun. We should save them any worry we can to keep them fun. Rinagth responded, practically glowing with pleasure as Kaaoloth curled about her, what more could any green possibly want?
‘Don’t tell her that,’ J’on warned, or you may walk out onto your weyrledge one day and find my dragon sprawled all over yours.’ The worst thing about that sentence was that J’on meant it, outside of her Flights Rinagth’s temper only seemed to flare at other females and she was only too eager to prove to her favourites that she liked their attention, sneaking over to another weyrledge to snuggle would be about her level.
‘Oh I expect you’ve heard all the lines.’ J’on accompanied this statement with a wink that turned out to be just a bit more flirtatious than he’d intended. ‘And I doubt any of them made you blush. However, if you like I’ll lie to you and tell you I’m only tolerating you because Rina likes Kaaoloth so much. Will that cool your blushes?’ J’on offered cheerfully, responding to the playfulness in Sel’n’s tone.
‘I think he might have the right of it. We’re bound to be drowned again if we don’t respond upon the instant to these unfair demands for baths and the like.’ J’on bowed dramatically and passed by Sel’n, back into the river. ‘Come on then, which one of you is first? Although I do remember giving you a full bath only earlier today Rina…’ In response to that comment Rinagth flicked her tail slightly and sent a small splash of water at her rider. You and Kaaoloth’s are pretty dirty looking now, maybe you two should wash each other. Rinagth suggested, all innocence. J’on laughed, shook his head and aimed a half hearted swat at his green. ‘Now there’s a pointless suggestion. Everyone knows as the dragon gets cleaner, the rider gets dirtier, so it only makes sense to get the dragons washed first.’ Turning to Sel’n J’on asked ‘Can you believe my dragon just called us dirty? I wonder who might be responsible for that?’
Wraith craned her neck around and frilled a few time agitatedly. Did Yu get swept away in all the water? No he was big, he had to be somewhere. Find Yu want. the small green echoed, latching so gratefully onto the offer of help that she failed to notice any condescending tone to it. Wraith willingly hopped after Vanity, taking the other side of the tree without really thinking about it.

I agree my dear Rinagth. Worrying does make them less fun. I like your plan. Dipping his head the brown nuzzled her muzzle affectionately. He was aware of the happiness he was causing in the green he was curled around and it pleased him greatly to be able to inspire such in his favorite female. Claimed Rinagth was and he doubted she would protest to such even if he told her. His green thank you muchly if one of the other wanted her next time she rose they would have to fight for her. He could feel his bonded’s mental face palm to that thought but chose to diplomatically ignore it for now. They could fight about it when the green started to glow. Rumbling he turned his attention to the two riders standing not far off. Did they have to take so long? I know you are enjoying the flirting but it is not very polite to keep a lady waiting. The large brown remarked in a tease to his. Kaaoloth was glad his was getting out and interacting. Especially with Rinagth’s. Faranth knew his needed more friends.
Sel’n gave J’on another amused smile his hand going up to run through his waterlogged hair. “Ah if she chose to be a ledge leech Kaaoloth would be beyond pleased. Let’s not give them that idea hmm? That being said I wouldn’t mind you stopping by every now and again. Kaaoloth is not the only one who enjoys the company of you and your lovely green.” His turn to be a little bit of a flirt. Such was a tad rare for Sel’n. especially lately. It was more probably Kaaoloth affecting him but e did find J’on attractive. He was a nice looking sort and friendly enough. The older rider couldn’t see it going anywhere past friends with benefits but he was just fine with that. J’on had the reputation of being a huge flirt anyway and the last decently long relationship Sel’n had participated in had ended in disaster. Almost quite literally.
Chuckling at the greenrider’s baiting the brownrider moved forward and after J’on. “Oh I’m quite cool thanks to our lovely beasts.” His light smile didn’t falter a little even though he was quite amused at the comment about blushing. It was extremely hard to catch Sel’n off guard like that. Far to good he was at the cold, stoic, unfeeling mask now. With a slight bounce in his step he followed after the younger rider coming upon the dragons just in time to hear J’on’s tease at Rina and get caught in the splash she preformed in retaliation. Wiping the water off his face he laughed. “Dirty hmm? I think that’s their fault.” He shot a look at Kaaoloth. “I blame Kaaoloth for the comment.” He flicked a gesture at the brown. “Maybe they should bathe us. On second thought that would be dangerous, forget I said that.” Grabbing a handful of sand he approached Rinagth and bowed politely to her. Applying the sand to her hide he began to scrub it shooting an amused look at J’on. “Not that I’d turn down a bath afterwards. You’re right bathing dragons is dirty work.”
Kaaoloth rumbled in an amused tone as his bonded began to wash Rinagth. Yes very dirty aren’t they Rinagth. Lazily the dragon dropped his head to the green’s back so he could regard the two humans as they worked. Getting dirtier to. We will have to make sure they bathe before returning to the weyr. The brown gave an amused rumble. His would not mind bathing with J’on he was sure.
Vanity leapt form tree to tree her wings used expertly as she scrambled around his branch to leap to his one. Half glances where thrown back to Wraith as she other green followed. Yes that was right, follow her as was right of a subject. Pleased green eyes regarded the foliage around as the small mandyr tried to catch sight of the feline. Where exactly did the fur ball get to? Claws digging into the wood Vanity scrambled through the jungle with the ease of a creature well suited and used to such activity.
It was a few trees away that she pulled up and frilled. Heard something. The green shot back at Wraith in explanation head tilted to better catch the sound. This way. Darting around the truck she leapt for the next tree and titled her little head up, frill outstretched. There among the upper braches was the soaked feline yowling at the unfairness of it all probably. Found did. What now? Obviously they couldn’t carry the feline down themselves. Yours want furball? Yes Wraith’s would obviously have to come back to get the sad looking creature.
