There was a moment of silence after Erilena’s words. But it wasn’t a bad sort of silence. No, more one filled with some sort of anticipation. When Dmitri pressed his cheek lightly into her palm the greenrider’s smile softened a little her fingers gently smoothing over his skin. It was a little difficult to fight the desire to let the touch travel up into his hair but in the end she was glad she left her hand where it was. The brush of lips over her palm started that fluttering in her chest all over again. Erilena welcomed the sensation, even if she had just only now managed to get her breathing completely under control. The desire to touch and be touched was almost overwhelming currently.
The greenrider was a very physical person. Always had been. It was how she communicated, displayed things, expressed herself. Even now the need to be closer to the harper was stronger than ever but she held back, just barely, waiting for Dmitri to say something, anything. When the murmured words finally came they were met with no small amount of happiness. It was almost…unreal in a sense how right this all felt. Erilena had had her nagging doubts, it was impossible not to, but they were almost all being washed away leaving behind a number of different emotions that she hadn’t felt in quite some time. Not for over a turn now.
With a smile she traced her hand along Dmitri’s jaw, noting how soft the hair feathering his jaw really was. Such a deceiving thing. Looked like it wouldn’t be soft but was. Finally she spoke her voice also quiet, solely because there was no need to be louder. “I’m beyond glad that I’m not wrong.” Her eyes flicked up to his and she smiled. “It’s easy to see why you were afraid as well. Losing you would be…terrible. You’re very important to me.” Really he probably didn’t realize just how important.
Dmitri had been her close friend for turns. The person Erilena had always felt most comfortable spilling everything to. Feelings, fears, even problems. Even when she had been with R’ven it had always been Dmitri that she had ran to with things. Because she had had complete faith in the harper. Trust that she hadn’t completely had for brownrider she had found in her best friend. Looking back it was…probably wrong at times to have come to Dmitri with some of those problems. Especially because R’ven had been his best friend. She had put things on the harper that he shouldn’t have had to deal with. But he had never turned her away. Had always been there. It should have been a clue, a sign, but love made you blind and certainly sometimes stupid. It didn’t help that sometimes emotions just didn’t make sense.
So yes Erilena had been terrified. Terrified that if she was wrong she would lose Dmitri, lose her best friend. That fear hadn’t been there when she had begun with R’ven because they hadn’t really been friends beforehand. Not like her and Dmitri were anyway. With R’ven there had been less to lose if it didn’t work out. With the harper there was far more at stake. That more than anything else had stayed her hand when she had first come to the realization that what she felt for the harper was more than just simple friendship. But you couldn’t let fear rule your life could you? Couldn’t let it stop you from taking a chance at something that had the potential to be something few people got. With a soft giggle she poked at Dmitri’s nose. “I’m good at being distracting aren’t I?” Which was still something Erilena had a hard time grasping on occasion. It wasn’t like she was trying to be distracting.
When the harper pulled her into his side the greenrider didn’t fight it. Not at all. Instead she cuddled up against him, craving the contact, her head finding a place to rest on his shoulder. It felt to right to be wrong so the girl didn’t bother questioning it, simply allowed herself to find comfort in the contact. Contentment. A smile crossed her features before she responded in a completely reasonable tone. “Well I’m happy you finally got around to it. Next time you shouldn’t wait so long.” With that Erilena tilted her head so she could nuzzle briefly at Dmitri’s neck keeping the contact light, short. Subtly testing things still really. Smiling she returned her head to his shoulder. The greenrider was happier in this moment than she had been for a good while. She was almost scared to speak for the fear that it would all just be some crazy dream but she still felt as if she had to ask. Trying to sound nonchalant and unworried Erilena murmured the words before she could stop herself.
“Does this mean you’ll date me?”
