Dmitri gave Erilena his ambiguous smile in response to her question. He'd only gotten so much because he wasn't sure what she'd want, after all. If anything, the girl was far too skinny, but that wasn't something he was ever likely to say to her unless she looked like she was going to pass out at any given moment. Let her think what she wanted to of the smile. He rather liked reactions, after all.
"Can't help it that you're a midget, you know," he commented dryly, before barking softly at her. (Didn't need any Wastelanders deciding that he'd lost his mind. Then again, that might land him with Raebeli, in which case it wouldn't be so bad. Though the woman definitely wouldn't get anywhere with him. Some forms of crazy just couldn't be fixed. Heh.) The boy elected not to comment on his looks. He'd been joking, of course, but even so he knew he wasn't nice on the eyes. Erilena could be as sweet as she wanted; it didn't change the objective facts. Dmitri didn't mind at all, though. He'd rather be known for other things, not how 'cute' he was.
The question didn't get answered right away. In fact, Erilena never quite managed to touch his hand. Dmitri snatched Dementia out of the air, wincing slightly as blood dripped from between his fingers. The gold's quiet creels accompanied a tongue washing over the slashes she'd clawed into his palm. Sighing, he turned his hand over and slowly opened it, as if he wasn't quite sure if she was done yet or not. An apologetic shrug was offered Lena. "Not sure what you're thanking me for, but you're welcome."
He poked at the body of the creature who'd twined her tail with his fingers. "And you. Eat your egg. Better for making babies, right?" Dementia glanced venemously at Erilena and curled tighter in his palm. Dmitri rolled his eyes. Whatever. "Um, what did you ask again? Right. No, no, nothing's really changed except we have to check in and out now. Some ultimatum about if you don't come back everyone who does gets it or something." He snorted. "Just promoting a mass exodus of wherhandlers, seems to me, but whatever. You?"

Her hand flew to cover her mouth as Dementia’s claws sank into his hand. Whoops. Erilena gave Dmitri an apologetic glance. Okay lesson learned. No touching at all. Not with the gold mandyr in the vicinity. The attack had been meant for her after all, and now she felt bad that it had been the harper at the receiving end instead. It had obviously upset the gold too if her soft creels where any indication. Then the little creature’s nasty eyes had turned back on the greenrider again. For a moment a tiny bit of annoyance welled up inside the woman. Did Dementia have to be so nasty? There wasn’t a good thing to be said for the entire species really. Poor Leo hadn’t been too bad no, but even the blue had had his…idiosyncrasies. The rider just gave her friend a small smile as he accepted her thanks. No need to elaborate. The important thing was he had accepted her thank you even if he wasn’t quite sure why. Elaborating would probably only get her scolded. See she could be good.
Pushing her food about her plate Erilena watched him interact with his pet for a moment, mentally reminding herself to take Ca’tauri back something. Not that the feline needed it. But she would definitely appreciate it. Spoiled thing. A soft smile graced her features then. Loved that feline really. Too much maybe. Although could you love something too much? That was up for debate. Involved in a few of her own thoughts the greenrider almost missed that Dmitri had started to speak again. A half smile. “Um I guess things haven’t changed all that much. We have a curfew now. Movement restrictions. Oh and they moved the wings all around. I’m on a triage wing now. Still working at the infirmary. I’ll be a senior apprentice dragon healer soon and I picked up human healing.” Erilena’s eyes flicked back to her plate. “Other than that…things are the same I guess. I spend my free time with Feyrianth, Ca’tauri, the creche kids, and a little bit at the forge if I have enough time.” That was mostly to keep herself busy. Do something she missed, solely to spend time with memories and the like.
In all honesty daily life hadn’t changed all that much except for the fact that quite a few people she cared about where missing now. She ended up spending time thinking about them daily really. Who didn’t? The greenrider was willing to bet that nearly half the weyr missed someone. “Well despite the fact that they feel the need to threaten you guys I’m glad not much has changed. I was worried about you but I figured that you guys would be okay. I know you get ignored a lot, but I guess in this case it was a good thing.” Nibbling on a another piece of fruit, Erilena tilted her head. “If you’re not really busy and don’t have other obligations we could do this nightly?” Definitely better than eating alone. Because that just made her sad, and to be honest? The greenrider didn’t want to risk losing Dmitri again. She hadn’t wanted to lose any of them in the firs place and there was so much regret… couldn’t change that. However maybe this time she could prevent it. Or at least try her damn hardest to make sure it didn’t happen again.
There was enough loss in her life. Time to do her best to make things happy. Even if she had setbacks. This was a step in the right direction right?

It was probably a little painful to watch Dmitri attempting to eat right-handed, considering the nerve damage that had forced him left-handed. He could have, of course, forced Dementia out of his hand. She obeyed him explicitly when he made it into an order (and usually when he didn't, too, but proddy golds will be proddy). Nevertheless the man was patient with her. He couldn't really blame her possessiveness. Men had chosen to blame Elysia for many things that she really should have held against Dmitri instead. If the gold was convinced that someone else might steal him just by touching him, it wasn't just the hormones talking. So he let her keep his hand for the moment.
Of course, that meant half his food was ending up on him. He rather stoicly pretended not to notice as his eyes met Erilena's, listening to her response. (At least he knew better than to attempt to drink. Heh.) His brows rose slightly at mention of the triage wing. Something he hadn't known. It seemed that even the drudges were not entirely reliable for all of his information. Hm. Of course, a lot of the Selenitas ones were gone and the general demeanor of the Weyr had changed. So. Maybe not so surprising after all.
Forge. Missed the big guy. Not to be confused with the mountain. He wasn't sure how a human got so many muscles but he was pretty confident there was a pact with the supernatural involved. Shells. (Besides that, how did a man like C'oar even move?)
"Could have gone much worse if people didn't keep their heads," he murmured. He'd actually been fairly impressed. The only person who'd been a real problem was Trell. Dmitri wasn't too keen on being the target of dragon flame again. "At any rate, I have my routines. If you come to the dining hall around this time every night, you'll find me." Yes. Dmitri had his routines. It was nice to always have something familiar to go back to, even when things were changing all around him. Though he hadn't played the instrument he'd made in quite some time now. At first it was just an emotional thing, but now he wasn't sure how these newcomers would respond. The music echoed very interestingly off the canyon so that no one really could escape it. Hm.
"I'm sorry that I'm not better company," he added finally, putting that out there into the silence. Emotions were not something he dealt a lot with. Even being used to Dementia's ups and downs...well there was a definite difference with her hormones mixed in. Dmisk pretty much disowned them during the time before her Run. Most likely for his own sanity.

If Erilena noticed the fact that Dmitri was ending up wearing his food she was nice enough to not comment on it. Besides that would just be outright mean. She could have offered to help feed him but well the greenrider was willing to bet that he would take offense to that. No matter how delicately or nicely she worded it. So she remained silent instead, slowly eating her own food. The harper's lack of verbal reaction to her small amount of news wasn’t surprising at all really and the woman was far from worried about that. Not only did Demi have a lot on his mind normally but he was also dealing with a proddy mind mate. Not something that looked easy to do considering Dementia’s temperament. Besides Erilena was well aware of how mandyrs affected people having been misfortunate, perhaps, enough to have once been bound to one herself.
With a pensive frown the greenrider nodded to his mumble. “You’re right it could have gone much worse than it did. For everyone. Still I don’t think people quite know the proper way to feel about the whole thing yet. I know I don’t. I just….have my doubts I guess.” The words where voiced in a tone barely above a whisper. Erilena trusted that Dmitri would be able to hear her. If not it wasn’t like he was missing much. She was just adding to the conversation. Tilting her head and meeting the harper's eyes the greenrider smiled slowly. “Alright then. I’ll adjust my schedule accordingly.” Having a dinner partner would be better than eating by herself and the lonely feeling it gave her. Besides this way she could try out new recipes on him. No reason he should always have to eat the food the drudges cooked. Really she cooked well. Or R’ven had thought so and he couldn’t have just been being nice every time. Right? Well technically he could have been but she doubted it. The brownrider had liked his food too much.
Smiling again Erilena gave a soft snort. “It’s fine you’re good company anyway. Even when you don’t say anything. You always have been.” Taking a final bite she tilted her head blonde hair spilling over one shoulder. It was getting way too long again but the woman couldn’t bring herself to cut it. It was a good shield sometimes. “How much longer do you have before you have to leave?” She asked, taking a final bite before her gaze traveled to the doorway for a moment. “Feyrianth wants to see you again. If you will see her? Would you mind walking me home?” Because she promised the green she would ask after all, and this way she would be killing two birds with one stone so to speak.

He cocked a brow at the comment. Had her doubts about what? Dmitri found their present situation pretty clear. All he could say was that they were fortunate that the Wastelanders apparently valued the strength of more numbers rather than 'cleaning house' before moving in. It meant that the people of Selenitas would be taken care of decently. Maybe they'd even have these people trying to win them over. It had a little bit of potential, anyway. But then, Dmitri wasn't emotionally bound to the weyr like some were. He also wasn't southern.
He laughed shortly at her comment. Some people would say the best company was silent. Erilena probably wouldn't, but she did have a tendency to chatter incessantly. Conversation partners had to be willing to put up with that or it would turn into a mess of people trying to talk over one another. He gave up on the awkward feeding as she pushed her plate away.
"Uh...a li-" And there she was talking again before he could really get an answer out. He scratched lightly at the tip of his nose. "I suppose." No doubt she was worried about the big bad evil Wastelanders who might nab her on her way back. He pushed back from the table. "Feyrianth wants to see me again? She's entirely too nice." Kind of like her rider. Dmitri snagged a napkin on his way around the table to try to clear some of the food off him. Bother.

Well at least Dmitri had agreed in the end to walk her home. Smiling at him Erilena took a few small pieces of meat and wrapped them in a napkin. Sticking that into her bag for Ca’tauri she also pushed her chair from the table and stood as well. Adjusting the bag for something else to do while the handler proceed to clean himself off, she gave a soft snort.
“Fey is nice but I don’t think there is such a thing as being too nice. If there was I guess Fey would know wouldn’t she?” Because Feyrianth was completely accepting of almost all. Even the wasteland dragons she didn’t blame for anything although it made her sad when some of them wouldn’t speak with her or acknowledge her for her differences. Even her infrequent bouts of protectiveness normally where easily smoothed over given a few moments. Too nice. Hmm.
Stepping back around to Dmitri’s side Erilena moved close but not close enough to touch at all. Dementia was still there. Still angry and possessive. There wasn’t anything she could do to lessen the golden mandyr’s irritation and hatred towards her so the greenrider just figured it was best to ignore it for the moment. Be careful not to set it off again surely, but other than that ignore the little glowing gold was even present. “Why wouldn’t she want to see you?” Erilena asked walking backwards and giving the handler a bright smile.
“You’re still her Dancer just as R’ven is still her Venny, and no matter what you’ll both always be that to her. That one day when I was still a weyrling and you met her and called her butterfly? When you where so nice to her, humoring? From that moment on you’ve been hers. Claimed I guess. Feyrianth doesn’t do things half way. She puts her entire heart into what she loves, and you’ll always be hers to protect and claim. No matter what goes on between us. You could hate me and she’d probably still find a reason love you.”
With a soft smile she twirled back around and fell into step beside the harper as they made their way back to her weyr. Erilena could understand Feyrianth’s views. Because she herself never did anything halfway either. Both halves of the pair where stubborn that way. “Thanks for walking with me. She made me promise and besides she’s probably right. I don’t know if I should be wandering like I used to anymore.”

"There's definitely such a thing as too nice." Dmitri didn't elaborate though. Being nice was fine. To the point of making yourself an easy target and forgiving everyone so that they would have no reason not to treat you like shit, though? No, that wasn't fine. It was called naivety and it was just asking for trouble. Some people thought it was okay to be hurt so long as it was happening to no one else but that simply wasn't true. Someone always cared enough about you that it hurt them, too.
The concept of Feyrianth still holding on to that long-ago time when he'd called her butterfly was a bit hard to wrap his mind around. Dancer, hm? Well, he supposed there were just some nicknames he'd never get away from. Kind of like Demi. Dmitri hadn't liked that one at all when the other harpers at the Hall first started calling him it, but eventually he'd gotten used to it.
Besides, you couldn't really be irritated at Fey.
His eyes narrowed slightly. "You shouldn't have been wandering around like you were in the first place." Oh, pet peeve. Why had she brought this one up? "Trying to get yourself sick in the rain and killed by felines. Really, Erilena, you don't think sometimes." That was all he was going to say on that subject, though. It hardly needed any more elaboration than that.

Her nose scrunched up as Dmitri spoke but Erilena didn’t comment. Maybe there was such a thing as too nice. But what was the point in worrying about it? There wasn’t one. So she kept her steady pace through the stone hallways listening to the tap of his boots against the stone and the gentle flap of her own leather sandals. When the harper started to speak again the greenrider canted her head to the side and then her posture stiffened. Biting her lip against uttering what was on her mind Erilena swallowed the words. Don’t argue. Couldn’t argue. Well she could but something in her mind was warning her against it. It likely wouldn’t go well at all.
She liked the rain. Still did, even if because of the wastelanders she couldn’t dance in it as she wanted to. Yes Erilena realized that that was not what he was referring to but that night was nothing but scattered half formed pictures that she couldn’t really remember all that well. Nor did she want to. As for the felines. It had been one time. A wrong place wrong time scenario. Besides they shouldn’t have been there in the first place. No it didn’t change that it had happened but mistakes where mistakes and she didn’t like being reminded of them. Too be fair how many people did?
Finally they had gotten to her door and the greenrider briefly rummaged through her bag finally finding her key. Unlocking her door she paused and listened briefly before she swung it open and immediately scooped up the large fluffy feline that tried to shoot out into the hallway. Obviously by this point she had practice. Juggling the now purring Ca’tauri and pushing open the door with her foot she motioned to Dmitri even as a loud croon was given from the weyr interior. “Come in for a second?” She asked before burying her face into the purring cat and cooing to her. “Brought you something spoiled. Did you have fun chasing shadows?” Stepping into the weyr she raised her eyes to slightly narrow them at Dmitri, daring him to say something about her cat talk.
From the other end of the weyr Feyrianth uncoiled from her couch, crooning softly again as she spoke to the weyr as a whole. Hello Dancer. Hello little golden beauty. Her head snaked around, placid blue green eyes regarding the handler. Thank you for walking Lenamine home. I trust you have been well? Her head tilted slightly, tail tip twitching in suppressed excitement. You look well. As always her tone was friendly and gentle. Perhaps a bit more so than usual though because on the trip up Erilena had casually reminded her about Dmitri’s er…nervousness.

That was R'ven's cat, wasn't it? He eyed the little menace. It liked to get fur everywhere, it did. Like he really cared if his pants were furrified. Glancing up at Erilena, he nodded and entered into the room. He didn't think he'd actually ever been in here before, had he? Not Erilena's quarters.
"You really should stop bringing spoiled things to your cats. They'll puke and everything will just smell nasty forever." Of course he knew what she'd meant but he was trying to get a smile of sorts. He hadn't really meant to snap at her. Erilena shouldn't bring up those things, though. She had no idea what it was like to keep finding her in bad positions she put herself in because she didn't plan ahead. It pissed R'ven off a lot, too.
Four wings call me beautiful, Dementia announced from Dmitri's fingers. "I heard." Four wings not too stupid. Four wings. Tell it Harperlove Dementia's. It not understand. The harper rolled his eyes. "Don't worry about her, Butterfly." Well, if she was going to continue calling him dancer, he might as well, right? Do as Dementia says, the salamandyr contradicted imperiously. Dmitri let her. One time should be enough to state his position on the topic.
"No problem, Fey. She's got a habit of wandering around by herself that she needs to break, anyway." Nope, he wasn't letting that go. Not actively sniping at her for it but definitely not letting it go. "We're doing fine. Dmisk is healthy, Dementia is as obnoxiously healthy as ever, and I'm doing good, too." For the most part. He wasn't about to get into all the things he wasn't content about, though.

Giving Ca’tauri a final squeeze Erilena set the cat down and shut the door. It felt…kind of odd having Dmitri here. Really not very many people had ever visited her at her weyr. Hmm well really only three people ever had. R’ven, Nephele, and K’sel. Dmitri had never come to see her. His comment had her giving him a look of mock annoyance and she shook her head. Really? “Cat. I only have one and she isn’t really mine. Although I guess now she is isn’t she?" Now that R'ven was gone. "Don’t worry I don't feed her spoiled things." The greenrider gave a slight eye roll. "I’m at least smart enough to know that.” The last sentence dropped off into a quiet murmur that he would have to actually be paying attention to to even catch. Her gaze dropped to the scruffy multicolored feline as it wound about her legs before breaking off to sniff at the harper’s leg.
Feyrianth gave a soft rumble to Dementia tilting her head to fix one whirling eyes on the tiny golden creature. Blinking one transparent lid over her eye the green responded in a cheerful tone. Oh I don’t see why it wouldn’t understand. Dancer is obviously yours. Just as Lenamine is mine. With a soft croon her attention swung back to Dmitri. There was no harm in humoring the tiny gold was there? Besides she was such a beautiful shiny color. I am glad you are all well. That is good news. You will have to tell the quiet one that I said hello.
Her four wings gave the barest of twitches as the dragon’s gaze went back to Erilena. She indeed should be more careful sometimes. Feyrianth finally allowed, pressing loving reassurances on hers at the same time. She just loved hers was all and part of the dragon felt bad for agreeing with Dmitri instead of her bonded but it wasn’t as if what he said wasn’t at least partially true. It was something of a bad habit.
Erilena gave a sigh and narrowed her eyes slightly on Dmitri’s back. Of course he couldn’t let it go. Of course he had to keep bringing it up. What did he want from her? To stay strictly around the weyr and the infirmary. To never do anything? Or did he want her to come up with a chaperone of some sort? Well that wouldn’t be happening, considering she had no one available to tag along. Finally she spoke when Feyrianth agreed with him. “Oh now you’ve got her on your side to? What do you want from me Dmitri? You wander around by yourself all the time to. Do you want me to try and pick up some type of body guard or something? Even if I didn’t mind someone tagging along I don’t have many options. Scratch that. I have no options.” Falling silent she waited for him to turn and say something. Because oh she knew he would.
Feyrianth in turn gave a soft croon not liking the sudden small bit of tension. Brushing against only Erilena’s mind she spoke softly. He just worries. You know this. We all have worried at times. Dancer just doesn’t want you hurt. Like I don’t. Don't be silly minelove. Erilena gazed at Feyrianth for a few minutes and then she gave a half smile. Okay fine. That she could believe, but did he really have to keep bringing it up? Her gaze went back to the harper. “I’m not saying that what I did wasn’t stupid at the time. But that was before and this is now. Do you really think I’m going to be off wandering by myself with them here?” Blanket healer protection or not there was no trust for the invading Wastelanders. Not from her. Not yet. Maybe not ever.

Dancer? Like Dancer name. DancerHarperLove. Dementia apparently had been derailed from the original topic of conversation. Not that Dmitri was really complaining that she wasn't griping about how he was hers again. Still, he couldn't resist an eyeroll. "Great. That name is just going to get longer and longer. If we find enough that she likes she might take half a day to say it..." Which might not be such a bad thing, actually. It might distract her from more unsavory mannerisms.
"I'll let him know." He already did, actually, but neither Dmitri nor Dmisk cared to let people in on how strong or weak their bond was.
The bluehandler looked at Erilena, his lips pressing close together. Comparing the two of them was ridiculous. Nor was it even true. Dmitri may wander around the Weyr proper alone at times, but Dmisk was always with him whenever he went further than that. He was male. A lone, high-profile male with the sort of social networking Dmitri had would never be as vulnerable as Erilena was.
Did she really want him to answer this question? "Yeah. Maybe not today, or tomorrow, but eventually you'll get comfortable with them and wander around just like you did those times. It wasn't even people that were the threat. You're entirely missing the point." Not particularly unusual for Erilena, either. The girl had a bad habit of being completely oblivious. About many things.
"Just try to remember, okay? Dmisk says hi, by the way, Feyrianth. I've got rounds to make." He glanced over at Erilena. "I'm not trying to be a pain. I'm just hoping you'll think about it next time you get the urge." And with that he was out the door. Clearly wasn't in a mood that was given to dealing with this right now.

Erilena simply started back at Dmitri. Get used to them? Comfortable with them? Was he serious? If he thought that she could than he clearly had no clue. The greenrider clenched her hand but said nothing, biting her lip to keep from firing back even. There was no way she would get comfortable with them. The wastelanders couldn’t be trusted. They had taken almost her entire family from her and, and…it was pointless to go into it. Her eyes came up to regard the handler as he gave his final regards to Fey and then turned to leave.
Well fine. ‘Try to remember. Sure. There was nothing to worry about. It wasn’t like she even wanted to go out and do….whatever. So it was pointless anyway and damn it all. Childishly sticking her tongue out at his retreating back as he started down the hallway she shut the door firmly after him and locked it. Leaning against it momentarily she gave one deep breath and then slid down to the floor, Ca’tauri claiming her lap and rubbing up against her a loud purr in her throat.
I take it that it went well enough? Feyrianth asked before giving a yawn and curling back up on her couch. “Yeah. We’re on speaking terms again at least.” and that would have to be good enough for now.
