Wait, wait, wait. Have to lose? He hadn't said anything about starting anything again. Dmitri didn't interrupt Elysia, though. Trying to explain the conflict going on inside himself was just too large a hurdle to surmount. He couldn't...quite get there. So he let her speak and he let the insanity of her returning to Selenitas on a regular basis pass unchallenged. It was likely nothing would come of it, after all. The wherhandler...cared...enough about her to keep her away if he was uncertain. To hurt her if that was what it took to force that distance. He knew he could. Knew just how to do it, just what to say that would end anything between them for the rest of time. He'd known within the first couple weeks of exposure to her. Elysia was very fragile behind her walls.
Shardit, Elysia. Just...shardit. He was finally getting to the point where he could look at all of this again and set it aside as a closed chapter in his life. It wasn't like there weren't other options for him. Erilena, maybe, or Raebeli. Though he had his reasons to keep the line between friendship and something else clear. If not them, he could just...sleep around. The lonliness problem wasn't something he'd been expecting, but just having a warm body there would serve as a suitable substitute. Preferably female but even that line was blurring when it came to the idea of being alone. Woman had got him hooked on that sort of company. Left him out here. Then came back just as he was getting used to this 'freedom' he now had. She'd reopened the book.
The younger man was frowning at the woman in front of him. Afraid. Of what he'd say, of what he'd do... How could she have no clue? Maybe all she saw and heard was the emotion. Dmitri was very expressive. It was a univeral trait of most harpers. What others would have trouble communicating, he could find words for and put it together into something that wasn't really like a normal conversation with people who processed things normally. It was probably his fault that he hadn't communicated everything. Hard, though, not to be angry. To show anything but anger when you felt so...empty.
"You want what we had," he added after a moment. There was nothing in his voice but weariness. Elysia couldn't go back like that. Dmitri couldn't. Even if he could be all those things for her that she said she wanted, he couldn't trust her. She'd notice even if he kept quiet about it. The reasons didn't mean that much in that respect; a lie was a lie was a lie.
On the other hand, though, the reasons did mean something on a more personal level. Such a ridiculous woman. "You're talking like you're fifty. I may be a kid, but even I know you're not really that much older than me. When I looked at you I saw a woman hiding everything because she was afraid to show her weaknesses to others. Afraid to show people that she cared about things, that she wanted people to trust and to love. Even if she didn't believe people like that could exist. I saw that in you and I wanted to help bring out all the trapped parts. To...give you a reason to believe that not everyone was like the people you knew. That you could have a place where you didn't have to hide or be afraid."
His lips twitched into a humorless smile. "Guess I didn't do that very well, hm? I wasn't going to stop wanting you, Els. If I still want you no-" Dmitri broke off and crossed his arms across his chest. "A friend to you would not let you come back and risk yourself over and over. I don't think you should return."

The weariness to his tone did not escape her notice and Elysia dropped her gaze to somewhere near Dmitri’s chest. Maybe that’s what she wanted. But not really. What the greenrider really wanted was to go past what they had had. Perhaps end up somewhere past the place they had stopped. She had still never heard the words I love you. Not that she had been expecting it anytime soon. Or maybe at all. It still would have been nice to hear those words and know that he meant them one day.
Now she would never hear those words. Not from Dmitri. Not from anyone. Because honestly there wasn’t anyone else who would care to look past what masks she put up daily. Even if by some chance there was, she wouldn’t want them to see. Not now. But even if they could be together…it wouldn’t be perfect. But nothing ever was. Would she be fighting a battle like this every day? Just to get him to believe her? Maybe for awhile, but Elysia was confident that one day she could prove to the harper that he could trust her again. Except now there would never be that chance would there?
Dark eyes flicking to Dmitri’s lighter blue ones as he continued speaking Elysia’s own eyes half closed. His words caused her chest to tighten almost painfully. “Dem.” The nickname was spoken in a tone close to a whisper. The single word voiced as the handler’s lips twitched into something resembling a smile. The greenrider fell silent again as he continued, her gaze never leaving his face. Finally Dmitri was again silent crossing his arms and looking down upon her. The woman gave a soft sigh. “You’re right. A friend wouldn’t.” Silence again reigned for the moment before Elysia again in drew closer, her hand again coming up to rest on his arm. “You did give me that place Dem and you have changed me in ways I never thought I’d ever change in.” Fingers lingered on his bicep. But with him gone that place to was gone. There wasn’t any need to let anyone else in when her heart solely yearned for him was there? It was all so…..fucked up. On top of that the circumstances surrounding them where….limiting.
“You’re not going to finish that sentence are you? It would be as pointless to finish it or answer that question I asked you before. Because it can never be can it.” Not with things at Selenitas the way they where now, not with Burimyu having so little in the way to resources, she couldn’t stay here or they would kill her, Dmitri wouldn’t leave. Couldn’t because of Dmisk. So if Elysia obeyed him and never returned then…this could possibly be the final time she’d ever see him. It took a few silent moments for that to sink in completely. Her available options where…horribly restricted. At the very least she didn’t want any regrets. Wanted nothing to be left to what ifs…
“We both know I shouldn’t. Nothing good can come of it can it?” Elysia’s hand raised then so she could brush the back of it against the hander’s face. “I’ll obey.” Even if she didn’t want to. Not at all. Swallowing and finding herself again fighting back tears the greenrider continued her voice wavering. “But I won’t go until you promise me you’ll try to be happy. Or at the very least content. I know there’s someone here who would love you Dem. Better than I could probably. Promise me you’ll give it a try.”

His arms slowly unfolded at her touch. Well. At least she wasn't being stubborn and fighting him on this. It was the right thing to do. Even if he really would...it didn't matter. That was a selfish thought. Not just on a personal level for Elysia, but it also put everyone who she was hiding with in danger. The woman should not be here right now. She was just fortunate that it had been him who'd found her.
Still, he'd almost hoped she'd argue. Pull her usual 'I'm going to do things my way and I don't care what you think.' Then he could say he'd tried, right?
He turned his head away from her. Didn't need reassurance. The evidence was clear enough. No matter what changes she might have gone through - and he would grant that there were some - that she was afraid to come to him meant he had failed. Dmitri would have been angry - more hurt than angry but anger was a good mask - and probably have brought up the promise she'd made. Things would have been awkward for a few days, probably. But it would have been okay. Elysia couldn't trust him with the truth, though, and that was where he'd failed.
A small, ironic smile touched his lips. He still didn't look at her, but the expression spoke for itself. No. He wouldn't finish the sentence. It seemed that she'd caught enough to understand, anyway. There was hardly any point finishing it from here. "No point," he agreed. It would be easier if they could just forget.
His eyes returned to her when her hand found his face. He frowned slightly at her, the frown deepening as she continued to speak. Dmitri lifted a hand to cover Elysia's. "Els. Don't do this now." The boy's voice was tight. She wasn't supposed to say things like that. Such a possessive woman she was, and her uttering the words...felt wrong. "I'll do what I need to. You know I can take care of myself. You're the one I worry about. Don't give Onyth any more reason to hate me." His lips twisted humorlessly.

Frowning. Elysia didn’t like that he was frowning. When he placed his hand over hers she closed her eyes, one tear slipping down the side of her face. One that she had been to slow to prevent but as long as she kept her eyes closed for the moment no more could escape. It wouldn’t do her any good to cry anyway. It would only be worse. Make him feel worse, make her chest ache more. It wasn’t fair. Life was never fair. That was a lesson her father had taught her, beat into her, quite well. Even so it had never been more true than in this moment and as always the greenrider found herself cursing it all in general. Asking the same question she had always asked even as a little child. Why?
The strained quality to Dmitri’s voice did little to make Elysia feel any better about it either. Fingertips slipped out from under his hand, down his face and to his chest. The greenrider stepped forward then, her other arm winding about his waist in a loose hug. Still she kept a little distance between their bodies. About an inch. Giving the handler space enough to push her away if that’s what he wanted. A tremble ran slowly down her frame and when she finally spoke her voice was halting.
“Promise me. I know….I know you can take care of yourself. That’s not what I’m asking.” No, she was going to be stubborn about this. “and Onyth doesn’t hate you. She’s never hated you. She’s just gets…..concerned. In her own way she agreed with my decision to come tonight. If she hated you she wouldn't have even considered it.” Because the green knew that she had needed it and that there was no other way to make the pain lessen.
Finally Elysia opened her eyes lifting her head to stare up at Dmitri and managing by some small miracle to offer him at least one soft sad smile. “I should go shouldn’t I? But I’m not going to leave until you make that promise.” Her eyes lingered on his face then a small stubborn spark beneath the overwhelming sadness that was rising like some angry monster from the depths. “Say it.”

Now she was crying on him. This just...part of him fervently wished she'd never come back. He didn't like this. It was easier to believe that she didn't care and he didn't have anything left for him, but now everything was all tangled right up again. Plus she was going. Going, gone. This was not a box he cared to reopen right now (little as he could do to stop it) and here she was making him promise things?
He didn't let the disbelief touch his features. Of course Onyth hated him. That green would eat him if she got the chance, he was sure. The only reason she didn't was Elysia would be upset by the action. It didn't mean Onyth didn't hate him. She merely didn't want to hurt Hers. Dmitri didn't voice that, though, because it didn't really matter. The green wasn't around to glare and growl at him. Not right now. Not here.
His arms found their way around her, almost reluctantly. Then they tightened. "Maybe I won't just to make you stay, stubborn." The words were out before he thought about them. He let his lips quirk, almost as if it was just a joke. "Why do you want me to promise that?" The handler thought it was probably to relieve her own guilt. As far as he was concerned, she could keep that guilt. He had to. He didn't have to ask to know that Elysia would be making no such promises herself. Entirely too distrusting, this woman.
"I won't promise anything you won't. Deal with it." The gentle brush of lips against her forehead belied the harshness of the words, though. "Do you really have to go right this instant? If you're not coming back...shouldn't you stay? What hurt can an hour or two do now?" A slight ironic edge entered his tone. Yes, the damage had already been done. Scabs reopened. Lovely.

Her posture relaxed as Dmitri’s arms wound there away about her. When they further tightened Elysia allowed that small amount of distance between them to close. It felt too right to be wrong. Faranth how much she had missed him holding her. The harper’s words caused a smile to flit across her lips, a soft snort leaving her throat as well. Eyes searching his face after he spoke her lips parted as the greenrider started to compose a answer. However before words could even come Dmitri was already continuing. So much for being able to answer his question just yet. Maybe he didn’t really want to know the answer?
Then his lips pressed against her forehead and Elysia’s eyes slipped shut against the sensation. She heard his questions yes but for the moment the only thing that existed was his arms, his presence, and the greenrider wasn’t quite ready to break that spell. Finally there was no choice and her face momentarily found his neck nuzzling briefly against the skin before she pulled away. “I want you to promise because I want what’s best for you. I want you to be happy Dmitri. That’s all I want. Believe me there is part of me that wants to be selfish. That wants to say if I can’t have you no one can. But how could I love you and say that? If you can be happy without me then how can I deny you that possibility?”
Her voice trailed away almost as if just saying that had taken the remainder of her strength and in some ways it had. Because yes Elysia wanted Dmitri happy. Safe. Loved. A large part of her did rebel against anyone else being able to make him feel those things. Someone that wasn’t her. But if she couldn’t be there… It would be heartless to deny him another option. No matter how badly it would hurt her. Fuck how the greenrider wished she could be completely selfish in this too. But she couldn’t, not after all he’d done to show her what happy could feel like. If anyone deserved happiness in return it was Dmitri.
His first question answered Elysia went on to his next one. Answering it without words for a moment only because the handler was right. What could another hour or two hurt? Nothing. Her eyes unerringly found his, body pressing firmly into his own as her arms wound around his neck. The damage had already been done. Things had been said that could not be unsaid. If this really was the last time she would ever see Dmitri the woman was determined to take full advantage of it. Leave nothing left unsaid. Undone.
“I’ll stay. For awhile. There’s no reason to leave right this instant. Not when I can have a few precious moments with you.” No. It wouldn’t last forever. And maybe it would hurt more than it ever had before when she left. But in the end she’d have the memory of it. The knowledge that he still cared about her. That was worth it in the end wasn’t it?

"Good," he responded. His hands wandered perhaps a little, but he didn't go any further than that. No, instead he suddenly lifted her and threw her over his shoulder. Dmisk was getting a bit antsy. He tapped the wher lightly on the haunch with a finger and the blue was moving off. They still had work to do. "We can't just linger here, though. Dmisk will eat me for being a lazy bum."
The blue glanced back at Dmitri. Now that wasn't true. He didn't really like the taste of human flesh. The handler ignored the comment because he didn't really want to know when Dmisk had gotten the opportunity to start gnawing on people. This produced amusement in the creature. He rolled his eyes at Dmisk. Just trying to get him uncomfortable, wasn't he? Now why would Dmisk ever do that?
They'd moved for about ten minutes at a fairly brisk pace (Elysia over his shoulder simply because he could and he knew she'd protest it) before Dmitri finally stopped and set the woman down. "There. Now he can make his rounds within range of me for awhile." The bluehandler touched Elysia's nose lightly with one fingertip. "If you love me, Els, you'll let me live however I choose to live. Not dictate how that should be. I don't love misery so there's nothing you should worry about."
Could he promise he'd love someone else? No. Could he promise he wouldn't? No. And no amount of promising was going to change how he was on the inside so he'd just do what he felt like doing. That was that. "Though if you're going to insist on it I can always just say 'I promise' to put your mind at ease," he added with a teasing smile. "Now I do have another question for you."
His face got starkly serious. This was going to be a very intense topic here, or so his expression said..."When did you become a ninja tree warrior?"

Damn him and his wandering hands. Breath hitching in her throat Elysia had just about decided that she would have to return the favor when Dmitri suddenly simply lifted her and tossed her over a shoulder. She had time for perhaps a half yelp of protest and then she was being balanced like some baggage. Nice. Fingernails lightly traced a pattern on his shoulder before the greenrider gave a soft growl at the harper’s words. “Fine. Put. Me. Down. I have two workable legs. You don’t have to cart me around.”
But as always he had selective hearing and had already started off through the jungle. A soft sigh left her lips then and Elysia briefly struggled for a short moment before she just stopped, realizing how futile it was, and tried to enjoy the ride. Damn him. There had been a time when Dmitri could barely lift her at all. Now he did it with ease. A light smile flicked over her features. The harper had come quite a ways from what he once was.
Finally they had stopped and when he set her down Elysia gave the harper a slightly irritated, look hands coming up to unbind tousled hair. Pinned as it was it was starting to give her a headache. Her hands paused in her own dark locks and the greenrider scrunched up her nose as Dmitri lightly touched it with a fingertip. The brief desire to snap at his finger rose but it drowned when he spoke. Her attention going to his words. Dark eyes flicked up to regard the harpers expression then, her own softening slightly. Curling her hand around her hair pins Elysia slipped them into a pocket. A soft smile flitting across her face. “I should make you promise.” She responded in response to his tease, this time licking at his finger and stepping back a step away from it. “But I won’t because you’re right. You don’t like misery.” Gaze flicking elsewhere briefly it went back to his face then he continued and she gave a light frown.
Another question?
By the expression on Dmitri’s face it didn’t look like it was an easy one either. Her eyes contained perhaps the barest trace of worry as they met his. Then he spoke and for a second Elysia just stared at him as if disbelieving his words and then she laughed. “Are you serious?” Placing her palm on her forehead and peeking out from under it at the handler she shook her head.
“Honestly?” Dropping her hand the greenrider placed it on her hip. “Maybe I’ve always been a ninja tree warrior and you’ve just been unobservant.” She teased lightly before smiling. “I’m not a ninja warrior Dem. Covert operations are what Legatus normally deals in. It’s just adapting your training to your surroundings. Besides I seem to remember that I wasn’t the only tree hopper tonight. I just obviously have better aim.” Stepping forward she smoothed her hands over his chest. “Giants shouldn’t climb trees.”

She did not disappoint him in her protests. On the other hand, she quieted much sooner than he'd expected and it was even kind of nice. The bluehandler liked being able to carry her around even if she didn't like being borne off her feet. It was about time he got big enough to actually do things that most of the men around here could. Many wouldn't guess it by looking at him, but Dmitri had been rather subconscious about being so...weak.
A hand reached forward to play in the loosened hair, his lips turning up in mild amusement at the woman. Looking so out of sorts. It was nice. He liked that look better than the earnest, moist eyes she'd been giving him before. Elysia acting vulnerable was nice in the sense that others didn't see it. But it really wasn't how he liked to see her most of the time. He preferred content or mischievous. (Even if mischievous sometimes ended up very not in his favor.)
A small twitch to his smile. Clearly the bluehandler didn't believe that she could make him do anything. They were both stubborn as all hell. He couldn't help but laugh at her expression, either. Yes, it was definitely worth it just to see that look on her face. In fact, that was better than he'd ever expected. Complete with palm to face. Couldn't have gotten a better reaction than that.
"I beg to differ." His hands covered the ones on his chest. "Giants should definitely climb trees. They'd never fall out. Lose your balance and you can just step down." His fingers slid between her hands and his chest, moving them around behind him so she was flush against him. Once there, his hands returned to playing with her hair. "Of course I was serious." He raised his eyebrows in feigned surprise. "It's not every day you see ninja warriors hopping through the trees. Then to find out it was you...why, you can't imagine my shock."
Yeaaahhh...he definitely was paying no attention to the serious topic of covert operations. Dmitri didn't really care. Or, rather, didn't care to think about Elysia skulking around and getting herself into trouble. Yes, that would be the more accurate way to put it. "Do you have shuriken too?"

Elysia gave a smile as Dmitri laughed her dark eyes coming up to fix on his face. Much better. She liked him like this. Silly almost, playful. She didn’t attempt to remove his hand from her hair either. It felt nice. “Oh you do do you?” The greenrider replied back as his hands covered hers, one eyebrow raising as she fixed him with an amused look. Of course he differed. Why wouldn’t he? “I see. Well when your stepping down from the sky you should be careful that you don’t crush the little people under your boot.” A slight smile that turned into something more content as she was pulled against the harper. No resistance. In fact Elysia relaxed her body completely into his craving the closeness, the warmth. Her eyes half lidded, she nuzzled her face against Dmitri’s chest briefly, hands moving to caress his back as he played with her hair.
The greenrider gave a short laugh tilting her head back to see the harper’s face. “Yes I can just imagine your shock. Especially when you realized that you had missed your mark and had to use that same ninja as prevention to keep yourself from breaking something. Had you not been so damn memorable I might have stabbed you.” Her hands briefly rested against the small of his back. “You always have been something of a lucky sort.” Wrinkling her nose Elysia slid a leg briefly against his.
“Shuriken? No Dem sorry to disappoint you. Just regular throwing knifes. Although I think if you’re looking for shuriken the Legatus wing midget would have been your best bet.” Her gaze broke from Dmitri’s eyes then to fix somewhere near his chest for a few minutes. M’ta. Damn him for getting caught. Part of her wanted to ask if he had….but part of the greenrider also wasn’t sure she wanted to know. Especially not at this moment. Not when she had the harper here in her arms. There was always time for grief later. It shouldn’t have a place now.
Leaning more firmly into him Elysia smiled the expression playful. “So what did tip you off that I was around?” Her hands ghosted over his rear then pinching one cheek before they traveled back up Dmitri’s back, fingernails lightly raking over the fabric of his shirt. What? She was just innocently asking a question? He was the one who thought it was a good idea for her to be this close. Not that the greenrider was complaining not at all. But proximity was distracting. Especially since it had been six months since she had even gotten to touch the handler. Over that actually. Entirely too long in Elysia’s not so humble opinion. So if her hands wandered a little? Dmitri couldn’t blame her. Payback was a bitch. That’s what he got for treating her like a bag of tubers or something. Dark eyes flicked back to his face then. “You have gained weight. Can’t feel any bones anymore.”

"That probably depends on your point of view." Lucky. Only if you considered being alive lucky. Though he hadn't lost any mindmates, either. Nor lovers in a permanent fashion. Just...half-siblings. His mother. The grandmother who was more mother to him that his biological one had ever been. That sort of thing. Oh, and the use of his right hand. Heh. No, he supposed he was fairly lucky all-in-all. Though he also seemed to get into more than his fair share of scrapes.
That expression was clue enough to her thoughts. Dmitri moved his palm enough to cup her cheek, fingers still entwined in all that hair of hers. "M'ta you mean? Well, I heard they confiscated his knives so I doubt he has any shuriken for you. A bother." It answered the question she'd never asked. He knew why she didn't want to ask it, too. The handler didn't really know the brownrider, but he did know that wings must be like the Sentinel to some extent, so he could understand attachments to comrades.
"Tipped off?" But his mind decided to play tricks on him and derail when she pinched his backside. Distracting minx. He blinked, trying to regather the scattered thoughts. She'd already moved on to a new one - or so he assumed it to be, because he couldn't quite remember - before he could get himself back on track.
A small smile touched his lips. "Probably a good thing. Touching me before was something of a health hazard. I'm surprised the healers didn't kick up a fuss." He settled his hand on her waist and snuck a thumb up beneath the hem of her shirt, just rubbing there lightly. He could play dirty, too. And much more subtly. So ha. "And you've lost wait. Do I need to send food to you?" He bent down and nipped her ear sharply. "Take care of yourself, woman."

Elysia’s eyes widened slightly as he mentioned M’ta’s name. A soft smile gracing her features. Little scamp. He’d survived. Somehow. How didn’t really matter. That was unexpected news. Good news. Erased that little worry from her mind certainly. It was hard not to get a little attached to members of your wing. Especially when your life was often riding on them and theirs on you. No the greenrider would never openly admit to liking her wing mates. Still there was a camaraderie between them all and that she couldn’t deny. Elysia was thankful that Dmitri had understood without her having to come out and say it. Tch. He could be way to observant at times. Or maybe she was just far to easy for the harper to read?
An amused gaze passed over her features when all Dmitri did was repeat her question. Oh dear the greenrider seemed to have distracted him. Not that that wasn’t Elysia’s intention. Giving a slightly less than innocent smile her hands rested on the backs of the handler’s shoulders gently kneading them. One eyebrow rose at his words and she gave him a mock serious look. The greenrider was planning a response to Dmitri’s comment about the healers but the hand lingering on her waist stole most of her attention. A soft growl emerged from Elysia’s throat but it cut off when he nipped sharply at her ear. Instead it turned into a soft whimper of sorts. “I do take care of myself.” It was a weak protest and she knew it but she offered it anyway.
Hands falling from the handler’s shoulders they rested on his waist. Hooking her thumbs beneath Dmitri’s waistband Elysia tugged herself firmly against his hips, knowing full well that she couldn’t move him unless he wanted to be moved. Pain that was. The days when the greenrider could half throw him around where clearly over. Not that she was just going to give up on it that easily. “Hazardous you said.” The words where a whisper murmured against the handler’s ear. “So does that mean you’re safe now? Or is there still some hazard lingering somewhere?” Elysia’s lips brushed briefly over Dmitri’s neck before she nipped the spot experimentally. “Still taste good. Maybe I should just eat you instead. Think that would help me out in the weight department?” Her lips flickered in a smile against his skin.

He didn't let the amusement at Elysia's distraction show on his features. Yet. He enjoyed bothering her any chance he got, of course, but right now he didn't want her fluffed up in a fair impression of a scandalized cat. Elysia posturing didn't make for good cuddling. An action he was very much enjoying at present. (Granted, it could have a lot to do with the dry spell he'd entered into after breaking it off with her in the first place.)
"Hm. I don't know what I should tell you. If I say I'm safe now, you'll probably get bored." His words came softly as she lingered at his neck. The hand still her hair tangled itself in it firmly to keep her from pulling back. He really would rather keep her right there. "What sort of eating are we talking about? The fun kind is sure to be decidedly less filling. I'd probably prefer it, though."
His hand slid up beneath her shirt, splayed against the small of her back. "Hey, naughty one. Are you trying to start something?" He urged her head back with his hold on her hair to smirk down into her eyes. "Because that might be a little problematic, you know." Actually, he didn't have any specific reason for it being problematic.
"So no one knows you're here at all?" Curiosity talking, more than anything else.

Wrinkling up her nose at the answer Dmitri gave her Elysia snuggled herself more firmly into him. Bored. She’d never been bored with him. Ever. The greenrider didn’t think that word could ever describe an encounter with the handler. Whether they where involved in a sexual way or not. Even everyday interaction he made into something of a….project. Perhaps that was the harper in him. Or maybe it was just vintage Dmitri. Either way Elysia wasn’t complaining. He did far more than hold her attention. “Boring? Somehow I doubt that.” His next admission had her nipping his neck a bit more sharply her lips smoothing over the skin afterwards as she sucked lightly. Amused at the handler’s next words the greenrider broke away to murmur. “What kind do you think I’m talking about? I was thinking the kind you’d probably prefer but if you’d rather me nibble a tad harder in different areas I will.”
A shiver ran over her as his hand splayed across her back. Naughty one. That nickname currently fit didn’t it? Although who exactly it fit could possibly be up for debate. Allowing Dmitri to tilt her head back with no resistance, mostly because he had quite a grip on her hair the snot, Elysia met his smirk with an amused smile. “Start something? Me? Maybe.” Sliding her leg along the handler’s and slipping her fingers further into his waistband the greenrider gave him a playful smile. “Explain why this would be problematic. I’m curious.” Her hands then left Dmitri’s waist, although Elysia would much rather have kept them there, to slide underneath his shirt. Her nails raked lightly against his skin before fingers splayed over his back. Addictive. The feel of the harper’s skin under her hands again. The chance she had to touch. Even if Dmitri was being serious about these so called problems she could at least enjoy this.
Dark eyes met his blue ones, Elysia giving a soft smile at the question. “No. I told no one. Betweened from our weyr. But I was serious when I said Ka’rys would beat me if he catches wind of it. I wouldn’t put it past him.” Standing on tip toes she attempted to gently nip his nose. “Anymore questions?”

Dmitri laughed and shook his head as vigorously as a set of teeth buried in his neck would safely allow. No, he really didn't want her taking actual bites out of him if it could be in any way be avoided. That sounded like unnecessary discomfort right there. Not to mention she might very well mess up her teeth that way if she got too enthusiastic. Els had always had quite a bit of...enthusiasm.
"Definitely," Dmitri corrected. Elysia wouldn't be getting away with that one. He pulled the woman hard against him to maybe push the air out of her lungs for long enough to maybe actually answer her questions. You'd think she hadn't spoken in ages, how quickly she was laying these things on him. "I asked if anyone else knew because Jazheera would probably appreciate the knowledge that M'ta's not dead. Silly. Stop being so impatient."
Or, rather, he was simply stalling because he still didn't have a list of terribly convincing problems. "I'm supposed to be working, you know," he offered as a placeholder. It wasn't likely to get him very far considering he'd already moved her for the sole purpose of allowing Dmisk to continue his patrols without accompanying him. (It was a truly rare thing for Dmitri to do, but Elysia showing up was hardly commonplace either.)
Other reasons..."Piden and Pidesk cover this area, too, and one of the younger pairs. I forget which one." He didn't really, but the names wouldn't mean anything to Elysia. "It's just wilderness everywhere. We wouldn't be paying close attention to anyone moving around us in the woods. Really, you should just be good and keep your hands to yourself." Which explained why he still had her snugged up tight against him and showed no sign of letting go.
