“I don’t know Kaao. I don’t think there would be a lot of interest.” You don’t know that. The brown snapped. Besides you where thinking about doing it before Benden attacked. So why not now? There is more a reason for it than ever if you ask me. “And what will it accomplish? I’ll be sending them to their death’s Kaaoloth! You know how young people are. They don’t listen to reason. Half of them act on impulse. That’s a sure fire way to get yourself killed.” Even if the riders are ignorant, their dragon’s have more sense. “Not all of the time.” The Weyrlingmaster snarled slapping the flat of his hand against his brown’s muzzle.
I don’t see the harm in teaching the weyrlings to fight. I really don’t. You will feel worse if you sit around and do nothing. The exotics are to young. But the other’s could learn. You could even ask around and see how many older dragon’s would be interested. This is what we are good at Selmine. Fighting. Even after I lost my leg we still did well enough to survive. You owe it to the young ones. Teach them. “Your fighting a losing battle Kaaoloth.” The brown slapped his tail into the river water causing it to cascade down like rain. Why must you be so damn stubborn! “Why must you continue to argue!”
The brown rider scowled at his dragon from his perch on the dock. Kaaoloth lay sprawled in the shallows relaxing after his bath. Sel’n hardly ever argued with the beast. Good natured ribbing back and forth for fun when they where bored, yes. Actual arguments, no. He could count the number of actual arguments they had on one hand. This one included made five. The pair just always agreed. Obviously not today.
