Vanity skittered up the unused filing cabinet in Kalierre’s office. Her hide and begun to regain it’s previous luster but was still a little on the dull side. The green, for once, had other thoughts on her mind. Surprisingly her appearance was not foremost on her list. It had been too long since she had seen her bronze mate. The infirmary king, her Lust. Reaching to top of the cabinet she frilled once and examined the empty office. Her bonded was going to be released from the infirmary soon and today she had peeled herself from him to hunt down her bronze. She came bearing a gift however in the hopes that it would please him. One of the many green flits that frequented the infirmary had laid a single egg in the supply closet and promptly forgot about it. Uglywing stupid green. Upon finding it Vanity had snatched the single egg.
The small green had quite the time lugging it to Kalierre’s desktop. But somehow she had managed it without breaking the thin shell. After leaving it upon the desk she scrambled to the file cabinet where she could keep watch on the entire office. The sound of a door opening caused her to flatten herself against the top of her perch. Slowly raising her head Vanity looked on as Kali entered. The woman was all but ignored, for a flash of bronze signaled the presence of the creature she had come for. Her mate. Vanity resisted the urge to frill and call out. The green was nervous. Did he remember her? A small whine escaped the creature despite her desire for quiet. Standing to her diminutive full height the mandyr finally frilled. Lust Love? Member Vanity? Miss you Vanity did. Muchly miss. Love Lust much always. Gift you me did. Still want Green Queen? Trembling she awaited a reaction.
Sel’n stalked down the hall. How long did it take to get some answers around here? Everyone treated him like he was ignorant, and R’wign’s little barbs where really getting on his nerves. A sudden nervousness filled him and it didn’t take him long to figure out where the source was coming from. Damn it. His little harpy hadn’t forgotten her mate. A wistful sigh escaped the rider. He had known was only a matter of time until Vanity sought the bronze out. The green had been absurdly fond of Lust before Sel'n's brush with death and coincidentally hers as well. Ah well the harpy better not get any ideas into her head. The last thing he needed right now was her running.
Thankfully Vanity was still a bit fragile looking in comparison with her previous self. It would probably be a little bit yet before the demon was fit to run. Turning, the brown rider almost decided to leave well enough alone then an idea came to him. Kali surely knew how he had gotten here. Perhaps…perhaps she would give him at least some sort of answer. Worst case scenario she would be as vague as the others. It was worth a shot. Shifting on his heel he started for her office. What an interesting first meeting this would make.

It was amazing how vital she felt when she really shouldn't. Oh, sometimes the depression was almost staggering, when she let herself thing about it. But she'd always avoided topics that made her emotional, and this time was no exception. Easier to focus on work and on the simple fact that, after the very uncomfortable days of her pregnancy, the pain was so comparatively small she actually felt...good. It was probably weird to her healers to find Kalierre in such a good mood. No doubt there were whisperings about denial and her simply not dealing. Not that she felt the need to discourage that line of thought. She'd never really cared what most anyone else thought.
Kalierre was, at first, confused at Lust's sudden departure. He rarely if ever left her - not since the siege - and this had come without warning...While Vanity's broadcasts she couldn't hear, Lust's were quite clear, and the sudden flood of joy and anger and possessiveness was enough to make it obvious even if he hadn't spoken. Greenqueen. It was accompanied by a hiss, the bronze skittering across the floor. He coiled up the cabinet, either not noticing or not caring about the flitter egg on the desk. Lust pinned her down almost roughly, nipping at her frill, stopping just short of drawing ichor.
Greenqueen leave Lust, he accused her, tail coiling around hers. But, if he meant to express his anger any further, it was quickly derailed. Vanity much small. Shine gone. Greenqueen hurt? Who hurt Vanity? He frilled, pinning her completely as if she might vanish otherwise and looking around the room as if he might find the culprit.
The other little monster was back? Kalierre blinked, torn between annoyance at having to deal with them both again and a certain amount of happiness. After all...Lust had been downright subdued since Vanity's disappearance. He'd even stopped mid-Run simply because no green was good enough.
She turned back to close the door when she caught sight of Sel'n. Kalierre blinked, confusion registering momentarily in her eyes. Her mind told her one thing, but she wanted to be angry and...protect him at the same time. Her eyes narrowed. Most definitely Sel'n, though she'd only seen him from a distance. "Stop broadcasting so much, Lust," she called back to him, as if that would do any good. Kalierre attempted a smile, suddenly strangely subconscious of the scars on her face. "Sel'n. Did you...want something?" He certainly seemed to be approaching her office with a purpose.

Vanity watched Lust approach with no small bit of apprehension. The small mandyr could sense the joy in his voice but above all the green could sense the anger. She would be lying if she said that didn’t scare her a bit. The green went completely limp as the large bronze pinned her, not offering even the slightest resistance. As Lust bit her roughly, the smaller mandyr creeled softly and her eyes slowly melted from nervous yellow to a sad yellow grey. Oh Vanity had upset him so. How very cruel of her. Perhaps it was too much to expect him to forgive?
Wriggling, just slightly, in his grip Vanity looked up at her bronze mate. The words she offered where laced with sadness. Vanity not want leave. Cripplemine much hurt. Bad pain no go’way. Call loud. People come take Cripplemine to 'firmary. As if her words had summoned him, Vanity saw Sel’n stop outside Kalierre’s office. The green didn’t even acknowledge him for the moment. Had he come to collect her? Well let him try, she was busy. Her frill trembling slightly, the green continued. Between try take Cripplemine. Vanity an’ Kaao no let. Hurt still much long time. Better now.
Vanity had stopped her trembling by now and she tilted her head to hazard a small flick of her tongue against the only part of Lust she could reach while pinned, his foot. Forgive Greenqueen? Vanity sorry. Very much sorry. The small green laced the words with all her sadness and longing. The green would have come to him if she could have, didn’t Lust see that? He had to forgive her.
Sel’n stopped dead as he was addressed and shook his head to dispel the feelings of adoration laced with fear that suddenly flooded him. He wanted to hold Kalierre…no that wasn’t right Vanity wanted to hold Lust. Rubbing at his temples the older rider sighed. “Pests. that’s what salamandyrs are. Sharding pests.” Raising his head the brown rider caught the healer’s attempted smile and offered one of his own. “I am terribly sorry about her. It seems she has missed your bronze more than I thought. If she becomes a nuisance I’ll remove her.”
Moving forward the rider slid into the green riders office and leaned heavily against the doorway. “Suppose I should answer your question. As much as I would like to say I am here only to collect my rogue harpy that wouldn’t be true.” Suddenly he was overly self conscious about how horrible he looked. Shooting a glare at Vanity Sel’n continued. “Fact of the matter is. I was wondering if you might be able to give me some answers as to how I ended up here. I know I didn't contract the plague and I don't exactly remember anyone trying to disembowel me. Although it sure looks like someone tried.”
The brown rider gestured towards his abdomen and tried to ignore the anger Kaaoloth sent his way. For some reason the brown didn't want Sel'n to know what happened. That in itself bothered him almost more than the fact that he didn't know.

Crippleyours? Oh, right. The meatsack. He'd almost forgotten about the meatsack that had to be tolerated if you wanted a Vanity. Why Crippleyours hurt? Actually, he suspected that LoveHis might very well have kept this from him...but no. She seemed just as surprised as he felt. It wasn't good, not at all, Vanity's being hurt. That was like attacking Lust himself. The nerve. The male hissed softly, releasing his mate and winding around her in clear protectiveness. Greenqueen no hurt Cripplehers. No need sorry say. Best. He lapped gently at her frill where he'd bitten her.
Best, the bronze repeated. Lust missed Greenqueen. Flyers try take 'firmary. Lust think, Greenqueen gone, need new Greenqueen, but no green good like VanityQueen. Thought maybe two enough, but two together still no good. Only want VanityQueen.
Kalierre shook her head slightly, though she didn't directly disagree. She found a lot of things difficult, and Lust was proving to be invaluable. He could be a pain, yes, but on the whole he was more of a help than a hindrance. Just...not right now. The woman took a step back to give Sel'n more room as he came to lean against the doorpost.
The dragonhealer merely stared at him for a long moment, her dark eyes flicking down his form. "Who released you?" R'wign, she though. It had to be R'wign. Kalierre hadn't even known Sel'n was here, if she was to be completely honest...and that wasn't likely to make him feel any better. But the woman wasn't very good at lying (and so rarely put for the effort to make an attempt) and someone knew, she was sure. Just not her.
"I'm afraid I'm not really up to date on most of the things here. The plague hit right after I recovered enough to return to work...and so much happened then that it's all rather fuzzy. I didn't know my own weyrmate was here until over a sevenday after he came down with it. Then there was the pregnancy..." She stopped abruptly before the babbling could continue too far. "R'wign's the Weyrhealer here. I'm sure he'd have more he could tell you."

As the bronze released her Vanity rolled herself into a more comfortable position and her body relaxed into Lust’s as the bronze curled about her. Almost purring the small green bespoke him again. Not know why. Means hurt crippleminelove much. A shudder ran through the mandyr's body as she remembered the shared pain. Rubbing her head under the bronze mandyr’s jaw she feel silent again only speaking to agree with her bronze. Yes. Best. VanityQueen best Greenqueen. Lust best Bronzeking. Queen, King must be best two always. Vanity’s tongue flicked out to caress her mates jaw line gently. All the while she kept an eye on her bonded. He had come to take her yes? But she didn’t want to go. Wriggling she pressed her body against her mate more firmly before speaking quietly. Cripplemine want take. No want go. Vanity stay Lust?
Sel’n flicked a sidelong glace at his mandyr before turning his gaze to the dragonhealer. She did look a bit worn. Seemed as if too many people he knew bore scars these days. Rubbing his hand across the stubble growing on his chin the man shrugged. “I haven’t exactly been released yet. R’wign told me I’d be able to leave the infirmary tomorrow. They will still be checking up on me for a few days I’d hazard.” Kaaoloth’s comment to that was unspoken, and the brownrider didn’t immediately answer his bonded in favor of listening to Kalierre again as the woman began to speak.
Seemed as if the poor woman had had a real go of it lately. Mention of a pregnancy made him think of Dorava. Kaaoloth had told him that the greenrider had lost the baby and as of yet Sel’n wasn’t sure exactly how he felt about that fact. Part of him was slightly sad. The other relieved. Kalierre was probably just upset. Her weyrmate had been ill as well? The plague. Sounded like she had a whole lot more to deal with then his petty problems. Slight amnesia couldn’t top her problems no matter how annoying it was. Offering the greenrider a tired smile Sel’n began slowly. “I’m sorry about bothering you. I haven’t thought about other people’s problems lately to be truthful.” Mention of R’wign made him want to grimace. The healer was always so damn cryptic around him. It was almost infuriating. No way he’d get a straight answer. He might as well just pick at Kaaoloth until the brown spilled. Which he wouldn’t.
Back to square one it seemed. He might as well just relieve Kalierre of Vanity and go it seemed. Still Sel’n was loathe to leave. A feeling he attributed to Vanity mostly. It was obvious, by the not so subtle glares the mandyr was sending, that she didn’t want to leave. That would be a slight problem. Nonchalantly he examined the dragonhealer’s office. “I had heard that R’wign was the acting Weyrhealer now. Mores the pity for me I suppose. He delights in making my life miserable.”
Kaaoloth snorted at that. Not miserable just more interesting. He hasn’t ever strived to actually hurt you. He just likes to tease. The brownrider rolled his eyes. Is that what you call it? Teasing? Looking sidelong at Kalierre he shook his head. “Kaaoloth demands I revise my words. He says the brownrider just likes to tease. I say he makes life miserable. Bit of disagreement on that point I suppose.”

He curled around her a little tighter when she started shivering, draping his tail over her as much as he could to keep her warm. Not a large creature - as no salamandyr was - he still was quite big compared to the rest of his kind, his dam excluded. She was his size. At any rate, keeping his lovely mate warm and protected was hardly a problem. Anger still stirred beneath the surface, impotent with lack of a target. Long want, Greenqueen stay, the male stated firmly, not bothering to soften his own words. In fact, he wanted her human to hear. No one was taking his Vanityqueen if she didn't want to go. Lust want Vanitylove stay, keep safe, keep warm. Bad means far away.
Moving to one side, the dragonhealer plucked a blanket up off one of the couches - left over from when she'd taken to residing entirely in the infirmary. She wrapped it around his shoulders. The man looked positively thin and wasting...which only made sense, all things considered. "It's no bother," she commented, smiling at him. "That's what I'm here for. It's just a shame that I couldn't be of more help to you. You should be worrying about your own problems until you fully recover, Sel'n," she added seriously.
A brow rose mildly at the brownrider's comment, Kalierre's smile twisting into something that was clearly amused. "R'wign. His particular brand of humor takes some getting used to, yes." She wrinkled her nose good-naturedly. "Of course, most of the healers here would tell you he's far more approachable than I am. Cranky old cripple with a cane. That sort of thing."
Stepping back from the door, she gestured toward the couch with her head. "Please. Sit. Lust doesn't look like he'll be giving up your pet anytime soon. I'm not up to date on everything, but I'm sure I can answer at least some of your questions. You've been down quite a while, it seems."

Vanity purred happily before snuggling against Lust. The green shot a poisonous glare at hers. See she wasn’t going anywhere. So there. Lust had said she was staying so she was. Sel’n didn’t comment. Of course he wasn’t cruel enough to rip her away from her mate. The brownrider was going to remark such when he felt something soft drape across his shoulders. Momentarily taken aback he looked over at Kalierre and actually smiled faintly. “Thank you.” He hadn’t even realized he was cold. Almost mechanically he moved over to the couch and sank gratefully down on it. Shame how weak he’d gotten since coming here. Pulling the blanket closer around himself, Sel’n looked over at the healer again.
“Unapproachable? I’m afraid I don’t share the sentiment. Then again I’m a cripple to. Perhaps we have some sort of strange code of honor amongst each other.” It was a poor attempt at a joke still he voiced it nonetheless. Stretching his feet out in front of him the brownrider sighed. “Not sure how much you’ll be able to tell me. Still I’ll ask.” Absently Sel’n ran a hand through his graying hair. “I woke up here with my abdomen stitched up and two near dead mindmates. The last thing I remember was taking a walk on the beach and then…bam I wake up weeks later, here. I don’t remember anything and Kaaoloth refuses to give me even a snippet of information. If I ask he gets upset and clams up. He has never acted that way before. Even at Fort. No matter what we fought or what we saw nothing ever seemed to disturb him as much as this, whatever this is, has. I guess I just want to know what happened? I am driving myself crazy with not knowing.” The brownrider paused and sighed.
Vanity hissed from her position snuggled with Lust. Means far way. Cripplemine safe. Love much. Stay Lust, Lustpet. Lust safe. Lustpet safe. The brownrider smiled absently at his pet. “Well it seems as if according to Vanity the “means” got me. Not that I can get her to articulate any more information than that. She just repeats.” He waved a hand in the small mandyrs direction as if in dismissal. “R’wign has also been very vague so far. I keep meaning to track him down but the problem with that is he seems to lack the ability to be serious around me. I know he does it just to piss me off and I can’t seem to let it slide either. Call it a dysfunctional relationship.” Clearing his throat Sel’n shook his head. “Feel free to kick me out if I annoy you. To be truthful it’s nice to be able to talk to someone who isn’t trying to jam fellis down my throat, or asking if I need more numbweed, or if I have slept adequately.”

A brow rose mildly at his joke, a wry smile - mostly humorless - crossing her lips. Kalierre's crippled status was still fresh enough, at just over a turn, that she hadn't found it easy to joke too much about. Then again, her crippled status had everything to do with the siege and the dead woman she now refused to name in her head. That Benden brownrider whom she'd even ministered to on occasion had returned the favor by...Well, past was past and dead was dead. Her bitterness and shame remained, even if there weren't many who knew of it. Savitri. Darya. R'fuin. K'von. She was pretty sure they were the only ones who knew the actual details. And Dorava, of course, who had seen it. Kalierre was a proud woman, and didn't handle helplessness well.
Fortunately, the story Sel'n spoke of was quite curious, curious enough to divert her attention adequately. The woman frowned thoughtfully, easing herself up onto her desk and leaning her cane against her knee. The means, huh? What had they been trying to do? Gutting someone was...well, often fatal due to the poisoning of one's internal systems and shock to the body, but it wasn't nearly as efficient or foolproof as other methods. In a struggle it might have made sense, but Sel'n had described being jumped, taken by surprise. It was, indeed, a most curious state of affairs. What purpose could anyone possibly have? Splitting his abdomen open after he'd already been subdued and presumably unconscious?
Unless his fall had somehow resulted in the injury? That seemed highly unlikely, though, and she couldn't imagine why Kaaoloth or R'wign would keep such a detail from him. (For all that he insisted R'wign couldn't be serious around him, the Weyrhealer was usually fully aware of what he was doing and operating under ulterior motives, besides. If he wasn't answering Sel'n's questions, you could almost be certain that it was intentional.)
Kalierre chuckled mildly, true amusement washing over her face. "Lust's distracting, I have to admit. Though there's really no point in belaboring the obvious. You clearly haven't slept enough," she commented teasingly. "Or eaten enough. But I never push numbweed or fellis, considering how obstinate I am. If you haven't gotten it from any of the apprentices at this point, it can be assumed you don't want it. To be honest...I've been leaving the healing to R'wign more and more. Dragonhealing's my specialty, and my responsibility, as the only one with formal training here."
A pause, the woman idly twirling the cane beneath her hand. "You're right; I can't really tell you anything about why you're here, other than the circumstances you describe make little sense to me. What I can do for you is talk to R'wign about it. He's clearly evading."

Sel’n had watched Kalierre’s face as he spoke. Her obvious interest was a good thing. The brownrider wanted to know what had happened. If only because he wanted to keep it from happening again. Oh he knew it was extremely unlikely that it would happen again but, still he was paranoid. Paranoia was probably one of the only things that had kept him alive this long. That and a healthy dose of respect and patience. One didn’t survive long without a good head on their shoulders after all. Sel’n could feel Kaaoloth shift in the back of his mind. The brown had finally taken it upon himself to go hunting, about time too. The brownrider adjusted the blanket again and fought the urge to close his eyes.
When the dragonhealer spoke again he shifted his legs to a more comfortable position. “Yes. I will admit I haven’t slept near enough. Too be fair I have a hard time sleeping when I am uncomfortable and I haven’t exactly been comfortable. No fault of the healers of course. Any pain I feel from my injury is minimal. My mind won’t rest. That’s why sleep is evasive at best.” As the comment on his eating habits went….Sel’n was picky. The brownrider usually refused anything he didn’t prepare himself and he most certainly didn’t usually drink anything given to him by others. Another point of paranoia. Poisoning was too easy to accomplish here at Selenitas apparently. He decided not commenting was best.
Dragonhealer. Of course, now he remembered. Apparently sleep depravity doesn’t suit you. Kaaoloth of course, had to stick his nose in everything. Paranoid beast. I thought you where eating. Takes one to know one and I am. Sel’n felt the satisfaction in his dragon’s mind voice as he took his first buck down. Then by all means stuff your face. I’ll sleep when I’m dead. Comforting. Breaking from the contact he turned his attention back to Kalierre. “I don’t suppose you’d take a look at Vanity for me while she’s here? Her appetite hasn’t really returned and her color is still off. Although perhaps now that she has seen Lust again it will remedy? I know she has been worried but I thought there should be more improvement in her color than there has been. Maybe I am just over thinking it?” Vanity perked up a bit at the mention of her name but quickly lost interest in favor of bathing Lust’s frill.
Sel’n watched her for a moment before continuing. “I would appreciate it greatly if you would speak to R’wign for me. I am sure you will have more luck than I. Then again maybe he really doesn’t have a clue either. If the circumstances confuse you, you can imagine how I feel. By all rights I should be dead. I think I got lucky.” Vanity punctuated that statement with a hiss as Kaaoloth sent his silent reassurances.

Feeling that it would probably be on the rather inapprorpiate side to point out that Sel'n looked...well, like shit...and it wasn't that surprising that his mindmates would be reflecting that, Kalierre nodded mutely. It couldn't hurt, after all, and Lust certainly wouldn't object to her taking a closer look at his mate. He was inordinately worried for her, and relieved, and protective, and a whole other mix of emotions that almost made her want to roll her eyes. Big strong male gone soft, that one. He hissed softly at her thoughts, and she just smirked at him.
"Not a problem," the greenrider returned easily, even though R'wign had been...avoiding her more or less since he'd gotten her to stop drinking herself into a giggly stupor and crashing in the infirmary to avoid K'von and the disappointment she was certain her weyrmate was harboring after the miscarriage. (Turned out that wasn't the case at all...or at least that the disappointment was in the situation and not her specifically. It was actually rather strange; she'd never felt more secure in her relationship with the man than now.) Kalierre wasn't sure if it was her losing the baby or their earlier spat. R'wign had been curiously absent in her life - other than that time with the liquor - ever since their conversation about his emotions had gone sour. It wasn't as if she was a mindhealer or something. Of course, getting mad at him probably hadn't helped.
Ah well, it was about time they talked again, anyway.
"Perhaps you did. I don't know...he has to have his reasons, but I'm pretty sure he would have told you under normal circumstances. This is a bit more serious than a scrape." She'd rescued Lust and Vanity from their lofty perch, tracing a finger along the intertwined mandyrs as the bronze set about systematically attempting to lick his mate shiny again. "Lust?" He responded to the mental prodding with a low growl that was more acknowledgement than protest. Tell, GreenqueenMine. Hungry some? Food want? Sleep can?

Sel’n nodded mutely as Kalierre spoke. Yes much more serious than just some scrape or accident. Something about the whole thing just felt horribly wrong to him. The fact that the brownrider couldn’t remember more than snatches of the event drove him crazy. He felt Kaaoloth’s unease with the thought and tried his best to push it from his mind. Instead he concentrated on Vanity as the dragonhealer picked her up. He had most certainly not been ignoring the mandyr. If anything he had been spoiling her rotten and still she looked pale. Hopefully it was just backlash from their bond. Last thing he needed was a sick mandyr.
Oh the green needed to gain a bit of weight and color, but that was being remedied as well as he could. It took time for weight gain after all. Still there was this nagging bit of himself that was angry. How could he have let his family get to such a state? It is not your fault Selminelove. Neither the little sister or I blame you. You could hardly care for us comatose and you are still recovering both physically and mentally it seems. We are both fine. Hardly at death’s door with you chiding us to eat constantly. Perhaps you should take some of your own advice? It is about time you ate and slept a bit. You are tired and don’t argue, I feel it. I know Kaao. I know.
Vanity purred as Kali ran her finger along her body. She didn’t detach herself from Lust’s side however. Instead she merely paused in her frill bathing to lick the dragonhealer’s palm in a gesture of good will. Hi Lustpet. Member pretty Vanity? Vanity member Lustpet. Lustpet nice is. What want Lustpet? The small green blinked up at the healer expectantly. The mandyr had never harbored any ill will towards Kalierre. Mostly because Kali was Lust’s and thus hers by proxy just as she shared Sel’n. (not that anyone wanted him.) It also helped that Vanity didn’t feel like she had to compete with Kalierre for attention. She viewed the dragonhealer as a bronze who tended to act female on occasion. She liked Kalierre which Sel’n found odd because she absolutely loathed Dorava. (Solely, Sel’n believed, because at one time the green rider had stolen his attention. No one stole attention from Vanity.) Lust’s words drew a chirp from the green and she nuzzled him happily. Hungry yes. Sleep no want. No want leave Lust. Loooove Lust very much ~

Lust repeated Vanity's words to Kalierre in private, as he'd started doing with other salamandyrs. The little creatures were smart, yes, but they never seemed to fully grasp - or maybe it was fully accept - that she genuinely couldn't hear their broadcasts. That part of her mind was broken, and had been since the siege. Perhaps it was tied, in part, to her own emotions, that mild empathic ability that she'd strained to the breaking point. If so, that might explain why she had so much trouble identifying with emotions now. The woman chuckled. "Oh yes, I remember you. You and the suburn I shared with Jermayan because your human decided to be on the other side of Pern when you let Lust catch you." The bronze eyed her mildly. Let. He was the best; Vanity was the best. It just was. There was no letting. Kalierre wrinkled her nose at him. "A very beautiful, nice salamandyr you are."
What? Vanity had always been nice to her. And Lust had mellowed almost immediately after mating with her - it wasn't just his sadness when she disappeared. He'd calmed long before that. Was still very bronze, very male, very dominant...but he wasn't terrorizing the infirmary much anymore.
"Lust told me how you helped keep our infirmary safe. You're looking a little pale now, though, Vanity. That pretty hide isn't as shiny. I want to make you all nice and shiny again, so everyone knows you're the most beautiful." Oh yes, her line of work had her in contact with these creatures often. Kalierre had developed the language. "Were you just worried about Yours? Nothing hurts, right? You don't feel sick?" Hungry, Lust informed His tersely. He nuzzled his mate. Greenqueen very hungry.
Right. She fished out a mixture, heavy on egg but with a fair mix of other things good for a salamandyr's diet, placing the small, shallow container on her desk and setting the pair down beside it. Lust urged Vanity toward it. Eat, he stated gently. No leave Lust. Curl around, watch Vanity sleep, keep safe. Go with Yours, Vanity want. Kalierre blinked at him. Leave the infirmary? He almost never did that while she was still here. But then, it was Vanity, after all, and she wasn't oblivious to his worry.

The compliment, that she was a nice, beautiful mandyr, was taken with relish. How nice of Lustpet to say such. Of course she was the most beautiful nicest mandyr. She wasn’t the Greenqueen for nothing. Vanity basked in the praise and even gave Kailierre’s palm a appreciative lick. But oh her hide was so much less shiny? Of course the little mandyr knew this, but hearing it again only served to make her unhappy. With a concerned chirp, she again evaluated her pale hide. Not pretty it was. Oh but Lustpet was talking again. The mandyr focused yellow green eyes on the dragonhealer and considered. No hurt Greenqueen. No sick Greenqueen. Cripplemine gone long time. Not hungry, not sleepy. Cripplemine back. Now hungry, sleepy. Also yes worrie. Cripplemine dummy. Have too worrie. Content that she had expressed the stupidity of her mindpet she returned her attention to Lust.
Her love was speaking to her. Vanity’s tongue stoked alongside the bronze’s jaw as he nudged her toward the food. Hungry is. Thank Lustpet? She offered before sniffing at the offered food. It was actually quite irresistible and she gulped greedy mouthfuls of it. Is Yum. She offered to hers as she felt his curious mental brush. Had he forgotten to feed her this morning? The brownrider couldn’t remember. Which upset him.
Kaaoloth quickly involved himself however. You didn’t forget. She didn’t eat. He didn’t comment that she hadn’t eaten because she was too busy arguing that hers needed to eat first. Thankfully however Sel’n remained distracted and Kaaoloth was saved from having to lie. “She likes that. Whatever it is your feeding her, can I get the recipe? I mostly just feed her tidbits of whatever I eat or scraps from the kitchen but I always worry her diet isn’t varied enough.” Concern for his little pet was currently utmost in his mind. Which amused Kaaoloth to no end considering he didn’t want Vanity in the first place and often complained about her to anyone who would listen.
Having finished with her meal Vanity set to cleaning her muzzle. Never mind that she was a extremely clean eater and never got messy, cleaning was almost ritual to her. Tilting her head towards her mate she chirped the sound decidedly happy. Lust stay? Much want Lust stay. Keep safe, watch. Nuzzling under her mate’s jaw she flicked a glance towards Kalierre. Lustpet ok Lust leave? To be completely honest she didn’t want to leave hers. Because he was a dummy. Lust make dumb Cripplemine listen? Make eat? Make sleep? Because he was the King and of course hers would have to listen to him. Plus the faster he got better the faster she would be able to stay with Lust whenever she wanted. Vanity liked her freedom.
Unaware of his pets portrayal of his actions Sel’n watched her with concern for a moment before looking away towards Kalierre again. Now that both of his pets had eaten he was all to acutely aware that he was hungry as well. Also tired. Then is it time for you to eat and sleep as well. I am outside. Perhaps you should say your goodbyes my love. There is nothing more she can tell you anyway. Kaaoloth’s not so subtle prodding had Sel’n squirming awkwardly. “Kaaoloth is concerned that I need to sleep and eat. He won’t take no for an answer. I don’t want to take Lust if you would rather he stay.” The brownrider smiled softly at Kalierre. “I’d feel like a mandyr napper.”

Well, that was that, then. If it was just a matter of worry, Vanity would be fine soon enough, as long as Sel'n took care of himself. "She was just worried for you, it seems, brownrider," Kalierre told him quietly. "If you take care of yourself - and do come back in if for any reason things start getting bad again - she should be looking better in no time." The dragonhealer paused long enough to regard the salamandyr seriously a little longer. "Just bring her back in if she doesn't start recovering here soon." Because, most likely, that meant Sel'n wasn't. She thought it far more likely he'd come back to help the mandyr than himself. Northern men could be so stubborn.
The dragonhealer laughed. "It's just egg, mostly. A couple other things to round out the diet, but all salamandyrs love eggs...especially flitter eggs, it seems. Here." She shuffled through the papers on her desk, finding one that she didn't really need anymore and jotted the ingredients down in her neat hand. "Nothing needs to be cooked. You should be able to get it from the kitchens...tell them that I said Vanity needs it for a sevenday. Eggs are precious, and she doesn't need it all the time, but for now it should help her regain her strength quicker."
Lust crooned to his mate, nuzzling her lovingly. VanityQueen, the infirmary protector. How he'd missed her. Lust say Lustpet okay, Lustpet okay, the bronze stated definitively, earning a chuckle from Kalierre. Lust was definitely revitalizing, if he was thinking to order her around again. Tch. Lust make CrippleYours good bonebag, eat, sleep, pet much, be nice. Yes.
"Oh, I've no problem with it. If he's determined he'll just sneak out on his own, anyway. I feel more comfortable with letting him go with you. Get some rest, Sel'n."
