G'tor sighed, but looked down at Star fondly. She snoozing in the palm of his hand, her stomach distended from her recent gorge on pie. He had managed to clean most of the berry juice off, but her white skin was now quite purple. She had certainly giving him a fright, disappearing like that. He was just thankful no one had swallowed her by mistake. It wouldn't have been hard. She was quite the troublemaker. If only he had an extra pair of eyes to keep an eye on her.
An idea came to him and he stop to examine a cart full of eggs. Maybe a fire lizard would keep Star in line? Of course, it might just as likely help cause more trouble. But at least his little darling would have a friend to play with while he and Ruskeath were busy. He tucked the blue pillow he had bought earlier under his arm and leaned to have a closer look. "How much are these?" he asked, picking up one of the smaller ones to examine more closely. He didn't think he could afford a large one and a large fire lizard might just eat Star.

A dark green fire lizard perched on the far side of the egg container trilled a warning at the brownrider, flaring her wings. These were not his eggs, no no no no no! He needed to trade for them he did! He did he did he did!
The young woman attending the cart moved to gather her small green from her perch, and offered G'tor a small smile. "Six marks fer that one. Most of the smaller ones are five." She explained, pointing out a few of the smaller, paler eggs on display.

G'tor blinked at the fire lizard and carefully set the egg down. "Don't worry," he told her. "I won't take them." He turned to smile at the woman. "Small would probably be best," he admitted. He examined the collection of smaller eggs and selected one that looked good. It was pale and hard, but warm to the touch. He reached into his pouch for five marks and handing them to the woman. "How long before it hatches, do you think?"

The woman extended her hand to accept the small wooden disks offered to her. Her flitter chirruped sharply, ruffling her wings and staring intently at the small egg. He bonded offered her a brief glance, then nodded toward G'tor. "Not long now. Half a day, maybe less." it would be a good baby, the green warbled resolutely. A good, strong baby.
