A warm breeze drifted across his skin as X'vier stretched out on the beach. The sun beamed down, its rays caressing his skin in warmth. He lay back, arms beneath his head in total contentment as he let his mind drift away from everything that has been going on. Beside him, settled in sand, was a small carving with his knife and wood shavings scattered near it.
As his mind drifted in semi consciousness he entered the mind of his dragon Mirazeth. The dragon was not far away. Partially submerged in water, the contrast of warm sun and cool water felt very good. X'vier could feel how Mirazeth's claws sank into the bed bottom. Water pulled against hide and claw in a futile effort to drag him downstream as he waded the river. He ruffled his wings, letting water splash into the air. The water felt excellent and he swished his tail around, enjoying the sensation. Birds squawked in irritation at the brown.
He didn't care, he dunked his head-----
"WHAT?!?! Passion!" X;vier sat up sputtering as a blue salamandyr landed on his face and scribbled across his body in an effort to reach the water. SWIM SWIM! He heard in his mind as the blue terror went into the water.
"Well, so much for relaxing." He said to himself.

It was gorgeous outside today, and between the strenuous life of a candidate, Vellani found a lull. It wasn't much of a lull, more like trying to avoid the candidate master at all costs so she didn't get roped into more work. She didn't think that it was exactly shirking her duties more than it was just she was done with what she was told to do, but she wanted to get the hell out of there before she was told to do more. In the preceding months, Ani found that it was quite easy to sneak up on people. She was surprised with the ease with which she made it around almost silently. This was very odd considering how clumsy she was usually. If she could manage to make it through something without breaking or twisting something, then she found that she could be quite the force.
Today, she decided that she was going to the lake. It was actually kinda hot out and feeling the water on her skin would be a nice difference from the breezeless air that was assaulting her now. So, grabbing a fur that she could use to dry off, the girl made her way to the river, trying to avoid anyone of authority as much as she possibly could, and it wasn't hard, considering how they were focusing on the other candidates. As she walked, her mind drifted off. Perhaps, once she was done swimming she could take a nap. The girl hadn't gotten much sleep the night before and any...
Suddenly, she was broke out of her revere by a loud splashing followed by some words yelled out into the previous silence. The candidate jumped almost two full feet in the air. Certain that she had just had or was about to have a heart attack she followed the sound of the splashing, hoping to track the origin of it. She wasn't sure exactly what she was going to do when she got there, but she decided to try and cross that bridge when she got there.
Sneaking up on the scene, Ani hid herself in a stand of dense vegetation, and pale blue eyes found the form of the dragon rider there. The girl wasn't surprised that she could sneak up on this rider when she saw what he was doing; playing around in the water with his hyperactive flit. She took this opportunity to look the rider over. He was quite good looking...very, in fact. If course he was probably a tad too old for her, but that wouldn't stop her from looking.

X'vier shook his head as his Salamandyr splashed around in the water. The sweat that had formed on his body from sun bathing was now plastering him in sand thrown up by the Passion as he raced over X'vier's body. Since he was covered in sand he stood up and jogged to the water, jumping in. Once for enough out, he dunked his head under water....then rose up closer to his salamandyr Passion. A wicked grin appeared in his face as he proceeded to dunk the creature under water. Stop! Stop! No Good Pet! Passion exclaimed as he worked his way back to the surface and on to the beach. He raised his frill at X'vier and rattled it...sticking his tongue out for good measure. It was all posturing though....Passion was in a very good mood. He dashed off...diving into some bushes where his dive was stopped short by something solid. He darted back, frill raised before he realized what he'd bumped into.
As soon as he realized he's dived into a female he relaxed, wiggling his frill playfully at her. Hello Lady, pretty Lady. Friendly Passion yes? The salamander spoke to her, wiggling his frill playfully. His sudden interest in some one caught X'vier's attention. Who was hiding in the bush? He walked out of the river and towards the bushes....

The girl was distracted, probably by the sight of the brownrider's body. It was nice to look at, and it didn't seem to matter to the candidate that she was swooning over most of the guys she came across. It wasn't her fault that she was a teenage girl and most of the guys in the weyr were attractive to her. What was she supposed to do, live like a nun? That wasn't the most promising life. She liked looking at guys. Even if most of them probably wouldn't be into her because she was an overdramatic little thing with a flair for the outlandish. She knew she was a little nuts, so it didn't bother her so much when she was called such.
So yes, she was distracted by X'vier...probably more than she should have been, because next thing you know something firm and blue was slamming into her face. " AHHHHHOOOHHHMMYYYGAWWWDDD" She fell backwards into the dirt, the offending salamandyr. Convinced that it was flying around her head, intent on eating her various squishy bits, she backed up a little in the dirt.
" DON'T EAT ME PLEASE. OH FARANTH I'M TOO YOUNG TO DIEEEE." Yet another occurrence of poor Ani freaking out. Why did things insist on attacking her?

X'vier's suspicions where confirmed as a shrill feminine voice started yelling in the bush. The panicked note made X'vier hurry over to where he found a young woman scrambling from Passion. Her blond hair tousled across her pale shoulders. Passion was scrambling back as well! His frill now tucked in as he avoided the hysterical woman. No Pretty, BAAAAAD! Seeing X'vier he found sancurary up his leg into a pocket. From there he decided to poke his head out and flutter his frill.Sweet Pretty please? He implored her.
"Hey calm down." He said and he placed a firm, but gentle hand on a flailing wrist. Once her attention was on him he continued. "Its okay, Passion didn't mean to frighten you so badly. Why don't you come out of the bushes? Its harder for things to run into you when in plain view...." He gestured to the shore and water where sunlight beckoned. Automatically his eyes did their customary sweep over the girl. He noticed her hair, lovely blond scattered everywhere from her antics as well as her wide eyes. She seemed young for him though. Since he didn't know her he assumed she was a candidate which placed her off limits. He avoided candidates as much as possible. Much better to wait till they are flying rather than risk playing with someone too young or inexperienced in personal relationships. One thing he did notice though was the shape of her body....which made him wonder if she would make a good dance partner. Naturally the man's mind had gone through these thoughts rather quickly and was simply waiting for to see if she'd take his invitation or run.
