[Earlier this turn]
She was stretched out in her furs, thinking over everything that had happened since she left the hold. It amazed her how much she had learned....and how much she had changed.
It wasn't much of a physical change...she was still the tanned, tall girl who exercised and ran around....perhaps more now that she had Uminth.
The change was more in her mindset and her thoughts. She was calmer now....not as prone to run off or skip chores...she forgot things sometimes...but as she aged her memory became better. At the weyr a sense of duty and purpose had grown inside her while the few bad incidents had given her a better insight to the world...and made her somewhat more serious.
She yawned now... enjoying just spending an evening relaxing instead of running around as usual.
*CRACK!*
Her eyes jerked as she realized she had almost drowsed off. "Whats that?"
*CRACK!*
Jerking her head towards Uminth she saw her green cradling a tiny egg in her front paws, crooning encouragement. She walked over, surprised. "Its finally hatching?" The happy emotions traveling through her link from Uminth made her smile.
I'll never have my own hatchlings...so what could be better than encouraging my little cousin? Uminth said happily.
With a final crack so much softer than the others a hole appeared. Instead of a head like Kalina expected, a tail shot out and wiggled. Kalina laughed in the sillyness of it as a butt followed and the fire lizards crawled out backwards.
Get that snack of yours thats still sitting on the table Kalimine. Uminth reminded her eagerly. Kalina quickly grabbed the last slice of meat from what she had pilfered in the kitchen left overs. The brown, creeling in hunger, snapped it up then looked at her as if she had been too slow. The emotions of the fire lizard were strong. Kalina sat next to Uminth and stroked him.
What shall we name him Kalimine?
"Arcturius." She said...making up sounds she liked together.
Name: ? ? ?
Looks To:
Species: Fire Lizard
Color: Brown (#341500)
Age: Hatchling
Physical Appearance: This flitter makes up in sheer glamour what he lacks in originality. A rich shade of chocolate brown envelops his rather lithe frame from nose to tail. While this alone would be enough to make him undeniably handsome, his patterning is what truly catches the eye. Swirling against the dark surface of his hide are a multitude of tiny, creamy-white spots, arranged with the precision of a jewler to form an intricate, windblown pattern that is almost hypnotic in it's complexity. His eyes are rimmed with the same pale colour, adding an extra dose of intensity to whatever emotion he is feeling. His wingspan is rather average, save for the fact that the membrane is a dazzling shade of translucent gold. However, the transparent quality may be more to his disadvantage than his benefit, as careless flying runs the risk of him suffering terrible injuries to his wings.
Personality: Generally cool and analytical, this flitter looks down on everyone to some degree. The fact that he is extraordinarily attractive falls to the wayside of what he considers to be a boundless intellect. Indeed, this brown will pride himself on outwitting others, and His would be wise to ensure that he always has messenger and memorization work to keep him occupied. When he has nothing better to do, this brown will spend his time seeking out and insulting the intelligence of 'lesser creatures' such as greens, blues and salamandyrs. While not particularly cowardly, fighting is not something that he enjoys nor is very good at. A mind -most specifically a mind as beautiful as his- is a terrible thing to have bashed in. It goes without saying that this high and mighty brown will only chase queen flitters, but he is just inconsiderate enough to string along a pretty green when he needs his ego stroked.
