Kalina roamed through the stalls set by the caravan. Today she had more marks than she remembered having on her own. She paused by the cloth for a bit and fingered some fabric thoughtfully before moving on. As she moved between stalls Uminth was sunning happily. Kalina could sense she was almost asleep. If it weren't for her excitement and the pocket full of marks she'd have felt drowsy and comfy too.
Her wandering eventually brought her to a stall with various eggs. She looked them over with a curious eye. There where so many! Her eyes came to rest on the larger flitter eggs. Uminth...I think I am going to pick up a flitter egg and see what comes of it. She felt Uminth stir...shifting to warm another part.
Why by one when you live in a Weyr? Others will come along eventually. Kalina's mind was set though. She wanted to know what that egg would hatch into.
"Excuse me sir." She said politely when he finished with some one else. "What would be the price of this egg?" She pointed to an egg in the large Flitter stack.

The young man behind the counter smiled at Kalina as she approached the counter, glancing down at the egg she pointed to. He paused for a moment as if to think something over, then returned his full attention to her.
“For you hun, I can let that one go for ten marks. Just don’t you go tellin’ anyone -I only offer that price to the pretty girls.”
He flashed her a deliberately flirtatious wink.

She pretended to think for a moment, already armed with the knowledge he has sold others for more. She flashes him one of her winning smiles as she reaches a 'decision'. She moved closer, allowing a finger to trail across the egg shell. "My lips are sealed for your sake." She said, allowing herself to lean in towards the egg, and thus him. "I'll give you ten marks for this one." She reached in her pocket and removed the marks. Her tawny eyes twinkled in mischievousness. After all, no one ever bothered to complement her. It felt kinda nice.
Does this mean you're going after that cloth from earlier too? Uminth asked curiously.
It means...I'll be having a little more fun here. Kalina replied happily.

The young man offered Kalina a knowing tip of his head, and carefully extricated the flitter egg she had requested from it’s siblings. He placed it gently into her hands.
“Hope it hatches gold for you hun. Take care now, the both of ye.”
