Human:
Name: T'ke (Toumke)
Age: 27 (Born in January, 2996)
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Rank: Wing Rider
Image: Jamie Bell
Physical Appearance: T'ke is tall, already approaching six feet. His long fingers are nimble, but his large feet sometimes make him trip. His limbs are gangly and have a disproportionate look. He hasn’t quite grown into his height yet, so he is not the most handsome of boys. His appearance is too much like a scarecrow. His eyes are a pale, watery blue that lack any spark of interest. His thin hair is a plan, dusty brown and he wears it short to his ears. His skin is a bit too pale, as if he has spent little time in the sun. He doesn't have the strong look of a boy who has exercised much, and would probably be growing pudgy if he were not growing so tall. He doesn't bother to take much care for his appearance, so his clothes are the first thing he grabs in the morning. It usually ends up being a wrinkled tunic and pants that are practical, if not well cared for.
Personality: He is practical to a fault, to the point of being distinctly pessimistic. He always seems to find the worst in every situation and feel the need to point out possible downsides or worst case scenario. This can make him appear gloomy and distant, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't step up to help a friend in time of need. Not that he has ever had the chance to test himself in that regard, as he has not had many friends. He can take a long time to trust others and prefers his own company much of the time. He is quite smart, which is part of why he can discern the downside in everything. This usually allows him to find ways out of bad situations, despite all his complaining. He tends to be sarcastic and will start talking more quickly as he grows afraid or panicked.
History: Toumke’s family breeds and raises runnerbeasts in Selenitas Hold. His father, Kertash, takes pride in the speed and endurance of his beasts. Toumke's mother, Tomrea, died giving birth to him and his father remarried almost at once. Kertash spent nearly all his time working, so he left the house in his new wife's care. Toumke's new stepmother, Ruwja, did not care for him and instead devoted most of her time to her own son and Toumke's half brother, Kerjuw. Toumke spent most of his young life avoiding both her glare and the arrogant attitude of his brother.
As the eldest, Kertash had expected Toumke to carry on his business, but the boy had not interest in getting near the beasts. When he was five, Toumke began riding lessons. One his first day, the runner bucked him off and into the river. He floundered in the fast current and nearly drowned before his father pulled him out. Afterwards, Toumke refused to go anywhere near the beasts, claiming that they were far too dangerous. He stayed clear of the water as well. Kertash tried several other times to build up his sons courage, but soon gave up to concentrate on Kerjuw instead. He didn't have time to waste on a useless son, who already reminded him too much of his dead wife.
Left alone, Toumke grew more and more pessimistic about life. Everything had always gone wrong, so he saw no reason why it would ever go right. Which was why, when a Searchrider came to the Hold, Toumke hadn't even bothered to volunteer. Instead, he had been pulled out of the crowd and declared fit to be a new candidate. At first he had refused to go, but his father had set him off, saying that at least as a Candidate he had a chance to do something useful. Toumke thought it was more likely his father was sick of looking at him, but he went just the same. At least at the Weyr he wouldn't have to put up with his mother and brother anymore.
Much to his shock, he impressed to the blue dragon Garaeth at the hatching of Aslath's last clutch. With a personality so unlike his, T'ke and Garaeth can often be found arguing with each other over the smallest things. Yet, even if he won't admit it, Garaeth has brightened T'ke's outlook on life considerably. At least he now has a constant ear to complain to and Garaeth is an eager listener, as well as full of his own opinions.
The poisonings and most especially the siege have left T'ke in a depressed state. Though he survived the battle, he dwells on the fact that he could not find a solution that would have saved more lives. Even more so, was his inability to cope to the point of fainting at a critical moment. He is sure that everyone must think him pathetic , and even debates whether or not it he should have lived at all. Garaeth tries to keep his spirits up, but it is a difficult task. T'ke never had much confidence in himself to begin with, and this has placed him at an all time low. Only Garaeth keeps him from falling completely into despair.
During Fort's attack for the High Reaches refugees, T'ke was trapped inside the infirmary where he once again fainted when a Fort rider killed one of the healer apprentices. He woke in time to help Kalierre surprise their captures, though almost unsuccessfully. He then did his best to help the injured Kali, despite his fear of blood. Afterward, Kali convinced him to help out in the infirmary to get over his squeamishness.
Stuck at Selenitas after the Wasteland take over, T'ke has been placed on Alpha Wing under Ja'kin, the new Weyrleader. This position leaves him somewhat nervous and paranoid of making mistakes. He still finds time to help in the infirmary when possible and has formed a lasting crush on Erilena, after Garaeth's successful catch during her dragon, Feyrianth's, Flight. For the most part, he is too awkward and clumsy to really act on his feelings. With her marriage to Dmitri, he's been happy enough to stay just friends.
Fighting his former friends was tormenting for T'ke and Garaeth which culminated in T'ke's embarrassing tumble from his dragon's back. At least his broken leg left him out of possible further engagements for a while. T'ke was little help during the earthquake, which left he and Garaeth trapped until rescue arrived. Afterwards, they were more than happy to see the two groups return to normal, though the loss of life was sobering.
Given T'ke's squeamish nature and Garaeth's positive one, the pair chose to join the Thread fighting wings instead of fighting against the North. They did, however, volunteer to assist the Healers with triage and transport after the battle as best they could. T'ke was relieved that the war was finally over, but worried that the Summit decisions would cause more problems then they fixed. He wasn't overly fond of moving North either, since he'd heard only unhappy things about it in the past. He took the time to visit C'oar and Erilena every now and then, though, and started to adjust to his new life. He also became better friends with Farryl as Peppeth and Garaeth were clutchmates.

Name: Garaeth
Age: 11 turns
Color: Blue 27408B
Appearance: As far as blues go, Garaeth isn't one to catch much attention. His dark blue hide isn't the prettiest of shades, but neither is it ugly. He is a good, average blue color all over, without even the smallest of imperfections. On his headknobs, however, they are smoother than usual. In fact, they are quite shiny, and look metallic in the sunlight. Because this area is very sensitive, he loves to be stroked there, and being pinched there will hurt doubly for poor Garaeth. Fortunately, as that is an odd place to get Threadscored, he will probably enjoy that sensitive spot more than hating it.
Size-wise, Garaeth is still very average. He is, it would seem, the "perfect blue". He is a very good working dragon, with reasonable, but not excellent, stamina for a blue. He is built to do whatever is needed by the wing. If needed to work with the greens, he is certainly able to do so. If he has to work with browns, he will work as hard as they do and try to last as long as he can. His wings are long and sturdy, but again, they are average. One thing that is good for him, however, is that he is muscular, rather than fat. His muscles make the perfect balance of speed and power, without the barest hint of fat. So while he may be average, it is definitely a very good kind of average. 28 ft. from nose to tail
Personality: A good balance to a pessimistic rider, Garaeth's happiness is likely to improve anyone's mood. Even if it means forsaking realism, this blue always sees the cup half-full, even when the odds are against him. Perhaps he can be called the "Pollyanna" of dragons. He is always happy about something, and sees the best in bad situations. While it might be annoying at times, it can certainly work at others. His advice is always the kind that you want to hear, even if you do have to take it with a grain of salt. Fortunately, he seems to know where the line is between "optimistic" and "obnoxious", for he will never run around squeeing out of happiness. Though he wants to spread cheer, he will not make a fool out of himself for the sake of it.
Garaeth is a very sensible dragon, something he shares with his mindmate. Even though he doesn't think realistically at times, he is quite smart-- for a blue, anyway. He will always point out what would be the best thing to do for the best consequences, but won't hesitate to talk about alternatives that are better-sounding, even if they aren't necessarily as good. He has the uncanny ability to see the best in every thing that it is possible to do-- he seems to overlook the negative outcomes, which can at times be frustrating. However, he would never point his rider to do something that would be bad. Whatever he suggests will always work, but other outcomes of those actions are negligible.

Salamandyrs[/u]
Name: Shard
Age: Adult
Color: Green 344B39
Based Off Of: Kalina
Physical Description: This green is unusually… tall, for a salamandyr, with a more pronounced body than is normal for her species. But the height really is what stands out: each of her legs is long enough to seem bizarre for a creature of her size, definitely disproportionate. Her wings are also long for her body, with the ends brushing the ground when she keeps them folded at her sides, pretty much regardless of what kind of posture she holds, she’s bound to look unusual. Her length is not all that impressive either, which goes to make her height all the more unusual, and to compensate she may end up crouching from time to time. There are some advantages to this height: she’s exceptionally fast on the ground, if slightly less graceful than her green sisters, though like most salamandyrs, she actually cannot fly. What she can do is spread her frill to umbrella down from high locations, because her frill is on the massive side when displayed, though she prefers to simply hop from point A to point B to get wherever she wants to go. Much easier than embarrassing herself by doing a firelizard impression, right? Other than the legs and then wings, she’s proportioned well: neither fat, nor skinny, with the typical long and slender tail that makes her species stand out. If only she wasn’t so… leggy.
As far as coloration goes: she’s gray-green, quite plain, at least on first glance. The shade is enough to lean more to sickly shades than anything the other brilliant salamandyrs would behold, but looks can be deceiving. When caught by the light, the green sheen has an unusually sea-foam shade of brilliance that sparkles almost as if metallic. Interestingly, she lacks the spots that most of the smaller colored salamandyrs possess, instead having a very prominent marking that spreads over her entire back in a shade of ivy-leaf green: it starts at the base of her neck and spreads down to the base of her tail, twisting into a blotch that very distinctly resembles a violin. The same shade of green covers her entire frill, adding a splash of color to her otherwise stormy skin. She’s green – let there be no doubt as to that.
Personality: Around females, this salamandyr is extremely outgoing, energetic and friendly. She has a youthful naiveté that can be extremely endearing to those who spend much time around her. She’s independent and adventurous, prone to sneaking off on her own to explore the Weyr or hidden places. Getting into things (including trouble) is one of her favorite pastimes, and so it won’t be unusual for her to wander away from her mindmate for blocks of time – not because she’s not insanely fond of her chosen but because she has to know what the world around her is like. The kitchens? Excellent place to check out. The Creche? What’s that? Hatching Sands! Why’s everyone swarming there? Sneaking around and peeking into boxes, jars, rooms, or other locations where there’s something to examine. One of her favorite things to do is to talk other greens (firelizards or salamandyrs, it makes no difference) into exploring new things with her – new locations, secret places, the works. Sometimes she’ll even share these secrets with Hers! And it means a lot that Hers encourage her to enjoy herself and her independence, for her mindmate is her favorite person of all.
The weird thing though? Despite being quite cheerful and outgoing with other females, she’s extremely shy with males and will actively hide on her mindmate’s person any time she’s approached by a male of any species. Hiding under clothes and/or in hair is not uncommon and she can’t speak to males with any level of coherency. She’s normally quite eloquent, but – her competence goes down rapidly when approached by boys. Stammering one-word responses is not unusual, and those who know her might find this sudden shyness strange. It’s certainly not like her at all. She’s socially awkward with males as well, having a habit of blurting out the wrong sort of things to say without thinking things through, or sneaking around staring when they don’t know she’s there. ‘Stalker’ might be an accurate description of her when it comes to males she likes. She doesn’t mean to be, but she’s not very good at expressing herself face-to-face. Little gifts from a secret admirer is more her style.
She has a particular fondness for brightly colored creatures, and she favors firelizards over salamandyrs. She also likes the mysterious; beings that aren’t so easy to understand. Getting to know them is just like her adventures and she takes great pride in doing just that! No adventure is too great for her!

Do to illness during the 3017 Flitter Plague, she is now blind.
Shard chose Rhino, a brown salamandyr bonded to Iskierka, currently residing at Burimyu.
Name: Gara
Age: Hatchling
Born: May 3017
Color: Blue ~ Base coloration: [00FFFF], Eye spot, wing membranes, swirls: [000080]
Species: Mandyr
Looks to: T’ke
Physical Appearance:
It would seem that this male takes the most after his dam. Especially in his size. He is absolutely massive for a blue mandyr even from birth. He will be near the size of a large bronze mandyr in fact when he is done growing. It is almost a shame that he will not have the strong muscular build of his metallic brethren. No instead he is pleasantly plump and if his does not monitor his food take efficiently he will be downright fat. From his head to his short and chubby tail he is thick. He will never be a slim or even normal sized mandyr especially around his belly area. Despite his weight he gets around okay even if he /does/ waddle when he walks. This mandyr never seems to be in any hurry unless there is food involved in fact. He’s most comfortable riding with his bonded or hitching rides on whatever he can. Large wings grace his back and they certainly tend to be useful for getting place to place. However they can not hold him up in extended flight so at best he can use them for short bursts of true flight and extended glides. It’s much faster then walking everywhere given his size, so if he cannot hitch a ride with someone he tends to use his wings a lot. Instead of a frill he has spines that ring his head. Instead of being straight however they twist from the base to the tip.
Most of this large mandyr’s hide is a almost blinding shade of aqua blue. In fact if you stare at it too long it might actually give you a headache. He certainly does not lack in brightness of hue and his hide will always have this blinding quality as long as he is in good health. Thankfully a few markings break up the extreme brightness to his hide. A perfect circle of dark navy rings his left eye, the color spreading over his wing membranes as well. The color appears again in swirled markings down his back almost as if someone was practicing their cursive upon his back.
Personality:
Perhaps at odds with his vibrant, cheerful, and near blinding color this blue isn’t very cheerful at all. In fact he’s quite the rain cloud most days and certainly not one you’ll ever see skipping through fields of flowers. This isn’t to say he’s always doom and gloom. No he has is days where he is carefully optimistic that maybe today will be a good day, but for the most part he’s quite the pessimist. Preferring to be what he calls ‘realistic’ rather then stupidly believing everything will just turn up roses. Perhaps one good side to this is that while he himself is mostly doom and gloom nobody else around him is allowed to be. In fact he has an obsession with trying to make everyone around him happy even if he himself is rather eeyore like. He’s actually quite good at trying to find the good in things for everyone else at times and certainly makes a decent companion to commiserate with if you need it. Lets hope that you never have to turn to him in an actual crisis though. He’s quite the doomsayer when the ‘shit hits the fan’ so to speak.
This isn’t to say that there are not things in life he enjoys. Food for example is a big one. That and pretty girls. He’s quite happy to chat to anyone and everything female no matter the species and try and make himself gloomily endearing. Don’t they just want to pick him up and snuggle him? In fact his could use some snuggles too. Perhaps unfortunately this male has quite the vocabulary and uses it well. He has no issues whatsoever with getting his point across or displaying just how unhappy or happy he is with a particular topic, or person, or mandyr. In fact once you get this blue going you might have a hard time shutting him up. One solution? Shove some food at him. Though he speaks with his mind and not his mouth he seems to find it impossible to both eat and speak at the same time. Curious.
In matters of mating almost anything that is female and firelizard or mandyr is far game. That’s not to say he doesn’t have his favorites of course. He much prefers the sweeter tempered females. His doesn’t have to worry much though. This blue will participate in flights and runs only infrequently. He can’t seem to bring himself to chase when he is in a gloomy mood. When he’s in a good one though he’ll be more then happy to chase said maiden through sun, rain, sleet, snow, hail, or threadfall. Just don’t expect him to ever pick a permanent mate. No ball and chain for him thank you very much. (Written by Rei)
Fire Lizard[/u]
Name: Haru
Age: Adult
Color: Green 21421E / 808000 / 006600 / 4CBB17
Appearance: If an artisan were to take the ideal of a firelizard and craft her into pieces to adorn the wrists and necks of highborn ladies, he could not divine so elegant or perfect a form as this lovely green. Though average in size, her form is slender and long, making her seem smaller than she actually is. If she were to stand still, she could be mistaken for a jade statue, so accurate is her coloring to the polished stone. Dark green patches fuse in a cloud of olive, forest and jungle tones. This girl always has a bright, shiny sheen unless Hers is truly neglecting her.
Her wings are a translucent shade of spring green. They seem fragile as tissue paper to the eye, but they are truly no thinner than the membranes of other firelizards. She is an excellent flyer and will be practically from the moment she’s hatched, rarely suffering an accidents or errors in judgment. By the time she reaches maturation it is unlikely any other flitters would be able to follow her when she dances in the air.
Personality: Some might say, hey, what pet isn’t at least a little eccentric. Well, some are definitely more eccentric than others. This girl is way on the high end of the spectrum. She thinks, you see, that she is a bronze. And not just any bronze, either. The largest, strongest most handsome bronze of all the flits. It is normal for her to flirt with all flit females - she can’t be bothered to lower herself to consort with salamandyrs - and she especially concentrates her attentions on golds. Bringing them gifts, showing off her aerial prowess…and yes, participating in all gold Flights. Naturally, she expects all the chromatics to obey her every whim. She is a nice shiny bronze, after all.
No amount of persuasion can convince this green of her color or her gender. She even struts like her metallic clutchbrothers, chest thrown out and all. To add to her range of eccentricities, this green also happens to be highly protective to the point of paranoia. She has a tendency to pick high points to swoop from in any room she’s in if someone or something comes too close to Hers or her present female of interest. And no, she’s not afraid to use her claws.

Darter[/u]
Name: Akyo (Deceased)
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
Appearance: Large for his species, this flitter-sized wherry is sure to turn a lot of heads with his boldly colored plumage. The majority of his downy fur is a brilliant shade of crimson, marked only on his face where a sooty black patch obscures his eyes and trails like a bib down the front of his neck. He does not look so very different from a Terran cardinal, and like his inter-planetary cousins, he possesses a lovely singing voice and a taste for red berries.
Personality: Vain and not overly fond of loud noises, this avian is liable to spend most of his time either chasing salamandyrs or preening himself. Anything with a reflective surface will charm him instantly, and given time and privacy he will even start singing to his own refection. He is not overly fond of fire lizards -as one might suspect when considering that in the wild they might try to make a meal out of him- and so his owner would be wise to limit his exposure to the more intimidating specimens among their population.
