Deceased: Died in Selenitas Earthquake Plot
Name: Diomas
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Rank: Candidate
Physical Description: Diomas is fairly small, and slight, with a neat kind of petiteness about him. His dark brown hair is cropped short, in a strict fashion. with not a strand out of place. His even darker brown eyes are serious, and usually hold an expression of faintly condensing disdain. His skin is, slightly unusually when compared to his dark hair and eyes, quite pale, and sunburns if Diomas isn't careful. Mind you, the last time he wasn't careful was when he was about 6, so he's not that worried. His clothes are usually plain, made of quite good quality material, and always immaculate,
Personality: Diomas, quite simply, thinks he is perfect. In every way. And indeed, at first glance, and on the outside, he does appear perfect. He's always neat and tidy, is never late, or in the wrong place, does every task set to him with perfect poise and results. Clearly, he is perfect.
And yet... It is hard to like him. Almost impossible, in fact. He doesn't want to be liked for, after all, the rest of the world is obviously less then perfect, and why should he, as the very image of perfection, bother with it? Diomas doesn't need anyone, or anything. Perfectly complete in himself, he needs no friends, needs no shoulder to cry on when things get tough. Not, of course, that he ever cries. Indeed, Diomas is, to the outside world, emotionless. He never seems to be happy, sad, excited. The only thing that shows on his face is pity, and superiority.
Diomas, perfect on the outside, and yet - almost completely unlikable. After all, it's hard to like someone whose perfectionism is so cloying, who in fact is a self centered, arrogant uncaring boy. Oh well, he doesn't want to be liked. All he wants is respect.He also has some rather... odd ideas about Dragon riding. He, when he gets his dragon as, of course, he will, wants to revolutionise Dragonriding forever. He wishes to make it more streamlined, practical, less attentive to all those wasteful emotions of both dragon and rider. After all, if Diomas, who is perfect, shows no emotions, why should anyone else?
Family:
Mother - Grenta (deceased), Father - Yantil (deceased), Sisters - Hartened, Kaluty, Rinty, Baezes (all deceased) and Jouay (Hasn't been seen for several years).
History: Diomas was originally born near Fort Weyr, in a small farming community. The youngest boy in a line of five sisters, his parents had doted upon him, calling him their 'perfect baby'. And indeed, he did seem to be, he hardly ever cried as a child, instead observing everything through his dark brown eyes. His parents, and even his sisters to a lesser extent, continued to call him perfect, make much of everything he did, told him that he was better than anyone else's child. And slowly, that look of intense curiosity changed to one of faint disdain, and Diomas distanced herself from the world. Being, quite clearly, perfect, why should he bother with the rest of the world, and all the less-then-perfect people that inhabited it?
The world, however, decided to bother with him, in the form of an earthquake, that had both robbed him of almost all his family - except for his oldest sister - and had given him a purpose in life. For one of the dragons brought in to help with the recovery efforts had chosen him. He had been Searched, however unofficially. Now, Diomas wondered why this had surprised him. After all, being a dragon rider was possibly the best thing anyone could aspire to be, and, being perfect, it made perfect sense that he'd be chosen. He'd be taken of to a Weyr, Impress a Bronze, and then immediately assume leadership of the Weyr - probably being made Weyrleader in the interim. He was sure that everyone would recognize his perfect qualities. And then... Pern would change. All those inefficient things abour dragons he'd long deplored would be gone. Diomas would change Pern... Or at least, he wished to.
It was perhaps a trifle unfortunate that instead of being at Benden or Fort, the two major Weyr powers, he'd ended up here, at Selenitas. Diomas wasn't sure if he approved of a Weyr where, until recently, anyway, all the Queen riders had believed that they Impressed their Golds by some kind of blood-line right! No-one else could think they were perfect, not when HE existed. Though, admittedly, Diomas hadn't been at the Weyr then. But he was now, and soon, soon, Selenitas wouldn't know what had hit them...
Name Contraction (Males Only): D'mas
Desired Dragon Color: Well... Of course Diomas wants a Bronze!! Bronze's are, after all, the highest rank of dragon a male can Impress. Mind you, Diomas is probably half expecting to get a Gold, because, after all, he IS perfect.
{Behind the scenes, though, I (as Diomas' controller) know a Gold is a stupid thing for Diomas to get, and totally impossible as well, and don't mind what colour her gets. I'm sure it'll be fun all the same!
I hope this is okay!!}
