Deceased: Died in Selenitas Earthquake Plot
Humans:
Name: Rayne
Age: 22 Turns
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Hetero
Rank: Wingrider
Physical Appearance: Rayne is not short, standing at 5'7". But her height isn't really the first thing people notice about her. No--the first thing they notice is the pretty face and then the curvy chest and hips, leading down to long legs. It's safe to say the first thing people notice about Rayne before they even talk to her is her looks.
Toned but not muscular, Rayne has a fair complexion which tans and she's careful not to let burn. Flat stomach, legs to die for, body men like and women envy? She's that sort of girl, appearance wise. Her brunette hair lightens in the sun, bringing out reddish highlights if she's out long enough. Her eyes are rather cat-like in shape with long lashes framing eyes that are indecipherable in coloration. There's hints of blue, green, gold and grey in them, and it seems to alter depending on numerous factors: the weather, what she wears, her mood...anything, really. She has full lips which some might consider a little 'overly large' but they still seem to suit her just fine and she has a small nose with a good jawline.
It's safe to say that Rayne plays up on her looks, cultivating them to make sure she always looks at her best. Her hair is often done up nicely and really she doesn't 'really' care what she wears since it is in her opinion that you can wear anything and still look good if you wear it right. Breeches are the preferred as well as shirts that show a bit of cleavage. She doesn't leave her room unless she can cultivate some sort of 'pretty' look. Even if that look is hair done up in a sort of 'rolled out of bed but still sexy' look. Yes she's pretty and she knows it. Perhaps a little vain and has a big ego though!
Personality: What Rayne has in looks she counterbalances horrendously with personality. First, let it be known: Rayne is a lush. She likes her alcoholic beverages just a bit 'too' much and though she can drink like a fish when she does go over her limit the results? May vary. The thing is that even at her most drunk she can still get serious and keep a level head if absolutely necessary. Yet where there is alcohol? You'll find Rayne!
While Rayne has far too much self confidence too be considered normal and a huge ego? She behaves more like a man than a woman. The only womanly thing she does is to use the fact that she is a woman to get what she wants when the situation calls for it--that and she is rather vain about her looks. But if there's fighting in the mud? She's there. If someone is going to need to skydive from a dragon's back in the middle of a thunderstorm into a lake? She's the one who will be calling out 'oh, me first!' To put it nicely? She's a bit off her rocker, it would seem...
The key word is being seem. Rayne just has no concept of fear and being drunk most of the time really doesn't seem to aid in teaching her some! Very few know the true mind that lies behind that outward exterior of craziness, drunkenness and beauty. Behind all that there is a wit as sharp as any razor and an intelligence and savage cunning that would surprise anyone if they ever got to see. She didn't escape from Fort to Selenitas because she was stupid and just ran off in any said direction. She can beat anyone under the table at chess, a game she seems to enjoy immensely. At cards she's deadly--but people just assume it's because she gambles a lot. Another habit of hers which does her reputation no favors. She loves to gamble. Cards, dice? You name it she's there. She seems to enjoy putting everything on the line and maybe it's her careless recklessness that has her winning more often than not. Games like 'Truth or Dare' are amongst her favorites and she gets bored when she's not in on the action and 'in the know' of what's going on around the Weyr.
Rayne tends to get along well with everyone as long as they can take losing to her and put up with her level of confidence. She's actually nice to everyone and will befriend anyone with an open mind and a good attitude. She's got a thing about weak women who expect everyone else to protect them though. She isn't really fond of cowards and dullards who are uninteresting to her. She doesn't really like liars and thieves much nor those who engage in pointless violence...though she does like brawls! She can fight about as well as most men but she tends to use brains over brawn, loving a good verbal judo just as much as anything else.
Her relationship with Kynoath is very close-knit. The pair are simply perfect for one another. Kynoath has a quick mind and thinks she's better than golds and her rider has a big ego and is more quick witted than she seems. Rayne never lets on her true brainpower. She knows it's better to always, always have an ace in the hole. Hidden ammunition is best because it's always good to have a few cards you hold back. Generally she tends to be able to deal with anything thrown at her and seeming like you're a drunken lout who doesn't know what's going on half the time? Lets you hear a lot, see a lot, that most wouldn't confess if they thought you actually registered most--or any--of it. Few lushes can retain their own power of mind and remember everything that goes on after all. If anyone knew her that well they'd know that being a drunken lush? Really kind of suits her.
Rayne does have a bad temper though. It doesn't tend to show because being drunk keeps it well under wraps--she's a very happy drunk as most can tell. Still, if someone or something really upsets her? The whole Weyr will want to steer clear as tables and chairs are thrown and she will literally not be beyond flinging herself head first into a fight with said person. Rayne has never been shy about cussing and cursing--it's a regular part of her vocabulary after all! She doesn't hold her tongue and she's brazen as can be and really lets the words and fists fly. People learn very quickly not to cross her because no matter what she looks like on the outside there's some demoness living inside of her. They also learn that telling her to 'speak like a lady' or 'don't do this or that'? Equals epic failure. It's better just to let her be who she is and hope for the best.
When it comes to men Rayne isn't big on relationships. One night stands? Well, if Ky flies, whatever. If she's in the mood and it's a decent enough looking guy? Fine by her. She's not exactly big on commitment at this point though. So long as whomever it is gets that she might go for a roll in the sheets. It's not to say she's whorish because she's fairly particular about whom she sleeps with. She has to at least 'know' them before she'll consent to something like that and she tends to stick to one guy at a time rather than just anyone--so long as he knows it's a purely non-committal sort of arrangement. Kynoath is also flighty that way and after flights she doesn't tend to bother with the male who caught her outside of mutual friendship.
History: Born in Fort Weyr, Rayne already had an advantage over those women who'd been born to Benden. Growing up Rayne was a rather obnoxious, adventurous girl who made friends with mostly the boys and was more daring than any of them. She was fighting brawls since the age of eight, a tough little tomboy who stood out from amongst the rest even at so young an age.
She wanted to be a Harper, then a Weaver and so on and so forth...but most of all? She wanted to be a dragonrider. Not a goldrider, no--that would have been too much work! She wanted a green or blue, a mindmate who was up to her standards and as brave and adventurous as she! Her parents were dragonriders who only gave her presents up until her sixteenth turn day. Yet it never bothered her since she was so highly independent that she rarely, if ever, saw them growing up. There were lots of Weyrbrats and she was just another one of the bunch.
When she turned 12 Turns of age she decided to go with being a weaver, but her dedication to it was lax at best and therefor she remained a senior apprentice right up until the age of seventeen Turns when she was Searched for the first time. Delighted and convinced she'd Impress for sure, Rayne became a candidate. She stood four times though, watching as others around her Impressed or also stood. She was nineteen and still convinced she would Impress when she stood for the clutch Kynoath was in.
Rayne had taken to drinking before she Impressed, starting at sixteen Turns and being able to handle more and more as she aged. She would sneak a few drinks even during Weyrlinghood, which got her into trouble but she was still a phenomenal example of a greenrider and it didn't stop her from graduating Weyrlinghood at nineteen Turns along with the rest of the Weyrlings...and she went right on drinking, turning into a regular lush and taking up gambling, to boot!
The events between Fort and Benden were rather intense but during the fifteen Turns it went on it became almost 'natural' to be at war. It didn't bother the daring girl as much as it did some though like anyone she really hated people dying. However, what did bother her was the assassination of Fort's Weyrleaders by C'leon, who failed to take over Fort in the do all, end all. However, it wasn't any better when the Senior Goldrider fled and R'anatar took over! It was this that made Rayne, a woman who wouldn't be under such tyranny or fight for a leader such as that, flee to Selenitas. She spent two Turns, nearly three, trying to just ignore it and hope that someone else would take over. But she grew tired of waiting. There was no way on Pern she could, or would, go to Benden. She knew that Selenitas had taken in Kaegan from Benden and as she'd guessed after staging a successful escape she has just arrived at Selenitas, ready to check in as a transfer who will at least be accepted there...
Dragon
Name: Kynoath
Color: Green
Age: 3 Turns
Physical Appearance: Kynoath is the same color as algea: a rather dark, pond-like green. Her paws, the end of her tail, tips of her wings and nose are all a muddy-green coloration though and the same color looks 'spattered' across her back. In size she is not at all green-like being more like a smaller blue. Her build is lithe but muscular with shoulders that are broader and a chest that is wider. She is in fighting fit shape with a long, whip-like tail that she likes to 'crack' like said weapon and powerful wings and claws that appear over long more like a feline's. Really, Kynoath looks rather a fierce fighting machine rather than her more dainty female green kin!
Personality: Kynoath is known for believing that golds are useless save for clutching and thinking that she--and all greens, for that matter--are far more useful and better than golds in all other respects. A gold can't flame and they certainly aren't much good for fighting since they're too 'precious' to the Weyr, supplying it with eggs. To her they are no more than pampered dragons who boss everyone about and expect to be listened to. Kyno merely listens because she knows it wiser to do so than to be openly rebellious. During her Weyrling years she took some 'taming down' before she'd respect authority.
Kyno, like her rider, is full of exuberance and self confidence. She has a huge ego and as bad a temper as her rider. Still she has a slyness and cunning about her that is visible--whereas Rayne tends to hide those qualities in herself. Kynoath flirts shamelessly but it's safe to call her more of a 'tease' than anything. She loves getting a rise out of males and being paid attention to and flirted with. She is a green in all aspects. The traits people come to know many for are there. She is temperamental and when she's proddy she's a downright monster of a dragon. She takes no nonsense from anyone and is agile and absolutely stunning in flight. Thread doesn't stand a chance against her and nor does anyone else so far as she is concerned. Like her rider she seems without sensible fear, a warrior princess of dragons. Her utter carelessness usually results in lucky 'win' for her.
With her rider in the privacy of their minds, Kynoath shows a side few if any will ever see. She is loving and compassionate, sweet as can be and intelligent. She gives great advice and the pair really suit each other perfectly. She is also fairly vain but at the same time, she has a good heart--just like her rider.

Feline
Name: Winter
Age: 8 months
Gender: Female
Appearance: Absolutely tiny is this feline. As a baby, she’ll easily fit into the palms of people’s hands, or on her favored perch of shoulders. In adulthood, she’ll still be very small, dwarfed by other adults with one or two rare exceptions. She’s distinct in appearance, too – none would ever mistake her for another of her species. She has a very round face that can appear ‘cute’ and ‘dainty’, bringing prominence to her large, clear eyes. She has a slender body with legs that are slightly too short for her length – she looks almost as though she’s crouching at all times, or sneaking about. Her tail is also quite short for her body, comically noticeable even as a kitten; in adulthood, there’s no doubt that watching her strut about will be hysterically funny. Overall the impression of this female’s body is that she’s a predator though, from the little razor-sharp claws to her manner of prowling about at all times. Of course, it’d be more serious if her ears weren’t quite so large – as it is, they’re definitely pronounced, and can make her head seem somewhat oddly shaped. When sitting still, she almost looks like she’ll fall on her face at all times – poor thing!
This feline cub possesses long, silky fur, covering her entire body. The effect of this long hair is to make her round face seem to have larger cheeks, complete with fluffy fur spreading out almost to the effect of appearing triangular, while her large ears possess long hairs at the very tips; she distinctly resembles a terran Lynx. Her tail, despite being short, is exceedingly fluffy, and looks to be as wide around as her entire body when she gets fired up. She is pure, unadulterated white, from the tip of her nose to the end of her tail, like the color of fresh snow. A pale pink nose graces the front of her face, noticeably standing out against the otherwise pale color of her fur. Her eyes, though, are her most defining feature: brilliant crystal blue, they stand out and seem to glow even in the dark. The shade is like that of the sky at high noon, clear and dazzling. No doubt she’s a stunner!
Personality: “Bratty” would be the best word to describe the initial impression that this little cub gives off. She’s gorgeous – and she knows it, make no mistake. Her behavior is nearly snobbish. She has quite a fondness for strutting about, her tail in the air, head held high, showing off in a classical “Look at me! Look at me!” style. Everyone should admire how wonderful she is, compliment her constantly, because she most assuredly is one of the most beautiful felines to ever grace Pern. Right? – Except ‘grace’ in reference to her is comical. No matter how snobby she may behave (and she does), she lacks in the subtle feline agility that most of her species has, and this completely undermines her attempts at being regal most of the time, much to her misfortune. In fact, it makes all of her efforts in vain – she looks positively ridiculous more often than not.
Translation: This feline is a klutz. No matter how hard she tries, no matter how many times she prances about gracefully, she’s always stumbling and falling. If she climbs onto a table, counter, or even the furs, she’s falling. Fragile objects have no hope in her presence, and she has a bad habit of falling off of everything she gets into: tables, beds, counters, people – you name it, she’s slipping and hitting the ground. Fortunately, she’s resilient, as is her ego, and the constant battering doesn’t usually result in her sulking for more than a few moments. This is especially easy to fix if her humanslave is kind enough to pet her and compliment her beauty. No one’s opinion matters as much to her as her foodbringer, and as long as she believes this little cub is the most beautiful, wonderful thing on Pern, then nothing else matters. Spoiled? Oh yes. But doesn’t she deserve it?
