Deceased: Died in Selenitas Earthquake Plot
Humans:
Name: Mayari (Maya)
Age: 18 Turns
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Hetero
Rank: Dragon Candidate
Physical Appearance: Maya stands at 5'6", with a body that is toned from working outdoors at almost all times. She has a constant tanned complexion as with darker brunette hair, only highlighted with lighter chestnut streaks from sunlight's influence. Her hair is just past her shoulder blades. It is wavy near the ends but usually wind-blown so it appears straighter. Large dark brown eyes with hints of honey gold flecks are nice enough though more catching in shape than in coloration. Full lips that are a tad on the larger side with a small nose and a heart shaped face to finish.
Maya only wears darker colors, her favorite being black. A black wher-hide jacket and pants with a shirt under is her usual attire. It's not far off from what rider's wear, complete with black wher-hide boots. Given that she works with runners a lot it's not too hard to understand why. Her jacket and trousers are rather form fitting and tailored to suit her body. She wears black a lot but looks good in other colors too, mostly darker ones. When she's not wearing her usual she can be seen in crimson, emerald, gold, and other colors that suit her.
Personality: Maya is first and foremost down to earth. She isn't opinionated nor is she judgmental although she is over analytical about certain issues. Her loyalty to her friends runs deep since she tends to make less close friends and has many acquaintances. She treats everyone as she'd like to be treated, but because she isn't overly emotional for a girl many sometimes find her blatant honesty to be a bit harsh. She isn't afraid to speak up when she has something to say and when given a task she does her utmost to do her best. With things she particularly disdains doing she becomes quite the procrastinator!
Her hobbies include runner riding, reading and Dragonhealing, the craft she chose to pursue when she turned 12 Turns of age. She loves firelizards, whers and dragons alike and takes a keen interest in them and in animals in general. She also enjoys the simpler things in life such as cooking, baking and preparing food. Before she was an Apprentice Dragonhealer, she was helping her mother in the kitchens from the age of eight turns of age.
Maya has a very good memory for faces and names and she is a very good judge of character. She can tolerate most flaws in people if only because she realizes that everyone has faults and everyone has good qualities. However, there are certain types of things that she doesn't like. People who don't control their temper and liars being the foremost. She is fairly intellectual and social; a good listener who tries to give good advice where she can and tries to help others when and where she can. She is not lazy but does enjoy a certain amount of freedom to herself as she is fairly independent and loves to see new things and explore and adventure.
Her biggest flaw is her lack of sensitivity towards being too honest. She says and does things without thinking that some might be more sensitive than she is. As a headstrong individual who always held her own she often can't understand weaknesses in others. She can unknowingly hurt when trying to help and be far too blunt.
History: Maya grew up in Fort Hold, which was tithed to Fort Weyr in the North. Since Dragonhealing didn't have its own Hall and was needed only in Weyrs there were few places to apprentice for it and Fort Hold had a Master who came to take on a couple of apprentices--luckily for Maya.
The war between Benden and Fort didn't have too much of an effect on Fort Hold though it was close to the Weyr. What effects it did have Maya didn't notice all that much, so wrapped up in her chosen craft and always focused on simply one thing. Still she heard rumors and when the leaderships changed from time to time or Fort was winning or losing she heard about it. Still, she figured that maybe she would be of even more use if there was a war going on. It meant that dragons would need healing even more than ever! Even though Maya didn't like war or think it necessary the dragons would need healing one way or the other. When she heard that one of Fort Weyr's queens leaving she was confused as to why and what had gone on. However once again, being at Fort Hold she wasn't overtly affected by it. The only thing that bothered her was that a queen leaving meant that there'd be less clutches and less dragons for Fort, the Weyr she expected to eventually be living at. So she secretly hoped (along with others) that the Fort queen who'd left would return in good health.
Maya's mother worked for the Lord Holder as a cook. Maya would accompany her in the kitchens, an only child whose father had gotten caught in Threadfall when she was only three turns of age. Maya, like many children, always hoped to be Searched but it didn't happen when she hit the right age and she decided to take advantage of the Master who was offering to teach it and become a Dragonhealer. At 12 turns she went into apprenticeship, working harder at it than anything she'd ever worked at before. More than anything she wanted to walk the tables and go live at the Weyr around dragons and dragonriders. Even if she wasn't meant to impress one herself, she hoped to live her life surrounded by them and helping them. So hard did she work that at seventeen turns she walked the tables. Never did she expect the irony, however.
Two days after she walked the tables as a Journeyman she was given her first post by Healerhall: Selenitas Weyr. She packed her few belongings and headed there happy she'd finally be living her dream--even if it wasn't at Fort Weyr like she'd expected. She never would have expected that the dragonrider who picked her up was the one who would Search her to become a dragon Candidate. The irony of it was nearly too much but of course she accepted and now she is Journeyman Dragonhealer and Dragon Candidate at Selenitas, knowing that if she doesn't impress at least she can work towards Mastery in her craft.

Salamandyr
Name: Zexion
Age: 1
Color: Bronze #96772E
Gender: Male
Physical Description: Unusually large is this salamandyr, even for a bronze. His size will rival that of small queens, and at hatching, he’s easily the largest of his clutch. He has a more slender build than the average salamandyr, with long, wider wings that will make gliding to and fro a breeze; he’ll even be adept at small bursts of flight, though his true expertise will be most obvious when he’s on the ground. His body is stream-lined like a torpedo, and his long, spindly tail adds the perfect balance to his size, offering him an unusual level of agility for something so big. Aside from the wings, this male is perfectly proportionate, and his frill is large enough to be impressive without unbalancing him; when flared, he looks to be the perfect specimen of what a salamandyr should be. More impressive still is that his claws, even from the moment of his hatching, are razorsharp; he’ll be an extraordinary climber, and most likely more at home on tall tree branches than anything else. His favored places to be will be high up, just out of reach, with the ultimate view. Keeping him out of trees or off of shelves will be a pain for the unfortunate person who Impresses him.
But he is pretty. He’s definitely very lovely to behold. His hide is an elegant backwash of dark bronze, rich in red hues, as though fabric has been wound over his entire body to create a glimmering effect; he constantly looks as if he’s been soaked in water, simply because of the different layers of color that make up his hide. There’s lighter shades too, though, more prominently visible along his lower belly and the insides of his legs. Interestingly, his body has a textured appearance, with sharp jolts of lighter shades of bronze, almost tan, sliding over his wings and back – the appearance is almost like knives underneath his skin. Interestingly, his wings also have more olive shades of bronze in slivers, adding emphasis to the otherwise elegant appearance; the end effect is that his wings almost seem broken into thousands of smaller layers of flesh when looked at in the light just right. No doubt he’s a pretty specimen but – quite unusual, too.
Personality: Outgoing is this bronze – perhaps unusually so. He very much enjoys playing with creatures of all species – regardless of what color they are. Firelizards, dragons, whers, other salamandyrs, humans, they’re all treated equal by him and he’ll come right up to them all to talk (whether they answer or not). He’s very fond of “joking around” but unfortunately, as a salamandyr, his sense of humor may not be on par with the rest of the world and he has a bad habit of making inappropriate comments or jokes that are meant to be funny but can be and frequently are inappropriate. Many creatures will find him offensive, a fact that he can’t comprehend – why shouldn’t they love him? He’s just trying to play with them! Resilient to a fault, he can’t understand that he offends people so he actively seeks them out continuously. He’s very good at talking his way out of problems, too; if he offends people, he can usually weasel his way out of it (be it because people genuinely believe in him or simply because they want him to stop talking). Fast-talking and clever, this is one bronze that will have to be watched to be kept out of trouble, and His would do well by monitoring him regularly. It’s perfectly possible he’ll get into trouble and take advantage of his ability to badger others into silence on a regular basis.
Despite being generally an overly friendly creature, this salamandyr is not without his faults. He’s a bronze, and he knows it, and by Faranth, everyone on Pern had better respect his station. He has no respect for other bronzes or queens of any kind and won’t take orders from anyone. More importantly, he’s very stubborn once he’s made his mind up on things and being intelligent means he’ll periodically run into the problem of not being able to be convinced to do things, even those that are good for him. His will require immense patience in dealing with him simply because he’s that stubborn.
He’s redeemed though from his stubborn refusal to listen by the fact that he’s a hardworker – most of the time. He’s not fond of taking orders but he’s a responsible little salamandyr and will usually take initiative in doing things; His will find quickly that he both likes delivering messages and is very good about remembering his instructions. He’s generally smart enough to do things without hand-holding, though he hates having to repeat a project numerous times. It’ll be difficult to coax him into doing so, though once he learns, he remembers everything. He’s a smart salamandyr, even if he is somewhat spoiled. He’ll resent being commanded by queens or His, but he’ll always do what is required of him without being asked. See? He’s smart!
