Deceased: Died in Selenitas Earthquake Plot
Humans:
Name: Tahlor
Honorific: T'lor
Age: 19 turns
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Hetero
Rank: Dragon Candidate
Physical Appearance: Tahlor stands at 6' and is very fit for his eighteen turns of age due to the sort of life he led. He keeps his hair down to almost his chin and it's a straight and medium shade of brown. His eyes are hazel with more green in them than brown and also with a a bit of blue. He already looks like he's over 20 even though he's eighteen so often people mistake him for older than his turns.
Tahlor wears whatever is comfortable. When it's hot he often doesn't bother wearing a shirt at all, just breeches. In colder weather he wears a wher-hide jacket lined with fleece and breeches and warmer shirts. When he does wear shirts in hotter weather it is often a vest or a really thin, silky material of shirt.
Personality: T'lor is one of those charming guys with a great sense of humor who seems so laid back that the world could be falling down around them and they'd still find something to be optimistic about. He isn't egotistical but he knows he's good looking and therefor doesn't mind flirting shamelessly with anyone he takes a shine to. He is bold in the way he speaks, completely optimistic and loves to just have a good time.
Tahlor has a bit of a temper when something sets him off but while it can be like a whirlwind one moment? It's completely gone the next. He tends to be sharp of wit and tongue but sometimes he's stubborn and bullheaded--a little too free spirited and usually unwilling to submit to anyone he feels he's above. He likes to do things his way and is intelligent enough to think of faster and efficient ways to do things that might otherwise be drawn out and dull. Dull is his bane in life: everything for T'lor has to be made fun.
T'lor loves traveling, loves adventure and enjoys doing things to get the adrenaline going. He can be serious--but why be serious when you could be making things interesting? Still there's a side of him that shows from time to time. A protectiveness for his family and friends. A loyalty to those close to him that can't be overcome. A bravery that backs down for nothing and no one. The word for it is 'potential' and T'lor has plenty of it. With guidance it could shine through and come forth.
So T'lor might be a little too headstrong and might not be the most responsible person to leave your children with. Nonetheless he's a fun and great guy to be around, the women adore him and he's generally a good person at heart with a lot of potential. It all depends on where the future takes him in the do all end all.
History: Tahlor's family are traveling merchants so Tahlor's life was full of adventure and exploration. In a caravan of merchants/traders, everyone pulls their own weight and Tahlor was no exception. He worked with the runners and helped with the hunting and food gathering. From a young age he learned how to fight with knife, bow and arrow and bare handed as well as the sword. It's not always safe to be a merchant/trader in a time when there are wars going on and every single person, male or female, was trained to protect themselves properly. Bandits were another issue, so training was doubly needed for them.
Tahlor has two younger sisters whom he absolutely adores and they love him. The oldest is younger than him by eight turns and the other by ten and it's obvious he is quite protective towards them. His parents are still happily in love and life has always been fairly good. There were raids by bandits but everyone in the caravan, which is quite large, knew how to be on the alert so they were never taken by surprise and everyone pitched in to drive them off. They were always present at any gathers or events they could be and often they were safer than most because no matter where they chose to stay over they never got involved in the wars and everyone knew they brought goods to sell and trade and so they were safe from harm.
Tahlor lived a truly carefree life. He didn't want anything else but to be a traveler with the caravan for the rest of his turns. It was a life of excitement and he knew all sorts of things like how to cook, repair clothes, sell, play pipes...anything he wanted was not out of his reach and he didn't even have to go through the hassle of learning a craft or being tied down to one place. He walked everywhere and did his part, keeping in fantastic shape through this and training consistently to defend the caravan and himself. Yes, life was perfect...
Since they lived in the South the Caravan attended some Gathers as well as hosting them. They went from Hold to Hold, Weyr to Weyr and it never mattered where they went--they were quite welcome. They made money from the things they made, traded and bought. They would pick fruits and berries, make pies and hunt to sell meat and so that they always ate well themselves when not under hospitality of a Weyr or Hold. They did everything from weaving to woodcrafting, jewelcrafting and blacksmithing. They were a varied lot with different talents and Tahlor himself was quite adept at making lovely figurines of wooden animals and dragons, firelizards and whers which were quite liked wherever they went.
Then he was Searched while passing through the Selenitas area. He might have said no except that the idea of flying and going between to anywhere on Pern was just too exciting a prospect. Of course he didn't think about the responsibility. That he'd be living in a Weyr and not traveling anymore. That he'd lose his way of life for another. No, all he thought of were the positives. Having a dragon, having a rank, flying and going places in a blink of an eye. So it was that Tahlor jumped on it, accepting and going off on a dragon to Selenitas.
Dragon
Name: Shith
Color Code: 86F5F6
Appearance: Shortened legs and an extra whippy tail are a recipe fr disaster in a creature of Shith’s size. Just on the larger side of average for a blue (at least, in length), Shith seems so much smaller, given the shorter length of his legs in proportion to his body size. Thankfully, his wings are large enough to compensate for the mild shortcomings of his other four limbs. His neck is also just a hair shorter than it should be, though not enough to be noticed except in comparison to a similarly-sized blue when they are side by side.
Shith’s coloration is… odd, to say the least. His hide is three shades of the same base color. The base color is a light sky blue, and splotches of lighter and darker blue decorate the rest of his hide, just a shade lighter and darker than the same basic blue. The most notable of these spots is a dark splotch at his rump that makes the blue look like he wears the dragon version of undergarments. Another dark splotch surrounds his left eye, giving him a rogue-like appearance that completely stands at odds with his personality. The only other splotch of any real oddity is on the center of his back, this one in a runner-shoe shape.
Landbound movements are difficult for Shith, given his shortened legs, but he toddles along just fine when he is of a mind to. In the air, he is fearless and moves with the grace typical of his color, able to keep up with most of his peers and even some of the greens. Shith does have the odd tendency to waggle his tail when excitement, and the tail can get rather out of control and leave destruction in its wake. This is purely unintentional, of course, and he hardly notices when he does damage to his own tail in the process of expressing his glee. Seeing as he is very excitable, he bounces quite a lot, and he can rarely be found sitting still. When he does sit, he sits all the way back on his rump with his forelegs tucked into his chest, perfectly upright and posed. What a strange beast he is.
Personality: Shith and his favored clutchsister Minth are perhaps the most playful and fun-loving creatures of the entire clutch. Shith in particular loves nothing better than a good romp, and he could spend hours chasing tunnelsnakes in an attempt to bring them back to His for a word of praise. Surprisingly, he digs rather well and will happily tunnel into soil, sand, or mud in pursuit of his quarry. Unfortunately, extricating himself can prove to be quite the problem, so His might find himself digging Shith out of sticky predicaments quite frequently. Shith will always be apologetic for the moment and then right back to chasing something the next instant, rarely able to sit still for long.
For all that he has a relatively short attention span at times, Shith is a loyal friend, though that loyalty is a lot of bravado and not a lot of claw. He tends to bounce up and down when angered, making high-pitched noises that will irritate any creature in the vicinity to the point of wanting to throttle him. Self-control is not something that Shith possesses a great deal of, so his insistent noise-making, in addition to his bouncing, will earn him few friends and many enemies when he is riled. Fortunately, he rarely stays in such a mood for long, especially if something small that he can chase happens to scamper by. His friends are advised to not take him along as back-up in a fight. Shith will inevitably squawk a lot, make everyone angrier, and then become distracted, regardless of his good intentions. He really, truly doesn’t mean it. He simply… lacks the focus.
As far as mating goes, Shith will, as soon as he reaches maturity, attempt mounting with anything smaller than him that doesn’t move. Of course, he will get as far as flopping himself down on the back of said female (or hapless small blue, if they look particularly pretty from behind) and then not have the instincts to know what to do next. An annoying and embarrassing habit to be sure, but he, luckily, doesn’t try it for more than about a minute before realizing that something is amiss. When greens Rise, he will be the first into the air, wholeheartedly chasing any female tail that zips by his nose, even if he just caught a female a day or two before. Loyal to his friends, never to his mates… such is the life of Shith. And it’s a sharding good life, with plenty of fun and lots of tail to chase. What more could a male ask for?
