Deceased: Died in Selenitas Earthquake Plot
Humans:
Name: Y'kiro
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Rank: Candidate/Runaway
Physical Appearance: Standing a five feet seven inches he is on the shorter side for most boys his age. He is also lean and not considered very strong. He often surprises people with his strength. He has very pale skin that burns easily if he doesn't take the right percautions. His ash-blonde hair reaches down to the middle of his back and he usually keeps it pulled back in a loose pony-tail.
Personality: A viable firecracker he has an awful temper that isn't helped by the fact he can be easily annoyed. However once you get past Yukiro's temper he is actually a decent young man and will not leave someone in a tight spot he can help them out of. Though his temper gets him into some sticky situations he doesn't mean to be out right disrespectful....most of the time. He is loyal to those he considers friends and will defend them when necessary. His brother is the only one he will put his life on the line for but that will be explained further later. He is also the complete opposite of his older brother in personality.
History: Born in Benden Weyr Yukiro had a childhood typical of that of a middle-class merchant's youngest son. The youngest son of a jewelery merchant he had no interest in the craft and instead apprenticed to a carpenter. He figured it was a good alternative since his older brother would inherit the family business. However Shmee's Impression of Aslath shook up politics in Benden and the apprentice carpenter was told that Selenitas Weyr could not be trusted. Yukiro took this information with a grain of salt so to speak though since he doesn't typically judge people he hasn't met. Then Benden laid seige to Selenitas after Keagan and her gold fled Benden to seek refuge in the other Weyr. Yukiro was upset when gold Rimeath died mid-Flight. Yukiro's parents were killed because it was believed the supported C'leon. However the family had never supported the rash leader though they were careful not to openly oppose him. Yukiro and his brother fled Benden roughly a turn ago and have just reached Selenitas in the last month or so seeing as they had to travel most of the way by foot. They were both thankful for the caravaan for picking them up and giving them a lift. They were both lucky to have made it alive as it was and they weren't going to push their luck further. Both brothers lost their inheritence and way of living so they decided to take a new road and become dragon riders. Yukiro is sure he wants to be a dragonrider. It's a step above what he was before though he isn't looking foreward to being treated as a drudge for the most part. He wants to protect Pern from thread and stop the conflict that is escalating between the weyrs.
Faun Brown
Name: Auwanath
Impressed to: Yukiro | Y’kiro
Color: Brown (#3D1D00)
Appearance: Auwanath is huge. Fully-grown, he’ll be as large as most bronzes– but he’s certainly not masculine. In fact, his body is more streamlined and feminine than anything else, all sleek lines that capture motion. A small, elegant head with large eyes is set at an angle upon a very long, slender neck, giving Auwanath a constant tilt that’s reminiscent of pride to head and neck both. The brown’s spine is long, too, flowing into an equally long tail that’s on the whippy side. An oddity of Auwanath’s are his neck ridges, which are extraordinarily sharp and pointed, almost curving backwards at the tip, near the base of his neck, and gradually fade into mere bumps near the top.
With long, narrow wings, Auwanath is more aligned towards agility and quick bursts of speed than towards endurance, putting him at a distinct disadvantage during Fall. Nevertheless, with proper exercise, lasting the six hours shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Nevertheless, Auwanath’s flying is a little too pretty to be quite right; he tends to twirl when he can, or do little flips more often seen on much smaller dragons. Auwanath also has a tendency to use his legs to propel himself through the air, as if he were swimming. His and the Weyrlingmasters can argue with the habit as much as they want – but it just won’t change.
In color, Auwanath is dark brown color, the shade of soil freshly turned – and, like soil, it’s extremely matte. Only excessive oiling (to the point of his actually being slick with oil) will bring out any hint of a gleam; best not to try for it. Auwanath’s eyes are ringed, like a Terran raccoon’s, in black, the half-mask stretching to touch the base of both head knobs. The mask itself is lined with a startlingly red klah-shade of brown, a thin line the width of a child’s first finger.
Auwanath’s eyes, narrower and a bit sharper than most dragons’ tend to be, are – not unique, but special. While they’ll appear generally as most dragons’ tend to be, his first transparent eyelid is not exactly just transparent. No; it provides him with perfect night-vision. The mechanics are difficult (if not downright impossible) to understand, but regardless, it’s something Auwanath seems to accept without question – he knows how to use it and that it’s there, just like he knows how to wiggle his tail.
Personality: Auwanath isn’t the most noticeable of creatures. In fact, it’s quite easy to overlook him. He’s a very calm, rational creature, and is extremely laid-back, capable of keeping his head even in the most stressful of situations. Kind, Auwanath is definitely a friendly dragon, too, even though he rarely demonstrates his affections physically – the waves of gentle amusement and love are usually enough to get his point across. He’s easy to get talking, and easy to talk to, and perceptive enough to know when the conversation is boring his partner; that’s not his intention at all. Always polite, always respectful, regardless of rank or even species, Auwanath tends to seem washed out in comparison to more colorful personalities.
As it happens, Auwanath is a very social creature. He likes being surrounded by people, and he likes to talk and tease and play, though he’ll never babble or ramble – in fact, Auwanath is more likely to be considered “quiet”, though he’s also definitely not shy. A very caring dragon, Auwanath looks out for others by proxy, regardless of what they have or haven’t done; grudges are almost never held. Auwanath would much rather everyone just get along, but he’s not a doormat – those he cares for will always be defended vehemently should the need arise – and, surprisingly, Auwanath has a confident streak that surfaces most prominently in such situations. He will not allow anyone to hurt his friends.
The dragon has a fascination with plants. Most specifically, with herbs. It would please him to no end if he were allowed to stick his muzzle into a cabinet at the Infirmary and just inspect everything. He likes to try to grow things, too, though given how large he is in contrast to most plants, that could prove difficult, and probably even a little destructive. Auwanath also likes swords – shiny things in general hold no fascination for him. Swords, though – ! It won’t be unusual to see him with a sword clamped carefully between his teeth, and if someone could teach him to fight with it, all the better.
