Humans:
Name: Kinstar
Age: 22
~Birthday: 15 June 2996
Gender: female
Sexual Orientation: bisexual
Rank: Wher Candidate; Starcrafter (cartography specialist)
Physical Appearance: Kinstar is a rather lovely woman, if you are around when she’s awake. She keeps her brown-blond hair in a bob that she takes meticulous care of, sweeping the long bangs to the side to frame her heart-shaped face. Her eyebrows are naturally bushy, but quite vainly she plucks them into arches. Kinstar claims she must have a extra testosterone; she also has soft sideburns and dark leg hair she absolutely detests and shaves with a straight razor daily. Her eyes are quite blue, with a tinge of gray at the center. Her skin is pale and freckles rather than tans. Pale freckles mark her face, arms, back, shoulders, chest… everywhere the skin touches. Which is most everywhere, as Kinstar has little compunction to cover up when it’s in the tropical heat.
Because she’s usually awake at night, Kinstar favors dark makeup – purple-based lipstick and dark grey or black eye shadow. She rarely wears lash color due to having thin eyelashes, and instead uses eye liner and shadow around her whole eye to emphasize her blue eyes. Though not very voluptuous, Kinstar still does have a feminine figure, due to spending most of her time making star, Threadfall, and contour maps. She is in decent shape from clambering around in the dark, but nothing compared to the vast majority of people in a Weyr. Kinstar carries a little extra weight – perhaps five to ten pounds – that gives her a softer figure than she would otherwise have.

Personality: Kinstar is a perfectionist. She doesn’t like things to be messy or mussed at all; that is wrong and completely unacceptable. Her quarters are maintained in unsurprising tidiness, and everything has its place. She sweeps her floor daily and scrubs any area she works on at least once a week and sometimes more often. Her hair and makeup is meticulous, and her choice of clothing is usually simple and fairly practical. The same perfection she uses in her daily life comes to life in her cartography. Kinstar is relatively well-known in the Starcraft Hall for her exactingly perfect maps – both star maps and land maps, though she has done her share of copying Threadfall charts. Her specialty is creating contour maps.
As a person, Kinstar is relatively easy to get along with, so long as you don’t directly challenge her. Most of the time, she is friendly and engaging, seeing no reason to alienate people she works with, though she might gossip behind their backs, or harbor irritation at sloppiness and slovenly behavior. She makes an effort to seem helpful, if only because her way is better than whatever other people are teaching, and if she can get every person to behave in a correct manner the world will just be better. Kinstar tends to be a little subversive when people try and tell her how to do things she. She will listen with an attentive face, and then continue to do whatever she was doing beforehand – whatever she’s been commanded to do is exactly the thing she now wants to do less than anything else in the world! Though not a true people-person, Kinstar does try to get along with most people. It makes the application of the correct way to do things far simpler when people like you and think highly of you.
Schedule: Wakes up at ~3pm, breakfast ~4pm. Lunch ~8pm. Dinner ~3am. Goes to sleep ~7am.
History: Kinstar was the second child born to Jekinnera and Steramnen, a surprise child. Despite the surprise of her conception, Kinstar was loved by her parents and grew up with them in the nighttime, raised as much by Jekisk and the other whers at Southern Hold as by her parents. Her perfectionism showed up early, for Kinstar was a fussy child who required perfectly folded corners and prepared food to sleep and eat. For all that, she was prone to getting messy in the dirt, though she adored baths from a small child.
When Kinstar was eight and her brother Amnijinn twelve, Jekisk sired a Clutch on one of Southern’s gold whers. Jekinnera managed to convince the gold handler and her wher to let the children see the eggs. That evening, Kinstar sketched from memory the layout of the wher stables and of the nest while Amnijinn dashed around, pretending to be a wher. The next day, Steramnen took Kinstar as an apprentice in starcrafting, while Jekinnera enrolled her son as a wher Candidate. To the handler’s delight, Amnijinn Bonded a wher from that first Clutch, a skinny little green who chose the name Amnsk. The duo were hellions and had a delightful time in training.
In comparison, Kinstar was every master’s delight. She threw herself into memorizing and perfecting her work. The change in leadership at Selenitas Weyr hardly affected Kinstar’s life, save for what she heard in grumbling between the adults. At fourteen Turns of age, the return of Threadfall meant the mapping of it, and Kinstar’s education in the history of Thread and how to predict Falls using the movement of the Red Star and of the stars and Pern itself expanded rapidly.
Soon after, Steramnen sent her to the Starcraft Hall in order to get more advanced training in cartography, her early favorite aspect of the Craft. She learned quickly and was assigned Journeyman status at eighteen Turns. Her first assignment was to Telgar Hold, where she soon fell in love with the rule of honor. As a cartographer, she spent most of her time out and about, mapping the cotholds and fields of the Hold territory for the Steward. Her wher-riding abilities (from growing up riding Jekisk around in exploration) were soon translated into runner-riding abilities, and she had many a delightful race with the wind.
Eventually, however, Kinstar was called back to Southern Hold by her family, for Amnijinn’s Joining to another male wherhandler. Kinstar’s parents were remarkably accepting of the idea – perhaps because they had been given several Turns to get used to the idea. Amnijinn and Tyrilud had been lovers since a few months before Kinstar had left for the Starcraft Hall. The ceremony was held shortly after Southern Hold finally held a Gather open to the Weyr, and Kinstar, curious about the Weyr, requested a transfer to Selenitas Weyr a few months later. Jekinnera and Amnijinn enjoined her before she left to get the gossip from the Weyr’s wherhandlers and to send them letters about them, curious about their kin who lived among dragons.
She attended both the wher Touching and Hatching of Eikask's Dances Clutch in order to be able to report to her parents about the whers of the Hold. It was much to her dismay, then, when a blue seemingly intent on going wild attacked her, gouging her chest and hips before finally Bonding to some other hapless person in the room. Coming to Kinstar's rescue was a brown wher, choosing the name Kinstsk and forever making pronunciation difficult.

Wher
Viennese Waltz Brown
Bonded to: Kinstar
Name: Kinstsk
Color: Brown #7B3F00 #CBBBA0 #300500
Physical Appearance: This brown does not live up to the size of his shell. He's a slight bit on the small size for a brown though its barely noticeable. He's not stocky like his blue brother but he is quite sturdily built. His tail is disproportionately thick with muscle and he has a wicked habit of swinging it side to side with quick, snapping movements. Anything directly at tail height risks being smacked with his strong tail. He seems very much like the embodiment of masculinity. Rippling muscles, rugged features, the whole package. His movement also reflects his strong build. He walks as if he has a purpose and with all the dignity a male ought to move with. He is a slow moving wher in comparison with other whers his size. He has tiny wings in comparison to his body and as such he will never manage even a glide.
This wher is impossible to describe as just one singular colour. At random spots along his body his colouring fades from the colour of milk chocolate to a brown that looks mostly grey and at others it turns to a darker brown. The best description of him would be camouflage, for the colours overlap in just such a pattern. This pattern is entirely absent on his small wings. They are an odd gradient of the three colours on his hide. at his shoulders they're the darkest colour and they fade quickly through the dark brown and chocolate brown, making most of the wings grey-brown. The wings are entirely opaque, allowing for quite a vivid pattern on his wings.
Personality: This brown is very aware of his masculinity. It reflects in the way he walks and interacts with others. He's of the opinion that males are the best. He doesn't look down upon females in a necessarily negative way. In his opinion they should be relaxing between Runs and letting the big strong males protect them and do all the work. With other males he likes to try and assert his dominance, most often by challenging them to a friendly fight to prove who is stronger. Refusal must come directly from the one he challenged and is seen as defeat. Interference from handlers or other third parties do not count. Those he beats he considers his followers and they're expected to act as such.
The inability to so much as glide often leaves this brown frustrated and grumbling for hours on end. Unhappy is he. There is possibly nothing he longs for more than to fly. He'll occasionally abandon his usual dignity and jump off things and flutter his wings in a futile effort to become airborne. Though he'll always have some lingering feelings over not being able to fly he does have another thing to keep him distracted. He has an insatiable curiosity about all things. His handler will frequently be peppered with the wher equivalent of 'why?' as a young child might do. Good luck getting him to stop once he's started.
